Interwoven Border Card

Hi bloggers!  It's Tuesday video day!  I have a favourite to share with you today as I just loved the way this one came out!  I'm sure you will no doubt recognise my black, soft gold and milk card combo that I am so fond of too!  I hope you enjoy it and don't forget to become a subscriber to the Creative Expressions YouTube channel, just click the link on the right side of the blog and it will take you directly to the channel to sign up!  It is ever so easy!  It's a two -fer day as this card has been on the blog before so scroll down to see the second card after watching the video!

Buy from Joanna Sheen

Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8 1/4" in size.

The second card uses the Taylored Expressions stamp set called Discover Your Wings.  I selected a piece of decorative paper from my stash and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off and coated it with micro beads for texture.  I wrapped a piece of black seam binding around the bottom and taped the ends to the back, then matted the background with a thin black mat.  I stamped the wildflower silhouette in Black Archival ink and cut it out with a simple circle die.  I cut a larger circle to use as a mat.  I taped them together and cut the side off and mounted it against the edge of the background.  I stamped two sentiments and cut them into forked flags going in opposite directions and added them to the card with some black flatback pearls on the edges of both.  I tied a messy bow and topped it with a rose made from the same paper as the background.  I finished the card with a double pierced mat cut from matching peach card.  Finished dimensions are
7" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. You keep spoiling us with Two-fers. Definitely not complaining though:) Love both cards. Great video, (does any one else find the music so relaxing?) the first card, so elegant and a gorgeous colour combo, using your beautiful dies. Thanks for explaining why you designed the different sets of dies. Just one of the reasons why your dies are so popular. You really did think of everything when designing them: ) I also love the 2nd card. Such a pretty card, wonderful backing paper and the Discover Your Wings stamps are beautiful. Great design/lay out of this card too.
Pam, so glad you feel our love and comfort. My daily hug to you as always.
A hug to all in need.
Try and relax now Cameeli.
I hope you are managing to rest up a little Sue. Take care.

I loved the video full of hints and tips thank you for that. I love the flowers made out of the backing paper in the second card so pretty.

You really are testing me with your colour schemes of black+ - as I've already said a lot of black is not my thing other than monochrome but I really do love the format of today's gift and will certainly be giving it a try out and I think my crafty friends on my craft afternoons would love to try this one too when it's my turn to demo.
It's a horribly dull and damp day here in Burgundy and oh have I a load of washing to dry - fingers crossed it may clear up so they can go outside.

Two lovely cards, Sue! I appreciate the discussion of the dies in the video about your intentions when you designed them and how to achieve different results. I've never used much black in my cards, but when it's cut from such intricate dies as these, and combined with gold, it's very elegant indeed. I also like it stamped and embossing with black as the sheen from the embossed design adds more interest and a richness that is also quite beautiful. And it can be a perfect addition to men's cards, which can be more of a challenge! So, with the beautiful dies in your new collections, and some of the beautiful cards you've designed with them, I find that I've developed a new appreciation for black cardstock! Thanks for the inspiration!

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Your first card is gorgeous Sue and i now finally have the borders to do this card with...hooray. The 2nd is a much plainer offering not quite me as (this is where the nutty part of Norah comes in)its not central. I am not good with anything that is not central as i have always got to straighten it up, even parking the card on the mono block has to be straight with them...see, nuts. The first card is so rich and opulent looking, so expensive i can't afford looking in its design and colour scheme.
June (Yorkielass) i think you were right the first time flower, i'm no good at bending either and the heavy in places, well that would be the body as a total.Hee hee hee.
Nanna Tina, I'm glad if i brought back happy memories for you with my little words yesterday. Until i saw them in Glasgow SECC 3 years ago with John Barrowman, i could never understand a grown woman dressing her whole life as a wee boy but, between them and John i was poorless in laughter, so have been back each year since.
Lynne m, you have 2 very smart pups there that don't want to get any wetter than is necessary, although i don't know what you were doing out in all that rain. Anyone else would have been up at the door to let them in, but maybe you were enjoying the rain too much(lol).
Lorraine flower, i would willing travel in your suitcase to go (pleading sad eyes), ok have fun and enjoy your break away.
Lindsay M, my eyes must be getting back because i miss the birth of the 2nd wee one. Are you expecting many more?
Well away i go to Falkirk as it is a beautiful day and my friend has to go to the vampire first, so first stop will be coffee shop. Beautiful day up here, but the clouds are tired, so they are resting on the top of my hills. Hope they wake up soon so that my lovely hills can get some of the glorious sunshine.
Have a great day everyone with gentle hugs and wee prayer for our fragile friends,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

