Christmas Double Day

Hi bloggers!  I have mixed a bit of the old with the new for this first card in our double day.  I couldn't help but pull out the Vertical Peace die from my very first Christmas release as I thought it just went so well!  I started by covering a piece of coconut white card with three shades of Distress Oxides; Fossilised Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick.  I cut both the Ray of Light Background and the Vertical Peace die out of this piece so I had matching colours running through both of them.  I backed the background with black card and attached it to a larger piece of white card.  I cut the Peace die in black and used it as an offset shadow and mounted it along side the background.  I cut the Three Wise men die and added a black backing by embossing it and then using that to hand cut it.  I completed the card with white and black mats and layers. The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two was created while I was having a play with several colours of Glitter Kiss.  I started by using the Snowflake mask on a piece of white card.  I used both the Ice Blue Glitter Kiss and the Periwinkle Glitter Kiss through the mask.  The snowflakes are fairly thin so they did not get a thick coverage of the Glitter kiss, but I liked that it added some colour to the background.  I wanted a bit more texture so I embossed it with the Snowflake Mosaic folder when it dried.  I inked lightly around the edge with Broken China distress ink.  I cut the Lace Snowflake in white and stamped a sentiment in Cobalt Blue Archival ink.  I used the same colours of Glitter Kiss on another piece of card and then cut the frame out of it (once it was dry).  I mounted the sentiment in the centre of the Lace Snowflake, then cut some poinsettias out of the same piece of glittered card.  I added two poinsettias and some Berry Bough to the corner as accents.  White on white mats were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7" in size.  Two completely different cards, but I hope you enjoyed them both!  All for now, Sue x

Gorgeous gorgeous two fer today. Love them both but I especially like no 1 for the sheer drama.
Margaret, lovely to hear your good news it was a long time in coming though but very welcome.
Elaine, I hope Andrews treatment was better this time. Big hug for him and you.
June, hope you enjoyed your visit to Betty's , it is a special treat.
Rosemary, hope you are still okay with your meds.
Pat, enjoy the sunshine, we had terrible thunder here yesterday followed by rain.
Still nothing compared to the US states in their storm. Those poor people are really suffering, it will take a long time to recover from it.
Laine, I agree that old man is a menace, if the police won't do anything can the RSPCA, they have the power to prosecute in cases of animal cruelty. Hooe you are following medical advice. I had another blood test yesterday for liver function test.
Donita, you did give me such a laugh, what a tonic you are.
My manager came alone bearing a huge bouquet of flowers and a box of special chocolate biscuits from her and my team. It was semi informal, she wanted to know what had happened as she was on leave and only got brief messages when she got back. Lesley raised some points which she couldn't answer so not much further. She said she would always do her best for me so I will wait and see. She will be coming back within the next two weeks, that may not be informal I guess. Lesley is studying our guidance compared to her own guidance. Thank you all for your messages of support, especially Jan and Ann, it was extremely kind of you and much appreciated.
Hugs to all, thinking of missing and poorly friends.

Dear Sue and Friday Friends,

Couldn't choose between these. So different. Both fabulous.

Glad the visit went well, Pam. If only it had been a huge box of biscuits and a small bouquet. I hope you ate them with your pinkie extended.

Izumi, you get the prize for being first to realize that three Pixie Powdered leaves are floating around somewhere. Do you think we'll see them in another card?

Getting itchy for the new release.

Thanks for the double Friday.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, wow 2 gorgeous cards today, love both of them although card 2 just edges it for me, I love the glitter kiss.

Pam I reiterate everything you have said above. I am pleased that it seemed to go well yesterday, thank goodness Lesley was there, she has her head screwed on.

Well my celebration at Betty's was absolutely gorgeous, was thoroughly spoilt, had a window table overlooking the park, 2 glasses of champagne, (had to drive the mobility scooter afterwards and didn't want to get done for drink driving ha ha). We looked around the shop first and oh my goodness the different variety of teas was amazing, they blend the leaves for you too, the cakes looked amazing. We started off with a pea, fromage and mixed onion starter it was delicious, then up came the food stand (there must be a name for it) we had 3 different varieties of sandwiches, Colin loved the Yorkshire ham ones, I had the others, chicken and egg. Then we had 2 lemon scones and 2 raspberry scones with raspberry jam and clotted cream, talk about melt in your mouth, finally the cakes, I took a picture of them and they are on Facebook if anyone wants to see them. There was a pianist playing lovely tunes, all of a sudden the waitress came up behind me with a cake with a candle in and he played happy birthday, everyone clapped, it was the icing on the cake for me. Had such a wonderful time.

