You're Wonderful

Hello there my crafty friends!  I have a cheerful card for a Monday morning.  I started by using a piece of my Classic Elegance Paper Pad for my background.  I cut a smaller strip and matted it with white card and added mounting foam to raise it for a small border on the lower portion of the card.  I cut the Bruges die in white for my focal element in the upper portion of the card.  I cut the inside die from the Antwerp die and layered it up on top of the Bruges die cut.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the small oval from the Antwerp and inked it lightly before adding it to the centre of the card.  I cut a white butterfly from the Magical Butterflies set and added it to the upper corner.  I decorated the lower border with a poppy cut from white card then using a thin marker, I added the lines onto the petals before sugaring it with Iced Snow.  I seated it on some lilac silk ribbon (from my stash) and adding some white heart sprays around it as accents.  The card was completed with white and wisteria mats and
layers.  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Good morning Sue and everyone. Beautiful card, I'm so pleased I bought the poppies as they go with everything. Busy day today as we're finally having the carpet fitted and the suite delivered for our lounge, it's the last step after more than 2 years of building work! Hugs to all. Sue xxx

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, I am loving today's card Sue, I have your papers and to be quite honest I have not used them yet because I think I am like many crafters who like them too much and want to keep them for that special card.....................yes we all do it.............anyway with this card you have inspired me to get them out again and make something with them, but I really like the poppy that you have used a little marker to draw the veins down the petals, it looks stunning, love it, got to try that.

Pam I thank you so much for your congratulations. I like going onto lots of peoples blogs, I get ideas, and inspiration from them and like our one Sue it is like a family of friends. Well recently there was a blog hop for Sue Davies of Crafters Companion and her design team for when she launched her new Contemporary Christmas collection. I like hundreds of others entered the hop and eagerly looked to see if I was a winner from the design team but alas I was not successful, however Sara was giving the whole collection (it is massive) away to the overall winner and this would be announced on Hochanda on the Saturday launch programme. I turned in because I really like the collection, lovely silvers, whites and blues, and after a drum roll they announced that I was the overall winner and would get the whole collection. I was totally gobsmacked and did not mention this yesterday morning in case there was another June Smith, but no I had confirmation from Sara that it was me. Sorry this sounded a bit long winded, but I wanted to share my joy with you all.

I had a quick shuftie (slang for reading) through yesterdays comments to catch up on how everyone is, I see that Elaine and Andrew you had your grandson with you I bet that was a laugh, Lorraine you sounded quite poorly I hope you are feeling a little better this morning, Myra count me in with the holiday club (even if I sat and demonstrated all day how lovely that would be), Tina and Mick hope you are all ok, Tracey, Wheelybad and everyone.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Thanks for this cheerful card today on this rainy and foggy day here. I need something to brighten my day for the sun will not shine here today! You have given me an idea on this card that I was needing over the weekend when making a card. Your idea of the split background strip that you matted would have been just the technique I needed. I had stamped a background with a stamp that was not big enough for my layer. When I re-stamped the image to enlarge the pattern on my layer, I missed matching the design up; and it left a horizontal line between the two stamped images. If I had used the mismatched image, the line would have been obvious on the front of my card. And covering the line with ribbon and/or flowers, etc would not have worked in this case. But your technique of the matted strip would have been a wonderful way to make my error work for me on my card front. I always learn something from you for which I am grateful. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
