Christmas Blessings

Hello bloggers!  I thought that I would share with you a card that features the Illuminated Angel Mini Striplet since there wasn't one during the blog launch!  I started by embossing the background with the Star Swirls embossing folder.  However, I found that my sentiment was sort of lost against it so I lightly embossed a piece of vellum to go over the top of it to soften it.  I used Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue in the corners to adhere it. For the focal element, I used a piece of acetate and did the caught in crystal method, but used our Cosmic Colour ink drops instead of alcohol ink for a more vivid colour.  These colours are supposed to be used to colour texture paste and ultra thick embossing powders and other type of products, but they work great for this!  I added a bit of gold mica powder and the Cosmic lacquer with them then added tissue paper over the top and let it dry overnight.  I cut the Angel striplet in white and glue it over a piece of my coloured acetate cut to size.  I used the Saffron Yellow and the Lava Red colours to give a beautiful sunset sort of colour to the striplet.  I added mounting foam to the back and attached it to the side of the embossed background.  I cut the Christmas Blessings die three times out of white card and glued the, together for a bit of dimension and added strength and attached it to the lower corner of the card.  Three flatback pearls adorned the upper corner and a white on white mat finished off the card.  The finished dimensions are .7"  x  7 1/2" in size.

My 2 hour  Hochanda show today is from 5pm to 7pm, I hope you can join me then!  All for now, Sue x

Shunning card Sue, lovely
Elaine, hope both the boys are doing better, you must be run ragged.
Tina, it must have been a lovely sight seeing Mick with his grandson, you deserve happy scenes like that. Can I order a meat pie please.
Pat, Sarah could teach a lot of adults things about strength and bravery, what a strong little girl she is.
Tracey, my daily thoughts for you and your lovely dad. Hope they are managing his medication now, it is heartbreaking to see them confused on top of everything else.
Hugs to all.

Morning Sue. Clean and simple but very effective, I'm thinking it would be inspiration for those that like making the same, but different in a small way, as in changing the colour used on the acitate behind the striplet and co-ordinate the colour on the sentiment, imagin just how many cards you could make with just 2 of the new festive dies but using different coloured mediums behind the striplet (you also gave us the tools in last year's collection to do the same technique)
Hope your show's go well today, I managed to see a little of your early evening show with lovely Alex during dinner but that was all and I'm vexed I have no recordings waiting at home 😢
Last full day at Padstow before our journey back up North - again with a halfway stop off so will be glad to get home Sunday, as since Tuesday I think, I've been struggling to breath properly and am concerned that should I seek assistance here Andy will probably be looking for an extra weeks accommodation while I spend a few days under the care of Cornwalls NHS service, and that ain't happening, so roll on Monday so I can see my own GP and get rid of this awful feeling of suffocation !! It's quite frightening.
I will send my usual friendly hugs to you Sue and 'our Sam' and hope you have a fun day in the studio ☺ xxx

GM Sue. Love the caught in crystal background. Watched your shows yday. Fab demos as always. Re your mission to get Britain gilding. I must fess up. I have a few pots of flakes bought some time ago that I haven't used yet. I must gild more as the effect is lovely. I think it's the thought of the mess that puts me off using them. Will watch you shows tonight with a bit of luck.

Hello Sue and all
Lovely background technique and as Stephanie said, in different colours you could make same but different cards with just 2 dies.
I placed an order today for my favourite festive collection dies, blew the budget - oh well - I really NEEDED them lol !!! Now very excited waiting for them to arrive and start some pretty special Christmas cards for this year inspired by your examples and some ideas going around and around in my head.
Have a good weekend

Morning sue and crafters.

Wow this is so striking with those colours behind it. Love it. It looks nice and simple too always s winner.

Well ladies dad is getting home today. Doc says there is not much else they can do for him except keep him comfortable.
Also yesterday he asked where his phone was. So someone has either stolen it or it's been scooped up in the bed sheets when they had to change them. As he was talking on it the night before when I was in visiting.
The nurses did a bed to bed search for me with patients permission just in case someone had lifted it and been put in the wrong place but yo no avail. It was ringing out when I called it but then went to answer phone.
Orange his provider weren't very good either they would only put call barring on it and wouldn't let me cancel it even tho I had all dads details. I understand they have protocol and security but I did try explain the situation and the guy said I needed power of or tourney but like I said how can I get that when he's not fit to get out of bed let alone to a lawyer. I was so frustrated and angry and upset. So now I'll have to call them again an put my poor distressed and not always compus mentus dad on the phone to access his acct to try cancel it.
I'm so stressed out by it it's unbelievable.
Anyhow I'll try harder today and just get on with things till he gets sent home this afternoon then I can catch dies show at 5 that might calm me a little

Love to all xx

Good morning Sue adn the wilsonettes,
Sue this card reminds me of a volcano or what they show us is hell which i'm not sure i like that poor wee angel rising out of that lot, her wings will get scorched. I love the wee striplet its just my imagination runs riot as you know and i don't know that i like the picture that it is making me see at the moment. Now the other way to look at it is the angel is rising from the fires of hell showing us all that there is hope so maybe a good card for a religious person. I hope that you will have a wonderful day on Hochanda Sue, have fun flower.
Hugs to Tracy & her Dad, Tina & Mick, Elaine with both Darren and Andrew in hospital i think you need them flower, and wee Sarah who could really do with some to perk her up. To everyone else that needs, could do with or just wants a hug, it is yours

I love this angel striplet and will be adding this to my collection of your angels. Even my better half commented "I really like this one; buy it". Just as well because I was going to, anyway. Just waiting to see if he'll be as eager to give me the money for it!!. Hugs xx P Austen

Hi Sue,
Absolutely stunning. This mini striplet was one of my favourites from the new collection. I loved the wise men last year too. I think it will have to be added to my collection. Love and hugs to everyone, Alison xx

Such a beautiful die!! I am so disappointed that I can not find it for sale in the United States. Even Amazon.com didn't list it when I searched for it. I am afraid the postage costs from England would be cost prohibitive.