Enough about me, looks like CE are taking over hochanda for a day because julia watts is filming also, looking forward to that.

Off into skipton today, there is a samuel taylor there, might find something I absolutely NEED. Then a trip round the market, which is big.

Stay safe, healthy and happy hugs June Smith xxxx

Pam, so glad Lesley is on the ball for you, sometimes another person outside the equation can see things so differently and make special points on your behalf. But what a wonderful gesture your manager made with the flowers and choccy bics.

Gurt big uns (((((hugs))))) to everyone who needs one today whether it be illness, discomfort, pain, loss or just because. I hope your day becomes kinder to you.

Hi Sue,

Two fabulous cards, love the mix of old and new on the first...but while studying the close-up pics I realised that the "yonder star" is actually an oncoming train - someone should tell those old gents to GET OFF THE TRACKS!!, I'm not on the happy juice yet, just strong coffee...

...and the second card has now confirmed which Glitter Kiss colours I need to invest in first, just love the Ocean Spray and Periwinkle together, absolutely lush, especially on the frame surrounding the sentiment - I'm particularly drawn to that because I'm itching to try the hex shapes in the Lace Snowflake set with my Pacific Islands hexes...

Pam - what a pleasant surprise!....still, I don't need to tell you to beware of Greeks (and managers) bearing gifts do I?...

Hi Sue,
What a great way to start off a Friday. Both cards are beautiful and so different. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us.
Pam – Glad the visit went well and you got unexpected gifts. Why she’s planning to come back? Is it legal? Is not to stressful for you? Hope Lesley will find a way to keep them away from you. A big hug for you and your daughter.
Donita – I agree with Pam 100%, you are such a tonic! Love to read your comments and you always make me smile.
June – So happy for you! So yummy everything. I checked on the net to see if we have anything similar in Toronto and apparently, we have. Maybe I should try it one day.
Elaine – Happy belated Anniversary and lots of hugs for the both of you! Oh dear, I feel for Andrew. Does he like or can tolerate tofu? You can make tofu omelets (no eggs needed) with some grilled or steam vegetables on the side (ex: asparagus), or tofu quiche with lots of vegetables (sun-dried tomato, mushroom, and spinach), fresh avocado or spreadable … Check some vegetarian menus on the net, for sure you’ll find more ideas; sorry I couldn’t help more.
PP – Send you hugs and good wishes.
Laine – Does a hug help to make you feel better?

Sending love and hugs to all who need them

Hello Sue,
Two simply stunning cards, I can't decide which one I like best. The distress oxides have created a fabulous sun set effect as a backdrop to the 3 kings and the vertical peace die compliments it beautifully. The glitter kiss though looks equally fabulous on the snowflake card and I love your poinsettias with their shades of blue. The whole card has such a wintry feel to it. Impossible to choose between them!

Pam I'm glad all went well and your manager had the decency to come bearing gifts, please consider having your union rep there for the next visit though, I really don't think they should be pestering you at home when you are obviously unwell.
June your visit to Betty's sounded wonderful, I'll be in Harrogate over the next few days and on Tuesday will be passing through
Skipton and will definitely be calling into Samuel Taylor's. Then onto Settle for a couple of days at our cottage! I'm following you around.
Laine I was sorry to read your bloods were a bit iffy, please try to get some protein into your system and get well again. As to the horrid man it's just so wicked, I do think the RSPCA would be interested to know what he is up to. When you speak to PP give her a hug from me.
Elaine belated good wishes for your anniversary, I'm so sad for you, it must have been upsetting knowing John hadn't remembered, hope memories of happier anniversaries helped a little. Do try the Macmillan nurses, they are brilliant and would be able to give Andrew some advice.
Pat L, you must be very proud of Sarah, she is a remarkable little girl. Many congratulations to her.
Izzy, whatever you are on can I have some too!
Brenda I bet you can't wait to see your granddaughter and hear all about her trip to Brazil. Hope they are home on time.
Love and hugs for all

