Wednesday Card Giveaway

Hello crafters!  How is this for different?  It might not appeal to everyone, but I was happy with how it came out.  I tried to catch the shimmer from the mica on the flowers and leaves, but trust me it is there!   I used the Justrite Applique Flower set and stamped the flowers repeatedly on to black card using a clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed all the images in gold detail powder and cut them out by hand (they are really easy to cut).  I painted them using the mica powders in an assortment of colours (which I forgot to write down so can't recall exactly which ones, sorry)  Jewel tones, let's leave it at that!  You just need to add a little bit of water to the powder and you have a nice paint from it.  I stamped them again and this time just cut out the centres of the flowers and left them unpainted.  I arranged all the flowers on to the card across one side diagonally.  I stamped, coloured and cut out several of the leaves and added them around.  I used a couple of different shades of green mica to paint them.  Using the tag stamp from the set, I stamped it with a clear perfect medium and heat embossed it in gold.  I added the sentiment in the centre the same way and cut it out with the matching Vintage tag die.  I mounted it on foam in the upper corner.  I finished the card with a pierced mat of soft gold, then added a thin black mat and a final soft gold mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x 8 1/4" in size.  Leave a comment if you would like to be included in the drawing for this card.  The winner will be announced on Saturday's post.

Julia Watts has shows today on Create and Craft at 10am and 1pm.  If you happened to see the gorgeous sneak peek she had on her blog yesterday then you will know just how pretty these new stamp designs are that she is showcasing in the shows today.  Don't forget to tune in!  All for now.

Good morning Sue
One of the first Papercraft tecniques I learned was decoupage, I used to love the 'cutting out'. I very rarely do any now especially since dies came out but this would be a pleasure for me to make. It involves some of my favourite tecniques stamping, embossing, painting and 'cutting out'. All of which you've done exquisitly so thanks for sharing.

GM Sue - love this and the mica painting is really effective - I tried this technique a few months ago and love it.

I see you only need 6 more Wilsonettes to make 5000 followers - so was thinking the Wilsonettes must know 6 wanabees Wilsonettes between us all? - C'mon ladies/gents let's see if we can help Sue get to the magical 5000 mark.

Hi Sue,
Not my favourite I'm afraid, not keen on the flower stamp but that could easily be changed to a different one. Also it's the black thing again! However, don't get me wrong - I would still love to win it!!!
Steph, so pleased you are home ( much better to recuperate in your own home). Hope you're feeling better and that you manage to comment soon - we've missed you. Norah hope you're ok too. Lynda pleased the eBosser sandwich worked! I downloaded a booklet from craftwellwhich had different sandwiches to use . It had more in than my original booklet had - I think as different folders/dies have become popular they've had to add more, so you could have a look and see if it's different to yours. Hope that makes sense! Crazier hope you are ok and you are in my thoughts. Cameeli, Lynne, Julie hope you are all feeling better. Gail Tina, and everyone else I've missed sending lots of love and hugs to you all. Love Alison xx

morning Sue
I'm not quite sure about today's gift. I love the flowers and the colours and how they are arranged on the gift but it's the black background that's putting me off.
Of course I would still dearly love to receive such a wonderful gift of a piece of Sue Wilson Art! Afterall I was always told when young 'you cannot say that you don't like it until you've tried it' and as I've carried that on with my family I have to say I need to see; touch; and hold it in my hands so fingers etc are all crossed.
Bit of a blustery day here but we have some sunshine with it so perhaps a good day ahead.
Steph so pleased to hear you are home and we don't have to convene the escape party. Hope you are not too tired - Reaction always sets in as soon as you put one foot over your own threshold and tears flow. I know it always does with me so take a day or two just resting.
Take care everyone and see you tomorrow.

