Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi crafters!  It is definitely a girlie card for today's giveaway, but I know that some of you like this sort of style (and I had an extra from the last demos that I did on Hochanda!)LOL  I selected a raspberry sort of card from my stash and used the outside die from the Maggie set to cut an aperture in the centre.  Next I cut two Wellington dies out of white and cut them diagonally and attached them to each of the corners.  I cut four of the Aquila Gemini dies in white and backed them in white so they were solid and added mounting foam to the backs of each of them.  I added them around the aperture, slightly overlapping each of the edges.  I cut the Maggie die out of the piece from the centre and recessed it down into the aperture after I added the entire piece to a white mat (which shows through the Maggie cut out).  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the circular die from the Maggie set and added a bit of Picked Raspberry Distress ink around the edge before adding it the the centre of the card.  I finished with my usual mats and layers to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 8 1/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  Leave a comment to be included in the drawing to win this one!  The winner will be announced on Saturday's blog post as usual.  All for now, Sue x

Hi sue.
Oh what a smashing card this morning. I'm beginning to like the look of the Wellington die more and more when I see it. I guess I'll have to buy it at some point. So much versatility.

Nana Tina. Glad muck is continuing to improve

Yvonne g. Thank u so much for ur kind words. I've been missing ur banter on the blog ur so funny it cheers me up no end lol

Everyone. Thank u for ur well wishes for my dad ur a fantastic bunch and it's keeping me going.

Dad had a bad day yesterday. He was in a lot of pain weird bit in his groin. Painkillers weren't working but he insisted he wasn't going back to the hospital. I didn't know what to do and it's so distressing. I got upset and he gave me cuddles telling me it would all be ok but it's not really and then I'm thinking Erm it should be me doing this to u. He's not good with his feeling u see and keeps everything to himself. I on the other hand as u can tell tell everyone as that's my way of trying to cope!!
It settled after a warm bath thankfully but he's got to use his own bath as my one doesn't have handled to help get out.
Anyways a busy day today.
Have nurse at 8 for bloods. Dietician at 10.45 at house call then the hospice nurse at 1 with probably a few visitors in between.
Hopefully a better day than yesterday lol
I know there's people out there that's worse than us and I try to keep sight of that.

Thanks for listening love to all xx

Hi Sue
What a stunning card for the giveaway, I wish I had the funds to buy more dies and the time to play with the ones I have so I could try out all the different styles of cards to show us daily
I have the occupational therapist calling this morning to check out the house, sister on ward was asking about the carers we will need so things are moving but Mick says not quick enough he wants it yesterday, I was greeted with the biggest smile and hug when I got to the hospital which made my day he ate and drank well so hoping once dietician comes round she will OK him for the NG tube to be removed, Tracy I know everything your going through watching a loved one in so much pain is heartbreaking, Mick still has some bad times but the good are winning through and I would pop out have a good cry splash my face put a big smile on and go back
Jessica has a lovely day and came to see her dad thank you for her birthday wishes and thank you to everyone for the good wishes for Mick
Happy crafting
Love and huge hugs to you all

Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
Oh Sue, this is so pretty this card and i so love when you make a Sue Wilson because no one else can compete with you. I have never bought the raspberry card as i always thought it too deep a colour but the white on the top dilutes it down to an easier on my eye liking. The Maggie die in the middle makes such a statement piece recessed down into it like that. OOoo just a perfect card Sue thank you, sorry this is a quick one today as my little baby cherub has arrived needing everything as Mummy has picked up Uncle Rory and away to college with him and University for her so i will say hugs to all that need or could do or just want some,

I would just like to thank all who send messages ,prayers and hope on Sues blog , it is such a comfort knowing that people you have never met and only have a name for are rooting for you the blog oozes friendship .

Andrew walked to the Hospital door and back yesterday aided by the nurses { about 20yds } so a good start , they are talking about taking a couple of tubes out today and adding an intravenous tube , being as it is just 1 week today since Andrews operation i think he is doing really well.
My 16 yr old Granddaughter did the Run For Life last night in just under an hour ,she had her name down to do it anyway , but since finding out about Andrew she decided to have Uncle Andy wrote on her back. So proud of you Natasha.

