Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello bloggers!  I have a wisteria, white and black card for the giveaway today!  This one was a demo on Hochanda awhile back but I really liked the way it turned out so I hope you will too!  I started by creating multi-layered frames using the Scalloped Lattice Frames and the Stitched Lattice Frames.  I layered up white, black, wisteria and white to create the outer frames and added mounting foam to the back to raise them.  Next I cut the Pacific Ocean Background out of wisteria and backed it with black.  I cut the centre out, then cut down the frame in size to fit the frames that I made.  I cut the scalloped background from the Scalloped Lattice frames in white and nipped it in half and added a section to the sides under the background.  I embossed a piece of wisteria card with the Dot Matrix Pinpoint embossing folder to add texture and glued it behind.  I stamped my sentiment, then created a small frame for it with the Pacific Ocean Tag Duo and seated it in the middle of the card.  I used the Striped Nasturtiums to add a floral element around the card and inked the edges with Chic Viola Colour Cloud ink.  I embellished the flowers with leaves cut from the Family Tree die.  White, wisteria and black mats were added to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  8 1/2" in size.

If you will indulge me for a moment, today would have been my Dad's 97th birthday, but we lost him five years ago now.  Each year I like to honour his memory by reprinting something that he forwarded to me once in an email as I really found it to be rather profound in it's simplicity.  My Dad did not write this, but I know that he saw the honesty in its wisdom and that is why he shared it with me at the time.  I hope you will be able to take something away from it as well.  Here it is:

LESSONS OF LIFE .Written By Regina Brett (who was 90 years old when she wrote it)

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good. 2. When in doubt, just take the next small step. 3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. 4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch. 5. Pay off your credit cards every month. 6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree. 7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone. 8. It's OK to get angry 9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck. 10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile. 11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present. 12. It's OK to let your children see you cry. 13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about. 14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it. 15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks. 16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind. 17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful. 18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger. 19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else. 20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer. 21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special. 22. Over prepare, then go with the flow. 23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple. 24. The most important sex organ is the brain. 25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you. 26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?' 27. Always choose life. 28. Forgive everyone everything. 29. What other people think of you is none of your business. 30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time. 31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change. 32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does. 33. Believe in miracles.3 4. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do. 35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now. 36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young. 37. Your children get only one childhood. 38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved. 39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere. 40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back. 41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need. 42. The best is yet to come.. 43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. 44. Yield. 45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift." Remember that I will always share my spoon with you !Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves I think that we all need to take a few moments every day and be grateful and appreciative of what we have.

 All for now, Sue x

Oh Sue, that message from your Dad is beautiful and I read it through tears. My thoughts are with you today - it will be 2 years next month since I lost my beloved Mum and I think of her every day, so I empathise.
My mum's favourite colour was always lilac, so today's beautiful card would have been perfect for her. Perhaps I will try to replicate it as a tribute on her anniversary and keep it for my wall. Thank you so much

Morning Sue. I don't remember seeing this sample at all before so it's lovely to see it now, that will give me the perfect reason to look back at all the recorded shows I have stored since you moved to HOCHANDA 😊 it's another giveaway that I couldn't giveaway it's too beautiful Sue !
Reading the email dad sent to you is lovely. I wonder if Regina looked back into her past to write these words, things she would change in her life if she could re-live her 90 years all over. Some I see, some are who you are now, little things that make you the person you are today, some are easy to to do to make a good change in our lives, some not so easy depending on how life has treated you in the past, they are such beautiful words of thought and inspiration and words I shall re-read throughout the day. My thoughts are with you Sue, thank you for sharing a small part of your life. We love you xxx

Morning Sue,
My dad woukd have been 100 years old last Saturday, but unfortunately we lost him thirty years ago just before he was 70 and my mum followed ten months later at 68. They had been together since she was 14 and dad17. I feel that they missed out on a lot of things, but we have no choice in what happens to us. Your dads life lessons are very thought provoking and wonderful at the same time. I send you a hug today and love.
Today's giveaway card is beautiful. Lots of different elements to it. I look at it and think I could never do that, but after reading your dad's words I am going to try. The colours are lovely. Thank you for the opportunity to win it.

