In My Thoughts

Morning all!  Get your sunglasses out for this one.  It's a bright one!  I started this card by stamping the Ribbons and Swags circular stamp around the edge of my coconut white card using a clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed the stamping with true white detail powder.  I selected Peacock Feathers distress ink and inked over all the stamping, the white embossing acts as a resist.  I matted it with a thin white mat then proceeded to stamp another of the circles on a separate piece of white card.  I stamped a single time, embossed it in white then cut around it into a square.  I inked this piece as well with Peacock Feathers.  I used this piece for the base of my focal element.  I cut a Lacy Tiers die in white and mounted it on foam and attached it over the single circle stamped image.  I cut two extra white mats and stair stepped them downwards and mounted the entire piece in the centre of the card.  I stamped a sentiment in black ink and cut it out with the Splendid Circle die.  I inked it with Peacock Feathers before removing it from the die.  I mounted it on foam in the middle of my focal element.  I put the finishing touches on the card with a double white mat with Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue dots around the edge.  The finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size.

The winner of this week's Wednesday card giveaway is:

Aquarius!!!

Congratulations! Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Warm but rainy here today.
Gail, my love and thoughts are with you and your precious brother. It is hard to bear but you are a brave lady.
Steph, glad to see you are improving daily, you have the wedding to look forward to so take it easy.
Cameeli, I am up for a lovely meet up with everyone - I think there will be more laughing and chatting and not so much crafting, with all of our daily stories.
Daily hugs to Tina, Tres, Tandy, Cazzie, Jean, Lynne, Norah, Alison and who I have missed, I agree this is a wonderful blog,

GM Sue - love the stamping on this - lovely. Didn't sort my craft room yday as when I went supermarket shopping yday - in open toed sandals - I smacked one of my toes against the trolley wheel - blood everywhere and v. painful -staff were great though - went to Drs -they're not sure if it's broken or not or whether I'll loose the nail - so spent day resting - recovering from the shock I think - another little annoyance on Friday 13th! Cant bear anything touching it at mo - not even the duvet - so painful and I don't 'do' pain. Meant to be golfing Monday - dont think I'll even be able to get my golf shoes on my foot- we shall see - so beware supermarket trolley wheels ladies if you are wearing open toed sandals to shop in.
Off to quite literally put my feet up again today - happy crafty saturday all

Hi Sue. Oh Wow, this is stunning, simply gorgeous. It is right up there as one of my alltime most favourite cards. The stamps are so delicate, and Peacock Feathers has got to be the most beautiful colour there is : ) It reminds me of looking down from above onto a wedding cake. There's an idea, you could match the wedding cake to the card )too difficult the other way round!) Or do people already do that? Weddings seem to have changed an awful lot, (well, not the actual service but all of the other stuff) since I got married nearly 30 years ago!
Pam, my daily hug is sent to you:) Hugs for Jean, Gail, Julia Laz, Tina and all others in need for whatever reason.
Yes, Sandra I have many, many buttons as I also collect them to use on my cards. I have several tin full, but my Grans tin (an old toffee one) has the special ones that have always been in there that will never be used, just taken out and enjoyed occasionally Just the noise they make in there is a wonderful memory : )
Norah, sorry that you brought home someone elses legs from your trip to Dunelm, I hope you get yours back soon, but without the pain-wouldn't that be wonderful! : )
We had the most amazing thunderstorm last night, it went on for over 2 hours, not loud but rumbling on for up to a minute at at time ,and the lightening was amazing, it was coming from every angle and was incredibly bright, I wish I could have got to the top of a hill to really enjoy it! It is going to be another hot day here. Sorry for those people and animals that don't like storms though.
I hope everyone has a good day.
7 sleeps Sue : ))
Take care.

Thank you for a beautiful beautiful gift today.
Peacock Feathers was one of the first distress inks I bought when I first starting 'crafting your style'. It is so gentle but so so effective and of course it's another shade of blue so 'it's my style'.
I also love the simple shape and theme allowing us to change colour and for any occasion and gender.
Well it's Saturday; the weekend so where has the sun gone? I suppose he will return on Monday!!
Have a restful day Clare and definitely with feet up.
Norah perhaps we might put our legs into a bag together shake them up and see what happens. Perhaps they might come out painless!!! We can always hope can't we.

I don't Facebook, Tweet, do ebanking etc.etc.. I am old fashioned in that respect so sorry about that. Glad to see you back on the blog Steph - you were missed by many Wilsonettes - take it easy now you are home.

