Sunday 29 November 2015

Thank You

Good Sunday morning all!  Yes it's a channel card, you know how much I love doing them! LOL   I used the Vancouver decorative die to cut into the top portion of a piece of coconut white card.  I used the outer die from the Lattice and Lace Striplet to cut the channel in the bottom of the card.  I added mounting foam to the backs of the two pieces to raise them, creating the channel.  I matted them with Sky blue card behind, showing through the die cut.  I cut the Lattice and Lace Striplet in white and recessed it into the matching channel on the lower portion of the card.  I stamped my sentiment then used the inner section from the Montreal die to create a frame to put over it.  I mounted it in the centre of the Vancouver die cut.  The card was then completed by adding a white pierced mat, a thin blue mat and another white mat.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.

Now for the winners of the weekly comment game.  This week's winners are:

Yvonne May!!!
Sunshine Pen!!!
Sparrow!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize!  All for now, Sue x

Lovely card. Sue, always like the channel effect and such a pretty sky blue. Haven't seen any blue skies for ages in wet wet Wales! We are very muddy.
Lorraine F, well it seems you each had your family at a young age so your GD has just lowered the bar a wee bit, and of course your Mum gets to be a GGGM - how exciting is that?! More people to love him as he grows up. I'm the youngest child of a youngest child so consequently only had one grandparent, and she died when I was 12. Lovely memories of a lovely lady but it would have been nice to have known all four.
Well done to the comment winners.
Melody, Francis, Tracy - sending good wishes as ever.

Love the card for both the design and the colour combination. As much as you love doing channel cards, at the moment I particularly love the use of using a single large die to cut the design out of a large piece of card as you have done on the top of the card. I think it looks very elegant.

Good Morning, Sue,
Although there's nothing 'good' about it. Gale force winds and a grey sky but, hey...it's stopped raining for five minutes lol. I keep wishing we had snow but living on top of a hill, that would look nice from inside but would be a nightmare if I needed to go out, so I guess I'll put up with the gale instead.
What a lovely card today, Sue. My printer doesn't always show the colours as they should be and today the card has a lovely blue hue over it :). I haven't tried a channel card as yet but know how much you love making them. It's on my list of techniques to try though.
I hope everyone has been having a great weekend. Hugs to all.

Good morning Sue
Firstly apologies for not commenting yesterday, I loved the video and the beautiful card you made. I was especially grateful to see just how you had achieved the frame, will be trying that.
Today's offering is gorgeous, I like the format you have used, most of my cards are square and it's nice to see a different shape from time to time. Love your channel cards.
I am thrilled to say my die arrived yesterday, thank you so very much, it is my all time favourite die now especially as it came from you. Thank you to your helper as well for getting it off to me so promptly.

Congratulations to all today's lucky ladies.

Lorraine F, I can understand it has been a shock but just think of all the love and happiness that baby will bring to your family, your Grandaughter has a difficult time ahead but with all your love and support she will get there.

Lorraine E, huge congratulations, I am thrilled for you, I did a little happy dance when I saw your name, don't think I would have got a ten from Len for it though!

Love and hugs for all

Sue, another winner of a card. I am thinking I will have a go, making some adaptations as I don't have the dies. But it will have to wait until all the Christmas gifts are completed. It will be a new style of card for me :)
Congratulations to today's winners, enjoy your prizes.
Yvonne, I really hope you are feeling much better today. Huggles.
Tracy, I hope the cancer does not rob you of the chance of becoming a Mum. I had a hard time conceiving my second child and that was hard enough, but not a patch on what you are going through. I wish you so much joy.
I hope you are able to craft soon, it's a very good distraction.
Rebecca, enjoy your new dies, I am sure you deserve them :)
Pam, thank you. I don't think I am a very good Nan but I will try harder and perhaps I will be a better great Nan.
P in Wales, yes it's going to be funny my Mum being a GGGM. Hard to believe she is 82 but so sprightly and she runs rings around me. Her memory is a bit dodgy but that's all.
Tracey, that cold is really out staying it's welcome. You'd think it would be blown away by the wind.
My eldest son has come to stay for a couple of weeks, he lives in Blackpool so we only see him a couple of times a year. It's so lovely to have him here.
I have a very unpleasant appointment tomorrow, my lovely Mum is coming with me but she could be waiting around for an hour. Hoping I will be ok after and we can do some shopping after lunch as I have loads of Christmas shopping to do.
Today I need to get myself in gear again but finding it hard to get moving.
Wishing good things to all xxx

Oh Sue...I've just returned from vacation and spent this morning looking at all the beauty you've created in this past week. Your artistry is amazing and I love each and every card you make. Thank you so much!!!

We returned last night from our week in Orlando Florida with our daughter, son-in-law, two grandsons and one granddaughter. This old grandma had so much fun spending time with the children, going on roller coasters and other rides and just enjoying seeing the world of amusement through the eyes of the children. I am so blessed! We even got to spend Thanksgiving with one of my brothers and his beautiful wife. We hadn't seen them in a couple of years so it was awesome. Back to reality today but I'm lucky that my daughter and her family only live 15 minutes away so I get to spend lots of time with them. I missed all of you. I did try to read the blog while I was gone but the children wouldn't let me lol. I did a little catching up this morning.

Congratulations to all of this past week's winners, especially Yvonne, Lorraine, Saba and Laine!!!

