Paved Pearl Background

Hello my crafty friends!  This is a bit different in that I have done a background with my Paved Pearl technique, usually it is a border around my topper!  I just love the textural feel to it, don't you?!

On another note, the call has just gone out for the Creative Expressions Design Team.  All the details are included in this link for you    http://www.creative-expressions.uk.com/downloads/
If you have always wanted to be part of a design team, now is your chance to show off your stuff!

The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 10" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning dear Sue.
A beautiful card again today and I really enjoy your video tutorials.
The dies and paved pearl technique is all this card needs (maybe a sprinkling of iced snow on the odd snowflake on the borders ) but it doesn't cry out for winter flowers or big bow's it's beautiful just as it is.
Hope you have a lovely day Sue.
Hugs.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, looking forward to seeing this video, I saw this card on Hochanda and wanted to make it then, I remember seeing a while ago how you added the dots but this will not refresh it for me in my mind and I can refer back to it whenever I need to, brilliant.

I would love to be on the design team but cannot get to Kettering as I am disabled which is a great shame and I love everything about creative expressions products and would be in seventh heaven making things from them.

On another note I have finally got my original order from Hochanda ordered on 13th September and arrived yesterday, have had another conversation with the manager and am being compensated for all the mix up.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Hello Sue and all
Lovely blue and white card, really must practice harder with the paved pearl technique - The pearl glue seems fine but with the white I can't seem to manage the small dots and some go flat though I don't feel as though the bottle is touching the card - as they say practice makes perfect

Morning Sue
I love your pearl paved effect and yes it looks just as good as a background as it does round the edges. Your colour palette really shows off your beautiful dies just as they should be making a very striking and beautiful gift for today.

My dies arrived yesterday afternoon from your week-end shows. I have to say Hochanda are excellent in their delivery service and I do like the way they host their shows letting you demonstrate rather than butting in as done in other craft shows.
I hope they extend their flexi pay to on line as well as having to call in.

To all in pain and suffering today I hope your day gets better. To everyone please take care and stay safe. See you tomorrow.

Hi Sue,
Lovely card and I really like the paved pearl technique. I have never tried it as a background but will certainly be trying it. I do have some colours that don't seem to stay domed like Muriel says but I would just choose a colour that stayed liked pearls.
Melody, will Francis drink the Complan Smoothies? The Macmillan nurse told us to try my auntie on them when she was losing so much weight, she couldn't eat anything but did manage to drink these (& keep them down). Molly will understand that you are just trying to help Francis but I sometimes think we forget how young she is as she has such a wise head on her ( this is what I pick up from her comments anyway). It is an awful time for all of you and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Sending love and hugs to everyone and hope you all have as good a day as possible, Alison xxxxx

Morning Sue
I absolutely love this card. So lovely to see it 'properly' because could not see it clearly on Hochanda (I am sure they will get their camera work sorted soon).
The dies are so delicate and I am now the proud owner of the holly bundle die set which was on Hochanda at the weekend (thanks mum).
Blue and white is my favourite colour combo and I love the paved pearl technique. Every time I see this technique I promise that I am going to give it a go but have always broken that promise. Really must rectify this.
I do hope you are putting your feet up young lady!! I do wonder what you get up to in your 'free time'. We all like to craft but have you a hobby that we don't know about?
Heard some really sad news yesterday. Don't know how many of you are familiar with the company Inky Doodles and it's founder Sarah? I have ordered from them in the past and love the quirky stamp designs. A friend texted me yesterday and asked me to check something out on the website as she was at work. When I logged on there was a announcement to say that Sarah has passed away. I am so shocked. I had quite a lengthy conversation with her a little while before Ally Pally and she told me she would not be there this time. I had met her at previous Ally Pally shows and she was so lovely, warm and obviously talented.
Once again a harsh reminder that life is so short and we just do not know what tomorrow holds.
I am going to watch last nights Bake Off shortly as I do not want to find out from the tv or radio who was sent home. Can't believe it's the final next week. It only seems like yesterday when the series began. I do think that this series has been lovely in that all the contestants genuinely seem to get on without any of the forced smiles and sideways 'dirty looks' at each other.
Another favourite will be back very soon. I am talking about Apprentice. Love it. It does worry me slightly that the participants are supposed to be the 'brightest business brains' that the country has to offer. I find myself screaming at the telly in an animated fashion as the stupidity of the idiots trying to impress Alan Sugar is beyond belief.
Bake off is calling. Housework is screaming but I am choosing to ignore that. Weather is looking lovely again and I think is going to hold out over the weekend so I must try and find the bottom of my washing basket so I can take advantage of the drying without the use of electricity.
Have a lovely day everyone and take care.