Good morning Sue & lovely blog friends,
Wow Sue I love the brightness of this card, it looks like a clear blue ocean, with the oppressive heat of the last couple of days I could just do with diving in! I love everything about the card, it would definitely brighten someone's day and stand out from other cards on the shelf!
Cameeli, thinking of you as you prepare for monday, what an amazing idea, making a little floral gift as a little token gift. Try and stay relaxed though!
Clare W ouch! the craft room will wait, maybe do some crafting instead!
Mrs B, wow weren't we treated to an amazing storm last night, was the biggest/longest one I can remember, the kittens did not enjoy it though! I am just hoping that there are no lasting effects of the torrential rain!
Well I must sort myself out and get in the craft room, I still have a list of cards to make, trouble is I seem to have developed a horrendous 'new' pain in my bad hip, it's like the pain of sciatica (which I have in my good side) but it's there constantly! My morphine medication that I take regularly will not touch it! It's so painful, but I must not give in! Norah I will swap it for the odd one you picked up at a Dunelm, maybe we could go there today and see if I can get an upgrade!
Sorry I hate to whinge about my ailments! But today ithe pain is taking over and winning! Grrrrrr!
Hugs to all of you my lovelies, hope the sun shines at some point over the weekend!

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
What a bonnie card you have made for us today Sue. The peacock feathers is so beautiful over the white embossing. Stamping the part circles around the edge just looks so pretty, but the pure white centre with the stamped middle shows up the other perfectly and what better a colour of card to name the winner of Wednesdays card Aquarius.... Well done. Enjoy your mini masterpiece from Sue as we that have one already do, pride of place for utmost inspiration.
Cameeli, i think that is such a beautiful thoughtful thing that your partner is doing for the others at the funeral when you both are going through the heartache of your friend as well.
Brenda, thank you for the including my beautiful boy as well in your hugs. I wish we could have the open house that you have but they know the toad too well.
Helen, have you tried one of those heat pads on your clothes or a hot water bottle that covered in a towel, it'll not burn you and might just give you some relief. Lynne, you could try that as well after your lovely girls have finished doing your excerises with you to keep you fit or fit to drop which ever fits the bill. They are just trying to keep you young and alert.;)
Lynda, congratulations on becoming a grannie to a beautiful baby boy. I hope that your daughter-in-love is recovering well and your son will be over the moon i hope with his new bundle of joy.
Happy birthday Wheely Bad to your nephew, 12 today. Hope he has a great birthday.
Ita, sorry my brain left somewhere and just couldn't remember, are you in hospital flower, if so i hope that you are getting better and will be home again soon.
Mrs B, you are a braver woman than i, because i would have been under the bed if i could, but seeing as i can't behind the settee will do me until the lightening passes thank you very much. I was in Alcudia, Majorca at a restuarant when it started and it was fully glass around us. Now when i was little, we had lightening strike our windows and shatter them so obviously i have never forgotten this. The silly old woman that i was with said that it can't do you any harm, well i didn't wait long enough to find out, i up sticks and ran back to the hotel, i was terrified. But hey this is the same person who's grandson thought it funny to tell someone who was frightened of flying that when you went through turbulence that meant you were going to crash. 30 years later i am still a nervous wreck when it comes to flying.
Clare W, your poor toe and i don't think it advisable to try golf shoes on Monday unless they are bigger than your feet and you have plenty of padding around it. Someone rammed me with a trolley the other day when i was getting somethings for mum. Oh i didn't see you, sorry. Going to tell me how she managed not to see an almost 14 stone woman at 5'1". Crikey the michellin man doesn't have a look in, but she didn't see me, too much in a rush. The legs have decided they are staying on the strike the they started on Thursday, so just as well the derriere has some padding to get up and down the stairs with. The downstairs WC that toad is putting in will come in very handy for days like these. You know the picture that i give you all of my hills on a beautiful summers day, well i just need to keep that in my imagination the now as that is the nearest that the sun will be here today.
Steph, please take things easy, i know you are wanting to get things done, but we don't want you landing back in, please.
To Gail, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your brother. I wish there was something that we could do to ease the pain that he is going through and that you have in your heart, flower. Sending big hugs to you at this time and to everyone else that is fragile in one way or another, going through the mill with hurting. I hope that the sun will be able to shine from the inside out for you,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue,
Hello to all crafting friends.
I love today's card Sue. I have peacock feathers and have never used it as I thought the colour too strong for me. However the way you have used it is truly lovely and I shall bring it out of enforced retirement ASAP ! Thanks for giving me a much needed prod to try something different. I get in such a rut sometimes.
Clare - ouch your poor toe! Do hope you feel better soon and that it's not broken.
Sandra - you are no whinger - you sound such fun! I am sorry you are in so much pain sending crafty hugs.
Sending love to all the other ladies on this blog who suffer such a lot.
Have a lovely weekend everyone. Sorry about the thunderstorms! Seemed to have missed those - so far.
Love Myra

