Christmas Double Days

Hi bloggers!  We are getting closer and closer now to Christmas so I hope you have finished up on your festive cards, but if not, here is a bit more inspiration for you.  The first card was started by embossing a piece of silver card with the Frosty Swirls folder, then cutting it into three panels.  I mounted them on a piece of white card and this served as my background.  I cut the Ornate pierced Design Noble in white and backed it with silver, cutting it into a frame.  I used the Snowflake mask and pulled Silver Moon Sparkle texture paste through it and allowed it to dry overnight.  Once dry, I sprayed it with permanent adhesive and glittered it with Diamond Sprinkles.  I mounted my frame over it.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Pierced Flags set, using a slightly larger die to create a mat in silver.  I mounted it through the centre of my frame and created several poinsettias out of vellum to cover the end of the flag die and add some accents on the opposite side of the frame.  I used the Elegant Poinsettia stamp on the vellum and then cut them out with the matching Classic Poinsettia die.  I seated them on white tulle and added Star Sprays in white around them as accents.  I complete the card with white and silver mats which I pieced and layered.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

I started the second card by cutting a pierce of sky blue card with the Ornate Pierced  Noble Rectangle die then  embossing it with the Illusion embossing folder for texture.  I backed it with gold card and added pearls in each of the corners.  Next I cut the Ornate Pierced Noble Design in white as a backdrop fro the Debossed Snowflake which I cut in gold.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the pierced flag dies and matted it with blue card.  I tied a double bow from silky crush gold ribbon and added it at the side of the sentiment.  I topped it with Snowflakes cut from both gold and blue card and added some gold threads below it.  I completed the card with a white pierced mat, then added both gold and blue mats and then added  another white mat.   The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x  7 1/.2" in size.  Two very different cards, but I hope you see something you like!   All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue,

Two beautiful cards today, number one is my favourite though. I just love the poinsettias they look so pretty.

Thank you so much everyone for the well wishes it really means a lot. The endoscopy went ok I'm glad it's over. The bleeding has stopped but there is inflammation, they have taken a biopsy so will have to wait for the results.
Lorraine F - I didn't know you had fibromyalgia as well, it's such a horrible illness isn't it? I do hope you're feeling better today and you enjoyed your Mum's visit.
Lorraine E - I have had a colonoscopy as well but not at the same time as a endoscopy, that must have been awful. I'm so glad you finally received your music system, what a palarva hey?(not sure if that's spelt right haha) at least Brodie is happy with the box lol!! I will try my best to get some crafting in today it is hard to get motivated when you feel so down but you do put a smile on my face with your little stories so thank you for that. I hope your infection is clearing up quickly.

Thanks again for the well wishes it has given me the boost I needed.

Big hugs all round

Strikingly different cards today, I have a clear favorite, the first one. How you have done the aperture background is beautiful, not to mention the mounted die cut. I have not had much success with the spray glues, think it may be the nozzle, but it doesn't spray instead it comes out in stringy bands. May have bought the wrong product though it was recommended for paper-craft Thanks

Beautiful cards Sue, I am not going to choose a favourite as they are too lovely.
Bejay, I hope you are feeling better today and that you can get back to crafting.
Laine, yes it was lovely to see my Mum. I still couldn't talk much but I can feel it improving slowly. I am glad your Mum's pressie arrived eventually and fab that you can benefit from it too.
Maria, another fibromate, sorry it's not a fun group to be in.
June, glad things went well, I hope you can see properly very soon.
Jackie, wow well done to you and whoever else you work with. I am full of admiration but so sad that your efforts are required.
Linda N, happy crafting today. I am going to have a go but feel like a rabbit in the headlights. I don't know what I should do first.
WelshPaula, sorry to hear your health is letting you down. I hope you are better soon.
Melody, Francis, Molly and Tracy, thinking of you.
Thank you Sue my die arrived yesterday.
Well the news I got a few weeks ago went public yesterday. My 16year old granddaughter is pregnant. Babies are lovely but a stable relationship and a few more years would have been so much better.
Due date is May 5th so we still have some time to get our heads round it.
Must go and get myself organ, hugs all round.

I'm still feeling rough although I think maybe I am now crawling up the hill rather than languishing in the valley of sickness. I've totally lost my voice since yesterday and my dog is delighted as I can't call her in from the garden lol.
Happy Friday to everyone and have a great weekend :)

Well, I ALWAYS see something I like when looking at your creations. My usual tendency is to use gold, but, yesterday, I pulled out some mirrored silver cardstock and went to work creating a Christmas card. I love the silver. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. LOL I have been trying to think outside the box and do something out of the norm for me. I'm not finished with my Christmas cards and tags yet, but I'm getting there. Any great tag ideas for us???? hint hint

Morning Sue,

Well, I don't know where my earlier post went, Somewhere over the Rainbow into the wide Blu Yonder I expect.

Start again then, 2 gorgeous cards cannot pick my favourite.

Do hope you get your voice back soon, Bejay. Nothing worse than having silly remarks on the silence.

