Thanks

Hello crafters!  Let's do a stained glass card today!  These are a lot of fun, but do require a lengthy drying time so you have to plan ahead.  I cut the Calabria die from the Italian Collection in white and added a piece of clear acetate to the back by attaching it with Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue.  I selected a colour palette of white, rose copper, sea green and dark emerald polished silk glitters.  For this technique it is important to start with the darkest colours first.  This is because as you fill in with each colour you add, the glitter will tend to stick to the sections that you have already done.  A dark colour atop a lighter colour will show through, but the reverse rarely has any effect.  I started with the Dark emerald glitter first and added my glue to the acetate in just the sections that I wanted to be that colour, then tapped off the excess on to copy paper.  Next I did the Rose Copper sections in the same manner, filling in the sections with glue, then covering with the g;litter and tapping off the excess.  I finished the piece with the Sea Green glitter sections then finally the Diamond Snow sections.  Once all the sections have been covered, this piece needs to be put aside to dry overnight.  From the front, you will only see the white from the glue until it dries and reveals all the glittered sections.  In the meantime, I prepared the background by cutting a circle in the centre of a piece of white card, then embossing the background using the Heart Lattice folder (which is due to be back in stock in a few weeks time).  I cut one of the California borders to add to the bottom section of the card.  I added a thin rose coloured strip behind the border which showed through the piercing holes on the die.  I added mounting foam to the back and once the stained glass section was dry, mounted it over to give it a recessed look.  I tied a double bow out of dusty rose frilly edged ribbon and added it to the side with glue dots.  A small pearl embellishment was added to the centre and two fancy stick pins were added to the knot as embellishments.  I stamped a sentiment and tucked the end under the pearl embellishment.  The entire piece was matted with a thin mat of rose card, then a pierced white mat and a final larger white mat.  Finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue
Fabulous card today, this tecnique brings back memories for me because I used to do a similar tecnique using glitters and peel offs. Although it takes time for the glue to dry it's so worth it. I love the pop of colour behind the border and the stick pins are beautiful. I am eagerly awaiting the heart lattice embossing folder to come back in stock I've been looking in Sam's and Joanna's shops.
Linda28 I'm soooooo jealous you got to go to Hobby Lobby lol.

Hi Sue. Well, what can I say about this one? It is in my top 5 of cards so I am delighted to see it today. The Calabria along with the Embroidered striplet are my favourite dies so these last two days have been extra good for me: ) I had already decided to use it for some of my Christmas cards this year with a poinsettia etc.So clean and beautiful, I love your colour choice. I am going to make a few in different colour combos so they are ready to make quick cards as I am so bad at remembering to leave time for it to dry overnight!
Pam, sending extra special hugs.I hope all goes well with your op and look forward to seeing you back at the top of the comments in a day or two. Thinking of Robbie too of course.
Hugs for all in need including Norah, Sandra, Tina, June, Jean, Tandy, Gail, yorkielass, Tres and Lynda.
Camelli, I forgot to say Congratulations on the wonderful news : )
Norah, I do wish we could see your mountains, loved your description yesterday, thank you. I hope you get your tickets to see Sue very soon : )
Lynda, it is hard being shy isn't it, daft really, but I know that for me it would be much easier to talk to fellow Wilsonettes as we have a common love of Sue and her cards so have lots to share with each other. I am looking forward to seeing you at Ally Pally hopefully : )
Sandra, thank you for your very kind offer : ) I would love to meet up before then though, I can get to you as I know you can't get out on your own. I will email you if that's ok. (I have to save up for craft stuff too, so frustrating when you want all of Sue's lovely dies etc, isn't it!)
Steph, hope all went well yesterday, I was thinking of you all. Now you must relax : )
Anne Crawford, sorry if you already know but did you know that Joanna Sheen will email when they get more stock in? Click on the "Read more details...." of the item that is out of stock and then click "Sorry, This product is currently out of stock
Notify me when this product becomes available!" They then email when it is avaliable. (you do have to be quite quick as it can fast sell out again) It was how I managed to get those "always sold out" dies. Hope this helps you : )
I hope everyone has a good day. Take care.

