Thanks

Hello crafters!  This card was another request, this time by a lovely lady and her daughter that I met at Ally Pally.  It is a really simple card, designed that way in fact, just to show off the micro beaded bow.  I started by simply stamping my sentiment in black in the upper corner of a piece of coconut white card and then embossing the card using my Art Deco Fanfare embossing folder.  That is the background sorted!  Next I cut two of the "ribbon" die that comes with the Classic Bow die set out of periwinkle blue card.  I demoed this card to show not only how to micro bead the bow but also, how to make the ribbon stretch to cover a longer card.  It should be mentioned here too that I have had several people ask me why I didn't just make the die longer so it would work easier with larger cards?  The answer is that it increases the costs of the dies and I was really trying to be as thrifty as possible.  Every extra millimetre raises the cost so it is always a sort of balancing act between getting them the size you want to do some nice things with and also keeping the price as reasonable as possible.  With this ribbon I felt that it was easy enough to cut the die and lengthen it underneath the bow so it looked longer and that is just what I have done here.  I cut the vertical ribbon and put the larger part to the top of the card and the smaller end to the bottom of the card, then I ran the horizontal ribbon through the space and covered the cut lines with the actual bow.  You can't see it at all this way and it accomplishes what I wanted it to do,so I was quite happy with that.  Now for the bow, first I stamped the matching Floral bow stamp using a clear Perfect Medium pad and heat embossed it with white powder.  Next I used the "waste" from a previously cut Classic bow die to make a template and taped it over my stamped image, centring it so that it was nice and even all the way around (it does not fit snug to the stamp because the stamp was designed not to cover the piercing holes in the die).  I taped only one side of the waste, creating a hinge and then folded it backwards and creased it.  Next I covered the stamped area with a sticky self adhesive sheet cut to size, then I folded my "waste" template back over the area and taped the other side down.  I slotted the die back into place and cut out the image.  I peeled the backing paper off and dipped it in my micro beads and covered it.  I did this for both the bow and the tails.  I used Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue on the ends and centre of the back of the bow and let it get good and tacky, then brought the ends around, creating the loops of the bow and glued them to the centre.  I added the die cut (non stamped) wrap piece to the bow, then glued the tails to the back and attached it to my card.  I added the double white pierced mat with a thin periwinkle edge to finish the card.  Finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue
Simply gorgeous! The periwinkle colour card you've used is very pretty. I love how you've done the bow another thing to go on my 'to try list'. The Art Deco embossing folder is one of my favourites. The ribbon is easy to extend I either add a bow, flower or a die cut. Thank you for keeping the cost down for us.

Hi Sue. I love this gorgeous card. It shows off the beautiful micro beaded bow, "ribbon" and the gorgeous Art Deco Fanfare embossing folder beautifully. It is also a great card for the ladies that don't like all of the "flowers and frilly bits" as I call it.
Sending Pam my daily hug : )
Hugs for all that are in need today, including Gail, Jean and Tina.
Julie, it is lovely to see you back, so pleased to hear that your eyes are on the mend : )
Cameeli, I hope the appointment comes through quickly : )
Steph, you should soon be home now : )
Norah, sorry to hear that your lad has conjunctivitis. Anyone with half a brain is aware how it spreads, especially among children. If it's not contagious why does half of a class all get it one after another? It really does make you wonder how some doctors get away with saying what they do! The wool will still be there, waiting to pop out at you, when you get around to it : ) We have sun here again today, I hope your hills are clear and sunny too : )
Janet/Ecco, I hope you got on ok with the gilding flakes and didn't sneeze at the wrong moment! : )
Maureen Killen, sadly, the "no-calorie" cake is just a little joke we have on here : )
I hope everyone has a good day. Take care.

Good morning Sue & my lovely blog friends,
Today's card.....well any card would have bits work cut out following yesterday's wonderful creation, I am still bowled over by its loveliness, not sure if it's the colours or the combination of dies! But I do like today's card, sheer understated beauty, clean lines, no fussiness, perfect for many occasion, I have that ribbon die and I have to say I use it a lot more than I thought I would.
Cameeli, good morning my dear, I do hope your appointment comes quickly, your daily words make my day, as I said yesterday you are the first person to make me smile each day. So feet up,head down and relax, or the other round!
Sue, my grand Calibur finally turned up, I couldn't believe it, the thing I found most exciting was using that new white plate!
Julie I hope you are getting stronger every day, hugs to lee too.
Margaret, hugs to you, please pass on my hugs to Steph, I hope all is going well for her.
My dear Cherub Norah, floating on your cloud of wool,
I hope you are a little more rested after your somewhat exhausting experience!
Lynda, sorry to hear about your eyes too, hugs to you, Bella & Milo, send paw high fives to Annie & Bambi, (high fives) is their latest trick, lol x
Super big hugs to Pam, Mrs B & all of you lovely, lovely ladies,
Sandra, (laying on bed with kitten on my head, purring so loud, I can't hear myself think! Breakfast time I think) xxx

