Recessed Aperture Background Card

Hi crafters!  Cutting an aperture into a background makes for a very interesting card design.  It is so easy to do and you can watch the video and follow along if you like!

The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Lovely card Sue, beautiful. Love the sentiment too.
Rosemary, wonderful news, the best you could have hoped for, I'm so happy for you.
Yvonne, hapoy belated birthday greetings, you sound as if you have had a wonderful time, now rest up. Are your eyes healed now .
Barbara, I am sorry to hear you gave been so poorly but good news that you are home and resting. I too had pneumonia and heart problems, please take care of yourself, get well soon.
Elaine, my dear friend, you have had so much to deal with this past year, you don't have much time to yourself. I too think that you should take time out, you may wish to go back to it some day. An electronic machine would be perfect for you. We don't want to lose you off the blog. Poor Andrew what a disastrous trip he had, and his team losing would be the last straw.
Myra, so glad your migraine has eased, nasty things.
Daily hugs to all, our poorly and missing friends especially., wondering how Laine is.

Hi Sue. What a beautiful sample this morning very classic very Sue. We always hope friends can do this but sometimes we learn that only a true genuine trustworthy friend is worth such a lovely statement like this and I've been tripped up by being too trustworthy but we learn by the life lessons thrown at US right ?
I'm really looking forward to watching your tutorial when my two go for walkies in the next few minutes ☺ the colour match is gorgeous and I just know I will see some replicas of this in different colour schemes on a couple of fb groups and it always amazes me how a change of colour can change the whole look.
Wishing you a day of love fun sunshine and happiness xxx

Hi Sue
Such a lovely card great use of the dies i love it .

Barbara , so sorry to read you have been so poorly, welcome home, just get plenty of rest and you will soon be your self again soon i am sure .

Well my friends how can i give up crafting after reading Carmen's message ,i will hang fire for a while and see if things get any easier .
I think everything is getting on top of me at the moment perhaps ? Andrew told me his uncle { my Lovely brother } was having a problem with his chest on Sunday when they were walking ,i saw him yesterday and he assured me it was wind ,with having nothing to eat, i just wish he would get it checked out .
We are going to see him later along with a visit to Mary who is doing very well.
Andrew was out of sorts yesterday but this is usual days 4-5 are always rough for him after treatment .
I have waffled long enough with my problems so will echo all of Pam's lovely comments again today and wish you all well.
Big hugs

Dear Sue,

Love, love, love this! Makes me wish I had the Indonesian background. My Java just came, and I've had Sumatra since its release. Perhaps something else can be subbed in for the background. Anyway, I enjoyed the video's many surprises.

Rosemary, I'm overjoyed at your good news from the doctor. Way to go, you! And Crewe Trish, lovely of you to mention me with Carmen. And Carmen, so gracious of you.

Barbara, glad you're back among us. And Myra, thanks for the tip on how to see the craft blog rankings. Sue deserves her high standing in every way. While you're catching up on the blog, Myra, and you happen to run across how Sharon or her husband got hurt, will you fill me in? Somehow I missed that story.

Elaine, perhaps you could let it be known that you are wishing everyone who loves you will join forces for the next several occasions to give you a Gemini. Meanwhile, maybe you could find a young crafter who would be willing to turn the crank for you in exchange for payments In stash, or you could teach her how to make cards and let her use some of your SW dies. You might enjoy devoting a day to your favorite pursuits occasionally as an exercise in remembering who you are outside of looking after everyone.

Alternatively, sometimes doing nothing can be the best use of your time! Everyone wants to see you taking good care of yourself.

Thank you Pam and Carmen for summing up, and Stephanie Cotterill, you have the best sign-off line!
Love,
Donita

Elaine I'm so glad you've had a change of heart. If you've got time to go through your stash to get rid of things you don't use and bits of card we all keep but never use then pack things away so you can leave them for a time until you are all in a better place. I think as a crafter you will regret giving everything away on a rash decision. Definately save up for a Gemini though as I think this will make you excited to craft again. I hope you still decide to comment from time to time, we will miss you but all understand. Sending love and hugs xxx

Hi Sue,

What a classy card!...love the colour scheme and the dies you've used and that sentiment is so true...will have to watch the video later as have a busy morning ahead of me.

Elaine - just take some time out for yourself, you've really been through the mill lately...and maybe take a look at one of the electric mangles that are on the market now rather than struggling with the Calibur but whatever you do, don't sell off your crafty tools, (the cost of the dies alone would be terrifying wouldn't it) just sort out some of the accumulated stash of cardstock, etc. things you can live without that just clutter up the craft room and take a mini break from crafting...

Barbara Macaskill - you have had a very difficult time !! So lovely to have you back and I hope you soon feel very much better.
Elaine - I'm glad you've had a rethink! You may have regretted getting rid of everything! Izzy's advice sounded good to me! I know you said you'd still look in here anyway but one of these days Sue may just show something that makes you want to craft again! I hope so.
Rosemary - great news! I think you made everyone's day as well as your own! Lovely to have good news!

Princess Pixie! said...

Hi Sue
I so love the 'recessed aperture'. Going to take special care and attention whilst watching the video so I can remember to use this technique when next I make it into my crafty space x
I would like to question the sentiment - there are certain friends who certainly do not bring out the best in me. They manage to bring out all my wicked traits - eh Laine x
Hope this comment is not such a shock to everyone as yesterdays - Myra x
Barbara - oh my - you poor thing - big hugs. Nothing nicer than getting back to your own bed x
Carmen - don't know any other Princesses - but I spoke to my common friend Laine last week. Her eyes are still incredibly sensitive but she promises to be back as soon as she is able x
Elaine - I think the others may have managed to change your mind but I can't help sticking my nose in!! Have a break from crafting then 'dabble' when you can. I think if you get rid of everything you might feel relieved in the short term then somewhere down the line you may start to regret it. I had a big clear out and got rid of absolutely loads of 'stuff' which had been taking up space. I gave it to a neighbour who volunteers with cancer patients and they have crafting sessions. She was over the moon and I felt quite liberated! Not only had I managed to make space but was so delighted that my 'rubbish' was going to be put to good use. I would highly recommended treating yourself to an electric die cutting machine - I could not be without mine. Okay - lecture over with. Hugs to you and yours x
Rosemary - such fabulous news - HOORAY. Delighted for you - lots of love x
Got a few bits and pieces to sort then watching a film with the boys this evening. It is rare that we all watch something together. I feel a popcorn fest coming on x
Thank you all for your birthday wishes x
Happy thoughts and lots of love to everyone especially my blog besties x
Take care

Hi Sue. I watched the video this morning and then forgot to comment on the post (I must be getting old).