Lorraine F. It's always lovely to hear of new arrivals in the family and the babe will be loved so much when he/she arrives. But I do agree with you, a few more years, a good relationship and the ability to support the babe very paramount.
To the young girls in my area, having a baby as young as you can to get the benefits/free housing is a career choice compared to actually working for yourself. I really do despair when they say the money comes from the Government NOT us taxpayers. Reality and self respect checks needed!!!

Warm thoughts of love and gurt big hugs to all in discomfort, pain or loss.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

Gosh, I just love two for one Friday specials. I will really miss them after the festive season is behind us:-(
Today's treats are up to and perhaps exceeding...if that's even possible!...your usual high standards Sue- I am definitely most in awe of no.1, it has everything I adore about your cards, a real classic example of sheer elegance and intricate detailing and I have earmarked it as my favourite choice for my Mums special card this year. It incorporates my current favoured technique with the texture paste and I have all the required elements so no excuses. No.2 in terms of design and composition is another winner though the blue and gold colour combination doesn't grab me- I feel sooo guilty saying that because I never don't love your choices, but I just feel that on this occasion I would have chosen something different....oh dear, I hope I'm not lynched!
I almost completed three cards today...sounds more impressive than it is cos I had done a little prep yesterday.....a couple were snow scenes using the lovely trees and deer and the other was similar to your recent channel card using the snowflake border and St Lucia dies...I say similar because I didn't watch the video demo beforehand and got a bit mixed up with the die cut combinations, achieving a slightly different result which works but boy did I feel a berk:-) I abandoned my efforts to watch Andy in the Davis Cup, I love my sports...just wish that I was fit enough, or talented enough, to still do some myself!
Watching the soaps now in my bed with Darcey holding her paws as she snoozes-the little minx has a cheek, she had me up at 6am for a feed, I then attempted to go back to bed and she followed five mins later to ask for a different one only to refuse it and go outside for a walk instead!
Linda, thanks but I can't imagine why anybody would find my boring ramblings even mildly entertaining! The Bose has gone down a treat but I really should have kept it till Christmas, now I'm going to have to buy a surprise as well- I can never keep a present secret though!
Hope you were able to craft today, I don't know about you but it can be a great form of distraction from ailments, mental and physical.
Maria, you have given me the perfect present for Brodies Christmas, a pack of four smoothies!...maybe he'll stop pilfering mine then:-) I am hiding my last one so well that I couldn't remember where I had put it, it took me half an hour to find it today!
Theresa, you poor soul, hope your cold clears up soon , there's nothing worse than being bunged upxxx
Lorraine F, congrats on your recent news great granny! Sixteen is very young, I agree, but as long as she's got a good support network I'm sure she'll cope. It must have come as a big shock to you all, your granddaughter will have to mature very quickly, I wish you all the best in the coming months as the reality sinks in and after the happy arrival:-)
June, glad to hear your recovering after your op, you must be so excited at the prospect of seeing properly againxxxx
Melody & Molly, I hope you both are ok and Francis is still managing his excercisesxxx
Yvonne, I hope you are ok too honey and not too exhausted- maybe your absence is due to wild parties and orgies and not fatigue, if so, you go girl!xxx
Huge hugs to all my blog buddies, old and new, hope that you are having a lovely eveningxxx

Crafty hugs,

Hello Sue,
Both cards today are stunning but if I had to choose it would be no.1 simply because of the colours. Love the composition of no.2 just not sure about the blue and gold. Still got loads of Christmas cards to make and am starting to go into panic mode. It must be really difficult for you, I expect everyone you know wants one of your beauties to grace their homes, how on earth do you cope.

Love and hugs for all

I absolutely love the first one, just love silver on christmas cards and love the design and the debossed
snowflake die is gorgeous.
I do love the design on the second one but not too keen on the gold and blue, but it is still pretty.

Beautiful cards Sue. The first one would be my choice but who wouldn't want either of them. December is fast approaching as our thermometer dips below zero each night. We have just a little snow..."it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..." Have a great weekend Sue and family.

Two lovely cards. I've got a soft spot for poinsettias so I especially like the first card. Oh if only my festive cards were done and dusted. They haven't even got into the starting blocks yet. Lots of December birthdays to sort first. All the inspiration you can give, please!!
Take care everyone.

Love the grey and white card - how nice to have a monochrome card with silver as the effect is soft and pretty.

Thanks

I love the both cards. The silver and white are traditional holiday colors, but the light blue and gold are not. The blue/gold card is unique and I just like be it.

My, my, these are amazing. The first one has to be my favorite however, love the colors together in it.
Lorraine-I know it will be difficult at times. The same thing happened to my little sister years ago, and she was expecting twins! Sixteen was very young, and back then, not so easily accepted as today. The twins are now grown, both with children of their own, and what a glorious blessing they've always been. My mom did most of their raising, along with 3 older aunts helping out. They became all our babies, and we're so proud of who they've become. The first time my mom was on hospice care and refused to eat, this granddaughter (the twins were boy and girl), flew here across the country, and stayed almost every minute by her side, spoon feeding her one small bite at a time, for days. Well, she pulled through, and lived another 4 years. She showed her such love and devotion, not many young women with 2 small children of her own to care for, would have done this. I believe God blesses when life is chosen.
