Christmas Double Days

Hi bloggers!  I have two very different cards for you today, like night and day!  First up I started this card by using the decorative die from the Poinsettia Border, Corner tag die set to cut the side edges of a piece of coconut white card.  I cut a double strip of pearls in half and ran a strip down the inside edges of each border and added small pearls to the poinsettia centres as well.  I selected a piece of dusty rose card (from my stash) and added sticky adhesive strips to each side, then coated it with Iced Snow and attached it behind my borders.  For the focal element, I cut the Filigree Poinsettia die in white.  I stamped my sentiment and then cut out the inner die from the set, but nipped away the poinsettia, leaving just the decorative edge.  I added a dusty rose backing and added it over the top of the sentiment.  For a floral element, I cut the Christmas Rose die set creating three different sized roses.  I added a pink centre accented lightly with clear micro beads I glued into place.  I cut the foliage and inked it very lightly with a soft green.  I completed the card with white on white mats.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  9" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is a fire and ice technique background.  I cut the Ray of Light Background out of a piece of black card.  Next I covered the front of the card with a self adhesive sticky sheet.  I turned it over and used Red Blaze gilding flakes on the exposed areas of the dies cut. I trimmed the outside edges even, removing any stray piece of flake then peeled the backing paper off the front and coated it with Iced Snow.  I cut The Nativity die in black.  I cut the outline shape out of a piece of card covered with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing off, attached the decorative die cut, slightly offsetting it, then gilding the remaining exposed area.  I mounted it on foam in the lower corner.  The card was completed with white and black mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 6" x  8" in size.  How are your Christmas cards coming along?   All for now,Sue x

Gorgeous cards, so hard to choose.
Heather T, sorry to hear you have pleurisy, please take care, it can be very nasty.
Patricia, happy belated Anniversary wishes to you and Mr H.
Wheelybad, how lovely to see your post. It is good that the hospital etc are being so thorough but it must be very trying for you. Hope all goes well, happy to hear Billy is so well and good luck to hubby for new job application.
June, continued good wishes for a steady improvement.
Sharon, you too and your daughter.
Tina, like June I'm curious about Peters new toy but at least it will keep him amused whilst he is recovering.
Elaine, how did Andrew get on, any news yet about his complaint also.
Happy Friday to all.

Good morning Sue and crafters all
Beautiful cards today , thank you Sue for sharing.
If I had to choose it would be no 1,
if my dear friend who recently died was a devout catholic so she would have loved no 2.
Pam - Peter got really excited about having a play with the compressor which he wanted for use with his Air Brush, when he assembled the parts found it had a European two pin plug, so off I went to Argos for an adapter. Got home then the airless had the wrong fitting so it was off to machine mart, Peter in tow and he went in for this.
Until this year Peter was an avid fisherman and made his own floats and lures but never got a good finish - so I bought him the airbrush.
June Smith - hope your walking is improving and you are getting more sleep. Hope the above about Peter's new toy helps.
Elaine - hope things are moving re your complaint
Love and crafty hugs to all

Morning Sue. I don't think I've seen two cards on double days that are so very different in every single way apart from the subject. I've always found it hard to make out the outline of the die on the fire and ice sample, but I do love how you do that technique, one of those many beautiful backgrounds you do that I've never had the confidence to try, I'm sure I will one day when I give myself a 'play day'
I'm still trying to achieve a decent number of cards to take to market Sunday ! But won't get anywhere near the amount I'd have liked to take. Andy, bless him keeps trying to reassure me that I've made the number I sold last year plus the few I found in my box from last year so I should feel pleased with what I've done in under a week, I've managed 17 plus one on the table with mats and layers cut ready to put through one of your beautifully designed folders, pointsettia cut and waiting to be sugared then a little bit more love to be added to it and done, so I'm hoping to add at least another 3 besides that then move over to the children's and baby's first which the onside will help me make a few of those so thank you.
My man is on his way back with 4paws so I need to get a hot drink ready before I do here is your Friday hug to help keep you warm lol have a good day xxx

Hi Sue. Love both of the cards today. I would have to say that I prefer prettier cards for Christmas rather than the more religious cards (I know that the true purpose of Christmas should be the religious element rather than all the fun side) but on this occasion I like the second card the best. I actually finished 3 cards using The Nativity die today...used one of your videos as my inspiration. I loved the way they turned out, altered them slightly. I also made cards using the snow globe die. These were fun...the snowman. I also have the little cottage scene and will do some with it. I had used the snowman in another way in a card exchange last month so several variations using that die. I recently ordered the Christmas shadowbox die set and can't wait until it arrives. I can see really enjoying making cards with that set. I usually make around 30-35 Christmas cards all together and I should be getting close. I like a mix of traditional, religious, and just fun/good cheer cards to suite a varied mailing list. Your dies have so much variety that there is something for everyone.
I hope everyone has a pleasant & restful weekend.
