Christmas Double Days

Hello bloggers!  The first post of the year for the Christmas double days is upon us!  I decided to start with a simple but elegant Madonna and child card.  I cut the Ray of Light Background out of aqua card and backed it with aqua card as well for a tone on tone look.  Next I used the Double Pierced Circles and cut an aperture out of coconut white card.  I added mounting foam to the back and added it over the background.  I cut The Nativity in white card and then cut the backing out of white card that had a sticky adhesive sheet placed on it.  I peeled the backing paper off and added the Nativity die cut to it, then glittered the exposed adhesive with Diamond Snow.  I added it to the centre of the card with foam.  I added a slightly larger Double Pierced Square frame in white to the edge of the card, then finished it with  white mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is completely different and more vintage styled.  I started with a piece of cream and black polka dotted paper from my stash.  I added it to a larger piece of milk card, leaving wide edges on both sides.  Next I cut the Snowflake Border (from last year's Festive Collection) in black and glued them to the sides.  I stamped the Cosy Cottage Scene stamp in black on milk card and cut it out with the matching Snowflake Filigree die.  I inked the edge pattern with Antique Linen, then coloured the cottage, snow and trees in the centre.  I cut an oval of sticky adhesive sheet and added it to just the centre design area.  I peeled the backing off and glittered it with Diamond Snow.  I cut a Snowflake Filigree in black and cut it in half and added it to either side of the stamped image.  I adhered it to the centre of the decorative paper.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with an oval die.  I used a slightly larger oval and cut a black mat for it and added it to the lower portion of the card.  I completed the card with a milk pierced mat, a black mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  9" in size.  Have a favourite?  All for now, Sue x

Gorgeous cards Sue. Both so very lovely in different ways. Love the twosome.
Steph, you are too critical about your work, you sell at the market and those canny shoppers love your cards, do they must be good. Your Carers know the effort you put in to everything you do, that makes them doubly precious.
Elaine, it is so good that Andrew is enjoying his week away. How are you doing, till you get sorted, try some earplugs at night,. You need your sleep.
Tina, thinking about you and Mick, hope all is well.
Tracey, bet that night with the girls was a riot after the wine.
June, so glad hubby is doing well, Tina, hope you and yours is too, the waiting for results is torture.
Hugs to all, present and missing.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, oh I do like double days and these two samples are so very different but both absolutely fantastic in their own right. I am so pleased I bought the 'rays' die and also the cottage snow scene stamp because I can try them both out.

Well it has been quite an eventful week, and with the Olympics starting I know who is going to be glued to the TV, I can then play away with my crafting stash, I have so many things I want to do just need to get my head in gear and start on them.

My thoughts and hugs as always go to everyone, especially:

Steph - don't put yourself down, you are a fantastic crafter and make beautiful keepsakes.

Elaine are you getting any sleep?, I don't know what to advise you might want to take up Pam's suggestion of the earplugs. Pleased Andrew is enjoying his holiday.

Tina and Mick, I do hope things are OK for you

Tracey, hope you enjoyed your girly night out and all the wine.

Tina, hope you get the results you wanted soon.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

I particularly love what you have done with the Ray of Light background and Nativity dies in your first card, showing that you don't have to use the whole image. Forgot to comment yesterday, what a numpty.
Love both of today's very different cards.
I am now the proud owner of both sets of Sue's double pierced squares as I ordered the first set yesterday afternoon and they arrived this morning, great price too :) As I tend to make square cards it made sense to invest and I watched John showing how well the rectangles layered up on an old recording so decided it was time to bite the bullet.
I can feel the Christmas crafting urge starting to build so need to move some craft supplies around.
My Grandson is going to come over and make some Christmas cards, date to be arranged. He is a lovely boy but very full on so I thought it would give my daughter a break and it's about time I acted like a Grandmother. I am taking him to the cinema next week too.
I am still very, very tired so torn whether to visit my daughter, do housework or craft as I don't have the energy to do more than one of the options.
Sorry not to comment on everyone's news will try and remember notebook tomorrow.
Sending love n hugs to you all xxx

YAY!!! It's Christmas Double Days time again. I love hav ing Christmas in August! What a nice start, Sue. Both cards are delightful in different ways. I like the simplicity of the first card, it's really quite striking. The second card is divine...I especially love the stamp of the snowy cottage, doesn't the smoke coming from the chimney look inviting.
It's another weird weather week isn't it. Down here in my part of the country it seems to be pouring rain one day and brilliant sunshine the next but even the very wet days have been humid. What we need is a raging thunderstorm to totally clear the air, I can put up with the heat but have never been very good with humidity (I remember being in Chicago one August and it was like walking into a solid wall of wet heat when we left the hotel...not nice!).
Happy Friday to everyone and here's to a great weekend :)

Good afternoon lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Words can't express just how excited I am to see the beginning of the twofer Friday, Christmas in August? And why not!
The only real problem being that it is just so difficult picking a favourite, particularly when the designs are just so different.
Card no. 1 is striking yet clean and simple at the same time. The Ray of light background die is very eye catching in the lovely blue cardstock and really enhances the Nativity die in the foreground....love the touch of bling too! The noble collection can really add that finishing touch of professionalism to a card, the circles are going to be so useful over the festive period and the frames add the perfect finishing touch.
Card no.2 involves something altogether more traditional. You excel at stamping and I always love he results. What a welcome appearance for the snowflake border, one of my favourite dies from last year, it works so well with the focal element. Love the addition of some bling to the stamped image. I can't choose a favourite from such differing designs, love them both in their own right.
Had a dodgy night, woke this morning having had a seizure so I really shouldn't be on the Web but I simply can't resist my daily blog fix:-) I was meant to go out for my Caci facial this afternoon but didn't feel recovered enough....decided to have a restful afternoon watching crap daytime tv instead, the only danger being that I could well end up in a boredom induced coma:-)
I heard from Yvonne earlier, she sends her apologies but she has had some bad news, a friend of hers mother and sister have both been diagnosed with breast cancer and the news has hit her hard. She will be back with gusto soon but needs time to digest this awful development. Sending her massive hugs, hopefully I'll speak to her properly tomorrow.
Elaine, so glad you've had a few nights peace and quiet, but what a great idea to invest in some earplugs, that might be the answer to your prayers. What a shame that Andrews health has dipped, hope he picks up again in time to get some fishing done.
Lorraine, the mind is always willing but the body just won't co operate...I know just how frustrating this can be but all you can do is prioritise what is most important to you. Hope you have a nice time whatever you decide and don't suffer afterwards.
Maria, sounds like you had a riot, it would be lovely to meet you all at Ally Pally...what day do you plan to go on?
Tracy, my cards are suspect as it is without having consumed litres of vino beforehand:-) glad you had a great time though, crafting can be great therapy when done with friends....pity I don't have any then:-)
Sending hugs to Wheely bad, Beth Theresa , Frances, P, Pam, pat, Tina, Linda, Rebecca, Jan, Alison and all my blog buddiesxxx

Crafty hugs,

Hi Sue. WOW !!! Not one, but two fantastic Christmas cards today !!! I do really like both of them. The Nativity card is great, with your lovely new Nativity die and the Ray of light background die. I love the colours of this one and the frame is fab !!! It just makes the card so classy and elegant.
The second card with the snowflake border dies is definately my favourite of these two cards. I think the this border is one of my favourites of all your Christmas dies Sue. I really love it. The snowflake frame is really pretty and I love how you have coloured the cottage scene stamp. The whole card is just the sort of card that I like to make. Lovely colours to. Thank you for sharing these wonderful Christmas cards today. Sending lots of love to you Sue from Tres x x x
