Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Morning all!  Think lilac, gold and white for today's card because try as I might, I couldn't get the card to really show the true colour very well.  It is one of my favourites from the past weekend's shows though, so first up on offer for the weekly giveaway.  I started by embossing vellum with my new Art Deco Fanfare embossing folder.  Although the pattern actually goes the other way, I ended up using it in this direction, which gives it a completely different look.  I glued it atop a piece of soft gold card for my outer background and added flatback pearls to the corners.  Next I stamped the Floral Lace background by Justrite using a clear Perfect Medium pad on to lilac card.  I heat embossed with with Gold Detail Powder.  I covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet and coated it with (my much loved) Iced Snow.  I matted it with a thin soft gold mat and added it to the background with mounting foam.  I stamped the label from The Baking Label stamp set by Justrite on coconut white card and heat embossed it with gold as well.  I cut it out with the matching vintage tag die and before removing it, I inked it with Shaded Lilac distress ink.  I stamped my sentiment (from the Stitched Flower set) and cut it out with a small die in the Vintage Labels Seven die set.  I inked through the die with Shaded Lilac again.  I used the new Tranquil Moments die set and cut it out of coconut white card and layered my sentiment and tag on it with foam and added it to the centre of the card.  Using the Classic Rose die, I made a flower out of coconut white card, inked it lightly with Shaded Lilac, then sugared it with Iced snow.  I cut some Faux Quilled Leaves out of soft gold and cut them apart and added them around my flower with I seated upon some gold tulle on the card.  I made matching stick pins to finish the embellishment.  A double white mat with Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue dots were added completed the entire card.  It's a stunner in real life, shame my pics aren't able to do it justice!

If you would like to be included in the drawing to win this one, just leave me a comment.  I usually post the winners name on Saturday's post, but I will be away at Ally Pally all weekend, so both the card winner and the Comment Game winners will be posted on Monday's blog post this week.

I have been getting a few emails asking how to leave comments, so I have put up an explanation on the right side of the blog!
The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue, you'll see I didn't comment yesterday because although I checked in, I intended to comment after I had watched the video. The evening somehow got away from me and I still haven't watched it! I liked both of the cards and really enjoyed seeing you and Dean make the squiggle background on Sunday.
Today's card - what can I say about it other than it's amazing, beautiful, gorgeous - I love it.
Not surprised that so many people have commented today, we would all love to win such a beautiful creation.

Hi Sue, my friend Carol lent me some of her dies whilst she is away and one of them is the Classic Rose Dies Finishing Touches Collection which is lovely, I wondered if you did a tutorial for a card with them if so would be interested to know the different ways to work with them..Jacky.

This is so elegant Sue. The embossing looks just as great this way round! Love the subtle colour of lilac under the gold Fabulous. I nearly bought the tulle that was offered on Tool
Shed (Tulle Shed, lol) but there was so much in the bundle I'd never have got through it! I love it though and must try to find smaller quantities from somewhere.

Sue - this card is so up my alley! Just gorgeous. So cheered me.

Julie Laz - I am so chuffed you have chosen one of my cards. Maybe one day I will pluck up the courage to show them to a certain lady who has been such an influence in my card making over the years (yes Sue - it's you!) Crafting has been such a huge part of my life (since I was a 3 year old with my plastercine) whether it is drawing and painting, dressmaking, soft furnishings and the last 8 years papercrafting, it helps me so much to escape for a while from such a troubled world, and today when my beloved Sister, who has been so poorly, fell and broke her pelvis, to discover that Julie has gone with my design was fantstic. I'm so chuffed. Sorry folks - sitting here with a very large G&T (otherwise wouldn't be spouting this stuff). It's so great to be a very small part of a lovely community - and it is people like Sue that make such a difference to so many lives - so I'm raising a glass tonight to all of you. X

Absolutely loving the creations you have been making with the new Finishing Touches dies. I'm having terrible trouble trying to get hold of the faux quilled leaves, as they are so popular, so out of stock everywhere. Seriously hoping more will be available soon. Looking forward to Ally Pally this weekend :-)

You can just barely make out the lilac underneath but shows up in the outer dies. This is really pretty. Would love to own it for myself. Would never pass it along, selfish as that might be. I don't know who had a biopsy but I pray for good news. Myra from Florida
