You Make Me Smile

Hi bloggers!  I thought I would show you one of the Stamp To Die For designs on today's card.  I started by embossing some coconut white card with the Dahlia Garden embossing folder.  I cut a smaller strip of white card and used the Caelum Gemini die to cut the design into the sides of the card.  I backed it with black card to show through.  I added a raspberry card  and a black mat to the back and mounted it in the centre of the card.  I cut a Sumatra die out of white and nipped it in half.  Next I stamped the Vintage Iris Stamp To Die For  in black and cut it out with the matching outer die from the Sumatra set.  I cut one more of the same die out of black and cut it in half, using it as a shadow, then I added the cut Sumatra die to the edges as accents.  I mounted this entire piece in the middle of the card.  I stamped a sentiment and cut it out with a small oval die and added it to my focal element with mounting foam.  White, black ad raspberry mats and layers were then added to finish the card.  The final dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Elaine, I hope Mary's op goes through smoothly and she gets home soon. You will have an anxious wait fir news, try not to worry.
Rosemary, you sound as if you have had a lovely time with your sister, I'm so pleased for you.
Jackie, hope all goes well with the wedding, it doesn't seem that long since you were shopping for your daughters dress. I'm. Sure it will be a beautiful day.
Kitty, how did the Carnival weekend go, we don't seem to have them here any more, such a shame.
Pat hope the family got home safely
P, our dog was called Shep, we lived in a mining village, one day my little brother who was 4, got out of the gate and we couldn't find him, everyone was looking for him and he was found coming down the street, holding Sheos collar and the dog was bringing him home. They were inseparable . He got the biggest bone that day, my Mum was so pleased.
Daily hugs to all thinking if all missing and poorly friends, and their special carers.

Morning Sue. What a pretty start to our week. The sentiment is returned back to you with a big thank you tagged on. My first thoughts in this beautiful sample was that if you change the wording, it's 'simple' enough to be a sympathy card or 'thinking of you' card and although I say simple it's simple in a lovely way, hope you get my meaning.
I will finish my comment in the usual way by sending a package full of love n hugs. And the same folder you had through the post last week - found its way to mine too along with the rose folder too. See why you get the blame now ? Lol xxxxx

Dear Sue and Wilsonettes,

This one's so pretty. I admire your ability to color an iris and leaves in a realistic way. Do you learn about light and shadow in art school or does that come from drawing from life? It seems boggling to me.

Pam, thank you for the story about Shep and your little brother. Makes me feel good.

Jackie Trinder, yippee!!! Everything you've done will make your daughter's day shine, and it must be so satisfying to give her a beautiful wedding by your own hand.

Love,

Hi Sue
A very lovely card , loving the stamp dies and colours you have used .

Rosemary sounds like you had a good day, hope you phone line is up and working again today.

The nurse says i am doing very well with the wheels but need to ask the housing if they can put a device for opening the door automatically with the key ,they have this on the main front door to the building but as there are steps at the front i have to use the back door . The problem for me is getting back into the building , when i manage to unlock the heavy door it opens towards me ,and i have to hold it because it is swings back on its own ,their is also a little step i have to get the wheelie over ,having done this a few times my neck and shoulders are now giving me some pain . If we have any problems ,ideas etc we have to go through the warden
so i will see her later today.

Andrew is doing well after his treatment , he managed to clean his beloved Motorbike yesterday , and may pop over in the car to visit today.

Thank you for wishing Mary well , i hope to give you a good update tomorrow.

Pam well done to Shep , what a star i echo you again today thank you.

Big hugs to all
Take care

Good afternoon Sue and the wonderful family of Wilsonettes,
This is a lovely card Sue and i might just need to buy the die and stamp set as my friend Margaret wants a card for her old friend and i think that the design of this stamp would just suit her down to the ground. The stamp it's self could be used for so many occasions including that horrible one that i have yet to succeed in making a card for, as every time i try i end up in floods of tears. I know i should have some ready but it just brings me so down each time i try, that i end up going and buying a card for the person that's needed. The iris is such a beautiful flower that i love in any colour that it comes in, as it stands so majestically in a vase without the normal wilting that describes that it hasn't the strength to live, lol. Thank you flower for another lovely start to the week. I had Campbells nephews wedding on Saturday and of course he is dodging around getting himself organised but i still had Rory's things to press as he was going to his friends' sisters engagement party at night. He could have pressed them while he was doing his own, but no, that was too much trouble and then he's yelling that i'm holding him up. Yes, he's out the garden having a puff on that contraption that he has and sauntering around when i'm organised and telling me that it's too early yet to go....we made it with 4 minutes to spare. Why, because of course what was happening in Alloa on Saturday...the big Orange Walk rally that seemingly comes every 10 years or so and by the time he got himself organised and into the car, we were amidst a whole parade of buses and coaches going back home to their various destinations. Since i don't drink i was the driver but it was such a long, long day and i had to wait until 11 pm before i could go and collect Rory from his party. That was funny as i had to make him a card for the couple but he didn't want to stick it shut, he wanted it to close in a different way. I had to make up a flower pick of roses and heather, and thread it through the envelope to act as a closure for him. My son most definitely takes after his mother poor lad. Yesterday was a sleep day because by then i was absolutely done in. His other nephew didn't realize that Rory and I had only found out about the wedding the week beforehand. His nibs had been seemingly been told about it weeks before, which sounds about right for my husband. The bridegrooms uncle said about Mrs McPhee looking beautiful and since there was 3 Mrs McPhees now i asked him which Mrs McPhee was he talking about in particular. It turned out that it was our great niece Chloe that he actually meant who is just a Miss at the moment. I don't think he realized that there were two others apart from the new one who is the baby of us all, i'm the long standing one and my new sister in law has only been upgraded in the last 18 months. I'm awful glad that i didn't wear what i had been going to wear and my sister in law had that outfit on and lets face it, two Mrs McPhees with the same outfit was one too many, lol but at least i had good taste.
We are having a strange kind of a day up here at the hills today as it doesn't know whether it want's to rain or not and the sun has decided to have the week off i see. Oh well, never mind it's a new day with new possibilities for everyone. So i will wish you all a lovely day wherever you might be and i hope that it is a better day for our friends that are going through a rough spot. Sending hugs to all Wilsonettes,
love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

