It's A Double Day

Hello all!  It's time again for another Christmas double day, they do come along quickly, don't they!  This first card was created using the Holly Accessory Kit die set.  I started by embossing a piece of white card using the Swirling Holly embossing folder for detail.  To create the wreath, I simply cut loads of the holly solid die as well as the matching open Holly die in the set using about four different colours of green card stock.  I think the differing shades of card adds a lot of interest to the wreath.  I glued the solid shapes in place first, then added in the open Holly shapes on top randomly all around the wreath.  I cut several of the Holly berries in red and glued them around the wreath as well.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it into a strip with forked ends on both sides.  I attached it across and upwards on the wreath, then cut a Mosaic Poinsettia to add as an accent.  I finished the card with my usual pierced white mat, a thin red mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  Scroll down to see card number two.

Card number two is my favourite of the Let It Snow samples that I made.  I started this one by cutting several of the Peace die out of white card.  I used these to create the swirly border edge around the silver card.  I actually had this in mind as I designed the Peace die so I was looking forward to trying it out when I received the prototypes and I loved the way it looked!  I cut a smaller piece of silver card and used the Innsbruck die to cut an oval aperture.  I glued a piece of acetate across the back of it and cut my Let It Snow die in white and glued it across the centre.  I attached a thin strip of sticky adhesive to some white card and used the die a second time and lined it up to cut just the word "snow" this time.  I nipped away the swirls so the letters were free, peeled the backing paper off and coated them with Diamond Sprinkles for bling.  I glued these atop the original die cut.  I ran a bead of dries clear glue around the edge of the silver card and dusted it with Iced Snow and let it dry.    I scattered small flatback pearls around the background and on the snowflakes in the die cut.  I completed the card with a white pierced mat, a thin silver mat and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are
6 1/2" x  8" in size.  I hope you have enjoyed today's double feature!  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue, Pam and all Wilsonettes, oh, oh, oh, wow, wow, wow, I love todays cards, the wreath looks gorgeous with lots of cutting out but the 'let it snow' card really is my favourite, I so love this die and have made some really nice cards with it but you have given me an idea for some of the cut out that I did which got a bit torn on the edges, just use the snow words..........yes I will use them. I so love the colours and the acetate sets it off really well with the peach borders behind it, I will definitely have a go at this one.

I cut some of the Austrian borders yesterday but for some reason, even though I taped it down heavily, I found that the die moved so I ended up manually cutting the straight edge off and it worked a treat, see where there is a will there is a way as my Mum always used to say.

Have a great Friday everyone, stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Hi Sue. Two lovely offerings today, and both are stunners. The wreath is so striking, and could be adapted to make a larger wreath for a door. It's the use of the different coloured card and the open leaves that gives the impact. The second makes such good use of the Peace die as a border. I can't choose a favourite! Anne x

Good morning Sue
Two fabulous cards this morning I can't choose a favourite. I must be a strange person because I find die cutting and removing the cut out bits therapeutic lol. I would so enjoy making the holly wreath, I used to do a lot of decoupage and enjoy building the picture so that is right up my street. I love how your Peace die is used as a frame such a brilliant idea, we certainly get a variety of ways to use your dies. The embossing folder is very pretty as all your embossing folders are.

I cannot believe we are round to Friday again and that I have been here a week.
Today's gift are truly beautiful and your Holly Wreath is a definite must die for next year. Again I cannot choose a favourite so for me they're both beautiful beautiful beautiful.

Maureen - I managed the bday cards but still didn't get any seasonal ones done. Took me all morning to do the bday cards and I was shattered so sat and did some cross stitch in the afternoon.
Norah - your halo is still intact where I'm concerned.
Sandra - so sorry re the news on Lucy's eye problem. You'd think that in this day and age they could do something better than their option. Take great care of your hips young lady -after all how can you do the TWIST with unstable hips? So now back to my normal self (well as normal as I can be) I'm sending huge hugs to both you and Lucy.
Pam - You're still missing - where are you!!

Friday so it's market day in Corbigny. Walk through the market; coffee break at the bottom of the road; call at the Pastry Shop; feed the car with fuel and then back home.

