Not Older, Just Better

Good Sunday morning all!  I have a white and white card for you today!  I had a bit of leftover from another card I made so I decided to use it here and that is the Mother of Pearl Caught in Crystal background.  In case you missed the technique, it is just a clear acetate sheet, the drizzled with Cosmic Lacquer and dusted with Pearlescent mica powder.  Move it around the acetate with your finger so it covers the entire background, then place a scrunched up piece of white tissue paper over it and set it aside to dry.  Once dry, cut it to size and use it showing the acetate side to the front.  I cut a Portuguese Background in white and placed the acetate behind it to show through the cut out areas.  I hand cut a thin border to go around it using the die itself to cut around.  I raised the border for dimension.  I made several flowers from the Perfect Peonies and glittered them with Diamond Sprinkles.  I added some Mosaic Leaves as accents.  I cut a Majestic Monarch and added pearls to the body and attached it in the opposite corner.  I stamped my sentiment in black on another piece of white card and added the entire background above it.  The card was finished with a simple white pierced mat and a final white mat.  The finished dimensions are 8" x  8" in size.

Now for the weekly comment game winners.  They are:

Heather Wilmer!!!
Hilary Bunker!!!
Leonore Burden!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Hello Sue

This is a beautiful card Sue. The butterfly is stunning. John did the Portuguese dies justice last night for you with a stunner they are so versatile and well thought out design wise.

The presenter was saying he hoped to meet you soon as he hadn't actually met you and that you are so talented with your dies etc, which was nice.

Congratulations on reaching and exceeding your 5500!!!!! Well done!

Congratulations too to the winners of the comment game. Enjoy your goodies!

Tracey S: I have just caught up on your news. I am sorry to hear that was not quite as good as you might have hoped (and all of us following you had hoped for you). One little thing for you that I hope may raise a smile: I don't know if my lymph glands were removed as I wasn't told but certainly my arm pit was radiated. The result? I only have to use a deodorant on one armpit therefore my deodorant costs have halved and this has saved me a lot of money over the last TWENTY FOUR years. May you have many years of the same!

Lovely card a very versatile. Elegance should be your middle name. It is thanksgiving weekend here in Canada and the leaves are absolutely beautiful. Cool crisp mornings and evenings and warm days. The air is so clean and fresh I have the windows open. For the leaves on my Thanksgiving cards I used several colours of your gilding flakes and the Tim Holtz leaf punch. I had three pumpkins which I coloured in four tones of orange, yellow and red with green stems. Hardwood trees stamped in coffee brown. with bits of leaves on the limbs and the ground covered in the gilded leaves. The leaves made the card! My card stock was chocolate brown, rust and moss green. I used piercing on the second layer of the card. Thanks Sue, I couldn't have done it without you! Happy Thanksgiving!

Good evening Sue and the Wilsonettes,
Oh this is a beautiful card Sue all in the white although it looks like a soft winter white to me on my screen which i just love, so much more gentler than the bright white. Have had a busy day today trying to put my raspberry GC back together again as those pesky allen key nuts keep coming undone. I promised my friend that she could have my purple GC until i found out that it was broken and not wanting to let her down when i found this new raspberry one without a handle or plates in Hobbycraft i jumped at it as it was such a good price for £30, it was brand new and i had a spare set of plates that i could give her along with it, i just will need to take cover and run when i give it to her as she knows that i had just bought it but she thought it was to replace the broken one but hey bringing a wee bit happiness to someone when you can is worth it every time as i can see the smile that will be on her face from here, all i need to do is look out some of my doubles that i have in dies and some embossing folders to get her started. Campbell has tightened up all the nuts and bolts before i give her it so that she should have no trouble with it.
Finished my grandson's aran cardi and helmet for him today, made a sheet of roses and so i think i will go and do my knitting as i haven't stopped all day between that lot and washings in, out and back and folded so i'm having a break. Sending hugs to all my Wilsonette Angels that could do with them, you are in my thoughts and prayers that your improve slowly but surely back to health
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
P.S congratulations to this weeks winners, enjoy

Hello Sue
Your card for today is really gorgeous and I love the Portuguese background. White on white always looks stunning and I love it!
We have had a lovely day here in West Sussex but it looks as though the temperatures are starting to fall this week.
For Several reasons I have been neglecting my cardmaking recently, however, today I decided I just had to design a Birthday card for a "cardmaking friend" who I could not possibly send a bought card to. Guess what, I really enjoyed it and can't wait now to start again and begin my Christmas cards with the lovely SW dies I have bought this year.
Tomorrow I am on a workshop with the lovely John Next Door which I am thoroughly looking forward to!!!
Well, it is now time to relax for the evening and watch my favourite programmes!

Good evening lovely Sue and the fab Wilsonettes!