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
The colours that you have used to colour in the Calabri is very much C colours and would make a beautiful card for that time of the year with perhaps a red bow and pins and most definitely for a special person at C to enjoy. I think that i would do it in the jewel colours of stain glass windows as i just have a real love for that kind of craft. Oh, i am sitting here with the Craftworld page open and with everything crossed that i get a ticket. If i manage it you will be able to here me down south jumping for joy, i'll be that excited.
Pam take care and behave in the hospital and they might let you back home early. But i have a question, who is going to help you at least for the first few days/week as really you shouldn't be putting pressure on your foot? Take care lovely lady and i hope you are better after this operation. Sending you big hugs to wrap around you. Thinking of young Robbie and family, i hope with each passing day that he is getting stronger.
Steph flower, i hope even though you will be very tired, that you are still floating on your dream cloud from yesterday. I hope for Louise, that her dream day was everything she dreamed off and more. Please take it easy now that it is all over and recover.
Tina, you would have got on well with my daddy as he had a warped (his words, not mine) sense of humour too.
Tandy isn't it strangely surreal that one minute it seems they are a bairn and the next all grown up. I hope that wee lass had a lovely 16th birthday, or at the very least as lovely as it could be for her. I hope you are getting through the otherside of your agony as well flower. Remember that as well as mum and grandmother you are a person also and sometimes you need that wee bit extra too. Sending big hugs to keep you going.
Well i think the sun has deserted us as it is definitely colder here today, but it probably just needs a rest. Going to go and get some wine and flowers for Rorys escort and his taxi driver as they are always so good with him and i appreciate the care that they give him. I have no worries when he is in their hands as his driver drives lovely, none of this speeding nonsense, just carefully. Evelyn his escort, well she treats him like her own son and gives him a row when it's needed, but she applies my rules and it makes for a greater day.
I'll go now but sending hugs to all our fragile friends for what ever reason, and i hope that if the sun isn't shining where you are, it does from within.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Good morning Sue & lovely friends,
Well what a beautiful piece of artwork today, it's almost too good to be a card, you would certainly want to keep it out! I am sure you could use this method to make some kind of Christmas decorations and have those battery tea lights behind.
I am hoping for my second set of California Dies the frame set B and I also ordered the Pacific Lace Stamp from Sam's Creative Studios website (she has a good sale on too)! I just can't wait to get them all and play!
Mrs B I am more than happy to meet up before hand, do you drive? You can come to me or we can meet in Witney for coffee? I hope you get to relax a bit mire this weekend.
We have a busy one, we are off to my mum's tomorrow, she lives in Colchester, Essex, I love to see her but it's 3 hours in the car there and 3 back, depending on the M25, we can't stay over as I can't get upstairs to use the bathroom , this journey usually wipes me out until about Wednesday of next week, just through the pain of sitting in one position in the car for so long. Then on Sunday we have a football tournament in Swindon, ( my daughters are keen footballers)! They don't bite though! Haha!
Norah I hope you get your tickets, meeting Sue in person is a delight, I could sit and watch her craft all day.
Steph I hope you had the most amazing day yesterday, now time to relax, you have had a very busy few weeks and sometimes it's the adrenaline that keeps us going and then your body just says stop! So put your feet up or get in your craft room, however you find it easy to have a little 'you' time!
Pam, I hope all goes well today and that whatever it is that you are going through eases your suffering, I am sure your mind is thousands of miles away right now, but Robbie is in the best place and he is in safe hands, time for you to think about you, big hugs to you xxx
I have had to get up four times whilst writing this post as Bella & Milo have discovered window sills! Most of the I gave cleared, the others they have cleared for me, right now I am considering binding their legs together! (Only joking) I couldn't even think about any harm coming to them! But as they are getting bigger they are certainly keeping us on our toes!
Big hugs to you all,
Sandra xxx

Good morning Sue,
and all the ladies. This is a beautiful card, but like Susan, glitter and I have an odd relationship. I'm still wiping it off my nose and cheeks after using it two days ago - and I have been showered in between times! I hope you are well Sue, and getting some r & r.
Well I am late posting today but have been very busy. Girls off to school, housework done and Gas man repairing boiler. Any minute he's going to call and tell me how much we owe him - that's no craft spending for me for some time because he said yesterday that the part required was over £300 with labour on top eek!!!
Camelli - being a Grandma is fantastic, it's like no other love I have ever known.
Steph - I hope you all had a lovely day and that you are not too exhausted.
Pam, get well soon, and prayers offered for Robbie.
Norah, I love your blog.

