Christmas Double Days

Hello crafters!  I have  channel card and a buckle card for you today, two of my favourite styles of cards!  First up is the navy blue and white channel card.  I started by cutting a piece of coconut white card into two sections, one larger than the other (about 3/4 and 1/4 in size).  I embossed both pieces with the Frosty Swirls embossing folder for texture and added mounting foam to raise them to create the recessed channel.  Next I cut the Classic Adorned Rectangle inside decorative die in white card, using the inner oval to cut it into a frame.  I backed it with Navy blue card and added foam to the back, attaching it to the top of my card.  I cut a mini Snowflake striplet in white and backed it in blue and glued it into place in the recessed channel I creating in the card.  I cut the thin borders from the Lavish Swirls diagonal and attached them to each side of the recess with a strip of white pearls along each edge.  I cut the snowflake tag and added it across my focal element die and then added two slightly larger snowflakes to the ends.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with a small oval die, using the die to trace around to create a faux mat in Navy blue to go behind it.  I completed the card with a pierced white mat, then added a thin navy blue mat and a final white mat to frame it.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Today's second card is a buckle card created using the Deboss Snowflake die and the matching stamps (designed by John Lockwood).  I stamped three of the Shooting Stars Medallion and embossed them in gold.  I used the matching die to cut all three out and used the inner die to cut them into frames.  I cut a long strip of milk card and wove it through the die cuts, turning the outer dies horizontally while keeping the centre die vertical.  I added tape to the back to secure them then added mounting foam.  I embossed a larger piece of milk card with the Let It Snow folder for texture.  I cut the Scandinavian Border in gold card and cut it down the centre, adding a half to the top and bottom edge of the card.  I ran a length of cream pearl strips along each edge as well.  I added my buckle feature in the centre of the card and used the inside of the stamped frame as my sentiment adding it the the centre with foam.  I completed the card with a milk pierced mat, a thin gold mat and a final milk mat in my usual manner.  The finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  9" in size.   All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue and the Wilsonettes,
I love the darkness of the blue that you have used under the white as it reminds me off the sky at Blackpool when the Illuminations are on. I have never seen such a dark sky is there is down there but it gives a tremendous backdrop to the lights. I used the frosty swirls embossing folder yesterday as it is probably my favourite go to folder at this time of the year and you get such a wonderful emboss from it. The stark white against the dark navy is a lovely combination together.
The cream and gold buckle card is stunning as well in a soft elegent sort of a way. It doesn't hit you in the same way that the white and navy but it is so subtle in it's beauty. Haven't yet tried a buckle card but i will as this looks like an "easy" one to start on. Thank you Sue for fridays double whammy, take care
Happy 13th Birthday Molly sweetheart, sorry that your beloved grandad can't be there but he will want to know all about your day and night when you see him. Enjoy your special day wee lass.

Your cards are beautiful. I love the stark contrast of navy and white or cream. I don't own any of your embossing folders, but I think I need to invest in some of them. Hi Sue

2 beauties... the first, well I love any blues and as my striplets came today... yay! Have the snowflake swirl folder... I love it- I turn the flakes into flowers at other times of the year! The second is different to a lot of Christmas cards and I guess you could do it in many colours. Might try it letterpressing the snowflakes on the die and adding a bit of gilding wax instead of the stamp. I have loved the last 2 days' cards too. Thank you for some amazing ideas- feeling very inspired and hope to rattle out a few Christmas cards over the weekend (fingers crossed!).

Hugs for you & Mom from Billy & I x

I'm sure you don't mind me doing this...

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Molly,
Happy Birthday to you!!! :-D

Happy 13th birthday Molly, hope you have a great time tonight with your friends, Billy sends woofs, wags and lots of doggy cuddles and kisses and I'm sending hugs and best wishes to you. Have a wonderful day xxxx

Tracy, sorry you feel so drained and sick, bet your new hair looks amazing. Sending gentle hugs and hope you feel better tomorrow xxx

Laine, sorry you're feeling so bad too, Disappointed you've had to start from scratch with the antibiotics. Gentle hugs for you too and hope the meds do the trick xxx

Lorraine F, welcome to the world of battery powered mobility! You'll really enjoy it, it'll give you a lot more freedom. With regard to struggling in hard chairs I take cushions and pillows everywhere, there's one on whatever chair I'm using. Favourite is an old, quite thin feather pillow. I even put on the car seat when I travel, it goes everywhere with me. Hugs and happy travelling x

Melody, just say to Francis "I've invited your brother to visit" and leave it at that. It deflects the visit away from his illness. A visit from family may be the thing to kick start him feeling stronger. I sincerely hope so. Sending hugs to you both.

Beth, hope your ok, hugs x

MIA again, massive migraine that started Wednesday afternoon and finally left me early this morning. I don't like taking the strong pain meds when the migraines are bad, happy that today all I have is a very tingly head so I've had some and hoping I don't feel too dozy to play with my new striplets, snowflake and poinsettia, after ordering some last minute supplies.

Lynda, Theresa, Yvonne, Jan in L.I, Rebecca in CO, loved your comments this week, thank you and hugs xxx

Sending hugs and best wishes to all the Wilsonettes, sending extra special hugs to those who need them. Hoping those unable to comment return soon.

T x

Hi Sue,

Two stunning Festive cards, think I prefer the second one for a change, quite vintage looking by the colours.

Good evening Sue and all. Two pretty cards again, navy & white, my favourite, but I think the overall composition of the 2nd card is preferable to me. But, saying that, I'm not so keen on the stamp-sorry.
Best wishes to all and a very happy birthday to Molly- ENJOY!

Both cards are exquisite and I would be proud to use either design but I have to pick the first. Blue and white snow cards are one of my favourite cards. The colours are stunning and I find it really makes a statement. I love the contrast of white and blue. I often use blue mirror card and white diamond embossed snow flakes.

Hope you have had a nice birthday Molly.

Both cards are wonderful. I pinned. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/415386765610696899/ https://www.pinterest.com/pin/415386765610696870/ Everyone says, "Merry Christmas" here in the states. Kind of wish we all said the same thing - (either happy or merry - doesn't matter to me ) would make card making a lot easier, lol.
