Picot Edged Circles

Hi there friends, I hope everyone is enjoying the backlog of cards I have been able to post lately!  This one is no exception, as it is from the August POTW shows.  It does use those lovely Picot edged circles for the focal element.  If you were lucky enough to get those, well done, as I think you will find many uses for them.  Hopefully, this card will give you an idea for their use as I cut two of both the largest and the next size down and mounted them up together, but offset the picot edge on them.  It gives a really frilly look to them I think.  I inked all of the circles with Antique Linen Distress ink prior to mounting so that it softened the card colour (a very stark ivory to begin with) and matched the background paper better.  Now this is not what I would call a messy bow this time as it is more of a fancy look with a very tight centre.  A little tip, though, this frilly edged ribbon is so easy to use and tie this type of bow with.  If you at all "bow challenged," give this ribbon a try as it is very forgiving and easy to manipulate.  I couldn't resist the decorative stick pins (I know, I know, it's a compulsion for me).  I finished the card with some of our new swirly rhinestone pieces.  FYI, I do believe they are making their television debut on October 18th, if you are interested.  Once again, super simple card, nothing too time consuming or tricky, just start with some decorative card you like and matching ribbon and you are half way there.  Hope you like it!  All for now, Sue x

I haven't adopted hat pins as embellishments yet -- they look pretty but I keep imagining fingers (mine or the recipients!) getting pricked. How do you protect fingers from getting stuck??

Oooh these dies are really high uup on my wishlist too, and now I know why ha ha ha This card looks awesome, it´s really great Sue, I love it.
As for the lady above, who asked how to avoid people got their fingers stucked on the pins, I can tell you all, what I do, cause I tryed to stick a finger real bad on one, so I got my card totally ruined of blood LOL, and since then, I began thinking, how I could avoid it, and one day b a bit of an accident, I found a great solution, that has worked well for me since. I had been using my gluegun, and some glue had run down the table and made a pearl, that had gone hstiff, but it was still soft enoug to stick in it, and I thought it might be useful, and it is. Now I just make a drop and roll it with my fingers and put it on the end of the needle, after I set in on the card, and it hardens totally , so it wount fall of again, and it dryes up totally clear, so it´s almost not seen, but never anymore stucked fingers here. Hope this tip can be usefull for others as well.
HAve a great week-end everyone and lots of fun.

Great card. BEautiful background paper and ribbon. Stick pins and swirls are nice too. The way you did the offset gives a bit of an optical illusion that they are entwined.

Beautiful card Sue, reminds me of old fashioned ladies corsets - they used to be creamy pink!! Great idea to offset the circles to give a different look. Will watch out for the show, a lovely treat on my Birthday.
Forgot to add that the ribbon reminded me of nylon stockings along with the corset!! lol xxxsue