I agree, the second card is my favourite too, the wildflower silhouetted stamp is so pretty and a it's beautiful sentiment. The first card is so elegant, great for a golden wedding anniversary. I love using the soft gold card, understated and not too bling. The roses are lovely too, (must get some of that tulle).

Morning Sue
I love today's Two-fer.
Firstly the black and gold is beautiful, but the second card is really different and I like the effect with the background and micro beads - something just slightly different for you Sue. Thank you for the inspiration!
Will watch the video tonight - now back to work!!
Enjoy your day.

Hi Sue, love the colour combo on the first card but have to admit the second card is my favourite. Just reminds me of summer. Going to try to craft today as I need to get hubby's card done. Lol lynne m x x
Norah - I was trying to get poochies to go to wee yesterday before it rained too hard and silly me thought that if I went outside they
would follow me. All that happened is I got wet through.
Cameeli - glad the shoes are sorted.
Yorkielass & Lynda - Hi
Lindsay - love the name of the second foal. Hope your rib has improved.
To all on this blog lol and hugs x x x

Good morning Sue
Two absolutely stunning cards today and the video, your generosity is really overwhelming thank you so much.
Your first card is so rich and elegant with an almost regal look while the second reminds me so much of a special aunts country cottage, she had some wall paper just like your background paper, I can almost smell her baking which was delicious especially her ginger biscuits, while looking at it! Thank you for the memory.
Cameeli so pleased you are organised, now have a well earned rest and take a chill pill so you will look your best for the big day.
Pam hang on in there you really are doing wonderful thinking of you each and every day. x
Warm wishes and hugs for those who need them.

Hi Sue,
Hi all crafting friends.
Gorgeous twofer today Sue! I just love the first card and what's more am going to copy it later on today!! I don't have the sentiment but can easily adapt that. I just love the border dies the way you have sort of interwoven them today is gorgeous! I like the second card too but just not as much as the first. Was nice to see a bit of pattern and the patterned rose too.
Trust today goes really well!
I am hoping that the weather has improved a little around Britain by now - its lovely and warm and sunny here!
Little story which I thought was so sweet yesterday when crafting with the children! A little 6 yr old had brought a furry bunny with her to show me - he is fine now she said but just after I got him his smile fell off. My Nanna sewed a new smile on! I thought that was lovely. Hope you don't mind me sharing!
Love and hugs to all who need one!

Hi Sue, two great cards today. Interweaving the borders is not something I would have thought of but must now try. I love the stamping and the rose on the second card but I'm not too sure about the micro-beaded background; maybe, probably, looks a whole lot better in real life.

I have purchased your Rose Die; however, I am disappointed since I don't know how to use it. It does not come with directions and I have never seen you use the die to make them in a video. Essentially the die is useless to me and it was very expensive especially since I live in the United States and the shipping along was very costly.

Both beautiful no favorite as both so different I have done the woven effect before using different border dies to great effect, anyway back to gardening now im winning the battle lol take care hugs to all x

Morning Sue. Afternoon Wilsonettes. It certainly isnt 'grim up North' as the saying goes, weather wise its sunny bright and warm (it has to be warm if I think it is with my weird health) ! Lol. Apart from that, even my skin hurts today, yep, not feeling up to par today, just one of lifes 'blips' tomorrow is another day : )
Pam - we all know there are no two days the same for you, and we are here for the okish days and the bad days you have. I admire your strength each day, and you are on my mind such a lot love.
Cam - All done. I agree with our other friends here, you have worked so hard to give your Son and future wife a beautiful wedding, time for a few Cam days before the 8th, and as.I said to Tina, hope all your hard work is appreciated by all that celebrate with you. (still intregued how you passed off Bahamas for Bognor) how on earth did you disguise that ? and it seems ages since you told us of your cunning and clever plan lol.