To My Wonderful Dear Friend Sue,
I Always Just Truly Love It When You Design "Stamps" To Go With Your
"Luxurious" Cutting Dies, As I've Mentioned Before I'm A Stamper First Of All, Plus Now
Having Cutting Dies To Match Its Literally A Match Made In Heaven.....
Products Used In Today's Card:-
"Creative Expression Coconut White/Black/Raspberry Foundation Card"
"Creative Expression White Flat Backed Pearls"
"Creative Expression Mounting Foam"
"Creative Expression Cosmic Shimmer Specialist Acrylic Glue" (You Use On All Your Cards)
"Creative Expression Dahlia Garden Embossing Folder". (Just So Unique)
"Creative Expression Vintage Iris Stamp" (From The Stamps To Die For Range Designed By Sue Wilson)
"Creative Expression Sentiment "You Make Me Smile". (Just So Very Apt)
"Rangers Jet Black Archival Ink" (For Stamping) (Possibly Tim Holtz Colouring Pens To Give Colour To Your Image?)
Star's In Today's Card:-
"Sue Wilson's Sumatra Cutting Dies" (From "The Indonesian Collection")
"Sue Wilson's Caelum Cutting Die Set" (From "The Gemini Collection")
You Started Today's "Phenomenal Card" By Embossing A Piece Of "Coconut White Card" Using
"The Dahlia Garden Embossing Folder" (Quite Stunning Results So Detailed) You Took A Smaller Strip Of
"Coconut White Card" Then You Used "The Caelum Cutting Die Set" To Cut A Beautiful Design Into Each Sides
Of "The Coconut White Card" You Backed This With "Black Card" To Show Through, You Also Added A "Raspberry
Card/Black Mat/Layer You Added "Mounting Foam" To The Back.
Then You Placed It In The Centre Of Your Outstanding Embossed Background.
Sue, You Cut Out "The Sumatra Cutting Die" Out Of "Coconut White Card" Once Cut Out, You Cut The Die In Half.....
Next Using "Black Archival Ink" (Ink Which You Use 99% Of The Time) You Stamped "The Vintage Iris Stamp"
You Cut It Out Using The Matching "Outer Cutting Die" From "The Sumatra Cutting Die" (Superb)
You Cut Once Again In "Black Card" Cutting This In Half To Use As A Shadow To Your Stamped Image.
Sue, Then You Added The Cut Out "Sumatra Die" (Which You Out In Coconut White Card) To The Edges
As Accents You Mounted This Entire Piece In The Middle Of Your "Exceptional Card" Adding "Mounting Foam"
For Dimension, You Stamped Your Sentiment "You Make Me Smile" Cutting It Out Using A Small Oval Cutting Die,
Adding "Mounting Foam" To The Back Then Adding To Your Main Focal Element.
You Placed Your Embossed Background Using "Cosmic Shimmer Specialists Acrylic Glue" Onto A Piece Of
"Coconut White Card" Which You'd Done Your "Famous/Signature/Piercing Sue, Then You Added
"Raspberry/Black/Coconut White Card Mat/Layers Adding A Few "Flat Backed Pearls" Here/There
Sue, Thank You So Very Much For The Inspiration I Truly Appreciate Everything You Do.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a beautiful card Sue, you are just sooo talented, thanks for the inspiration.
Just a quick message to give you all a heads up on where things stand with my nemesis Yvonne and me:-)
I havent been able to use the computer or watch TV for the past week, i thought that it was just my Hydrocephalus pressing down on my optic nerve but the sensitivity to light, pain and discomfort, swelling and redness continued to deteriorate as the week progressed,,,,i am wearing large sunglasses in darkened rooms at the moment to alleviate the symptoms. I booked to see my optician and he gave me a right roasting, wanting to know why I hadn't come in sooner....he immediately referred me to the emergency eye clinic in Falkirk, i had an hour to get there! It seems that i have Keratitis again which are ulcers on the cornea that leave permanent scarring, and after a 2 hour wait i was given steroid eye drops to apply every 2 hours. I'm hoping that the effects will enable me to watch Sues shows on Wednesday and the rest of Wimbers....i never realised just how bright a tennis grass court could be!
Dear Yvonne has spookily been having similar problems, all of hers craft related though.....she somehow managed to empty a pot of glitter straight in to her eyes and scratched the surface! She too is having problems with light etc and is avoiding laptops and TV also. She is on a course of antibiotic eyedrops to solve the problem and will be back as soon as possible.
I havent been able to read any comments for the past week and i am getting my Mum to slowly type my message so apologies for any grammatical errors....she isnt a graduate like myself:-) Hopefully i will be back on form soon. Love and hugs to all my besties, hope that you are all wellxxx

Love and crafty hugs