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Although the black is not my cup of tea, the beautiful cheery wee daisies have brightened and cheered it up immensely. I love the mica powder paint that you have used as it gives it that sparkle. Thank you for the continued inspiration and enthusiasm that you give so freely and with such love each day.
Lorraine, glad to see that you are finally getting help with your ferril cats. I hope you find the new batch of kittens to give them a fighting chance of being loved.
Julie, isn't it a wonderful feeling being able to see again?
Lynda, poor Annie. I do hope your balls of fluff are lighter than mine. Tia is terrified of the thunder and lightening so jumps up on my knee to shake...all 36kgs of her.AAAAAAAAHHHH.
Hey Sandra, maybe i should have Bella & Milos to sort out my keeping wool from getting rid off? Once they had a good roll around and play with the cones and balls, it would have cut down my wool mountain greatly.
I have to agree in your new training regime Lynne for the too horrors. Giving them an in depth knowledge of how gardening should be at least tried is a good idea and their daddy is just jealous he didn't think of it first.
Myra you were the wheel woman in our escape plans to spring hardened pain inmate Lancs Steph who burrowed out before we had finished gathering the gen on the hospital layout. Welcome home Steph, I hope that you will be feeling a bit brighter soon after your torture treatment that you had to undergo. I truly hope that it will make all the difference to you flower.
Lindsay, i will save you the searching down at the pond, because if i ever get rid of this toad i shall not be looking for another as this one has done enough damage to last a lifetime.
The wee fella's award ceremony was good yesterday and all the young people did well. It is great for a school like the Secondary Support Service to be able to turn the roughest and hardest of children into fantastic young men and women. Rory is the only austic child there but the rest of the children are brilliant with him and he has friends that all look out for him. He has the charm with the women since he first started speaking at nursery with the "you smell nice" for the kick off line. Or "you look very pretty Miss". Now being honest how many ladies do you know that wouldn't fall for that one and i have always had to get presents for ALL his ladies. Try 7 necklace and earrings sets each Christmas and summer term break up. Now it's down to 4 or 5 including the taxi driver who is fantastic with him and his escort who will keep him to my rules of behaviour. Some of the escorts for the special needs children give them sweets and various things. And they will let them off with ignoring good manners. I still think good manners is something that all children should be instilled with, even if they are not the best at everything and can be challenging, good manners counts for an awful lot and says a lot about a person. But hey i'm old fashioned which i admit and that was just the way i was brought up, but it is amazing how people notice. Well i am going to say that it is a beautiful day today, but going on this weeks record how long it will stay with us is a good question. I hope that you all have a wonderful day and if the sun isn't shining outside, make it shine from in. Take care dear friends and sending cyber hugs to all those fragile friends that need that wee bit of a hug or just need a friend
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Good Morning Sue& lovely blog friends,
Wow what a different look toda, Mica powders are like magic aren't they?. The Creative Expressions or cosmic shimmer ones are just so pretty, they seem to be packed with colour pigment so each of the beautiful colours just pop, they give different results on different cards, so it's really good to do colour swatches like Julia does!
Well we had a quit night as a result of the jabs, but we seem to be back on full power this morning, running round like Whirling Dervishers this mornings bless them! The vet confirmed what I had researched and we are going to have to ignore him seems mean, when he is being so nice!
Well it's my older daughters birthday this weekend and her boyfriend has bought her.......................................... A puppy!!! Oh my goodness, I can't believe it, what happens when they all clear off to work etc! Hi is a Yorkiepoo and they have called him..........Diego! Too many syllables in my opinion! So the battles have commenced, Milo has taken the role of 'protector', I am guess things will get better with time! I tell you I am a nervous, jabbering wreck, well I had better get organised.
Steph so glad to hear that you have escaped and back home, it's so much nicer recouperating in your home, sleeping in your own bed! Welcome back xx
Big hugs to to you all my lovelies, Norah, Cameeli, Lynne,Lynda, Mrs B, Myra, Margaret, Pam, Julie & Sue of course and anyone I missed xxxx

Gail - sorry your brother has had this setback. Sending you and your family love and prayers.

Myra - are you still picking up buttons?

Steph - are you really home or did Norah's escape plan work? Take things easy, a day at a time LOL

Norah - Rory sounds a georgeous wee man, forget his problems - his charm will get him where ever he wants to be! One of our grandsons has Asperger's syndrome
- minor problems compared to some (he is high on the spectrum) one thing that makes him stand out is his good manners, he will give me a big hug and a bigger thank you just fore making him dinner when he visits, and he never takes things for granted. Good manners go a long way, that was instilled into us by our mum and dad and I carried this on with our children, people notice when a child is polite, it's lovely to see and hear.

Just love this card. I haven't these flowers but I do have others. So will be having a go a making this card. I must try and remember to do them with embossing powders first though. plenty of tears Mrs B when our Rello's went home. Hopefully there flight wasn't delayed (due to leave at 9.50 last night . Flew to Abbu Dabi first , then onto Australia. Their son will pick them up from the airport. welcome home Steph after your stay in hospital! hope it's done you some good. Wow betide the doctors if it hasn't . They'll have us to answer to. Norah what pens do you use now for colouring?. As you win some spectrum Noir pens would be interested to see how they compare with pro marks if that's what you use now. Hugs to all in need today. Especially Pam and Cameeli , hope your eye is improving. Off to water your toms, ours still only have flowers on them, no sign of Toms yet. big hugs to. Steph.

This is one for me Sue, really a stand out card, thanks for the inspiration as always, some one will be lucky this week.
Steph so glad you are home, just take it easy.
Myra poor you havering to sort out all those buttons again, what a nightmare.
Norah and Brenda, I totally agree manners are everything, but cost nothing.
Lynne, my dog has now decided to dig his way through the garden, keep filling the hole in and then he comes along and emptys it again arghhh. Well done for hiding and telling them off, of course they weren't doing anything wrong really!