To all not feeling well hope you feel better soon. To all take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Good morning Sue and Wilsonette Angels,
I think the first is my favourite with the different colours of green and layers of holly making up the circular wreath.I really love this whole card and being the proud owner of the holly EF as well, this is one that i have tried and love. The white and silver is beyond me as i can't get my hands on a Let it Snow die after ordering twice now from 2 different retailers and being let down and they can't get it, hey ho that's just the way it goes. I wonder if it would look right with a fancy happy birthday in the middle instead? MMh need to try and make minor alterations, but again it is a beautiful card. Thank you Sue for two beautiful cards and inspiration.
Brenda, i wonder how your hubby would be if you brought out my Nana's biscuit rolling pin? This needs my two hands on a good day to lift it as it must be nigh near 3 times the size of a normal pun in diameter.;-))
Myra, some people do but it depends on how old fashioned their mum is. Take Kirsten for instance, she will have a show of presents before her wedding a few years down the line from now because that is the proper thing to do. With me being self employed at the time as a hairdresser i received a lot of gifts from old folk. Some tea towels, a pyrex jug with a lid on it which was brilliant, or a rope and pegs, things like that, but i was grateful for every single one of them as they have been used well over the years. I thought an awful lot of these kind old souls thinking of me to get me a gift and my mind and heart goes back to each of them whenever i use something that i was given.
Sandra, get Lucy to persevere with the exercises as their alternative is not one as far as i am concerned. I had 2 two severe squints which enabled me to look in both directions at once(didn't do mum's heart much good when i did that like) and after having one operation i have never considered having the second as they made that much of a mess doing the first. I will say flower that the exercises do help with much perseverance and time. Not so funny your hip deciding what it is going to do to get attention all on it's own like that. I hope that you gave it a good talking to and warned it not to bother trying that we stunt again as you will be going out more and it would just need to accept that wee fact. Glad you 3 Angels had a good time again on Tuesday and so glad to see you back. I think that it will give you something to really look forward to from being in the house day after day.
Had to go and see a lawyer yesterday because of mum's house and with all the different toing and froing i am so tired today. Kirsten has seen a house that her and Ryan want to go after but between father and Ryan's parents wanting them to buy a newer/new house that they can't afford and his nibs(OH) well, he is just trying to keep up with Ryans parents and i hate to burst his bubble, but we will never ever be able to give the kids what his parents do and being brutally honest, i am not even going to try. My kids were brought up with what i could afford and love and guidelines and i am glad, because Kirsten is going to have her work cut out with Ryan as he does not know the meaning of the word NO and has always said i want and he gets. My two were brought up with i want doesn't get which in hindsight i don't think has been a bad thing for either of them to learn. I am dreading the fallout if he doesn't get this house because he seems to think he just needs to say i want, give the deposit and it is his. They still have to get approved for a mortgage first, so fingers crossed for next week.
Have a lovely day everyone and i hope the sun is shining out from you today. Sending hugs to all my Angels that need them either on blog or not at the moment, take care
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Morning Sue from a very autuminal Lancashire.
Both gifts are beautiful this morning, and Im kind of thinking just how spectacular your wreath die would look all in white with iced snow and the odd berry for a tiny hint of colour, Im a sucker for tone on tone, and white with silver or white with gold, but I love that these days there seems that any colour can be used for 'festive cards' of which I need to start ! That week of feeling unwell has truely messed up my crafting time scale, I should have re-stocked from the last market plusmade a start of adding to what 'festive cards' I have from last year, so far Ive made only 3 to add to my market stock, and that's it ! My hands look like boxing gloves on the end of skinny little wrists, but Im going to have to push through the discomfort and just get on with it.
Your festive two-fer days are going to be so valuable Sue I/we cant thank you enough.

Ok PAM, now you have us all chewing our fingers down to the bone worrying about you, really hope nothing is wrong.

Even though its a dull miserable day, I hope for all my friends a brighter day than yesterday, that you feel less pain or sorrow.
Welcome to our new American Wilsonette, you have found the best blog for caring and giving, and the most amazing card angel there is in craft world, enjoy the wonderful world of Sue Wilson.
Have a wonderful time at market Janet, im sure it wont be long before you start to make our mouths water and our minds walk with you down the little French lanes and streets, how lovely.
Im STILL needing this craft retreat, where on earth is this wonderful place I wonder.
Oh well. Sending hugs to you all.
Love you.