When I was her age, my lovely Gran had a similar battle - then, we were still 'children' and the harsh realities were kept from us; now it seems we all, even the little ones, know so much and can't be protected.

Good Evening Sue and her crafty crew!

Today's card for me is one , if not the, most favourite Christmas card of your the current season- it has stiff competition but it has many of the elements that I love most and would dearly like to replicate. I'm not embarrassed to admit that I will unashamedly plagerise this little gem, there is nothing that I could do to improve it , it is perfection. I love that tone of blue, is it cobalt?, the snowflake border and central piece stand out beautifully against it. The paved pearls are a delight, I must try this ASAP, and the TINI pearl accents add a finishing touch that is simply exemplary.
It's been a funny old day, my Mum left at 10am for her train to York and the house seemed deathly quiet- sometimes we crave a bit of peace but when it is thrust upon us, particularly under sad circumstances, it can feel strange and lonely...I miss her already, but I have my two furry babies to keep me company, a mountain of Christmas cards to get through and plenty of housework to keep me occupied. I don't mind admitting that I'm a little scared about coping with Brodies walks since my Mum has a much firmer hand and tone with him...he takes me for a big soft mug..and he may be right to:-) he may be a cat but we often resemble a rag doll being dragged by a buffalo, I've went flat on my face more than once!
Tracey, I hope that you received good news about your results earlier today, do tell us how you got onxxx
Yvonne, I share your love of Bake Off and will be sad when it comes to an end- it's not so much Paul's twinkly blue eyes that I will miss...they've been replaced in my affections by Gleb and Alijaz on Strictly...more so the delectable cakes and pastries that I am inspired to eat rather than create...not for the first time do I wish that my Mum was an enthusiastic patisserie chef, only to be disappointed with shop bought Battenburg and frozen Arctic Roll:-) I am sad that lovely Flora was eliminated, her bakes were visually stunning, but I think Nadia may win, she's been a slow burner.
Wouldn't it be fabulous to be on the Creative Expressions Design team! Imagine working with Sue, John , Julia and Phil that would be amazing- I would love to do it but fear that my abilities at design are sadly lacking and Kettering is a long long way from Stirling I'm afraid:-( Good luck to all the candidates though!
Melody, you poor sweet lady, I'm sorry that Molly is struggling at the moment, I have to remind myself that whilst she has a maturity beyond her years, she is still only a little girl with a child's outlook- everything is black/white, good/bad when you are that age but I am sure that she will realise that what you are doing is with the best of intentions and for Francis's goodxxx
I'm going to watch some of my Game of Thrones box set , my Mum used to rave on about it until I eventually gave in- I had thought it was all sex, violence and depravity...I was right!, but it is soooo good and a little bit of escapism.
Have a lovely night allxxxx

MELODY.
Have been reading your dilemma 're your husband and building him up without over loading his tummy with food, so the surgeon can operate.
There is a product (on prescription only) called FORTISIP. It's similar to milkshake but not that thick gloopy muck. It's used as a supplement to help the calorie intake. It's all I could have during a bad Crohns attack. It comes in loads and loads of flavours and is really palatable. You will need to either see your husband's Gp or be referred to the hospital dietician to see if this is the right way forward to help Frances gain a little weight and in turn strength, it helped me, but I know circumstances are different regarding health but just thought id add some information for you as I know Sue wouldn't have any objection to me leaving this message in hopes you will see it.
God Bless.

Hi Sue
Love your paved pearl technique as it looks amazing & the card recipients will think that it has taken you forever to get that magical effect.

Beautiful stunning card & the blue & white colour works perfectly & looks very rich I think.

Just gonna watch your video & take it all in & have a go, won't be as amazing as yours though but we've all got to start at the beginning & persevere !!!