Can just say good morning Sue and all the crew.
For love nor money could I access this blog yesterday. I received the email notification but when it came to desperately wanting my daily fix every time it sent me to the Virgin search page. Thank goodness it's working today.
Another fab card. I love the black base. It draws you eye to the whole card rather than an element of it.
Well the sun is shining in Blackpool so I'm going to sit in it while I can.
Have a fantastic day one and all. Nice to see that Stephen is back home.
Lots of crafty love, Jo xx

Dear Sue,
What a stunningly beautiful. I love the way you have used the mica to get a gorgeous bright colour on the flowers and against the black it's amazing!

This might be different from your usual style but it's tremendously successful. Thank you for reminding me what I need to do with my mica powders, as I bought some along while ago used them once on some paper clay flowers then totally forgot about them till I was packing my stuff into boxes!
Now I know how to use them I am wanting even more to go back to my flat and sort it out quick so I can start crafting at home again. ( I'm currently driving my mum mad as I'm having to stay at hers with nearly all my craft equipment and goodies while my flat is sorted out after a major water leak from my washing machine which went through all three rooms- kitchen, lounge and bedroom!). I can't wait to get back home again.

Best wishes and thank you for the inspiration
Hugs,
Katie-Louise sweetlove

Hi Sue. WOW !! This is a very striking card today. I love the appliqué flower stamps as I think they are something different to the usual style of flowers everyone sees. I love how you have embossed with gold powder then coloured them in with the mica powders, just stunning !! I used to think using black on a card was a bad idea but after seeing many of your cards using black, I now use it myself a lot. It is fab for bringing out other colours, accentuating them (a big word for me !! ) and being used to make a card that is bold and striking !! This is a fantastic card Sue. I love it !! I love that vintage tag to. (It is still on my wish list.) The die set I bought this month is your faux quilled blooms, Sue. They have just arrived and look fab. The only problem is that I want to play with them right now but I have three men's cards I have make first !! Dohhh !!!
I watched your fab video yesterday and looked at some comments on the blog. I have done it again Sue. I did all that and then left and forgot to comment myself !! Many apologies, it's my brain !! It just does not work properly since I became ill. Well I really loved the card you made yesterday, but unfortunately I don't yet have that particular border, corner and tag set. I have the other two from your other collections though !! I may give it a try with the Italian corners, they are just beautiful. I do not have the flower stamps you used but I have the HC Aster flower stamps I could use I instead. Thank you Sue for sharing more beautiful cards with us yesterday and today. I love them all. Enjoy the last of your holiday time with your family and friends. Sending you lots of love Sue, I hope you have a lovely day today, love Tres x x x

To Lancashire Steph, I am so glad you are back home. Lots of love and hugs to you. Take care love Tres x x x

To all the Wilsonettes, have a wonderful day today, sending you all lots of love and hugs, from Tres x x x

Hi Sue,
Goode evening all crafting friends!
Good evening Steph - just great to have you back! Take it easy , so glad we didn't need to use Norah's Escape plan! x
Sue I think I have mentioned before that I am not keen on that stamp set but I do really like what you have done with today's card. I think it's because you have cut the flowers out. I too love Mica powders. Julia got me into those!
It is very dramatic and so different. I'm in the For Camp!
To all the ladies who sympathised with me on the button escape - Mrs B, Lindsay, Anne , Brenda and Norah . Thanks! They are still in a glorious mess as we just threw them all in any old how! Little boy looked and other children stopped all waiting for my reaction. I couldn't help laughing as it was such a mess and it was an accident! Everyone laughed - drama over.
Tres - I thought the same as you about yesterday's stamp as I don't have it either so I was going to try the HC aster one - great minds - or something! Lol
Anne sooty about the soaking! Hope the shortbread went down well .
Norah - pleased you had a good time at Rory's school.
He sounds lovely. I agree good manners are important and lovely to see. Thanks for saying I could be the wheel woman! Do you think some folks may think we are a bit mad? I don't care really! x
Sandra - welcome to Diego - wow you have your hands full. Don't overdo things, young lady! x
Sending love to Tina, Gail, Cazzie, Julie, Pam and anyone else who needs a hug today.
I've been on a Ladies Outing today! I don't really DO those as a general rule now I know why! Ladies but strange things eg, one lime green ceramic frying pan, one two pound loaf tin, one pound of carrots! I must stop - these are just a selection of wares we were shown today! Help I need my crafting buddies - we buy sensible things!
Love Myra, sorry for tonight's rumblings!

Sue, another beautiful card. I have used the mica powders in different ways. Painting with them is always fun. If I'm going to "paint", I'll grab my twinkling H20's because they have more colors available. I use watercolor paper and the colors are just beautiful. Would love to be the "lucky lady" to win this card.