What an appropriate card for today in light of the one day wonder on Hochanda-it showcases the dies perfectly and I love the crisp, fresh colour palette, all very inspiring. I wish that I had bought the Majestic Monarch though, it is the most gorgeously intricate butterfly that I think I have seen and well worth the investment.
As predicted, I couldn't resist splashing out a little on today's shows...just don't tell my Mum, my joint bank account partner!....I joined the Freedom Club, after much deliberation, because the frequency of Creative Expressions appearances makes it worth my while. Just wish they would offer the easy pay on their website instead of having the hassle of phoning. I had my order ready only to discover some of the items were unavailable, I then had to scramble about on my I pad trying to find alternative codes and got a bit flustered thus forgetting to order some items:-( Nevermind though, I did get the Noble bundle and the Configuration bundle which is what I really wanted so all is good with the world:-) We all have a budget, and I'm nearing mine, and I can't decide whether to invest in more Christmas dies or start getting the latest release before the next one is launched.....if only I had the presence of forethought to have bagged myself a sugar daddy in my younger days I may have been able to afford to fund my 'all things Sue Wilson' fetish, I'm afraid that I should have utilised my assets more when I had the chance, a winning smile, bingo wings and a predilection for cats, cheesecake and Strictly come Dancing is less appealing in a 40 something than in a 20 something hottie:-(. Any ideas on how to raise the funds without getting arrested in the process?
Norah, what a heart warming gesture to buy your friend a GC AND gift her some dies and EF's as well. Like you, I frequently buy multiples of the same item, I have made crude attempts at cataloging my vast array of dies but I'm afraid it's getting out of hand now as my addiction grows and my craft space shrinks in tandem. I often give a fellow crafter and friend my double buys cos I know that they are going to a loving home. Are you going to the Craft Show in Glasgow later in the month? I've never been before, is it worth the trip or do the big brands not head up North?
Tressa, you made me giggle about the deodorant , I love a glass half full attitude to life and you and Tracey most definitely have one in spades:-)
Alison, welcome back from Bonny Scotland- we have indeed had a lovely sunny spell though it's taken a turn for the worse the past couple of days. Skye is beautiful no matter what the weather dictates, hope you enjoyed your trip.
Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian Wilsonettes, do you have turkey and the trimmings etc, or are there Canadian delicacies/ customs different to the Uk and US?
Melody, it will be lovely to have Molly back with us. My head spins with the amount of social media accounts etc that today's kids have access to, it must be so hard for a parent and so worrying trying to ensure their safety and set boundaries. Modern technology has given us many good and useful outlets however it is unfortunately open to abuse too. Thankfully, this is one blog that offers nothing but support and encouragement which can only be for Molly's good hopefullyxxx
Good luck with Francis this week, I hope all goes well, How is Milly?xxx
Well, gin drip on standby, family sized bag of Maltesers, tub of Pringles and my comfy Pjs on, I guess I'm ready for a marathon reality Tv overdose with Strictly, X Factor and Gogglebox...tissues as the ready.....

Love and crafty hugs

PS. Love to absent friendsxxxx

Hi Sue, beautiful gorgeous card I really like lol the tone on tone look an I love that butterfly an your flowers are fab as always. Take Care Melody xxxXxxx

Your right Laine the kids can get into far to much, hopefully Molly is all sorted now she been dead upset having her phone an iPad took off her, she hadn't really done anything wrong but she was not meant to be openlng loads of emails to join other sites all the kids are on an she knew she was not meant to be joining sites without asking 1st. Anyway it's all sorted she is just happy to be getting her bits back.
Milly got over her operation ok but now she seems to be back to how she was still in same pain when she eats an hitting herself in the face an crying, so it looks like it was not her teeth or little lump they took out her mouth, so she going to have to go back to vets, Francis says it might still be healing but I don't know. Thanks for asking though xxx

Hi Sue

Ove it. One of my favourite backgrounds and I adore the sentiment! I brought some crystal laquer when I picked up a few essentials from JS late last month in readiness for a play. Luckily I've been hording tissue paper from shoe boxes and Mr W's shirts for a while now as it's good for tracing sewing patterns too! Hopefully soon...

Steph, please continue to share as much as you want of Lottie Beth's progress. None of us would begrudge you the obvious joy of being a grandparent and now we know she's here we love to hear how she's getting on. I hope your daughter is ok and recovering after the birth x

Melody, I don't know of a single kid who hasn't pushed the boundaries with technology. There's a lot of pressure from others, I'm glad I went to school before computers, pads, smartphones and I don't envy any parent who has to take decisions about technology at all. Technology has improved our lives in many ways but it comes with a lot of pitfalls! It'll be lovely to hear from her again though, we've all missed her! Sorry Milly is struggling again, that's not good. Hugs to you and Francis x

Tracy, The deodorant story made me smile too. Hope you're ok and staying strong, hugs x

Missed John's shows :-( Very sleepy!

Maria, hugs back at you x

Wishing everyone a lovely new week. Hugs to you all, plenty extra if you need them.

T x
