Happy Birthday To You

Hello bloggers!  Another black and white card for you today (I just love that combo!)  I started with the Rococo striplet and using just the inside decorative die, I  cut it three times into a piece of coconut white card.  I backed it with black card to show through the cut out areas.  I used the outer shape die from the Sydney to cut an aperture in the centre of the card.  I set it in a diamond orientation for this.  I added mounting foam to the aperture piece to raise it and set it over a piece of vellum for a softer look in the centre.  I cut the Sydney die in white and recessed it down into the aperture and glued it into place over the vellum.  I stamped my sentiment and covered it with a piece of sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing off and glittered it with Diamond Snow then cut it with the circle in the centre of the Sydney die set.  I used the two circles in the centre to cut a thin black frame and I glued several together to raise it and make it thicker, then added them to the edge of my sentiment.  I completed the card with black and white mats.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Such a beautiful card, lovely.
Thank you for all well wishes, now feeling lots better, it usually takes few days to get over. Saw doc yesterday and he us happy with progress. This getting old lark is a drag at times.
Jackie, so sorry your daughter is not well, how much worse to be debilitated when you are so young.
NannaTina, how are you and Mick doing.
Elaine, such good news about Andrew.
I don't like football or any sport for that. My mum died when I was 16 and I lived with my dad and 4 brothers, so every sport possible was constantly on our one little tv.
Daily hugs to all especially our missing friends, Tracey and her dad, big hugs

Hi Sue. I think black and white is so dramatic so smart but not harsh with it, when I use this combo I know what's coming - the usual statement from Andy is " black and white ? Who uses black on a card ? When I come back with my one single word answer - "Sue" his reply is "fine, carry on then" lol.
I'm not sure if I have this striplet as it's been so long since I've done any crafting (I'd forgotten I had Gillian until I checked after admiring one of Johns cards last week) !! But I know for certain I don't have the Sydney die but it's our 37th anniversary this week so I will have to wait and see (that's if I've added this whole collection to his list's ) I really want to catch up with all the previous collections before I add others as I must have at least 20 ++ that still need adopting - yikes !!
I do love today's sample Sue so I'm going to check for this striplet and if I don't have it at least I have others to improvise with.
Have a lovely day Sue. Sending my usual hugs xxx

Good morning Sue and the happy band of Wilsonettes,
This is the card that we need for the opposite sex or ladies that doesn't do bows and other fancies that some of us like to do. I have done some cards without any fancies but boy is it hard not to put something, anything on just to make it our idea of finished. Now is it a black and white combo or a white and black i wonder? Classic monochrome looks like this is never out of style and this lovely card will be a beauty on anyones mantle piece. Thank you Sue for todays WOW inspiration as always it gives us that twinkling of an idea that sets our creative side flowing. Have a lovely day flower. x
Well i am happy that i have no jiggly legs or back this morning after Saturdays spree and i am back to my normal (if you can call it normal) pain level. It is a gorgeous day up here at the Ochil hills with the sun out shining once more although there is a bit of a wind which will just do my washing nicely out on the rope. I am away to wash and press out the white cardi that i have made for the wee lad for my step daughters wedding. I know a cardi, but she's getting married at this old castle and if it's cold the wee lad will need a cosy on. Kirsten has got him a little jomper suit with white pompom socks and little pale blue paton shoes to wear to it but i will need to sort out a horse shoe for him to give to her.
Well i shall go and leave you all now with hugs being sent to our lovely friends that need them, could do with them or just want them,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil )

Hi Sue, a most attractive card and a great way to use the striplet. I love the way you have used vellum under the Sydney die, it really makes a lovely soft background.

Pam - so glad you are feeling a bit better. I agree that with all the aches and pains getting old is no fun but it is better than the alternative :-)

Yvonne - you are not alone in being fed up with the football. I am so cross with the schedulers thinking the whole nation is football mad and re-arranging the schedules to suit the foorball and either moving or cutting out our favourite programmes.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Such a classic combination of colours, I love black on a card, it's so sophisticated and elegant....just like moi:-).....I am also fortunate enough to have the components of this beautiful card, it's simplicity and refinement impress me so I feel that it will be necessary to poach your idea and recreate it in all of it's magnificence....I haven't crafted for a few weeks so this would ease be back into the saddle so to speak:-) I love your use of the vellum, it elevates a card from the ordinary to the spectacular.
I have been very lax of late with my blog duties, I could pretend that I was on a fabulous holiday or even led a semi interesting life full of surprises and action but as I said, I would be fibbing:-( In all honesty, apart from fighting off the stalkerish tendencies of Yvonne, I've been laid up with a couple of persistent migraines over the weekend and felt it best to avoid any online activity.
I'd recovered enough to treat myself to a cut, dye and blow dry yesterday which fairly cheered me up....despite the fact that it was pouring down....my good mood lasted until that pest Yvonne Skyped me again:-( What a monumental mistake it was to let Sue give her my contact details because I have been persistently badgered by her ever since. I've tried to be nice, laugh at her lame jokes and pretend I'm interested in her dull life but I'm beginning to get freaked out by her intensity...texts, phone calls, emails, you name it, she does it day and night and now I've been pressured into going to visit:-( I'm nearing my wits end, any suggestions as to how I let her down lightly for I fear that she will have a complete meltdown at the prospect of my rejection....she may be overbearing and yes, irritating but I wish her no ill and don't want to damage her fragile ego. Any help would be appreciated ladies:-)
I too am fed up with wall to wall football, I'm a keen armchair sportswoman but this is overkill, when it interferes with my regular doses of the soaps then I have to express my outrage and displeasure.....I'm looking forward to the tennis and Andy big time though, not to mention the Olympics:-)
My thoughts and prayers go to the victims and their families in Florida also, such a sad and senseless act of violence, something has to be done about the gun laws surely because this seems to occur with alarming regularity in the States:-(
Pam, hope you're getting the rest you need after your 'blip', sending you hugsxxxx
Lorraine, I'm impressed with your work ethic, if only I could emulate your dedication but life throws so many distractions my way lately
Tracy&Dad, Tina & Mick, Elaine& Andrew, wishing you all well tooxxx
On an exciting note, aren't Sues new Christmas dies fabulous? Can't wait until the official launch but I will definitely be bankrupted when they become available unless I can find myself an ageing sugar daddy pronto:-)

Crafty hugs to all my Wilsonette besties,

Laine1972xxxx

Sending big hugs to Elaine's Andrew, Tracy and her Dad and others who are unwell, be they Wilsonettes or their families. I'm so sorry so many of you or your families are struggling.

Theresa W and Lynda, thank you both of you. Harder road than normal of late and hugs very well received. Sending you both big big hugs by return. Lynda, Billy sends lots of fluffy cuddles back.

Laine, I needed the laugh, thank you. Can't wait to hear Yvonne's side of the story...!

Im not able to share at the minute, too much floating round in the voids of my brain. I'm OK though, have a daft dog waiving his paws about while asleep upside down. How can anyone be unhappy watching that?!

Sending you all big massive hugs, I'll be back soon

Hi Sue What a beautiful card this is. I love the black and white theme especially with the soft white of the vellum. I'd guessed you had used a striplet but couldn't work out how you'd done the rest without reading your post fully it's seems quite complicated for me to try. I do adore it though. You are so creative and I admire that you always are full of inspiration to share.
Best wishes from Katie-Louise sweetlove

Lovely design. I can see this working well with other colours as I don't use a lot of black on my cards. Striplets are so versatile.
Take care everyone.
