Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hi there my crafty friends!  The Christmas Angel for 2015 just had to make an appearance on the giveaway day at some point so here she is!  Another card that was done as a demo on Hochanda too.  I started with the background which was a bit of a lark I had one day and rather liked the way it turned out.  Using a piece of white card and white tissue paper, I tore it into pieces, crumpled it and adhered it to the card using Cosmic Lacquer.  I made sure that it was overlapped and scrunched up for some texture.  I laid it aside to dry thoroughly before proceeding onto the next step.  I used several colours of the Colour Cloud inks and pounced colour on using smoothies.  I used an assortment of colours which included Ocean Blue, Plum Cobbler, Violet Haze, Fresh Grass and Chic Blue Grey if memory serves me, however, this technique can be done with any colours you prefer.  Once on the dry background, I lightly sprayed it with a water mister and allowed the colours to run a bit and then dried it well with a heat tool.  Next I used Enchanted Gold and Golden Light Gilding wax over the top to catch the raised texture from the dry tissue paper.  This adds the look of a gilded marble to the piece and adds s much interest too.  I cut it to size and matted it and added my pierced mat layers to it.  Next I cut the Angel out of white card and sprayed her with adhesive and coated her with Diamond Snow. I then cut a second one in gold card and offset it behind her before I added mounting foam to the back and attached her to the background.  I cut the Joy die in the set twice, once out of white and once out of gold card.  I sprayed and glittered the white one and offset them and glued them in the lower corner.  I did the same to the large star in the upper corner to complete the card.  Please leave a comment to be included in the drawing for this week's giveaway card.  I will announce the winner on Saturday's blog post.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8" in size.

Before I go, I would just like to let you know that John Lockwood will be doing the One Day Special starting tonight at 8pm on Hochanda.  He will have shows all day on Thursday as well at 9, 12,  4 and 7pm too, so loads of demos to look forward to during the day.   All for now, Sue x

What a Joy of a card for the giveaway, Sue, love that background but never have enough colours of anything to do justice to giving it a try, maybe just metallics would work? Not usually an angel person, but this really works. Loverly!
Molly - good wishes to your nan and grandad, hope he's a little better soon - or lots.
Tracy, job well done! Have some R&R before treatment proper begins.
Poorly friends, take care and better days.

Beautiful card Sue, i have never tried this tecnique before, i'm a coward, lol although i have seen it done before, and i don't have an angel which i will have to rectify soon.
Well i thought i had finished my cards but my Sister is making a trip over from Ireland at the beginning of December and wants her rather large order of cards, Christmas and Bereavement, now i thought i had escaped that one this year as i had no plans to visit her, but i got my eye wiped didn't I, she is coming here instead, so i had better get busy, thank goodness for Sue's dies, that's all i can say.
I have promised to go and show a lady i met last week in my local little Craft Shop how to do the Guilding Flakes method, but how i am going to fit it in now is anyone's guess.
I was over the moon when i went into my local little craft shop as she has announced she is starting to sell Creative Expressions goodies and Sue's dies, she didn't have many dies left as once it was announced everyone went mad buying them, so i have ordered the Noble die collection which i have wanted for ages and my Birthday is up soon and Christmas and my Wedding Anniversary all rolled into one, more or less, 53 years, my goodness, but loads to spend on Sue's dies.
I was sad to read Francis is still in Hospital, i hope you are home soon, Melody and Molly Iam thinking of you and all your family, Tracy I am glad the harvesting went well, you take care also, hugs to all who need them, Johanna

Molly, Melody and Francis, I'm sending big hugs to all of you. Molly, you are such a wonderful granddaughter.
Tracy, Laine, Linda, Wheely Bad, Maria (and anyone else I missed) thank you so much for your kind words. Dinner was wonderful and we had many laughs in honor of Sandy. She was all about the party and actually planned her own funeral with singing and believe it or not, a comedian. Her pastor said that this was a first for him lol. To know Sandy was to love her. Hello Sue
I just love your "Angel flying high in the clouds!". She is so pretty!
I watched you playing with this very unusual technique on Hochanda and was very interested as I have lots of odd size pieces of tissue paper in my stash. I think it is so effective. I am sure so many of your followers would love to have this special card on display this Christmas!

Hi Sue, your angel is beautiful and the background intriguing, I am sure no-one would guess how it was made. I think the gilding wax just finishes it off perfectly.

Agnes (Scotland) - Hochanda is on Freeview channel 39 and shows on the TV guide as 'The Store'.

Melody & Molly - my thoughts are with you and Francis.
Laine - I hope your 'minor ops' went well.
Tracy - hope you are still enjoying some PJ days.

Frances

Absolutely stunning card. I've been anxiously awaiting your take on the new angel. The angel is so stunning it only needs a background...it steals the show, in fact it's the show stopper. I did a pale Pearl blue/gold/white background and diamond dusted the Angel. I sure hope to win yours! Take care.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

You always serve up a real treat for your Wednesday card giveaway Sue, and today is no exception. The tissue paper technique is simply ingenious and something that I haven't been brave enough to try myself even though I have started to save any tissue paper I receive just in case the mood takes me. The effects are stunning, and the added touch of the colour cloud inks and gilding wax give it an extra dimension, it's so textural and lush. The angel is beautiful, I haven't invested in her as yet but this card has given me another reason...as if I need any further encouragement:-)....to get my credit card out of protective custody...my Mum doesn't trust me at this time of year!
The lucky recipient will display this card with pride long after the holidays have ended that's for sure, good luck girls.....great to see our little Molly commenting today too, good luck to you too sweetheartxxx
Had a rubbish nights sleep, very fitful- I was feeling quite nervous, for some reason, about my surgical procedures today. I've no idea why because I've had a few years of this type of treatment under my belt, maybe I'm just weary that there is no end in sight but I do know that I should be grateful that I have never needed chemo or radiotherapy. I resisted the urge to cancel at the last minute and common sense prevailed....it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that my mum threatened to use brute force if need be, honest!:-) My surgeon planned to remove five large suspicious lesions but decided not to torture me too much and removed four instead- the worst part is the anesthetic, after that it's a doddle....until the numbness wears off later on that is! Thanks to all the kind well wishes from Tracy, Jan, Maria, Lynda, Frances and Lorraine F, I really appreciate itxxxxx Oh, and an added bonus was that my mum kindly washed and dried the dishes tonight...who says I'm milking it? Wonder if I'll get away with it tomorrow too:-)....
I have a day of pampering in store for tomorrow, a caci facial and a wash and blow- dry afterwards so I can't complain- my body may look like a patchwork quilt but hopefully I'll have the cheekbones of Angelina Jolie and bouncy hairdo instead of jowls and a crows nest:-)
Tracy, I hope you re able to find the time to pamper yourself too, you deserve it honey after what you've been through lately....a few cheeky glasses of red before bedtime would be just the tonic, not that I am suggesting you become reliant on alcohol of course, it's purely medicinal you understand:-) Congrats on harvesting ten eggs, what an achievement and positive step for the future.xx
Lorraine F, I do hope your news isn't negative and that everything is okayxxx
Rebecca, I'm so jealous, I just love snow! Unfortunately it's still mild and wet here but I live in hope that we will get some cold frosty/snowy weather in time for Christmas. I bet the mountains are beautiful coated in snow, do you get much during the winter months?
Jan, Sandy sounds like my kind of gal and I'm sure she would approve of your celebration, glad you enjoyed it- I'm very partial to a dessert or three too, Nevermind the first two courses!:-)
Healing hugs to melody, Francis, Wheely Bad, Linda and anyone under the weather at the moment, hope things pick up soonxxx

Crafty hugs to all
