Missing You

Good Sunday morning all!  I have a nice easy square card to share with you today.  I started by cutting the Indonesian Background out of black card.  I backed it with Papyrus card, cut the centre out and added foam to the back.  I cut the smaller die in the background out of Papyrus card and added a black backing to it.  I seated the frame over it, giving the centre a recessed look.  I stamped my sentiment and covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  Using the inner cutting dies from the Sumatra, I cut a black frame.  I peeled the backing paper off of the sticky adhesive sheet, added the frame, then coated the exposed adhesive with Diamond Sprinkles.  I seated this in the centre of the card on foam.  Using the Sweet William die set, I create three different sized flowers using the water scrunch technique.  I seated the largest on a thin satin ribbon bow in the lower corner.  Flat back pearls were added to the corners and matching mats were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7" in size.

The winners of this week's Comment Game are:

Pam in Hartlepool!!!
Fluffy Cat!!!
Patricia Youdell!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Dear Sue and Those Unified By Admiration for Sue,

I actually bought the Indonesian background Saturday at the only retailer in New England that has a few SW dies. So remarkable to decide on it and have it the same day! Then, at the second store we visited, which doesn't carry your dies, I saw a sample of the fire and ice technique using the Indonesian background! How do you think that happened? Perhaps the store owner saw your demo and was given the card at one of the trade shows in the U.S., perhaps a customer bought the die at the other store and made the sample from your blog and video instructions, or perhaps retailers were sent samples in hopes they'd carry SW dies. I've discarded my theory that someone connected with the store is a commenter and won the card in a Wednesday giveaway because it was a card that opened, not a flat piece set into multiple mats and layers with hand piercings.

Anyway, seeing fire and ice in real life changed my mind about the ice part, which granted makes everything under it rubbly, but wow! What a tactile sensation! Eye candy for the fingertips!

Well done Pam!!!

And Fluffycat and Patricia Youdell!

But, really, Pam, how long have you had to wait for the random number generator to generate the number 1?

In my imagining of how things work at Sue Wilson HQ, there's an assistant who has to 1.) generate the random number and count down the comment list to see who the winner is, 2.) do all those piercings for the samples that Sue holds up and the one she makes in the videos, 3.) cut and put mounting foam on all the parts that Sue says she did beforehand to save time in the video, 4.) make the flowers, bows and stick-pins and 5.) address, package and mail all the prizes.

Sue, if you do all this yourself, plus figure out the proportions, colors and layouts for all the samples, plus dream up new ranges, plus design new dies so they interact with each other, plus write the blog recipe, plus do the video demos, plus make appearances, whew! I'm exhausted just contemplating it.

Plus all the things we'd never imagine. And the travel. And assembling everything you need for each demo.

You deserve a raise!

(And I'm doing my best, apparently, to spend enough to make that happen!)

Enjoy your vacation, everybody who is free this week or joyfully burdened with cooking for a crowd under less-than-ideal conditions at the reunion site.

And rest easy, all who are recovering.

Love,
Donita
