Mica Letterpressed Background

Hi crafty friends!  Today's video shows how to do the letterpressing technique, but with mica powder instead of inks.  It is a bit softer and more subtle, but very pretty nonetheless.  I hope you enjoy watching it!

The finished dimensions are 7" x  7 3/4" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue
Beautiful card and I will look forward to watching the video later.
I have been missing from here since Thursday (explanation to follow), but I have just had a quick (very quick), look back at all the cards and as expected there is not one that I do not love.
I always find myself smiling when I see anything that you have created. You are most definitely the Van Gough of the crafting world. And as for your new dies - well - once again you have just excelled yourself with a collection that could turn a decent upstanding girl to a life of crime to finance her craving for a myriad of delights which is your new assortment of pure joy.
I am now thinking that it should be law that all things Sue Wilson should be available on the national health. How many names are needed on a petition to result in a discussion in parliament.
Had a very busy few days. Friday was spent preparing for the event of the year - our pyrotechnics event which would have been worthy of the Olympic opening ceremony. I spent much of Friday helping Jake collate a play list of music to accompany his display. Said playlist began with the music from Space Odyssey and the grand finale was Carmina Burana.
All was going swimmingly and well on Saturday until my mother in law went to hospital with my sister in law as she was feeling under the weather and was breathless. Long story cut very short - turns out she had had a heart attack earlier in the week and didn't know. She has been kept in indefinitely.
Yesterday she had an angiogram and heart scan and they inserted 3 stents, for now. There is a possibility she may need more. She has fluid on her lung which is what was the cause of the breathing difficulties.
Jake is incredibly close to his nan and was adamant that we should cancel the fireworks. He spoke to his nan and she insisted that he go ahead as she knew how much he had been looking forward to it and how much preparation and planning had taken place over the last few weeks.
Got to hand it to Jake - it was amazing and everybody who came (about 70 people) were bowled over and 'blown away' (pardon the pun)! It was a lovely evening with a chance to catch up with some good friends who we haven't seen for a while. Folks already asking if he will be doing another 'ceremony' next year. I think annually might be pushing it but every 2 years is a possibility.
Back to my mother in law. She has been told that she has got to make a lot of changes. The biggest one is to give up smoking. She has been a heavy smoker for years so this is going to prove a huge challenge requiring much support from us all.
I am going to see her this afternoon. I went to see her on Sunday afternoon so it will be interesting to see if there is an improvement since the stents were put in yesterday.
I will be honest and confess that I have yet to try and catch up on all comments.
The events of the last few days has been quite exhausting and I am not sure what my name is let alone what day it is. Lol!
Lots of love to everyone
Crafty hugs

Good morning Sue. What a beautiful elegant card today. Thank you so much for the great video. It was so full of great information...from the gorgeous mica letterpress technique to creating the frame and using the Graceful Lace configuration die to make that frame look so elegant. The Bed of Roses EF is my absolute favorite.

Laine, you can say what you want but I will still insist that you're a gem.
Yvonne, I'm so glad your fireworks display was a huge success but was so sorry to hear about your Mother-in-law. Hope she is well soon and follows all of the doctor's orders.
Huge hugs to Molly, Melody, Francis, Tracy, Linda, Wheely Bad and everyone who is in need.

2015 has not been a very good year for me. I lost two of my best friends and my younger brother and then my oldest brother had a stroke. One of the friends I lost, Sandy, would have been 54 this week and she was all about celebrating life. So, tonight five other friends and I are going out to dinner to celebrate her birthday. I know that is something she would have wanted. Looking forward to being with the friends who loved her as much as I did.

Have a beautiful day everyone!

Hi sue and crafty friends.
Awww I love ur card. I don't have mica powders but I'll get some at some point probably lol.
I just love ur videos sue u give so much info and make card making look like a doddle. It probably is to u tho lol xx

Well ladies yesterday went a lot better than I expected. 15 eggs were removed. God I could hardly walk leaving the hospital my belly was so sore with cramps it was killing me to move.
Anyways they called today to tell me that 10 were successfully fertilised and good to be frozen.
Other news was at oncology and chemo will start next week if they can get me a time slot if not then it will definately be the following week.
So I need to go get my wig appt sorted. I feel as tho I've not had time to think!!! Everything has moved so quickly with all my treatments. Not s bad thing I guess.

Thanks everyone for ur kind comments it's really keeping me going.
Just reading some of ur comments has me in stitches. Especially Laine 1972 she's a riot!!