Hi Sue. It's Friday - twofer day, Yay !! I love, love, love both of these beautiful Christmas cards today !! But I think if I was really pushed for a favourite I would go for the Holly Wreath card. I really love Traditional Christmas cards and I loved the Holly Swirls background folder so much that I asked for it for my birthday !! I adore the the different shades of green you have used for the holly leaves and the dies are gorgeous Sue. I just have to buy them now !! Which I will be doing soon. I really love how you have made full leaf dies and open leaf dies Sue. You are a genius !! I have never seen any one else put so much thought into designing dies !! Anyway, your card is beautiful and I love it - so Christmassy.
Of course I really do love the "let it snow" word die, and today's card using it is beautiful Sue. This is another Christmas die high on my wish list. The only problem is I cannot seem to get hold of it any where. It is so popular !! I love this card that you have made but I must say that my favourite "let it snow" card was on your c+c Christmas dies show. It was used with your new frosty swirls background folder and the die was sort of "in laid" back into the background folder. I think it had glitter on it to. As with all your cards Sue, it was stunning !! I love how you have used the "peace die" as your background for your card. Again Sue, a very clever idea. The silver colour combo is great but I also think blue and white is a great colour combo for a Christmassy "let it snow" , wintery, snowflake style card.
Thank you so much for two stunning Christmas cards today Sue. I hope all is ok with you. Take care. Sending you lots of love and hugs from Tres x x x

Hi Sue. I'm going to start with the second, Let it Snow card...it's elegance personified!!!
The wreath is so fresh and alive and it looks like it was so much fun to build up. I love it! As always, thanks for sharing with us. x

Hi Sue,
Two beauties again today! The wreath looks stunning although I agree I wouldn't make a batch of them because of the cutting but gorgeous for a special card. The second card is my favourite . Really lovely.
Watched the video last night - how clever - will be giving that one a try . You created a striplet from a border - if you see what I mean!
Norah - thanks for answering my question about the presents. Times have changed so much - no Lists in my day and as you say it was lovely to receive even a very small present as they were all used. Totally agree with you about children and learning to live within your means as my Grandad used to say! It worries me to see 8 year olds with iPhones . I see that every Monday at the after school club.
Brenda - sorry you are still not fighting fit as they say but hope you are a bit better today. hug on its way!
Maria - sorry you not so well . Hope you can a have a bit of a rest at the weekend. Sending a hug to you too.
Alison - enjoy your day out - Happy Anniversary. Hope the weather in the Lakes is kind to you.
Pam - sending hugs in your direction too. Thinking of you at this time.
Anne and Ian - thinking of you too.
Janet - enjoy your pastries!
Have a lovely weekend everyone. Special hugs if you are alone, suffering pain or sad.
Love Myra xx

Helloooooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! What a fantastic two-fer Sue! Gorgeous different coloured greens that make this wreath. I love the swirling holly embossing folder. It's gorgeous....Second card what a wow factor! Great idea of using the swirls to make a background. When I saw the photo that showed a glossy oval, I thought it was gloss card.... Nice surprise that it was acetate! I've got a bit of that! Love the way that you used the sticky sheet too on the lettered "Let it Snow" stunning! I went an art and craft shop yesterday to get some red liquid pearl and I noticed a big tub of Iced Snow on the counter. I told the chap that I was using it on the Christmas cards I was making this year. I said it was just gorgeous and sparkly. He then told me he was thinking of covering his bannister with the decoration that you put over your mantelpiece, from top to bottom. Then he was thinking of adding Iced Snow to it in parts. By the time we left he was definitely going to do it....lol! I do do love it! "Thank you Sue" for the wonderful inspiration that you bring. Sending love and hugs to you and your family xx Sending love and hugs to our Wilsonettes who are in need. Take care everyone xx Love Karen xx

Hi Sue

I really like both cards, I have a thing for making wreaths on cards or on paper rings but let it snow is my favourite too. I try buy this die every few days, will be mine soon! Unless there's none left and may settle for just the CE stamp... or both! Have the nice snowflake justrite stamps so not like I'm doing without!

Sorry for my absence still, was asleep all day today as my PA and I pre prepared Mr Ws and mine evening meals yesterday. I like cooking so it was a nice thing to do. Still trying to catch up with paperwork, changing energy tariff, make doctors appointments plus all those other bits of I've neglected. Mr W taking me in town tomorrow to buy some essentials and then on Sunday or Monday I'm hoping to play with my new french dies. I'm looking forward to it but my body is struggling. Just had some meds so I'll either be back to sleep or bouncing off the walls, lol, Billy and I are so alike in the that way!

Pam, I see people are getting concerned, hope you're ok.

Welcome new Wilsonettes, hugs to Wilsonettes everywhere and special hugs to those who need them.

Have some other emails to check so must go. Where would I be without my phone? Now to convince Blogger I'm human...!

Hi, Sue, I've been minus a broadband connection for the last 8 days - how frustrating, but at least I had a lot to look at when I got here. I loved today's wreath card, but the snowy one looked rather dull on my screen. Sadly I don't seem to have been drawn out of the hat, so I'll get back to checking in every morning as I was doing before I was rudely inturrupted.

Dear Sue,
