Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi there my crafty friends!  Thanks so much for the wonderful comments for the die launch this past week, so glad to hear that you liked them!  Back on our usual schedule now, but I have a bit of an extra for you today.  I have two versions of this card and I will be giving them both away.  So leave a comment on this blog post for the chance to win one of the versions of these cards.    I started by letterpressing the background and that is the only difference between these.  On one version I inked one side of the embossing folder and on the other version, I inked the opposite side of the folder.  It is sort of nice to be able to comp-are and contrast the differences though I think.  I used the Let It Snow embossing folder and inked it with Cloudy Blue Adirondack pigment ink.  I inserted coconut white card into the folder and ran it through the Grand Calibur to transfer the ink to the card.  For the centre section, I cut the Snowflake mini Striplet out of white card and backed it with a sticky adhesive sheets.  I coated the front with Diamond Sprinkles to fill in all the exposed adhesive areas, then matted it with white and blue card, raising it with foam for dimension.  For the focal element, I letterpressed the Debossed snowflake die using Cloudy blue ink as well.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the snowflake tag and attached it across the die cut in the centre of the card.  Finally I finished with my usual mats and layers but added a frame of white PVA glue dots all the way around.  The finished dimensions are 7 3/4" x  8 1/4" in size.  Which version do you prefer?  The winners will be announced on Saturday's blog post.

Julia Watts has more shows on Hochanda today.  Be sure to tune in at 9am, 12 noon, 4pm and 7pm to see all her great demos!   All for now, Sue x

Good afternoon Sue and Wilsonettes! WOW, two absolutely gorgeous cards today...what a windfall. The winners of these beautiful creations will be so lucky! Your new die launch has been amazing and my "Wish Lust" (thank you Rebecca for that title) is bulging at the seams!

I've been rather busy so have not had time to read all of the comments over the past few days but have skimmed through.
Melody and Molly, I'm so glad that Francis is home and I hope that he continues to improve
Tracy, I'm glad the first treatment went well but sorry to hear that you had a bad night and are feeling sickly today. Sending hugs!
Cheryl, feel better!
Lorraine F. I'm sure your wreath is beautiful.
Yvonne, love your posts.
Wheely Bad and Laine, I'd love to hear your 90's stories. I bet they'd be a best seller.

We are getting ready to spend Thanksgiving week in Florida with our daughter, son-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren. We're leaving on Sunday and returning the following Saturday. So far, we have the Magic Kingdom, Legoland and Sea World on our list of parks. Our oldest grandson has yet to pick his park so they'll be another one. We'll get to spend Thanksgiving day with one of my brothers and his lovely wife so I'm very excited about that too. I'll probably be MIA from this blog for most of next week but will try to stop in if the children don't wear me out. Lol. Looking forward to reading your posts for the rest of this week.

Have a beutiful day and evening everyone!

Both cards are beautiful It may be my screen but the second one looks more complicated because of the way the embossed snowflakes really pop and miraculously are still white! Who'd have thought it was the same technique!

They are both stunning and beautiful, the difference between inking each side of the embossing
folder is amazing.

Both cards are so beautiful. It's hard to believe there's only one difference between them. I think I prefer the second one (marginally) for the extra colour and because it shows the background snowflakes more. Lovely.

Just goes to show, there's no right or wrong just different, and both beautiful.

Wow....amazing how different something looks just by changing one little thing. Glad you did this for us to show the versatility of the embossing folders. I love them both, but will admit I'm a bit partial to the with the most blue.

Thanks!

Beautiful double offering of your snowy cards. I think I like the second one better due to the fact the pearl drops show up better on this one. They almost make me wish the snow would start falling in this area where I live. Almost! The snow will come soon enough. We are way over due for our first snow and our snowy season will last for many months.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Well, if I thought today would be an anti climax after all of the excitement generated by the launch I was wrong, big time!
I didn't realise just how much I have missed your festive cards, they provide me with so much inspiration and fire up my enthusiasm- I am way behind on the production front but this little gem would be an ideal project to kick start me into action again. It's always super difficult to choose between your mini masterpieces, but in this instance, if I was pushed on pain of death, I would plump for number two simply because I prefer the stronger colour tones. As if you haven't been generous enough with your launch giveaways, you offer us twice the chance to win one of your much sought after works of art- I would beg, plead and cajole you into choosing me but I have decided that I am beneath such crude, embarrassing behaviour, I could also claim to be your most loyal and adoring subject but that too would be distasteful, instead , I will wish all my fellow Wilsonettes good luck in the draw, the winners will truly be blessed,,,,can I just say that if we ever meet I would most certainly become your favourite rather than Yvonne who had to resort to blatant bribery in the form of homemade fudge:-)
I have been feeling decidedly dodgy today, the antibiotics are making me feel very queasy and I'm struggling to eat- my temperature keeps spiking and I feel rather lacklustre. I had a Cardmaking afternoon scheduled with Gill, my friend, who is a novice Sue devotee so I gave myself a kick up the bum because I didn't want to disappoint her. I really didn't feel like crafting myself so I coached her through a Sue designed Christmas card and showed her how to use texture paste-she was so pleased with the results that I was glad I could help and hadn't cancelled on her
I had an ulterior motive for keeping our date, I wanted to give her my Grand Calibur because she only has a Cuttlebug and can't do larger dies and EFs- I had decided to upgrade to the new Platinum machine and since it was such a bargain on Hochanda I couldn't resist....I knew Gill had been lusting after a GC so it made perfect sense to just give her mine. Besides, she's so traumatised by Brodies constant help/interference that I felt I had to make it up to her:-)....she detests cats, hard to believe I know, and freaks out when he tries to give her a helpful paw or two- he senses her displeasure and plays on it, it's quite comical to watch though quite tortuous for Gill, so she deserved a treat after her ordeal:-)
Tracy, you poor sweetie, insomnia and nauseousness is a lot to contend with, no wonder your feeling low, I hope things improve for you and you can find some solace in crafting to occupy you through the treatment process. There's not a lot I can say that will make this situation easier for you, just know that we are here for you every step of the way, through good days and most importantly bad onesxxx
Cheryl, sorry to hear you've been suffering too, glad to hear you're feeling perkierxx
Lorraine F, I am a perfectionist too, nothing I create is ever good enough but try not to be so hard on yourself and focus on the pleasure creating something bringsxxx
Yvonne, hope you're ok honey and not suffering from overstimulation after the blog launch- is it today that you're on babysitting duty?
Much love to all my buddies, Beth, Maria,Rebecca, jan, theresa, Wheely bad and Billy and anyone else needing a squeezed
Take care

Both cards are beautiful, but I do have to say I like the one with the white snowflakes a little bit better. Thanks for showing us the two different versions so we can compare the difference depending on which side of the embossing folder is inked.

Both are beautiful and hard to decide which one I prefer. The one with more blue showing is my pick. I'm thinking a pale blue glitter under the striplet would make it pop, I think. Would like to try it--BUT first have to order the embossing folder and striplet!

This is another stunning card. I love that you created it with two different letterpress styles so we can see there really is a difference between emboss and deboss. I honestly love both and would be over the moon if I were blessed to receive either one. The details you include when you craft a card are such an inspiration and inspire me to look at my projects with a keener eye. I am learning so much from you. Thank you!

I love how you did the reverse colors with the cards. I need to try this when I start my Christmas cards. My family would be overjoyed if I could make my cards look even half as good as yours.

Thanks so much for sharing your ideas.
