Christmas Double Day

Hello bloggers!  Today's Christmas double day features a couple of cards that I demonstrated last weekend on the Takeover shows.  Starting with the 3D Fireplace card.  I cut the fireplace twice out of tan card and once out of Rich Red card.  I inked through the die on all of them with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink.  I cut away all of the fireplace except for the brick on the red one and glued it atop one of the tan ones.  Then I just cut out the mantle area on the other tan one and added it with foam over the one for a bit of dimension.  I folded it along the score lines to create the 3D look.  I cut the fire out of white and gray card and I inked the white one with yellow and orange to give it the look of fire and cut the basket off the gray one and glued it in place, then added it to the slit in the fireplace.  Next I inked a small piece of gray card with Fossilized Amber distress oxide to give a soft glow behind the fireplace and glued it behind attaching it to the folded hearth and mantle areas.  I used a background of white card and a strip of decorative paper with a tan base and a small gold polka dot in it.  I added a gold star garland across the two pieces as a border.  I glued the fireplace in the centre of the bottom of the card.  I cut two poinsettia flourishes out of green card and added two red poinsettias to the centres.  I glued them into place hooking them together in the centre.  I cut the Our House sentiment in red and glued it above the fireplace.  The candle and clock were cut and added to the mantle area.  I made three red and white stockings, adding iced snow to the tops and hung them across the fireplace.  I cut the wreath in both green and red, then cut the bow out of the red one and glued it to the green one, and then hung it off the corner edge of the mantle piece.  I completed the card with white on white mats.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  7 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is a cute gingerbread man card.  I just love the way he is popping out of the hexagon shapes!  I started with a piece of tan card and cut three apertures using one of the hexagons from the Lace Snowflake Frame die set.  I used the two larger centre hexagons to cut white frames to go around them too.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimension.  Next I cut three of the gingerbread house roof die in white and flicked the shingles up a bit on them and mounted them behind each of the aperture openings.  I cut three gingerbread men and inked them with worn lipstick for their cheeks, tummies and smile and added their eyes in with a pencil.  I added red bow ties to each of them and inked the edges with Walnut Stain oxide ink.  I put each of them into an opening with mounting foam (the legs need to be trimmed slightly too).  I cut the Our House sentiment in red and glued it to the lower corner of the card and added a white snowflake corner in the upper corner.  White, tan and red mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8" in size.

Don't forget  to check back later today for the list of Sept. die release winners!!  All for now, Sue x

Good luck in Sues drawings today folks, fingers crossed. It has been heartwarming to see the daily posts stay high, please don't leave once the winners have been published, this is such a special blog of a very special lady, she gives so much, it doesn't take much to give her the support she needs. She can't do it without you.

Morning Sue. What a coincidence that you show this beautiful and well thought out fireplace sample this morning. I'm still playing catch up with last weekend's shows and yesterday this is the sample I watched you make ☺ and the second card I caught up with on Wednesday so it's lovely to see them both again today. I know you will always make me LOL or smile when watching your demo's and the biggest smile this time was the Gingerbread person with funky hair lol - what an imagination Hayley had, looked like an 80's gingerbread guy with that mound of hair lol. I love both samples equally, and the 2nd would be lovely to give a child. Will try and remember to look back later if age doesn't stand in the way !!
Leaving you with the usual hugs xxx

Hi Sue,

What a charming Christmas duo this morning!
The fireplace evokes many childhood memories, all 9 of us would sit Christmas morning with the real fire blazing, stockings hanging, presents to be opened, tree lights on and the toasting fork ready! Sheer Bliss!!!
And don't the gingerbread men look fabulous and good enough to eat, poking out of those delightful hexagons!

Dear Sue and Wilsonettes Who Are Holding Their Breath And Crossing their Fingers and Toes,

What could be better than a two-fer Friday? A two-fer Friday with the launch drawing!

Fireplace card edged out the gingerbread men, but just barely. Those stockings on the mantle did it for me, but I also marvel at your idea to give a little glow behind the fire.

Saba, you really put us right there in the boat! I liked watching the space station cross the starry sky with you. And today I got soaked! Thanks for giving me cool places to look up.

Carmen, how did you ever get the idea to visit Cuba's fourth-largest city? I had never heard of it. Yes, we do make a good team for northern North America.

Pam, did you hear that sound like wind rustling through the blog? That's our sighs of relief that you called your union guy.

Elaine, is hecky thump a common expression or your own creativity at work?

Krafty Runner, I bet that Christmas morning moment you describe lasted about half a second before joyous chaos erupted. Where did you land in the birth order? Did everyone open presents all at once, or did everyone watch as each present was opened? Did all you kids manage to give presents to each other? I bet it was jolly with nine.

Love and huggles to all,
Donita

Hi Sue,
You are spoiling us again today with these two lovely cards. Saw both of these on your Hochanda shows. Love them both equally.

