Celebrate Your Special Day

Hi bloggers!  Back to a Fire and Ice card (just can't stay away to long, now can I!) LOL   I cut four of the Indonesian Borders out of black card.  I covered four strips of black card with sticky adhesive sheets and cut out just the outline of the border.  I peeled off the backing paper and lined them up with the decorative borders and attached them, then gilded the remaining exposed adhesive with Gemstones Gilding Flakes.  I repeated the process with the corners from the same set.  I cut a square of black card and glued the borders all the way around the edge, cutting off the excess.  I glued the corners on top and added pearls.  For the focal element, I coated the Island Blooms stamp with Flake and Glitter glue and stamped it onto black card.  I allowed it to turn clear, then gilded it with the same flakes.  I used a Rubit Scrubit pad to refine and remove the excess flake.  I seated it on a backing cut out of white card from the Sumatra die set.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the inner die, added a gold edge to it with a paint pen and attached it to the centre of the card.    White and black mats were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  7 1/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue, love this beautiful card.
It is blowing a Hoolie (gale) here, has been very windy and rainy since last evening, where has our summer gone.
Rosemary, good luck for today, we are all with you, hope all goes well for you.
Sharon, so glad you are recovering well. The wound should heal well now that the stitches are out.
Maureen, still smiling about your wonderful offer, you are a gem but I won't be going to Longbenton, 2021, I think I will be long retired by then but thank you , poor George, could he cope with 2 crafters in the house.
Elaine, hope Andrewhad a brilliant time and has not tired himself too much.
Nikki, sounds lovely to regularly see such beautiful sunsets over Lake Eyrie, lucky you.
Crewe Trish, thank your granddaughter, she made me feel better.
Fluffycat, why should you feel guilty, just enjoy your prize .
Carmen, your English us fine, I forget that it is not your first language. Donita us right, you tell the story and make me feel as if I am there, a rare talent.
Have a good day everyone, keep warm, dry and safe. Hugs to all especially our missing and poorly friends. Norah, Laine, Yvonne, hope all if you are okay and getting better.

Morning Sue. This is a beautiful card, very rich and opulent. I do love the Fire & Ice technique but then again I do like trying new things. The weather here is horrible the rain has been lashing down since yesterday afternoon and its still raining but now the wind is getting up. So much for it been summer time. Take care everyone if you have to go out in it.

Oh my - what a fabulously rich and opulent looking card. It is amazing. The fire and ice technique always takes my breath away - it is so wonderful x
Sorry for not commenting last 3 days. The cards are all amazing. Particularly like yesterdays card - beautiful interpretation of said beach towel - very impressive. Even more impressive - you at the gym - how did you squeeze that into your schedule? x
It was my birthday on Friday and to cut a long story short I have been spoilt rotten and wined and dined non stop since Friday morning and all weekend. I got in yesterday tea time after a long lazy lunch at a friends and went straight to bed as I was worn out x
Do not be too unnerved by the early comment today - I woke at about 4 and have just come back to bed with a coffee - this will not be a regular occurrence x
No more breakfast lunch or dinner dates planned so I am planning to comment daily x
Apologies for not being up to date with everyone - my aim for this week is to rectify this x
Happy thoughts and lots of love to everyone specially my blog besties x
Take care

PP happy belated birthday for Friday , so pleased you were spoilt .

Rosemary my thoughts are with you today ,stay positive .xxx

Well Andrew and his uncle had an horrendous day from start to finish, it took them 5 and a half hours to get to Cardiff with the traffic and a detour so they missed their turning, then they could not find a parking space , so thought they would be ok parking on waste ground bearing in mind they would have to walk about a mile , managed to get to the venue just 5 mins before the start .then on going back to the car they had a parking ticket fine, called in two pubs hoping to get a meal on the way home with no luck as they had stopped serving so they gave up ,and it took them 4 hours to get home it was then, 1 30 in the morning . oh and their team lost . What !!!

I will echo Pam again today
Big hugs to all.

Getting quite cold here now at 4.30 pm but the weather has been beautiful the last few days, about 20 deg C in the day but very crisp cold nights. Hard to believe it is the middle of winter. One week and we will be taking off for your northern summer in New York, looking forward to longer days.

Hi Sue,

Wow!...this is a stunner!...always love your blingy cards and this one is a beaut - you forgot to mention which glitter you used for the topper but the close-ups show what looks like tiny discs so I'm assuming it was Iced Snow and that's my favourite way of adding sparkle too...

Betty McAlister - never tried Fire & Ice?....girl, you don't know what you're missing...lol

Elaine - had to smile re Andrew's disappointing Cardiff trip - which gutted them most?...the parking ticket, no dinner or their team losing?...

Dear Sue,

Your card is glorious! Blaze of glory, like Ann Toppcards said. Your shot of the bottom left corner really shows the glow of the gilding flakes. I have to say that when you do fire and ice, I always like the fire part better. Maybe if gilding flakes came in ice blue colors. And silver instead of gold. What is the silver version of gilding?

All the best to you, Rosemary, at your appointment. Let love surround you.

Carmen, I do remember you saying that English is not your first language. But when you told the story of the Kid's farewell lunch, I was right there, and when I finished reading, I found myself wishing for more. So I wasn't joking. In fact I had to eat a little humble pie because I'd like to write that well in my only language.

Nice to see you back, Yvonne! Happy Belated !!!

And Sue, congratulations on reaching 5,000 followers! Wow!

Love,
Donita

Hello Sue,
I'm sorry my remarks have been a bit cursory but the dreaded Migraine struck again! Feel sooo much better today!
Before I forget - ladies if you press the button at the top of Sue's Blog which has her number on it it will take you to the blog list! It's not exactly a level playing field but that isn't anyone's fault! Number 1 is usually Hobbycraft! If you look at the number of hits they have per day - it's an awful lot but Hobbycraft covers an awful lot of crafts! No matter how hard we try we won't beat that - however that doesn't mean Sue isn't our No 1. I've been meaning to do this for ages . Apologies to those who already know this!!
Today's card is gorgeous! Have I missed some new " glitter flakes?" I'm also interested to see the new CE Masking Fluid in action! It has me intrigued!
PP - belated birthday wishes! It's lovely to see you!

Well i have finally decided to give up my craft making, i am finding i have not got much time with one thing and another and i seem to be doing less and less , not to mention that every time i use my calibur i am finding it more and more difficult to turn the handle and i seem to always have a painful neck for a few days afterwards , my problem now is getting rid of all my stash ,it is much to good to throw away as i have card , papers, dies , ribbons, scrap booking items , flowers ,stamps all the usual stash we all have and i can not upload pics for e/bay off this old lap top . so have you any ideas Ladies ?
Oh i must add i will most certainly log on every day to see Sues beautiful creations and pin them to my Pinterest board .xx

Hi Sue, sorry I am a little late today but we have our second summer's day this month and decided to go out for a run in the car, avoiding as many tourists on the roads as possible. Today's card is stunning and I think the really light central piece helps lift it away from the black surround. The Gemstones Gilding Flakes are lovely.

PP - Happy belated Birthday greetings, you certainly know how to celebrate!
Rosemary - so happy for you that your news was good.
Elaine - no more crafting? Why not just take a break like 'P' in Wales and start again later in the year. Maybe you could save up for an electric machine in the meantime to save your poor neck. Good Luck with whatever you choose to do.