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a classic, it has all of the elements that I love about your Cardmaking Sue- everything from the tone on tone colour choice, some piercing, a Noble frame, a bit of bling for the sentiment and background AND that old favourite, the Bed of Roses EF. I so admire the style and sophistication of your cards, they are consistently stunning and I just wish that I had a smidgen of your talent. I haven't done letter pressing yet, I'll clearly have to pull my finger out!:-)
The weather was predictably dire again but luckily I didn't have to brave the elements again today, just a mini mountain of ironing to scale instead so no Cardmaking for me today I'm afraid:-(, but a lovely clean bed instead- nice to climb into on a dark, miserable evening with the electric blanket hot enough to give third degree burns, a cold can of coke and my favourite shows on Sky+, ahhh!
I'm not looking forward to tomorrow, I have a minor surgical procedure scheduled to remove four cancerous areas on my chest and torso- I've had quite a few done in the past, I'm like a patchwork quilt, so I know the score but sometimes that makes it worse. I consider myself fortunate that so far I can be treated with surgery alone whilst so many people have to face the gruelling prospect of radio or chemo therapy:-)
Jan, you are a lovely lady, so generous and kind, and my heart goes out to you at having to face such a traumatising year- to lose on loved one is bad enough, but three is beyond painful, you must feel numb with grief:-( what a fantastic way to honour your friends memory, I'm sure she will be delighted with your thoughtfulness and celebrating along with you all in her own way- I believe that our departed loved ones are always close by giving us support, it can be a great comfort to believe that we will be together again one day....
I hope that your brother is faring well after his stroke, it can be a long hard slog back to full functioning afterwards so my thoughts are with you bothxxxx
Yvonne, I'm so glad you and your boys enjoyed your pyrotechnic extravaganza though it must have been bitter sweet considering the worry you are all feeling. Having had a heart attack and blood clots in my lungs last year I have a sense of what your MIL must be experiencing, however, it is usually much harder for the families of the patient than the patient themselves because they are in the best hands possible but you must feel totally helpless and worried sick. Hopefully she is now on the mend and the stent does the trick- both my grandparents had massive heart attacks in their early sixties but went on to live well into their eighties with no other problems. The most challenging aspect is to give up the cigarettes so I wish her luck with thatxxxxMissed you these past days though honeyxxx
Tracy, hope you are on the road to recovery after yesterday and that you have managed to have a well deserved pj day- sometimes the most tiring thing about attending hospital is the travelling and the waiting time around your appointment so I hope you aren't too exhausted, in this instance though it will be well worth itxxx
Hearty hugs to Melody, Francis, Molly, Beth , Rebecca, Deb C, Wheely Bad, Theresa and all my friends who are in need of a good cuddlexxx Wishing you all a good evening,

Crafty hugs,

Laine1972xxxx

Hi Sue

I love this technique, it's a long time favourite of mine. I don't remember whether I saw you or julia do it first but for as long as I've had embossing folders I have done it. The move to A4 folders has really allowed this technique to be a 'top of the table' favourite with many crafters- long may it continue! The card is a beauty, I intend to get the Nobles I don't have in the next few months as they are fantastic. I make no secret of my love of colouring stamps, digi's and drawings I've done myself and the Nobles make great frames. Looking forward to John's next shows with your dies too, hugs for you and Mom from Billy and myself xxx

Yvonne you must've been so proud of your son Saturday, and so worried for mum in law. Re giving up smoking the hospital with probably advocate conventional nicotine therapy but this only works if someone really wants to give up. She may be in hospital long enough that it breaks the addiction and the habit forcefully. They should have a cessation nurse at the hospital or doctors surgery to help her if she needs it. I hope she'll be ok, got my fingers crossed for her, hugs to all of you x

Jan, I hope your memorial dinner is wonderful. I lost one of my best friends in 2003 and I still miss him as does everyone who knew and love him. Though we may shed a tear when we talk about him we must laugh many more times over. You've had a lot of loss this year and I hope the dinner is a comfort, sending many hugs x

Tracy, I'm delighted today was a success, on the other hand I'm sorry you hurt so much. I'm so happy you have had a positive day. Re wigs, I can't help you with that but if you want a nice knitted or crochet hat I'm your gal! Sending many hugs x

Melody and Molly, Molly, I've always been a dreadful morning person. Sorry Grandad Francis felt so poorly today. I do hope he feels better tomorrow. I will be thinking of him and sending good thoughts his way. Sending many hugs for all of you x

Lorraine, Nothing like fresh bed linen,an electric blanket (my heat mat does similar!) and sky+! I must admit when I have a bed day or an early night with the sky+ it does feel good to spoil yourself! Has to be diet coke for me and i had sone last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be thinking of you all day. I wouldn't know if it's worse or better knowing what's coming. All I do know is that your sense of humour and your compassion for other peoples struggles makes you a lovely person deserving of some good karma. I hope the procedure is a complete success with as little pain as possible and I'm wishing you a speedy recovery, sending many hugs x

Beth, Rebecca, is everything ok? Sendins
What am I doing on the blog at 3am GMT? Too much sleep over the past week or so and I remembered at 2:15am I hadn't visited and I knew it was a big day Tuesday and Wednesday for some and I know that I don't know when I'll next visit as intention and ability are not often in sync! Regardless of that, hugs to all of you. I have plenty going spare if you need extras,

Anonymous...the animal issue was previously addressed - neighbors made aware well in advance. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but if you feel you must voice it in a judgmental manner, you could at least sign your name. You might also think about getting the whole story first and having an idea of the character of the person before assuming the worst. Let's support one another here instead of tear down. I don't know you, but I would defend you too if I thought you were being unfairly judged. Rebecca in CO

After watching all your beautiful YouTube demos, Sue Wilson got my crafting mojo up and running again. Shopped till I dropped and now patiently awaiting the parcel post.

Thank you Sue.
