Faux Buckle Card

Hi crafters!  I love buckle cards and today's card is a sort of faux buckle card, it gives the same effect, but isn't exactly woven like a buckle card.  The video will walk you through how easy it is to
create.

The finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, looking forward to seeing the video on this one soon, hubby is just making a cup of tea for me and will then do my breakfast and I can watch it whilst eating, will give me some get up and go........I hope.

Well I have been up since 4am this morning so spent some time looking at yesterdays blog comments, what a lovely group we all are here, so supportive of each other, it is lovely to see what has gone on with your day and to see all the comments, commiserations, advice, or just being there for everyone, I am so pleased I am part of this community, love it Sue.

Hubby has not had any pain since he saw the dentist on Monday, still waiting for specialist appointment (which was marked urgent...watch this space) so I thank you to everyone who commented about him.

Elaine, it says something when the council have a waiting list for the recording equipment doesn't it, they obviously have big problems in that area. Have you contacted your MP yet about it. hugs for Andrew too.

Steph I know what Pam means about making her cry yesterday reading your words, you are an inspiration to us all, hope the treatment is going well.

Tracey, as always we are all here for you, and so many of us unfortunately have been (or about to be) in the same boat wish I could give you a hefty hug in person but I can't so take a big one here.

Wheelybad and Kitty, my thoughts are with you

As always sending lots of hugs to those that want one.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Oh Sue, this is gorgeous. I feel I've really missed out by losing my love of card making. I know it's really hard for some of us to financially keep up with your collections but we buy what we can and most of us stay loyal to your products, also like many other ladies here, health and circumstances get in the way of our passion. But I've just let the past two collections (3 counting your festive launch) slip way past without a case and that's not like me at all. I get so angry and disappointed with myself when my body and mind takes control no matter how hard I fight it ! Consequently I'm now suffering due to this mind set and when I see such beautiful and uplifting samples like today's it sinks in how many dies I really would love to add to my collection. I've got to kick myself our of this rut, get myself healthy somehow, and get cracking again. I made my team of 3 health care professionals thank you cards between my drugged slumber and discomfort last week and they were pants, I could see no effort, no pleasure or thought had gone into them but still chose to give them - and now I'm embarrassed in case another card maker sees them on show and thinks " why did that person bother" come on girls, own up, who hasn't thought that when they've seen a particularly awful card ? And I don't believe any of you if you've not thought that at some point - your not human, and I'm TOO truthful maybe.
Anyway, enough said. I shall really look forward to watching your tutorial later Sue, and hopefully be able to use what I have to make something similar when out of this health rut. Sending big hugs to you dear friend. Every word meant Pam xx

Hello Sue and all
Love this faux buckle card, I too don't have the Swiss collection but like Steph am looking through what I have to try to use the fabulous layout idea. The fabulous thing about your dies is that they can be interchanged specially when you show us how to cut and reassemble them.
Steph, I hope that you do make it back to making some cards again, it can be so hard to get started sometimes but from personal experience, once started it can be so healing.

Wonderful card this morning! Always love the milk/blush card combination.

To Stephanie. I'm sorry I don't know your circumstances but you're being very hard on yourself. The fact that you made cards for your care team even though you're obviously feeling very low and are unwell makes them even more special whatever they look like. You know the saying 'it's the thought that counts', you could have not made any but you did and that's a start. It doesn't matter what any other crafter thinks about them as they're not in your shoes with your health problems. I can sympathize with you as I have a chronic health problem and have felt just like you. Have you talked to your doctor about how you feel as they may be able to help with your mood. Please take care and I'm sending you a big hug. Debra x

Hi Sue,

Such a pretty card and very feminine in the blush and milk colour scheme you've used here but would be equally effective in bolder, more contrasting colours too...

Stephanie - why not trawl back through Sue's blog until you find a card you do have the dies for and just do a straight copy to get the mojo kick-started...and having made one I'm sure it would inspire you to do one or two variations on the theme and before you know it you'll be back in the crafting groove - it works for me anyway...