Ah Sue that is A1! Those colours really grab me. At first glance I came to the conclusion that you had die cut 5 pieces of coloured card separately and then 'jig sawed' all the pieces into a pattern. (Wrong again Mary!) As always Sue your card is absolutely beautiful. Thank you for the detailed instructions.

Hi Sue,
The stained glass effect is always a winner. I can imagine this card used for many celebrations.

Hi Sue, I Just Love today's Card it's so Extremely Rich and Opulent.
I really Love The Calabria Die from your California Collection, I really Love The Awesome Rich Colours you have chosen for today's card!
With The White/Rose Copper/Sea Green/Dark Emerald, Glitters. I just Love this Card and I remembered you did a similar one on your Video's obviously not using the same Colours, but using The Glitters and I really Loved it then, and because I put all your Techniques on my Computer so I could go straight to the one I was referring to, and I also keep the Date so it makes it so much easier, I like having The Video's to refer back to it really helps if your anything like me!
I can remember you showing us the reverse side and it looks extremely different from the Beautiful Front.
Sue Thank For The great every day Tips and Techniques, I'm so looking forward to the next Video's where you mentioned on Create and Craft it'll be more Tips and Techniques which will be great!
Thanks for Today's Card, Thanks for the great photography, Thanks for The Daily Inspiration You Give To Me Daily, Thanks For This Awesome Blog.
Sue Take Great Care
Love and Hugs

Hi Sue,
This is another absolute stunner! I love that die. Would make a nice Christmas card with a few minor adjustments!
Norah ! Whew! I heard you here in Lancashire! I'm a little stiff from everything being crossed for you - but hey - it was worth it! I am thrilled for you - wish I could be there to meet you! X
Steph hope yesterday has not taken too much out of you.
Have a rest now .x
Sandra have a lovely day out and hope you are not too tired afterwards. Sending love x
Maureen sorry about the boiler ! Ouch that's quite a bill.
Must go as we supposed to having Tea in the Garden today! Supposed - because it is threatening to rain - decision has to be taken soon whether or not to be indoors or out. So much easier outside - no clearing up really! Got about 20 coming so will keep me on my toes. Stopped for lunch!
Love to all,
Myra

Hi Sue, beautiful card again. I followed your instructions as soon as I received my Calabria die and have made cards using various colours. Anyone thinking of doing this, you really should give it a go. It's great fun (if a little messy) and the results are, as you can see, fantastic.

Glad you got your tickets, Norah, you will love meeting Sue.

Nearly the week-end so wishing everyone a lovely time whatever you may be doing.

Hi Sue,
Beautiful card. I love this technique but have not tried it for years now. I have the die and funnily enough used it yesterday with gilding flakes behind - fortunately I managed to get the flakes where they were supposed to be and not on the poor cat! I might just have to have a play with glitters now.
Pam hope op is a success and love to you, Robbie and his parents. Tandy hope things are improving for you. Steph hope you had a fabulous time yesterday. Love and hugs to everyone especially those in pain and those feeling down. Love Alison xx

Hi Sue, although I love the die and what you have done with it this time, my favourite bit of the card is the embossing, the border die and the embellishments that you are so skilled in using. Can't wait for Sunday at Loobi Crafts!

I can only agree with all the other comments, its a stunning card!!! The stained glass is so gorgeous and I have one of your cards that I won a while ago with this technique. It is so much better in real life, the photo does not do it justice.
I went online to Craftworld this morning and booked my ticket for the 15th, will be saving hard as that shop is like an Aladdin's cave for stamps and dies. Really looking forward to meeting Sue and Julia!!!!!

Lovely card, it is a technique that you have to sit your cards during, so that you are not always checking the card during the drying proces but is it worth the effort.