Thank you all again
Lots of hugs to all

Hi Sue and everyone

A really beautiful card today. The colours are gorgeous. I love how the dies all work together.

After watching a pair of fantastic blue tit parents working really hard for weeks now feeding their young in the nest box in our garden, we were rewarded yesterday by being able to watch them all (bar one which unfortunately died) fledge. It was wonderful. They were so tiny and beautiful. We were very protective of them, I have missed seeing them today, and hope they are all safe. At least they had a lovely warm, dry day yesterday.

Hi, Sue,
Wow...it's Wednesday already, where has the week gone? Beautiful card, as always, Sue. I love the raspberry coloured card you used for the background.

I think I'm having a break today as it's another scorcher. I've spent the past two days defrosting freezers...no, I don't have dozens, just two. I did it in two sessions as I had to put all the stuff from one into the other while I defrosted the first one. By the time I'd finished that yesterday I was beat. Not only did I have to try and stop water from getting on the bare concrete floor (new flooring going down next week lol) but I had to try and stop the dog from running off with all the chunks of ice :). That was just from the upright!! This morning I tackled the little chest freezer and I have to say it went a LOT faster than yesterday and it's cleared of all the icebergs that were growing on the sides and all the food is now back where it belongs thank goodness.
I really need to tackle the craft room but perhaps that's a job for tomorrow. at least it's on the east side of the house, so it will be cooler in there :)
Happy Wednesday everyone.
Bejay xx

Hi Sue, what a beautiful card, I think if I had made it I don't think I would want to give it away.I have to admit I do get quite attached to some of my cards, and think I am not sending this card to this person because I know they will not appreciate it ( I know its daft)

Princess Pixie! said...

Hi Sue
Love this. In this colour yes girly but sure if you did a different combo it could be more masculine. Love the effect of using the Wellington as corners, ooh you're so ingenious. I really struggle to think outside the box so rely on you to do that - hope you don't mind. Now thinking of all the 'square' dies in my arsenal to see if they can be used cleverly to make corners. Thanks for so many fab ideas - what would we do without you x
Still playing catch up with the washing. Thank goodness the sun has been out to play. That said thunder and lightening yesterday forced a scramble to rescue a huge load of already dry washing. Mission accomplished but had to do the same again this afternoon.
I am a bit of a sucker for a good thunder storm so was a little disappointed that although there was plenty of rain the thunder and lightening was teasing me with gentle rumblings x
LORRAINE - such a good feeling when you know that your crafty hard work is appreciated. My sis in law was over the moon when I gave her a box of cards - even had the cheek to send me one of my own card's on my birthday!! Her excuse was that she really didn't like any of the cards in the shop x
PAT - lovely to be back x
THERESA W - thanks for missing me - makes me feel loved x
ANN - Sue has a knack of making things look easy - practice will make perfect with the spray glue I think x
TRESSA - tweezers - brilliant tip x
TRACY - bless you - if I can bring a smile to your face I'm glad. Busy day today for you - hope everything went as well as it could. You are going to have many ups and downs, that's inevitable but do not feel guilty for getting upset. I always find that allowing myself a few minutes to wallow and feel sorry for myself once in a while is better than beating myself up about blubbing. So blub away girl and scream if you need to. Hugs x
NANNA TINA - as I said feeling sorry for yourself and a good cry is allowed. In fact I would say compulsory in order to stay sane. Hugs x
ELAINE - it sounds like things are moving in the right direction. Well done Natasha. Hugs for you and Andrew x
MARIA - I am a little concerned at your comment which implies that Laine would need comforting after our first Skype session!!! What do you mean???!!! I think your worries should be aimed in my direction. The cheek of it. The boys - stubborn ********
- insert whichever word you feel is the most appropriate - I can think of so many. Sending hugs x
LAINE - you dirty stop out. Can't spare a little time to chat with your bff cos you're out every afternoon this week. Once we got the hang of our new experience and first Skype session (which I know took us forever to stop screwing it up), I really enjoyed it. I was a bit knackered after we both gave each other a grand tour of our houses. Promise next time I take you into my bedroom it will be tidy!!! Hope you've had a lovely day accompanied with sunshine. Speak/Skype/giggle with you soon x
Got the girlies coming round this evening - they will have to make their own and my tea. Going to leave the dishes in the hope that whilst making the tea someone will take pity on me and clear my sink - I' m not proud x
Take care everyone. Happy thoughts x

Wow Sue, what a super card. I love the Raspberry colour card. I think I'm going to end up buying the Gemini dies after all.