Hi Sue, lovely card today, so bright and chilled in colour just what we need on a lovely hot summers day, well for once it is with us today,I missed yesterday's card, just not sure where the day went, but it was gorgeous too, the green is a lovley fresh shade, thanks for sharing as usual.
Claire W I use Sues trick of putting a hat pin each end in the piercing hole that holds the ruler in place which makes piercing so much easier.
Norah, you get those legs of yours back, either that or pop back to dunelm and ask then for an exchange.
Lynne, Tilley and Culley hope you are all behaving! Loving the name change, take care and look after your aches.
Cameeli such a lovely thought from your partner to do arrangements for all the mourners on MondY, I will be thinking of you both on Monday.
June, Pam, Karen, Sandra, Tres, Tandy, Cazzie, Steph, Margaret, and all my Wilsonette friends big hugs to you all xxx

Hi Sue
Another stunning card today. Live the peacock feathers ink. However, it's a bit bright for me I think. Nearly bought it last week when I bought some Zentangle stamps from the shop in Wantage. Will be trying the resist technique though. Hope everything goes ok for you on Monday Cameeli. Now make Sue you have plenty of rest lands Steph after your stay in hospital.as you are not far away from me Mrs B I think we must have seem the same lightening storm. It was spectacular wasn't it. Not much thunder though just very faint rumbles. Although my daughters dogs didn't like it. Hugs as usual to Pam and anyone else feeling down in the dumps today. Hope you see your hills again soon. Norah. Keep up your musings Steph and Norah they both make my day.

Hi Sue,
Lovely colour on today's card, so fresh and bright, perfect for a sunny day. The stamp looks great used as a background. I'm a big fan of the resist technique myself and particularly enjoy using vivid colours over the crisp white. It really makes a card pop.

Ros Hodgkin said...

Hello Sue, I Love Love Love this card. It so fresh and vibrant. I will def have a go at this one but slightly different die. If it comes out half as good as yours I will be happy. Enjoy the sunshine.

Hi Sue,
Beautiful card today - I love Peacock Feathers, and the way you have used it with the white embossing powder is fabulous - tones it down a little. It is a lovely summery colour and brightens the day.
Clare , sorry to hear about your toe. That must have been so painful - hope you're feeling a bit better now and that it's not broken. Cameeli will be thinking of you of Monday. At my Mam's funeral we gave everyone daffodils as they were her favourite flowers and the mourners were really touched by it, so it is lovely that your partner is making little floral tributes.
To all my wonderful fellow Wilsonettes, have a lovely evening And I'll see you all tomorrow. Love especially to Pam, Gail, Norah, Steph, Cameeli, Lindsey, Lynne and pesky critters, Tina xxxx Alison

Hi Sue, love love love love this card. Absolutely gorgeous with the white resist and peacock blue background. The stamp is lacey and I'm sure could be used as a background on a ( dreaded word) Christmas card as it looks snowflake-ish. Can't wait till you are back on our screens as it seems so long ago that we saw you last. Lol lynne m x x x

Name change now no longer pesky critters but " give your mum a heart attack why don't you"meanaces. Reason why late commenting is that it has taken quite awhile for my heart rate to come down and the shaking to stop. I was leaning out of my bigger craftroom ( lots more space to add more stuff!!!) window to speak to hubby in the back garden and he asked where his precious girls were and I replied that they had followed me upstairs. With that Cully leapt up onto the window sill and put her head out of the window. OMG, what a scary moment I grabbed hold of her and somehow got her back down ( not able to use left arm much and Cully is not a lapdog) telling her that she is not a cat and therefore window sills are out of bound. Then the shakes started as I realised just how close she had come to going out the window. I know Cully didn't do it to scare me but that was the result. To say it was enough to turn my hair grey is an understatement. Told hubby that he can keep them downstairs tomorrow and I will be in the craftroom for some quiet me time.

Massive hugs and lol to my fab friends here in blogland. Lol lynne & mighty menaces to health x x ( aka pesky critters)

High Sue, this is the third time today I have tried to read the comments and admire your beautiful card but life kept interrupting! I love the style and colour. I know that I have white embossing powder somewhere but do you think that I can find it? I think it has gone the way of Norah's legs.
Cameeli, the floral gifts are a beautiful idea and I am sure will be much appreciated.
Clare W, ouch! I ran over my big toe a couple of years ago with a full wheely bin. I was convinced it was broken but x-ray said otherwise. Strong painkillers and the same open-toed sandals with the top buckle undone were all I could wear for weeks. Hope yours heals more quickly.
Congratulations Aquarius on winning Wednesday's card, it is beautiful.
Wishing everyone a peaceful evening.
