Love

Hi crafty friends!  I am really hoping to redeem myself with today's card after yesterday's flop!  I love the soft muted dusty rose and greys in this one.  It is actually one of the samples for today's shows but I cheated a bit and used the Grand decorative Circles and they aren't on the show so I won't be demoing this one.  However, what I really wanted to show was how you could use basic Christmas type dies and create a card that you could use any time of the year.  I cut a Holly Motif out of pale grey card then I cut a frame using the smallest sizes of the Grand Decorative Circle dies.  I glued them both to matching decorative paper for my background, cutting away the lower portion of the Motif.  I  stamped the word "Love" inside a bit off centred to make room for my flowers.  I embossed the sentiment with silver powder.  I matted this piece on to dusty rose card .  I cut a larger piece of pale grey card and embossed the Holly Accent border at the bottom.  I used a light inking of Pumice Stone distress ink to bring out the embossed pattern.  With my background sorted, I started work on my flowers.  These are the Layered Poinsettia dies, but I have assembled them using the same technique that I used from the Blossom Five dies last month.  I formed an inner bud to the flowers, then added slightly larger dies for the outer parts to the flower.  They don't really look like poinsettias, but I'm not sure what flower they actually do resemble.  I like them though, and now you can hopefully look at your Christmas Poinsettia and think about it for year round use too.  I did two flowers, one slightly larger than the other and added a few leaves too.  I had a bit of fun using the Cherry Blossom dies too as twigs for accents for the flowers (I just love that set!)  I finished the card with Cosmic Shimmer silver PVA glue dots around the edges.  I got a little snap happy with the camera on this one so there are quite a few different angle pics for you too.  What do you say, did I redeem myself? LOL
Don't forget to tune in to today's shows at 8am, 11am and 3pm and Julia's shows on Thursday at noon, 4pm and 7pm!  All for now, Sue x

Lovely Sue, so pretty and feminine especially the roses. I love the background too!

Don't be disheartened Sue by comments you can't please all the people all the time :) You do very well and are a tremendous inspiration to us all and even when colours don't suit we can take your ideas and try other shades. Thank you!

Morning Sue,I love this card, the colours are lovely and soft, I always love soft grey and dusky pink together. I can't understand what you have done on the inner part of the larger die, I will have to re-read your instructions ha ha. I love the twigs from the cherry blossom dies, I really need those, I didn't think I would need them but now I know that I do ha ha. I adore how you just emboss with the dies, it is so effective, I still need to try this technique. The poinsettia flowers are stupendous, Sue, you have made a 'new' flower, it is gorgeous.
Looking forward to your shows today and Julia's tomorrow. Lots of love from Patricia xx

Hi Sue, that's better (hee hee) I really love this card. I haven't got the grand circles but I do have the grand ovals, so I could easily try something similar with the ovals I'm sure. I love the colours, they are really beautiful. Love Sam xxx

Hi Sue,

'love' this card and I like that you've shown that the Poinsettia die can be used to make different flowers.

I'm in Canada now visiting family, so missed the shows today, but have just managed to watch the 11pm repeat on the pc. Brilliant show as usual. The card is brilliant, you wouldn't know that the flowers are actually the poinsettia dies.

Since I missed yesterday's card, had to go have a look. While the color combo isn't one that speaks to me, loved the laced ribbon. Today's is lovely as well. You always come up with new and different ways to do things. It amazes me how different they are!