Hi Sue, beautiful understated card. I love the simplicity of it . Periwinkle blue is such a lovely colour, never thought to use micro beads on your bow dies so thanks for that. Lol lynne m x x x

Fur babies acting more weird than normal as both constantly jumping up at me and growling at each other. Sat back yesterday as head poorly, Tilly stood in front of me and I told her to give me some peace - not likely - she jumped up onto the arm of the settee and sat down giving me her " you will pay attention to me " look. Not going there I thought so just ignored her . Well she then laid herself down along the arm of the settee with her chin at the front and her legs hanging down either side of the arm. She looked like one of those stuffed toys you can buy to sit on the arm of a chair/settee to keep the remote controls in . Crafty girl cuz it did get my attention. Cully not to be outdone then proceeded to give a brilliant impression of a kangaroo jumping around the lounge. Where is my camera when I need it. x x x

Cameeli and Julie - gentle hugs, hoping all goes well for your eyes x x

I went to my local charity shop yday for a browse and found some craft stuff in a box so had to have a rummage thro - I was over the moon when I found a pot of CS Gilding flakes Sunlight Speckle at the bottom of the box - guess how much? think bargain of the week price - it was unused and a full pot - well, it was forty nine pence - so that came home with me along with some stamps, card, roses and an unused pot of green flowersoft. I also bought some pearl and bling bracelets to cut up for the beads and make some stick pins with - gona be busy me thinks! Sun is out here today but storms and wet stuff forecast for tomorrow - urghhh!

Hi Sue
Stunning card for today, I have mixed feelings today as it would have been my Dad's 89th birthday he was in Burma this time 70 years ago and would have been proud to be remembering all those that died but on the good side of today my Grandson Jayden is celebrating his 10th birthday, since he was born we have always had a joint party for them and my youngest daughter Jessica who is 15 tomorrow we still have a cake with a candle that Mum blows out and we will be visiting the cemetery with a card and flowers later today and tomorrow Jayden is having a party with his school friends and we have party poppers for Dad as he would make us laugh as he would pick up all the bits as fast as we popped them.
Love and hugs to all the lovely Wilsonettes

I must be the only crafter in the world who doesn't go head over heels for micro beads but they definitely do your bow well.
I love the colour scheme and as you may just know any shade of blue/white is always a hit withe me and your background folder is definitely my favourite out of your latest batch. I find my hands heading for it time and time again.
Now why oh why have I shied away from gilding flakes! As promised yesterday I used my flakes for the first time but using dds tape instead of glue and it turned out wonderful - even if I do say so myself -. I can now see gilding flakes appearing quite frequently on my gifts. Thank you Mrs B for your thoughts. Aren't gilding flakes wonderful and I managed to keep them all on the table!
Take care everyone and see you tomorrow.

Just lovely - clean-looking and elegant. I can't currently afford the bow dies but have got the stamp. Of course it isn't as good as using it with the dies but if you cut it all out by hand it still makes a very good bow indeed. I was surprised just how well it does work - it looks neat and pretty but I need to practise forming the bow to avoid creases.
Have a good day everyone.

Hi Sue,
A very clean, simple and elegant card today - I love it! I have done quite a few similar to this and they have been very gratefully received. The Art Deco folder is one of my favourites as are all of the bow dies! I tend to make 8x8 cards and I found it easy to extend the ribbon by cutting part of the ribbon strip with the end of the die over the end on my eBosser and then moving the die up and cutting the rest - not a good description but the same way as you extend an embossing folder pattern. The only one I couldn't do this with was the filigree one because the pattern didn't line up. Cameeli I'm so sorry but I forgot to say how sorry I was to hear about your eye yesterday and I hope you get the hospital appointment soon, but take care. I'm also sorry to hear about your friend - you are in my thoughts and prayers. Lynne hope you're feeling better today, I love the image of Tilly being the sofa arm cover! I have a teddy bear and cat sort toys on the back of my sofa and Scamp regularly sits with them and blends in so well you would think she was stuffed! Julie hope you are getting stronger. Lindsay hope everything is ok with you. Norah hope you are well. Tina you are in my thoughts and to everyone else have a wonderful day and hugs to you all. Love Alison xxxx

Love this card. Clean, simple and a gift in more ways than one. It is a change from your usual "bow" cards, which I do adore - but "a change is as good as a rest", so they say!

