Your Strength

Good Sunday morning all!  Another card from my last Justrite show in April.  I started with a piece of periwinkle card and stamped one of the Ribbons and Swags stamps all over the background with a Clear Perfect medium pad.  Then I used the Honeycomb Haven embossing folder to give it texture.  Then , as if that wasn't enough, I cut the piece into strips and wove them back together to form the background for the card.  Using the Grand Square dies, I created a large frame and used two of the in between sized dies to emboss into the frame.  I added mounting foam to raise it and then cut a slightly smaller frame for it to sit upon.  I glued the entire piece to my background, which held the woven pieces in place.  I stamped a sentiment  from the Becca Feeken's set called Ribbons and Swags  and cut it into a strip.  I cut several of the Faux Quilled leaves in white and used them around a single white organza ribbon rose on the end of my sentiment strip.  I added some white tulle and pearl strings along with a couple of thin pieces of the periwinkle card curled around a pencil.  My friend Kim Robertson taught me that trick!  The entire piece was then matted onto a white pierced layer, a thin periwinkle layer and a final white layer.  The finished dimensions are 8" x 8" in size

Now, it is time once again to announce the winners of the weekly Comment Game.  This week's winners are:
Norah McPhee!!!
Utility Girl!!!
Julie Kay!!!

From the extra qualifying post of Wednesday May 28th, the winners are:
Caroljsmith!!!
Pauline Norbury!!!
Zena McCalmont!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.

Before I forget too, why don't you all pop over to Julia Watts blog (Inkyfingerzone.blogspot.com) and wish her a Happy Birthday!  I know she would love that!  All for now, Sue x

What a lovely fresh looking card, the colour used is divine, perfect of a lovely sunny day here. I love the idea of weaving, I've not tried that before either with embossed card or plain simple card, it's been something I did not think I would consider but after seeing this card it's something I will try today.
Thanks for the inspiration and take care.

Today's gift is so so gentle and of course as I always say you cannot go wrong for me with blue/white and in any shade of blue.
I love the clean simple look and oh it can be for any occasion. That's definitely a winner in my book.
The idea of plaiting the strips is lovely and a big thank you for reminding me that I bought a reel of chiffon roses sat on white tulle ages ago and have never used it. It will now be brought to the fore and all my chiffon roses will be used instead of fighting with tulle to make these flowers.
Many congrats to Norah - oh those mountains will look so and beautiful this morning Norah knowing that you are a winner. Go Norah go!!!
Enjoy the day everyone; take care and see you tomorrow.

Yay, Sue, my kind of card!! Really love the periwinkle and the embossed frames (for once, sussed how to do this all on my own before you gave us the know-how - stupidly pleased with myself!) Of course, adore the embellishment but just think may have left the blue background intact rather then using weaving, as so much going on. Now this is one I'd love to win if it were up for grabs!!
Well done all winners, especially our Norah, who will be dancing under the Ochils for sure.

Sunday smiles to you Sue. Morning Wilsonettes. Yet another sunny day to celebrate, and another beautiful Sue card otherwise known as a W.O.W = Wonder Of Wilson. Definatly a Wedgewood look to it, clean and delicate. I really wish I could afford the grande die to frame my cards I think it turns a card into a framed picture, it makes that 'special' card a little more special with the addition of a box looking frame. I think it just goes to show that although all the decorative dies add a lushness to our cards/projects the good old square dies are such a valuable part of our 'stash' so maybe I should listen to what I say and try and save for the grande die ! But there are SO many of your new collection I dont have and before long your new collection will be needing homes, so I have such a dilema ! : )
Hope you ladies that went to the show at Bolton had a great time, and to those going today - its very warm here again and have a lovely day there.
Need to get a few cards sorted today before my stay on the ward next week, only problem is that I dont have the stamps I need !
I hope you are all being warmed up by the sun this morning. To Julie and our other poorly 'sister' who is SO unwell at the moment, I wish I could wave a magic wand for you. Tina - You are in my thoughts, you know we are all with you at your sadest time, and to our 6am Pam my hugs are for you also.

Hi Sue,
Hi to all lovely crafting friends!
Oh Sue, I do like this card today. I adore periwinkle blue and the white faux quilled leaves and tulle rose are gorgeous . Not forgetting the blue "twiddly bits" . Are they just slivers of card wound round a pencil and then sort of tweaked? Now you know why you're writing this blog and I'm reading! Lol

Many thanks to all the kind friends who wished me well yesterday! I slept nearly all day and all night so lots better.