Sue, 2 beautiful gifts today, the first very glamerous and for a very special ocassion. I do love the colour scheme and cream/black and gold are a beautiful combination, black, no matter how much you use either enhances the main colours, or a small thin border makes other colours pop and sing, yep, I love using black.
The second 'happy' card looks happy, full of bright summer colour's a fun card not only to make I dare say, but to give and receive, and the final touch - your flower to match the background paper, superb, I also keep scraps of 'happy' paper to use with the few flower dies I have. I certainly WONT walk past this stamp should.I see it in my craft store, its one I really could do with to help me get more ' Happy' cards made for the big Summer market in May.
I shall watch your tutorial when I can concentrate on it without heavy eyes !
Hope you are managing some free Sue Time between preping future shows, making samples, and working on new stock ( there is no way I will have caught up with new set of dies before new set are released) especially as I need all the new dies and stamps to match, not forgetting all the new folders (fudge is first as it will be the back drop for our daughters wedding card)

Going to love and leave you now, but not before sharing hugs and cuddles to my lovely friends that need a Nothern/Brummie hug or cuddle today.

Love you. Thinking of Tina and family.

The Napa Valley die set and the border dies are both on my long wish list. I have to wait until pay day now !! This card is Sooo beautiful, Sue. Thanks for all your great hints and tips, and explaining about the design of your dies for matting and layering. It is all very helpful. I love, love love your Roses and will be making lots more of them.
I do really like the second card to but I do not have these stamps. The second card is lovely as it is something different from the norm, but I have to say the first card is my favourite. I love the patterned Rose you have made for it.
I hope you are having a lovely time with your family Sue. Enjoy your day love Tres x x x

Hi Janice Jerolymack, Sue Wilson has a large bar across the top of her blog page. It has various tutorials that you can read and try out for yourself. Sue has a tutorial called Paper rose tutorial, which was originally made for a Rose stamp. It works just the same for the Rose dies to. I followed it a while back when I bought my Rose dies and it works great. I never thought I could make Roses that look so lovely as Sue's but they do !! Just follow the tutorial and you honestly cannot go wrong. I need to follow easy instructions as I can't follow difficult things myself !! I think Sue has said she will be doing a video tutorial on how to make her Roses too at some point. I hope this helps you.
Lots of love Tres x x x

Lots of love to you Sue and all the Wilsonettes. I hope everyone is ok. Love Tres x x x

Afternoon Sue, well along and busy day so far for me today so sorry for the late check in. I love both of today's cards, both so different to each other. The black and gold combo isso sophisticated, and the patterned one could easily be adapted for a male themed card, so thanks so much for the idea.
Lynne, the rib is pretty sore at the moment as am having to do much more than I would like due to my mother fracturing her ankle last week.
Foaling is still going on, number three arrived at 7.35 this morning, but it was a tough delivery, as the foal was large and gphad a leg back, when we got to the mare she had pushed the head and one leg out but I had to go in and find the other, we managed to get the foal out alive, but we think there is something not quite right with his limbs so are holding off with a name for him. Sorry for the essay!! Hugs to all xxx

Hi Sue, love the Tuesday cards - didn't get chance to comment yesterday as we had one of the cats at the vets and he came back wearing a lampshade, he was not happy and also groggy from the anasthetic. That'll teach him to fight strays. he's neutered but tries to fend off the local strays. I think he's defending the two kittens we also have.

He managed to get the lampshade off 5 times in 3 hours so we found a collar in our cat box and put that on instead of the bandage that the vet put on. It stayed on for the rest of the night and was still on this morning so think we've got this sorted. Although he is definately not amused by it all.

He's a lot better today but will have to wear the lampshade collar and stay in for about 10 days! Can we cope.

At least he's not bumping into things today, so that is an improvement.

The two kittens were amazed by him and kept following him around the house. Still that might help him to be a bit more friendly towards them eh? They are 7 months old and although he's not nasty to them, he only has to look at them and they run off!

Didn't get much sleep last night with everything so a bit tired today. left work early.

Craftihappiness to all, love from Pearl