Lorraine F., I hope you're feeling better and congratulations...your baby Great Grandson will bring much joy to all.
Theresa, I hope you're on the mend after your operation.
June, I'm so glad your eye surgery went well.
Yvonne, hoping you feel better real soon.
Linda N. I hope you're feeling better also. I agree, having and endoscopy and a colonoscopy together is not pleasant. Unfortunately, I know first hand.
Bejay, feel better.
Rebecca, hope you get to relax a bit real soon.
Tracy, you're always in my thoughts. Hang in there,
Melody, I hope Francis is doing ok and please let Molly know the I hope her internet is up soon.
Laine, I hope your infection is healing and I was so very excited to see that you are the winner of one of Sue's masterpieces.
I know I'm missing some of you but sending huge hugs to all of the Wilsonettes.

I hope everyone is having a beautiful day!

Beautiful card, I do love your channel cards, I don't have any of these particular dies but I'm sure I could find a substitute.
I had really sad news about a friends daughter, she fought cancer for 3 years and died last week ( only 48yrs) she lives in Florida, and I lay awake last night wondering about a card for her , I did not want to send anything too funeral and I couldn't just send a Christmas card ( as I had been about to do, before I got the news) so I decided on last years Angel ( which I love , but hadn't used this year) so I've made the card in white/Aqua combo , white Angel with the heart, and so I hope it is comforting to her .

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

It has been a weird old day weather wise in Stirling today, started off with a few hours of torrential downpours before it turned to snow, that stopped and then the sunshine made a rare appearance before we had more sleet and rain, my heads in a spin and I'm only grateful that I didn't have to venture out today! Your gorgeous blue and white channel card really brightened the proceedings though, I'm so appreciative of the fact that you continue to use dies from previous collections, it serves as a timely reminder not to let them gather dust but to incorporate them with the newer collections too. I nearly bought the Lace striplet from Hochanda a little while back but it had sold out, I should really have searched elsewhere but there's always another die that grabs your attention. Still this could be substituted and a similar result achieved I suppose, but I always feel that your cards are perfect as they are and that would be like tampering with a grand masterpiece such as The Sunflowers, just sacrilege!
I'm feeling real withdrawal symptoms because I haven't bought a die in a few weeks...okay, I got the Platinum and a few bits and bobs that I call essentials, but that doesn't count, so I am becoming desperate- I don't think I'll last till January, all it will take is a juicy deal on Hochanda to seduce me into parting with my Christmas cash and someone will have to miss out this year....is it selfish to respond to a real physical need?:-) I've been trying to busy myself with the toys that I already have and it's working up to a point but Phill is on as we speak and my credit card is itching to be used!
I had a play with some texture paste again today, it's now drying nicely out of Brodies distructive paws way- we almost had an accident when he jumped up onto my craft desk for a nosey but my ninja speed reflexes averted tragedy:-). I'm really enjoying using this medium, I can't believe I put it off for fear of the mess, it's so satisfying. I'm trying Sues silver card from Friday because I thought it was a real showstopper, I don't think I'll be able to part with it though...in fact, I'm feeling that way about most of my cards, my Mum even asked my Uncle to send his cards back rather than throwing them out, but being a tight Yorkshireman(sorry Saba!) he would baulk at the postage costs:-)
Didn't complete anything though, was distracted by the Davis Cup action- I love tennis, and the Murrays are local lads so we go a bit mental in this area. I enjoyed it immensely, what an achievement!
Anne C, so sorry to hear of your loss, it's always that much harder when it's someone so young but your card sounds perfect under the circumstances
Tracy, it's little wonder your mojo has gone walkabout, you have so much to contend with at the moment. Last year when I was in hospital for two months we had Freeview and internet access and I literally spent thousands from my hospital bed even though I couldn't use any of it, it was a tonic for me and a motivation to fight back to health so you keep buying if it makes you happy honey...don't know if your hubby will agree though:-)
Yvonne, big girly hugs to you sweetie, thanks for your well wishes over my win...I think they were meant sincerely though you never can tell with you dear can we?:-) Shall we disband BCAS now that we have procured our treasures without underhand tactics...in saying that, you did bribe Sue with fudge, a genius and well timed move in retrospect. Hope you feel better soon though, your a fighter and you know what they say, you can't keep a good dog down:-)xxx
Jan, lovely to have you back, glad you let your inner child loose, it's good for the soul- personally I hate heights so I prefer the Waltzers, do you have them in the States?
Saba, you do yourself an injustice, it would be a ten from me-Len was in a bad mood last night and Patrick Swayze wouldn't even have got a ten!
Quick hugs to all my buddiesxxxxx

Such a delicately beautiful card, I just love the new striplet dies. A must for the Christmas list.
We ended up having Thanksgiving company this weekend, not Thursday, as is tradition. All 5 grandkids and their parents came, and we fried a turkey in our "oiless" turkey fryer, so it was delicious AND healthy. Also only took 2 hrs to cook that way, for a 20lb bird. I highly recommend this device if you've been thinking about one. I wouldn't have a traditional fryer, I heard on a news report just today that 5 people are killed in fires every year started by them, and millions in property damage. Just in our area someone burned down there deck trying to deep fry a turkey.
Greg, our SIL, is now half way through his chemo, and he felt fairly good this weekend. He should know in another week if it has worked, so prayers for healing always welcome and appreciated.
Hope ya'll have a happy holiday season! Congrats to the winners!

Hi Sue. This is a beautiful card. I love it when you do your channel cards as it always shows how to use your new dies to do this technique. This blue is a lovely colour. Congratulations to all the comment winners.