I bought three to start with to see if I liked them. x

I Love The Embossing and how you then cut it into strips and then did your strips then did your weaving.

Hi Sue. Ooooh now this card today is so beautiful !! I am a huge fan of the Periwinkle blue card, it is such a lovely shade of blue. Stamping, then embossing, then cutting into strips, then weaving. What a great idea !! The results look fab Sue !! I love my Grand Squares dies and use them all the time. They are perfect for using on 8x8" square cards. (My preferred card size.) I love the sentiment. The Rose and the faux quilled leaves are the perfect finish to this beautiful card !! This card is a definite must try but I would make my own Rose from your fab Roses die set instead Sue. Your Roses set has become one of my ultimate favourite flower die sets now !! It has become one of my go to sets when I need some flowers. I have been trying to get hold of your faux quilled blooms die set but every where I have looked is sold out !! I will keep trying. Thank you for sharing this beautiful, bright cheery sunshiny card today Sue.

Good morning from Sunny Blackpool to Sue and all the wilsonettes.
I am so pleased for all the winners but especially for Norah. The kindness this lady has shown a stranger has been so appreciated, this win couldn't come as a better reward.
Now for the totally amazing creation today. A number of ladies have said the same, this is.my kinda card. It's beautiful. The colours are gorgeous. Wouldn't you just like to receive a card like this. As usually I don't have all of the elements needed for this but I'm sure I could have a go with what I do have.
I loved every minute of the GBCF. Would have been the icing on the cake had Sue been there but you can't have it all. Well the antibiotics have definitely kicked in. I'm just tired now but I'm going to be extra careful this week as rest as much as I can to get back to normality for me. I've also got to start to save up again as my craft pot is empty lol.
Don't Knowl why but I'm drawn to saying hello to Lancashire steph. I think it was because of the Bolton comments. Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.
Lots of crafty love, Jo xx

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
WOW Sue, what a wonderful way to wake up on a Sunday morning. A beautiful card in lovely colours and excitement as well. Thank you, thank you for giving me a wonderful finish to the weekend, as you have just managed to lift the k-knacked body into orbit with seeing my name on the roll of prize winners today. I have to say i love the style of today’s card as it is plain and yet not(hope that makes some sense) with the textured background of the embossing folder and then it being cut into strips and woven. I am still waiting for my leaves to come from i can't remember where, but i could try with something else to start with.
Sandra the golden halo will be the belisha beacon hair colour that said daughter thought would look better than grey, and well i can see the cherub part, that would be the height of nonsense i am and the not chubby cherub, but tubby cherub.
Well with it turning out to be such a scorcher of a day up here at the Hillfoots, the trousers and blouse got changed for a maxi dress that i had bought 2 year ago and had never had the chance to wear it, and a wee bolero to cover the tops of the arms. His nibs decided that i didn't need to take me sticks out of the car as i was going to be parking my derriere anyway. Well who looked as if they were stoatin' and that was without the inebriation of alcohol as i bounced down the front path, almost in more ways than one, into the house and out the back. With having our new son's wee cousins there, with Kirsten's friends wee lass, it was a great day and night. They had set up the swingball and it was amazing the amount of big "weans" that wanted a shot, so much so that the wee ones couldn't get on. One lass who has been really ill with B.C. and is still on medication and to start radium therapy got a little bit more than 4 sheets to the wind shall we say, but she has a brilliant sense of humour which she hasn't lost in her troubles, and she just kept us all going. I had the real pleasure of playing musical chairs and getting to talk to some lovely members of the family, including his gran who has just over the moon with her new "granddaughter". Great night but trying to get a drunk hubby and a son who went to play on the xbox rolled into the car and away took some doing. Go glad that everyone had a good time though.
To Tina and Gail, sending my prayers and thoughts too you.
Teresa (TOB), sorry you are so down. I hope you pick up soon.
Good morning Julie and Lee of course. Hope you are getting stronger each day flower.
Joanna, it’s worth the tired feeling now to have had so much fun. Glad your spirits have picked up again. Try enjoy the after show happy bits.
Well I’m going now as I’ve typed the hind legs off a donkey today with excitement, but sending gentle hugs out to our fragile and hurting friends.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
