Happy Tuesday morning all! This card is being posted as a request by blog reader Pauline. This isn't actually the card that I started out to make, and, in fact, it almost ended up in the bin twice! I had this idea to use the Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia die pieces to randomly cut out shapes all across the white card, which is what I did. The picture makes it look a bit like it has red poinsettias mounted on to the white card, I know, but the white card is actually the negative piece. I mounted it up using foam pieces over a piece of red card. On the red card pieces, I matched up the dies that I used and embossed the shape of the poinsettia into it so that you could see them through the top piece. So far so good, but I decided to stamp a pine sprig into the background and emboss it with aurora sparkle embossing powder. I wasn't sure if I liked it as it didn't show up very well, almost binned it here, but decided to go on. I went to stamp the joy sentiment in black and just then my Mom's cat jumped onto the table and knocked the ink pad out of my hand and it landed on the corner of white card! I thought, that's it, into the bin. Then I had an idea to use the white poinsettias that I had cut out of the background piece earlier to cover up the black ink on the corner of the card. I ended up having to cut out a few more, but I saved it after two close calls! I added some white pearl PVA glue dots around the edge and matted with a final piece of white cardstock to complete it. See, there is really no such thing as a mistake, just a slight change of plans! Hope you like it. All for now, Sue x

Lovely card.
Lovely card xx
Your christmas card is so wonderful. Good idea to punch out the flowers and make a flower for itself on the same card. Great!
Hugs, Uta
Well Sue, that certainly was a happy accident. It looks gorgeous and I think I may have a go at this one too. TFS. Hugs Rita xxx

Sandra
Cats - don't you just love them? Nice effect. Love, Julia xxx
Hello Sue
Strange how things fall into place!
I have a Cuttlebug so it will not be so easy for me to copy this one...I will have to adjust a little, maybe.
Love Marg
Beautiful card. There's usually a way of salvaging these mishaps - I should know - I have plenty of them!! Cxx
Hi Sue,
I was inspired by this card to do something similar and I'm very happy with the results. Some of my best cards are ones where I have had to get creative in order to save a card rather than bin it.
Love and Light.

Another lovely card. The red showing through is fantastic. You have some wonderful ideas Sue. Please keep the inspiration coming. Karen x
Well I think, that more often than not, my cards ends up to be something else, than I had first thought, and I don´t think, that´s nessecarily a bad thing. It just proofs, that our creative mind is working during the whole proces of making it, and as you say, thre´s nothing like mistakes, just change of plans ha ha ha, and your card looks awesome. I love how it looks here, so it´s just great.
Great card! Good idea!
Mmmm I am going to look at all my dies to see which ones I can try!!
Yeh I love it when the cats get busy - they always help the creative process - nice colours!
That is stunning, i love cards like this where you start out with an idea, end up with something else, even if it is to cover up a mistake. because these type of cards work out better for me then the original idea i have in my head. This is stunning.
Hi Sue
Lovely card again-will give it a try!

Really funny Sue "happy accidents" turn into lovely cards Hugs x
I like those sort of 'happy accidents', we would never have known if you hadn't let on.
Another stunner and I love the 'white' poinsettas.
Hugs

My cards often end up totally different to what I'd planned and I'd be more than happy to produce a card like this. Although simple on appearance this would really stand out on the mantlepiece at Christmas. Super card.xxx
What a great mistake. Thank you for showing everyone that you don't need to throw the card away.
Sue
Talk about the "happy mistake"!!!!
It just shows that you can retrieve errors and produce something as stunning as this.

Great use of negative space. Very pretty.
I wish my mistakes would turn out like this one!
Just love the poinsettia dies. Have been playing with mine and hope to make a card tonight x
Wished my mis haps were as good as yours !! Great card
Wow, for something that almost hit the bin twice, this is gorgeous. I just love how you cut out the flowers and then added the white ones to the corner. TFS.
What a great happy accident - well done to the cat! Regards, Anne Rx
lol sue im glad this doesn't just happen to me and i think the cat deserves a treat as this is such a fab end result i love it xx
Great save, twice! Maybe you should give the cat an extra treat.

gr8 piece of work :)
I like it! See, without reading the description I I thought you'd planned to use the 'waste' :)
Lovely! Would never have guessed it was an 'accident' x Carole
Its a really clever salvaged card, and I like that you admit thats how it came about! The way you have used the negative shapes is so effective
lovely card, jsut goes to show there are no mistakes just happy accidents. Glad you did not bin the card but continued on.
Cats...Dogs...they just love to bump, jump, eat, our works of art, lol. My pups are constantly trying to mess me up when I'm trying to work. But, we always figure a way to cover our little mistakes and make them into something even better. Mimi ;)
Hi Sue, Having read through the trials and tribulations of this card I really am surprised it made it too. And, as I have quite a number of those 'templates' after cutting out quite a number of poinsettias, I now know what I can do with them - you see, I couldn't bear to throw them away. You're not the only one who has perfected the art of covering up mistakes, however. If you care to look at my Jovial Poinsettia card you'll see how I used a 'template' to cover up a boob - here's the link:

And before I forget to say it, love this card.

If people only knew what is under some of the embellishments on cards.......... just happy accidents.
Lovely card
This is just what I love as a crafter, playing and just seeing what evolves. Think you should be proud as your perseverance proved to be a different style, with style!