Pam – Pleased that you involved your union. Hope everything will go smooth with their help. Hope you are right and we’ll enjoy our 8 days holiday.
Elaine – How was your Coffee Morning? Hugs.
Donita – You really sounds like a reporter :). I had no idea that Holguin is Cuba's fourth-largest city. I don’t know if we’ll visit it. When people are saying they go to Holguin or Varadero they mean that they will go to a resort in the area not necessary to visit the cities. To be more specific we’ll go to Paradisus Rio de Oro resort & spa. So far, we went to 2 different resorts in Varadero, and another one, half way between Varadero and Havana and yes, we visited both cities. This time we decided to go to a different area. It is good that we didn’t book our vacation to Cayo-Coco, because the island was really bad affected by Irma.
Saba – We leave on Oct.6. Glad you enjoyed your vacation. I really enjoyed all your updates during your holiday and not only.
Laine – Where are you, Princess? Hope you are Ok, honey.

Good luck for the draw everyone!

Have a great day.

Hello Sue,
I remember seeing both these cards being made but the ginger bread men is my favourite. I think the tip of use the gingerbread house roof behind them is a great idea but it was the thought of cutting off the legs of the men that makes it stick in my mind!!
Pam, it's great that the Union are involved and will keep you right on the ins and outs (as well as your daughter, of course). Stick in there and I hope you have a lovely restful weekend.
Donita, we have loads of "funny" sayings, but it's probably the same where you are.
Carmen, I'm so looking forward to hearing about Cuba. Will you be rolling any cigars with your naked thighs? ha ha.
Izzy, believe Myra when she says that Saba is the noisy one. No one can get in a word when she's around although we do try!!
Elaine, I hope you've enjoyed your coffee morning and have some money left.
Maria, hope you are in less pain today.
Laine, hope you are feeling better.
PP, hope you are o.k. and enjoying life.
Love to all and cuddles if you want them!

Hi Sue and everyone

I love both cards, lovely in their own ways. The first one may just have the edge for me though, maybe it's the colours and the lovely fire? The gingerbread men or so cute though. They look great cheekily looking out of the hexagons.

Ecky Thump, well there's something I've not heard for ages! I think it was the Goodies who used it for some Lancastrian martial arts sketch using black pudding.. I walked nearly five miles to see the Goodies when I was about 14. They were opening a new Barrett homes estate in the village that I now live in. Feel old now, it was ages ago!

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

I just couldn't let a magical Twofer Friday pass without showing my appreciation in some way. What a couple of beauties, so hard to choose a favourite since both are fabulous, unique and inspiring. Love the 3D fireplace, it evokes toasty winter nights in front of the fire waiting eagerly for Santa to arrive whilst the gingerbread men are simply delightful, love the hexagonal apertures with the roof die as a background....really textural and an ingenious addition to the card. Thankyou so much Sue, I don't know what i would do without a constant source of inspiration from your card samples, my cards would be average at best:-)
Many congratulations to all of the lucky winners in today's draw, i am so pleased for you all....there isnt a die that I wouldn't welcome into my home in this release so i am sure that each and every one of you is thrilled with your prize. Thankyou Sue for your generosity, its much appreciated:-)
I went AWOL yesterday I'm afraid to say so please accept my apologies Carmen and Donita and thanks for missing me Rosemary though i assumed that you would all be grateful for the peace and quiet:-) Actually, I haven't been feeling too good. Had a couple of seizures and they always seem to result in a migraine so the screen on my iPad is too bright:-( Feeling a bit better tonight though after attending a coffee morning at our hairdressers in aid of Macmillan and eating my own body weight in home baking:-)....Allaine didn't make her truffles though because she was afraid of war breaking out with her SIL Leslie who had also made some:-(, nevermind, Leslie's also passed my litmus test and i am very fussy about cake.
Carmen, your holiday sounds fab, Cuba sounds so exciting! I hope the weather is nice for you, no more storms on the horizon hopefully, tell us all about it if you can get wifi honey. Hugsxxx
June, that was so generous of you donating all those dies but what a worthy cause!
Elaine, hope Helen enjoyed the wedding and how great to hear that Andrew has perked up, it must be a load off your mind. Good news about the coffee morning, what a result:-)
Myra , Saba and Maureen, you must be getting so excited about your meet up, not long now.....will the whole gang of nine make it this time? Haven't heard from Norah for a while, hope she is well.....hugs to you all my loveliesxxx

Hi Sue,
Two beautiful Christmas cards, the fireplace with the stockings hanging ready for Santa looks so cosy and warming and the cute gingerbread men is a happy card.

Hi Sue. Oooooh not one but two beautiful Christmas cards today !!! Gorgeous !!! Your fireplace card is fab and I really love it's 3D effect, I love dimensional cards just like you do !!! All the little accessories for it are soooo cute to. It is so handy to be able to fold the fireplace flat for posting, which I think is another huge bonus with this die set Sue.
I love your gingerbread card to. The little gingerbread people are very cute to !!! I love them peeking out of their Hexagon shaped apertures !!! A beautfiful card !!!
I think if I had to pick a favourite from these two cards today it would be the fireplace card. I think this one just has the edge for me as I really love all those sweet little accessories that are part of the die set. I just love the concept of it all, and it brings back so many lovey memories of Christmas times when I was a child, and hanging stockings above the fireplace, which I still do now at Christmas time !!! Thank you. Lots of love to you Sue from Tres x x x

Both of these cards are fantastic, but I have to say that I really favor by a small margin the ginger bread card.

Hi Sue

Two really lovely cards. I Especially like the gingerbread men so cute. I enjoyed watching you demonstrate this card the other day and loved the texture in the background from the roof tiles. Very clever.

With Best Wishes