Hello Sue
What an amazing card will watch the video later after my granddaughters leave. I always look into Sue's blog at least twice a day, first thing to read Pam's comment then later to add my own comment. Today though I read Steph's comment and I felt like crying, you are so hard on yourself. I was making a birthday card yesterday for a friend with lots of help from my 5year old she loves gluing and sticking so my card is slightly off centre when I said "oh dear" Katie said "never mind granny your friend will know you tried your best so will love it". It's true never mind what others think if I am given a handmade card I don't care how it looks and I worked in a primary school for years so have received lots. I know that that person took the time and effort that's all that matters.

Lovely card. Like the buckle effect a lot, so simple to do but so effective.

Stephanie, I have to add to the comments above about your being hard on yourself with respect to the cards you made for your health care professionals. They, more than most, will know and understand how difficult making the cards will have been for you. They will have recognised that it involved a lot of effort, so will appreciate all them all the more, despite the flaws you think are there. Most certainly, it is the thought that counts and you did think about them which is what is important.

I have been keeping up with your cards on FB Sue but just haven't had time to visit the blog, so haven't been able to catch up on everyone's news. As everyone is telling you Steph you are being too hard on yourself. I think you are a real trooper making thank you cards while feeling so ill. Your carers would have been so pleased to receive them as they aren't always appreciated, so please don't be so hard on yourself. You made the effort, it would have been so easy to have sent bought cards, so well done!

Must find time to go back & read the comments for the last few weeks!

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

I don't possess the necessary eloquence required to do this stunning design the justice it deserves....instead, I will just dribble in appreciation:-) The candy colours are positively scrumptious it is just so sad that we will be deprived of the stunning blush shade soon:-(
I am excited to say that I am the proud parent to the Swiss collection and just bought the dot matrix EF this morning on the strength of this beautiful card....I plan to blatantly, nay unashamedly , copy your gorgeous design for a very special card that I have to make this coming week or so, it's for a good friends 50th birthday, so she will need a pretty distraction on the day to take her mind off the fact that her boobs have gone south overnight:-)
I will watch this delightful demo as soon as I have the time to give it my undivided attention, today has been rather hectic with a lengthy shopping trip into Stirling on the agenda.....it always tires me out and I'm fit for nothing but watching the soaps and anything that doesn't require more than one brain cell:-) Spent far too much money, it's my nephews 5 th birthday on Sunday so I wandered around Toys r us like a cowboy without his horse, totally clueless. Boys like cars don't they? So I settled on a few Transformers that were half price....spent £20 instead of £45 so a real bargain:-) Pity I couldn't be as frugal in M&S when faced with the dessert isle:-)
I really will have to tighten my belt if I have any aspirations at spending big at Ally Pally next month:-( ah, needs must.....
Steph, we as crafters are notoriously hard on ourselves, nothing is ever good enough....unless it's created by the magnificent Sue of course....and we assume that our recipients are equally critical. This is nonsense though, most people are over the moon with anything that has been handmade with time and energy put in...one of my most memorable cards was made by my brother who had downloaded pictures of all of my cats over the years and pasted them onto a card with various embellishments, it was done by someone who didn't "do" arty stuff but it was also done with care and love which I am sure you invested in the cards for your carers. With your health problems proving a barrier at the moment, the mere fact that you managed to make anything atall is testament to your generosity and pluck so try not to disparage your efforts I'm sure they were appreciated.
Hugs to Tracy, another plucky lady who should be admiredxxx
Elaine, glad Andrew is enjoying his fishing break away, maybe you should consider a holiday away from the stress at home with your neighbour so that you are strong enough to help Andrew with his upcoming treatment, lack of sleep can be so debilitating.
June, it's good to hear that hubby isn't suffering whilst he waits for his treatment, but what on earth had you up at 4am you poor soul?
Cuddles to my bestie Yvonne, hope you're okay? The blog is a quieter, if more civilised, place without you:-)
Hugs to all my blog buddies including Beth, Rebecca, Jan, Maria, Theresa, pat, Pam, P, Frances, Wheely bad, Alison , Linda, Lorraine and anyone in need of a cuddle who is ill or caring for some onexx

Nanna Tina, hope you and Mick are ok.
Take care everyone.