Love and hugs to everyone xxxx

Hi Sue. What a lovely card! I didn't use black card much in the past, but am using it with metallic guilding wax thanks to you and your creations! I lost my mom 7yrs ago and you never really lose them because they are in our hearts everyday with all those wonderful moments they created, and my mom was very special in so many ways, like your dad was and is to you. God bless and have a great day of remembering! ☺🙋🌞 Deborah.H.

Hi Sue.
Special thoughts today, and what a lovely card.
All the words are so true. Since my beloved Dave died 20 months ago, far too young, I have kept a happiness diary, just to remind myself of the good things which happen every day. It helps as I so often feel low.

Thinking of you today Sue, the words in your Fathers email are as true today as when you first posted it. I saved it and go back to read it now and again. I am coming up to my first birthday since losing Mum last year and then 5 days later would have been their Wedding Anniversary. I take comfort in knowing they are together but the tears and sadness are always underneath the surface.
A beautiful card today. Thank you x

I love this card. Lots of detail but it doesn't come across as too fussy.

I bought the Matrix Pinpoint Embossing Folder yesterday, and I can't wait to try it out when I have some time this weekend. I also recently bought the Pacific Ocean Duo Tag and have been "playing" with this on several Mother's Day cards that I've made.

All I need are more hours in the day and then I'd be able to fit more time in for card making!

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What a beautiful card that really packs a creative punch. There are so many elements to this gem yet they all blend together in perfect harmony. It will be one very fortunate Wilsonettes who wins this beauty. Thanks for the inspiration and your generosity Suexxx
I have been thinking of you all day today Sue after reading the touching, thought provoking email that your dear Dad sent you.....it must still be so hard for you on occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries, thoughts of our dear departed loved ones are never far away but how comforting it must be for you to read his messages and remember the good times and what you valued in him...he sounded like an astute man with a good sense of humour, you must be so proud of him and perhaps find some comfort in the thought that he is always close by, especially when you need him most. It has been 12 months since my own Dads passing and not a day goes by when don't think about him and miss him dreadfully, so it is with a lot of love and empathy that i send you the biggest and warmest hugs that i can muster because today must have been a challenge for you. Thankyou for sharing with us an intimate message from your Dad, it has certainly made me think about life in a different way and made me thankful for all that i havexxx
Pam, thinking of you too today honey, feelings must still be raw for you but i hope that you found some comfort in fond memories of your time with Tim....and the excerpt posted by Sue today. Take care and hugsxxx
Pam, P and Myra, you seem to see me in the role of Nurse but is it more Nurse Ratchid than Florence Nightingale? I think i know the answer to that one but I'll just double check....i see myself as caring, empathic, kind, thoughtful and conscientious, all the attributes needed for a good nurse surely, however, some patients need a bit of a push in the right direction otherwise they malinger....Yvonne springs to mind:-)
Frances, your babies sound divine, i too have a fondness for tabbys, all my cats have had tiger striped markings, i only wish we could post pictures of our furbabes on the blog because i am so curious to see them all....sometimes i think that i am slightly odd and eccentric, I'm more interested in animals than i am babies or children!:-)
Tina, how lovely to have you back commenting, you have been missed but i am relieved that you are okay...or as well as can be expected under the circumstances....my thoughts are always with you especially as you face the first birthdays and anniversaries without your beloved Mickxxx
Ive tried to keep it brief today....well, i did say TRIED!......out of respect for Sue because the main focus should be the thought provoking words in her extract, its a time for reflection and counting our blessings i feel.
Hugs to all my besties, i hope that you are all wellxxx

Hello Sue,
Another beautiful card today, I love everything about it.
It must have been an especially difficult day for you today. Thank you for sharing your wonderful tribute to your dad. He must have been a kind and thoughtful father to give you such such a gift. There is wisdom, honesty and goodness and a little humour contained within those words and they offer the best advice any father could give to his daughter and I hope his message to you has brought you some comfort today.

Pam, Nana Tina, Laine and each and every one of you, myself included, who are feeling the loss of a loved one just now I hope you can also take comfort in today's message from Sue's lovely dad.
Love and hugs for all

I can tell how much you loved your dad and what a proud man he appeared to be. It will have been a sad day for you today. I know how I feel when it comes round to my dad's birthday and the anniversary of his passing. He was a month away from being 80 and I miss him every single day

I have read these profound words he sent you sometime ago and they are certainly true. You will have made both your parents proud by what you do and what you continue to achieve