Tina and Mick and Tracy and Dad, you sound as though you'll be needing some quiet time after all the comings and goings today. Tracy you have a good old weep if you feel like it and grab plenty of hugs with your Dad.

Love and hugs to all

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Have I ever told you just how wonderful you are Sue? Hmm, maybe once or twice but that clearly isn't nearly enough. I hope that you feel suitably loved and appreciated on a daily basis because you are the source of such pleasure for so many of your loyal and devoted faithful followers....and I count myself as your foremost fan regardless of what that bother breeder Yvonne may claim:-)
You are such a sweetheart, toiling away for our benefit and producing a wonderful example of your genius every week for one of us to adopt. Yes Sue, you are a gem....as is your card today, but how could it not be when you have used some of your best dies to date. The Maggie is a favourite of mine and any focal point including it has to be admired. I too love the raspberry shade....it's evocative of the Yankee Candle scent Red Raspberry that I am currently burning along with Summer Scoop, mmmm......it would be great if we could get it in the Foundations range. Using the Wellington die to create a backdrop was ingenious and produced stunning results, as did the Aquila die as a frame for the recess, spectacular! When you are considering the winner of this work of art please bear in mind the fact that I am your most loyal and devoted disciple.........and I have a big gaping hole on my craftroom wall that is begging for something remarkable to be displayed there:-)
Wot no rain? We are still experiencing blazing sunshine and high temperatures in Stirling and I am loving every minute of it while it lasts:-) didn't get to sunbathe though, unfortunately, I had to attend an appointment to get my nails manicured instead....opted to go for winter white with a liberal dusting of sparkle, wise choice as it matches my pure, unblemished character!
Maria, I managed to survive my Skype chat with Yvonne but only just:-) I'm beginning to question her commitment to the relationship because whereas I made an effort to Hoover and dust prior to our chat and house tour, she had left a mountain of washing lying around.....admittedly clean given her obvious fetish.....and couldn't even show me her bedroom because of the state it was in!!??! Perhaps I should reassess her suitability as a hostess when I visit in September.......
Nana Tina, wonderful news about Mick, I hope you get the go ahead soon and the OT can organise all of the gadgets to make your lives easier. Having a blub every now and again is allowed, it's not healthy to bottle up your feelings when you are under strain, thankfully you seem to be turning a corner:-)
Lorraine, get those feet up and give them a chance to rest!xxxx
Tracy, having recently gone through a similar situation with my own Dad I have a fair sense of what you must be going through honey. Take each day as it comes and try to enjoy what time you have with your Dad, it's precious and will be cherished in the future but remember, we are here for you to blow off steam to when things get difficult, we are a family, a community and we carexxxx
Elaine, I think Andrews sense of humour will stand him in good stead through his recovery process. Congrats to Natasha!
Yvonne, step away from the washing machine! Just how many loads have you done since it arrived on Saturday? I'd suggest counselling for your addiction but I fear that your various other 'problems' and obvious psychosis may interfere in the therapeutic process:-)
I'm not being funny but perhaps it would be a good idea if you employed some industrial cleaners to prepare your house for my visit.....I'm just saying.....and if you think that I will be your unpaid skivvy then think again lady, I want to be treated like a respected guest and as such waited upon hand and foot so don't think you can leave a sink full of dirty dishes for my arrival!:-)
Huge hugs to Beth, pat, P, Frances, Pam, Rebecca, Theresa, Linda, Lynda, Jan and Wheely bad, plus anyone in need of a squeezexxxx

Ok. I confess. I love everything you do. Yes, I am biased. Deal with it. As Sue Wilson lovers know, her work is above all the rest. I just wish I could mimic it. I try. Maybe I will win this one to actually see the real thing. That would be nice. Myra from Florida, again.