Hi Sue. Today's card is beautiful !!! I love your caught in crystal technique. It looks great !!! Your new Angel striplet is really lovely, but my favourite of these dies is your "Christmas Blessings" word die. It is a brilliant Christmas sentiment and I love the mix of fonts you have used to. Your double bill show today on Hochanda was wonderful. I enjoyed every minute. I could not even wait until you came back from your break !!! I loved all your dies and card samples, and your demos were fab Sue !!! Thank you for sharing today's beautiful card, and for all your hard work today on Hochanda. You were great !!! I can't wait to see your show tomorrow. Sending you lots of love Sue from Tres x x x

Sending lots of love to everyone from Tres x x x

Evening Sue
What a truly radiant and sumptuous card you have delighted us with today. It is so opulent and beautiful. Wow - not much more I can say but I hope I have made it very clear that I love this card x
And now let's talk about your starring role which was once again a-may-zing. I did make it quite clear earlier this week on the blog that I am a huge fan of the shadow box concept. It was absolutely fascinating watching the master at work just scratching the surface of what can be done with these ingenious additions to your range x
And as for the pixie powders - oh my goodness - breathtaking. I can only begin to imagine the potential of these little bottles of delight - more demos please x
And we have you back again tomorrow - what joy x
Lousy weather here today. Windy, grey skies and lots of rain - shouldn't be surprised really - it is Wimbledon fortnight. It was bright sunshine between 5 and 7 as Sue lit up on screens x
Maria - what is it with you sadistic Wilsonette's??!! Are you not just happy that Laine and I are gracing the blog with our presence? I am a little worried that you may be organising a boxing ring for Ally Pally so that Laine and I can be the entertainment. Is our bickering really that entertaining? I always wonder if maybe we take things too far - would hate to cause offence or upset anyone. Obviously you prefer it when I release my inner b***h. She is having a little rest but I know she will struggle to stay down for long. You are so bad. Lol x
Lorraine - huggles to you my friend. Migraines are such a bummer. Hope you are OK x
Nanna Tina - it must have been so wonderful to see Mick with Ashton. When will Riley- Mae be visiting? Hugs x
Tracy - it's one thing after another. Hope no more mishaps today and things ran as smoothly as they could. Hugs x
Laine - where are you hiding? It would appear that there are certain strange individuals on this blog find comfort in our loathing of each other. Can't understand why this would cause such amusement can you? Let's lull them into a false sense of security just cos we can, lol. You have been absent for 2 days now - hope you are OK. Speak to you soon hun x
Bedtime soon. One more Sue performance to look forward to then thank goodness she will be back very soon. I bet there are a few bank balances suffering at the moment.
Apologies to anyone who is bored by my lack of ranting but once in a while I do try and be nice!! (Sorry Marie and Theresa) x
Hugs and happy thoughts to all

Hi sue totally loving all the hochanda shows I've recorders them all for inspiration and hopefully there will be a set of dies left by morning.

I would love to add a set to my collection as I've got quite a few and still need more. Looking an electric machine so I can actually cut them as I can't right now and I'm itching to get making something.

All the best Pauline (freedom99)

Beautiful card. Love the way you have used the vellum over the embossed background.

Nanna Tina, good to hear that Mick is eating a little better. Congratulations on the births of your two new grandchildren.
Tracy, hope your Dad is safely home with you and that you can sort the problem with his phone. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Elaine, hope your sons are on the mend.
Dragonswing, try the Joanna Sheen website for free postage worldwide on orders over £9.

Evening Sue
I hope you are having a well earned rest after your hectic schedule over the last week.
It is a shame it's over but we will allow you a little interlude until you are back with us again x
Gorgeously lavish card today. Gilding flakes are so special and make for such luxurious looking cards x
I must make more use of the ones I have in my massively increasing stash of unused crafty stuff. There is quite a lot in that stash and I am sure I am not the only one who owns a collection of purchases that you thought you would use all the time. Please tell me I'm not the only one x
So who bought what when Sue was on Hochanda? I treated myself to the Belgian collection on Thursday and just had to have the pixie powders. How cool are those sparkly twinkly gorgeously glittery powders? Was anyone else tempted?
Congratulations Betty on your win x
Barbara - I hope your journey wasn't too bad today x
Elaine - bet you don't know if you're coming or going. Hugs x
Pat - Sue had to give a little giggle yesterday, which was code for yes, absolutely, Yvonne is my favourite x
Tracy - my heart goes out to you. Sending you lots of love. It's so difficult living with the uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring. Take care and we are all here for you. Big hugs for you and yours x
Laine - put your claws away girl. Jealousy is not pretty. If you put all that negative energy into something constructive you might actually achieve something worthwhile. I will look forward to giving you some well needed lessons in being true to oneself. Let it go x
So I am retiring to bed shortly and am going to watch Sue all over again on catch up. The candles are lit and I am in my nice clean pj's after my soak in the bath.
Sending love to absent friends - hope you are all OK x
Night all, sleep tight
Crafty hugs
Yvonne
