Christmas Double Day

Hello bloggers!  It is that time again!  The Friday Christmas double days!  I know it is still July, but I have so many Christmas card samples to share with you this year, that I need to get started so I can get them all in.  I have decided to start with a double bill of the 2017  Christmas Angel die.  I really love the way she came out and I'm quite proud to show her off!  This first sample is quite lavish and totally over the top, but I liked it too.  I started by covering a piece of card with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing off and covered the page with Summer Meadow Gilding Flakes.  I used the Twinkle Star Background to cut the stars out of it and backed it with a piece of black gloss card.  I did put a few of the stars back into place behind the sentiment to help make it a bit more readable though.  I used the Double Pierced Noble Squares to make a thin black frame that I added with foam.  I cut the Merry & Bright out of black gloss card and glued it into the upper corner.  I cut the angel out of gold mirror card and added her to the left side of the card.  Poinsettias were cut in three different sizes out of gold mirror card and arranged on opposite corners with Berry boughs cut from black card.  White, gold mirror card and black mats were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  7 1/4" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is actually my personal favourite angel card.  I started by cutting the Garland Edger on both sides of the card.  I cut two more out of black card and used them as shadows behind the white ones before adding a piece of vintage gold card behind them both.  For the focal element, I cut a multi layer frame using the dies from both the Noelle Frame and the Holy Lattice Frame.  I cut the Twinkle Star Background out of white card and added a black backing to it, then seated the frame over it and trimmed away the excess around the edges.  I added that to the centre of the card and cut the Merry & Bright to go in the middle of it.  I cut the Christmas Angel out of Vintage Gold card and added her with foam to the side of the frame. Two poinsettias were added to the opposite corner made from the Poinsettia Additions die set.   White, black and vintage Gold card mats and layers were added to complete the card.  Finished dimensions are 6 3/4" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Happy Friday Sue and all,and a beautiful pair of cards to boot, love ithem, both gorgeous.
HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY Andrew, let's hope you are feeling better so that you can celebrate your special day
Elaine, I bet your family laughed at you but it happens to us all, although I haven't done it with a birthday yet. Fingers crossed I don't get my daughters Sikver Wedding on 29th Aug and her birthday on 30th mixed up. Im making her cards whilst on my 2 weeks leave, also a Coral Anniversary card fir my friends Gary and Diane.
June your breakfast sounded yummy, what a good hubby you have.
Carmen, hope you have a wonderful vacation, relax and enjoy. Crewe Trish , you have a great time too, it will do you good.
Stephanie, always so lovely to read how people love seeing a Sue card in the flesh.
Myra thanks for letting me know about Norah, wish she would slow down and not get too stressed, it really isn't good for her.
Donita you do make me laugh, you gave such a way with words.
Maureen and George, hope you are feeling better, Bejsy too, bug hugs.
Daily hugs to all, thinking of all our poorly and missing friends.

Dear Sue and All You Wild Wilsonettes,

These are both so grand!!! Makes me happy I got the starry background. Still maintaining my anti-poinsettia stance, but I did relent with the checkerboard poinsettia striplet. Gotta say I like the outlined ones better than the larger plain ones with that fold up the middle. You're going to win me over yet, aren't you?

Theresa Pace, whenever I see your picture, I think it's me.

Apparently the state was holding some unclaimed money for me. I think I had a credit card company on automatic payment long after it was paid off. So I claimed it and the check arrived yesterday. Guess what I'll be spending it on? I should get a bumper sticker that says: My other car is a box of dies from the U.K.

Happy Friday, jolly crafters. And if you're feeling poorly instead of jolly, well, here's some hugs and blessings.

Love,
Donita

Good Morning sue and all. WOW two stunning christmas cards this morning . Its never to early as I love looking at your christmas cards. I love the gilding flakes you used on the first card. The fall out stars would well be worth keeping with them covered in the flakes. The Angel looks stunning cut out of gold mirror card. I have been cutting the twinkle star back ground at the moment and saved all the fall out stars.
The second card is also stunning. I love how you have you have the frame dies and twinkle star in the back ground. Once again the Angel is stunning. Thank you for sharing your cards this morning.

Hi Sue,

What a lovely surprise to open your blog and find the Christmas Double Days have started!...I've really fallen for this year's Angel, I think it must be all that texturing on her gown...difficult to choose a favourite though but although I would normally go for the clean and simple look of card 2 for some reason I'm drawn to the OTT version of the first card...it must be the gilding flakes background!

Elaine - I told you that would happen didn't I!...lol...btw, I asked my sister how she was getting on with her new Gemini and she gives it the thumbs-up - and a very Happy Birthday to Andrew, hope he's feeling sparky enough today to enjoy his day.

Donita - Just bite the bullet and go for the Poinsettia Additions set first - that gives you three sizes of flower, each with it's own open outline die and of course the solid flower shapes aren't just for Christmas - they can be used all-year round too, so a good investment, especially if you're using money you didn't even know you had!...go for it.

Izzy

The first design could be done in a different colour combo to make it less OTT, but like the idea. The 2nd one is my favourite. I must get on - only made one card so far!! Thanks Sue x

Donita - an unexpected windfall, how lovely and what else would you buy with it if not Sue's dies? I love the idea of your bumper sticker!
Elaine - Happy Birthday today for Andrew and for Helen tomorrow. Hope the BBQ goes well and that you get to enjoy your family meal very soon.