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Oh Sue, sorry for the epic tale yesterday, as it was a bit like Gone With the Wind, it was that long, sorry. What a lovely card you have made today, so simple but elegant with the embossing in the background to show off the ribbon and bow to its fullest. I haven't got the bow stamps but i could stick adhesive sheet to the top of a plain bow, take off the liner and stick a filigree bow on top, micro bead it that way and then take the filigree one off and glitter the over bits. I'll try it anyway see what happens and will keep you posted on efforts.
Oooo yesterday turned out worse than normal as i made friends with the floor when i collapsed, but 4 calls/last was a yell for help from son who came down and put on my MECS alarm on my wrist. Now why when he is in the house? Because he doesn't hear me over the racket that his xbox makes with a big help from him. A lot better today thankfully and i have my resident nurse in attendance today. We are supposed to be emptying my wool mountain that EU doesn't know about, but she is still in her kip as this point in time. Over and above what i have here, i have already given away 20+ black bags full off 500grams upwards of various weights of wool. I think it just keeps multiplying when i'm not looking but i definitely need to make a start today to help OH out before he goes bonkers when he actually opens the door or rather he just needs to unsnib it and it will open all on its own :)
Cameeli, i am so sorry flower that your brave friend lost his battle for life. He is at peace now with no more pain , but you his friends have that pain in your hearts for your loss. sending a big cyber hug to you that i only wish could be in person, but my thoughts and prayers are with you my dear friend.
Nanna Tina, your dad must have loved having his great grandson sharing his day and his great granddaughter almost. I can imagine the party being a 3way thing. Happy Birthday to Jayden and to Jessica for tomorrow. Loopy Lou here goes up on our birthday and sings to my brothers grave and i do the same on my dad's birthday. I don't care who hears me as long as they do. 28 years i have been going up to annoy Jim but my birthday isn't complete without him so that makes it a whole lot better.
Patricia, there isn't a feeling in the world like getting a Sue card, so enjoy it as much as i do.
Barbara, i can't work those rulers and scalpel either but until i have pennies again, i will use my fiskars.
Clare, did they put the sale sign out when they seen you coming as well? That is what my dear old friend thinks happens when i go shopping.
Helen, this blog is mine and a few more here only way to see whats going on and happening in the outside world. The people on this blog are off a very special kind of breed that cannot be found anywhere else. They are so genuinely caring about each other, take an active role to help, support and yes treasure the friendships that are made here and all because of Sue. She has brought me something that i have been trying my whole life to find and that is true goodness in people.
Gentle hugs to our fragile friends and those needing just that wee bit extra and to all our 4 legged bundles of mischief as well,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah from a rainy Glenochil yet again, with my black hills today.

Morning Sue I love this card and the idea of micro beading the bow but I have difficulty understanding how to do it. Could I ask if you could perhaps add a video on this technique as looking through the comments it appears as though I am not on my own in the difficulty understanding, I understand if it is not possible to do this as I know that you are a busy lady.

Lovely and simple just perfect for a 'Thank You'. The card really shows off the background embossing and the blue ribbon/bow 'pop out' beautifully.

Hi Sue, I know the bow should be the star of the show and it is lovely, but for me the embossing folder says it all. I think we all use our folders and then proceed to cover most of it up with dies etc., it is nice to see the full beauty almost completely unadorned.

Afternoon all, I am loving the clean look to this card. As was said it would make a fantastic new baby card. I had an attempt at yesterday's card and next week I am going to try microbe adding a bow! Thanks Sue you know how to keep me busy.
Been up I the daughters office all morning trying to finish getting the panelling on the wall just got the top and bottom beading to do now and my part is done, she will just have the painting to do and I might let her clean up after me too!
Julie so pleased you are back with us and that your one eye is now behaving itself, just the other to get to behave now, Lee you will have to join up I your own right as we loved your comments too, hope you continue to join us.
Norah oh love you made me chuckle as always, stupid doctors, and poor Rory, hope his conjunctivitis finds to door quickly, and will you keep on your feet, just a thought though, instead of putting your wool in those sucky bags, just pop it on the floor so I you will have a softer landing when your legs misbehave!
Cameeli, the opticians thought my eye pressure was too high so sent me to hospital for tests, luckily all was clear there, my late father had glaucoma so I am on a watch list for it!
June, Alison, Margaret and Steph take care all of you it was so lovely to get a Steph update, thanks Margaret. Lynne, you need to keep your camera on you at all times for those girls antics!
I know I have missed so many of my lovely blog friends off so please accept my apologies, love to you all from a breezy Shropshire xxx

Good evening Sue - this card is just a case of less is more and it is elegant and beautiful.
Rather late today as I have been having trouble with my MS I presume as I take my pooch for a walk and then stumble home calling out slowly Ozzie trying to get him to slow down. Fell over in the park and he thought this was a new game and proceeded to run around me barking and jumping on me trying to lick me. Not helpful but funny at the same time. So with a distinct lack of energy everything is taking longer at the mo.
Still an exciting day today as I have picked up my new car (I love my hubby) a bright orange Mini.
I hope everyone has had a good day thinking of everyone in need and hugs to all. Helen xx

Hello Sue
Slowly catching up with all the posts and gorgeous cards I have missed whilst I was away. Went to see a Murder Mystery play at The Mill at Sonning, our local theatre last night and the director was Sue Wilson! Is this a side line we don't know about??? Picked up my 88 year old friend for music rehearsal this morning and told her that I had been watching the D Day reporting on TV whilst having my breakfast and how the stories were so poignant - she turned to me and said that although these times should be remembered it was very difficult because she lost her fiancee on D Day! I didn't say that I had been widowed at 20 so I knew just how it felt at that age. Happily we have both married and had families but the repercussions that war brings- even after 70 years is so sad. Then we went and sang some very cheerful Abba - quite a contrast eh??? love to all. Susan