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Ooh, I LOVE twofer Fridays with a passion, i get excited in an embarrassingly girly, giggly way that does my street cred no favours whatsoever! I am filled with excited anticipation as i log on and the thrill of the reveal as the page loads is almost orgasmic:-) Today's double delight exceeded all expectations, the striking colours of card one jumped out the screen at me slapping me on the chops in the process! I love how you have brought some old favourites into play, the peace die looks stunning in those strong vibrant sunset colours backed by the obligatory black card and the three wise men stand proudly against the scrumptious ray of light die...i havent got the inks that you used and would appreciate a demo of the technique at some point if possible because the overall effect is to die for.
Card two stands proudly, an equal on every level to its very different partner today.....i could never choose between them, since as always they are individuals that are admired in their own right and both deserve pride of place on my mantelpiece....just a thought:-)
I love the background, using the stencil before embossing is inspired and creates an eye catching focal point. The glitter kissed poinsettias really steal the show though, they are adorable, overall a real frosty delight. As always, an embarrassment of goodies Sue that i am so grateful you shared with us, thankyou so muchxxx
Elaine, congrats on your wedding anniversary, that's an impressive number of years on the clock! I felt a little sad for you though, it must be hard coping with Johns memory difficulties, he would be gutted if he knew that he'd forgotten such an important milestone. Poor Andrew, i can empathise with his struggle to eat, particularly at breakfast time. Bananas are an excellent source of potassium and could be baked with honey or maple syrup, have that with yoghurt or pancakes maybe. I have tried cereal bars too, you get so many varieties on the market and most of them don't taste like sawdust surprisingly. What about crumpets and jam , croissants and Danish pastries or yoghurt with a palatable cereal sprinkled on top? Sometimes i just throw the rule book out the window and have something like cheesecake, a choux bun or trifle without the cream, anything so that I don't start the day running on empty. What about dried fruit and nuts with yoghurt too? Hope you find a solutionxxx
Pam, what a surprise! Although, why on earth does she need to come back in a fortnight? It beggars belief and i wonder if she really does have your best interests at heart. Glad Lesley was there for moral support though, do take carexxx
June, your tea sounded delicious, i am so envious:-) hope you enjoy the rest of your mini break.
Carmen, well, slap me on the bottom and call me Trevor!, how surprised was i to receive you trans Atlantic cuddles....very much appreciated though i have to say, and a big sloppy kiss back in your direction, if that's not too informal:-)
Pat, well done Sarah! She is such a little superstar, you must be so proud!
Hugs to all my besties and those just in need of a gentle sqeezexxx

Hi Sue Two fabulous Christmas cards I love them both I have all of the dies so will have to give them a try The colours you used on the first card are really stunning and I love the glitter kiss colours on the second card I don't have any glitter kiss I really should get some.
Pam I'm glad your meeting went alright hope you are enjoying the biscuits and flowers but I don't see why you should have a second visit you should be allowed to rest without harassment from managers
Elaine congratulations on your 54th wedding anniversary how amazing, so sorry John's memory is declining it's a difficult journey for you both - sending you big hugs. I have been trying to think of options for Andrew to try for breakfast but Laine has given you quite a lot of good suggestions, the only other thing I can think of is granola with fresh fruit and yoghurt I hope he manages to find something nutritious he can eat
June sounds like your tea at Betty's was sublime made my mouth water!!
Sending good wishes to all

Hi Sue
Two beautiful cards! It's lovely how your 'old' dies work perfectly with your new ones. The colours on both cards are gorgeous and I love both cards equally.

Good morning all.
I love both of your cards Sue. In fact I love nearly all of your cards and I really need to lock my debit card away.

From today's comments I think maybe June and Saba are not too far from me. Have you heard of Coppull or Chorley? My Son lives in Longridge and often takes a motorbike ride around Skipton and Settle
I'm trying to buy the Pointessia embossing folder that Sue used a few days ago but can only find Tim Holz I think it was and the shipping would be fifteen dollars so I didn't buy
