You're My Friend

Hi bloggers!  I love the colour combo of sky blue, white and black (I probably use it far too often, truth be told!)  Again, I have chosen it using the sky blue as my background colour.  I cut the Ornate Octagon Striplet three times in white and glued the across the card.  Next I used the inner cutting die from the New Zealand Background and cut that shape through the background.  I added mounting foam to the background aperture to raise it for dimension.  Next I cut another aperture out of the centre of the shape from the centre of the card.  I cut the centre from the Wellington die out.  I used the slightly smaller die from the set and cut an aperture out of black card.  I stamped my sentiment on white card and glued it behind the opening in the black card.  I centred that and glued it behind the opening in the centre die cut and then over laid the background aperture over that so you have a recessed view into the centre of the card.  As an accent, I added a couple of flowers made from the Sweetheart flower open petal die.  I seated them around the sentiment and added some Lace edged Leaves in black as accents.  I completed the card with matching matting and layering.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
The black really pops the card Sue although still not for me but it certainly makes a feature of the sentiment and the gorgeous leaves. I love the lacy leaves dies, they are just so different when making something not traditional, that traditional leaves would look wrong. It is a beautiful card Sue, just not sure about the black for me buy hey i am slowly coming around to black AND i've been using it on some cards that i have made so you are definitely making an impression, lol. Have a great day flower, i hope it is lovely where ever you are today.
Good morning everyone, sorry i can't stay but a certain little party is coming to his granny's today and going out with her to Falkirk because mummy is working, and i know that he is coming in pj's and needing breakfast.
Hugs to Tracy & Dad, Tina & Mick, Elaine & Andrew, i am so sorry flower that i didn't know until yesterday of Andrews fight. You must have thought me so heartless but i'm afraid i was on a right down time and hadn't been on the blog when this all started. I'm glad that hopefully with the chemo just to go now that his poor ravaged body can now recover. I am sending a little prayer up that your beloved son slowly recovers his strength back to health, flower. To all Wilsonettes and honary ones as well i send hugs to all those that need, want or could just do with some,
love and crafty hugs

There is nothing on this card today that makes me wonder if I like it or not. The colour scheme, design and dies used are just beautiful. I'm sure black is the new white. It's the darker colours now that make the more delicate colours 'pop' instead of white being used as the enhancer. Gorgeous card Sue, gorgeous xx

Morning Sue
Another stunningly gorgeous blue colour combo card. Love it. Striplets, sweetheart flowers - yep got those - New Zealand - not got yet. Could I do a variation on a theme with the dies I have - probably but I prefer the option of getting the full New Zealand collection, lol x
Quick update if anyone is interested - boys still not talking. Really starting to annoy me. Both behaving like idiots and being stubborn. Trying to be positive in the hope that it will sort itself (soon I hope), but in the meantime they can carry on throwing their toys out of the pram. It is hard not to get upset but I am trying. Jake is away in Amsterdam this week so George is staying. Slagging off Jake is completely banned x
On a much happier note - I have a brand spanking new washing machine. Samsung could not repair mine and under the terms of the 5 year guarantee it was replaced. My new toy arrived on Saturday and it has been working overtime since then. Weather is playing ball and have had a choc a bloc line of clean laundry since Saturday. My only complaint is that the machine comes with sound effect's which are really annoying. At the end of a cycle it plays a tune - don't worry after careful studying of the instructions I was able to turn the sound off. I did turn it back on briefly on Saturday evening whilst talking to Laine on the phone so she could share my distaste of said tune x
I have tried to have a 'seeing what has been going on session whilst I have been away' session. Not easy when you have the concentration levels of a slug!!!
TRACY - I am sending you the biggest hug my love. Unfortunately we always tend to take things out on those we love so you are going to be on the receiving end of your dad's low mood. You will find the strength, from where - don't know but you will. Ramble away as much as you want. There is no right or wrong way to 'deal' with these things, everyone is so different. Just remember that you must still look after and think about yourself. Lots of love hun x
LORRAINE - sore feet - ouch. A handsome hunk and a foot massage would be the answer I think. Huggles x
NANNA TINA - sending you and Mick love x
JUNE - you sound much perkier than when I was last on the blog x
P - hopefully I am back for a while - banter included x
MARIA - I'm fine - couldn't charge my tablet. Hugs x
LYNDA - hugs back at you x
THERESA - hugs for you as well x
ELAINE - love and hugs x
WHEELY BAD - how you doing hun x
LAINE - look at me on the blog at this ungodly hour!! So impressed with myself at how early I am. Don't think it will be a regular occurrence. Prepare yourself as George has agreed to sort us out on Skype this evening - resistance is futile x
I feel like it is time for bed - being on here this early is a strange experience x
Apologies if I have overlooked anyone x
I hope everyone is blessed with beautiful blue skies and sunshine like me.
Love and happy thoughts to everyone

Always a winning colour combination Sue and I love the design. I am going to do my best to adapt the design as I only have the striplet in my collection. Eldest daughter has asked for a top up to her box of cards that I made her for Christmas so that gift really did go down well. It's so lovely when our creativity is appreciated.
Tina and Mick, Tracy and Dad and Elaine and Andrew, special hugs and loads of positive vibes en route to you all xxx.
Yvonne, sorry to hear the boy's are still being silly it must be so frustrating for you and something you could well do without out for your well being. Hugs. Enjoy your skyping with our dear Laine.
Norah, I hope you start to feel brighter very soon xxx
Well I did go out last night and coped quite well. I am afraid I did get led into temptation of the SU variety. Very expensive in my opinion though and I do prefer to mostly keep to creative expressions but the demonstrated is a friend and my bestie was going and Hubbard I could have a little spend so it was futile to resist!
Off to town to meet Mum in a mo and then Dr's later. My feet are agony now so I will stay and linger over a cuppa as long as I can.

Beautiful card. The black certainly makes it pop.

I noticed a comment above about the difficulty of using spray glue without getting it all over oneself. I have just started to use it and find that it is easiest to spray ithe die cut piece in a box (or a washing up bowl) and then pick it up with tweezers. I picked that tip of from somewhere and it works for me.

Watching the black clouds building up from the south and the first rain drops coming - wonderf if we are going to get the storms and rain that have not long flooded Bedford, the weather forecast mentioned they were spreading up the A1/M1!!!!

Sue i love the way you lay out your cards, they always look so fabulous and beautiful and this one is no exeption.
Just really love the detail and the lovely colour.

Hi sue the card is fantastic as usual, but the striplet die used looks more like the Rocco rather than the octagon, or are these just very similar