Hi Sue, I can't believe that I have come on here twice already but been interrupted both times! I have now managed to watch the video which is, as usual, very clear and explanatory. I love the snowflake border/corner/tag set and you have used the border here to great effect, I do like that shade of blue. I too saw the sample on your shows and am pleased to be able to see it properly now.

Laine - are you sure you can manage Brodie on your own? Should I send round my old boy for some lessons on how to come in at night? I wouldn't send the girls because they would just lead him into more mischief!

Tracy - I hope you got the results you hoped for.
Melody - you, Francis, Molly (and Milly) are all in my thoughts.

Frances

I love blue and white combination for a card. Many of my winter cards are blue and white. I love the texture of your embossing. Another fabulous card Sue!

I didn't watch the video before I posted and thought your Cosmic Shimmer was an embossing folder. Lol. I have been looking for a snowflake embossing folder that is random sizes and placement...hint hint.

Hi Sue, really liked the look of this card when you showed it on Hochanda love the blue and white as well. Take care Melody xxxXxxx

Thank you all for the support an the suggestion about him building up enough to have the operation if the liver is ok,nand yes the Fortisp drinks have over taken the house they keep sending them round by the box loads he does drink them an he even let's me mix them with really creamy ice cream so that it's a lot more calories, He had started to pick up when they stopped the chemotherapy he was eating a fair amount an all the build up drinks he had put on over a stone, but since the day they talked about the choice he will have to make he seems to have gone backwards in his progress not that I blame him I still can't get to grips with it all,he says he will pick the op an go for the 50/50 of even making it through the op let alone everything that he will have to follow, but he won't have this choice if the team he sees on the 9th say he not strong enough for the 11 hour op they said he really needs to be stong in himself an they not just talking about his weight. I am on his case near 24/7 because he ain't getting any rest an I can't sleep knowing he is up, he said he fancied fish fingers an peas at 4.30 this morning so I went to the garage to see if I could get any as he never norm eats them, cooked them he said he wanted 7 an a can of peas which I not seen in years, he ate 1 an said sorry babe if I try one more I going to through up, so it's really not looking good for him building up when he walks from room he looks like he is going to fall over an that's another reason I can't sleep because he is up an moving about. Anyway things may change again an he start stuffing his face an build himself up for the tests. I'm going to lay on my bed now an watch johns show an hope I nod off for a bit. Anyway thank you all again for caring, I know Molly is building up to coming back she as gone shy over the Facebook thing she worried everyone thinks she nit really meant to be here, she as seen what you all said an sue as spoke with her, so think she be back soon. Take care an I really do thank you all so much xXx

Hi, Sue and everyone.
I'm now back in the UK, having arrived back at London Heathrow yesterday (Thurs) afternoon.
I haven't commented for a few days. (Lack of Internet for various reasons, packing and travelling etc.)
We drive back home to S. Wales later today.

This is a nice blue and white card, Sue. Yesterday's Giveaway was lovely too.

Hugs and Best Wishes to you all,

Angela , currently in Essex Xx

Hello Sue & WW!
Absolutely beautiful card Sue & fun too! I don't have any of the PVA glue but maybe something else would work if I follow your tip of not letting the bottle tip touch the drop. And then of course I'd have to resist touching a drop to see if it was dry yet...I'm also concerned over the random drop thing. When I try to place things randomly, it gets messed up...too much in one area or too close together or too many of one size near one another or ??? I have to plan out my randomness very carefully, lol (jumbo shrimp anyone?)! That said, it sure looks fun! And I will give it a go sometime soon!
I did some shopping on Joanna Sheen 9/30 as I wanted to get some of the new releases while they were still on sale (introductory price). I ordered the double pierced rectangles & squares!!!! I'm so excited to get them!!! I had several other things in my shopping cart, including the lattice snow oval (don't remember actual name right now) used in this video, the debossed snowflake set & a couple EFs etc, etc. but when I saw the total, I had to start removing items :( else I would have overdrawn my bank account! But at least I got the lower price for the piercing dies :) and 9/30 was the last day to do that. I get paid later today...so perhaps another shopping trip this weekend?
The Creative Expression design team huh? In addition to the distance issue, I doubt they would want someone who only wants to make cards exactly like you do! :-) How exciting it would be tho if one of your Wilsonettes got it!
Laine I hope Brodie doesn't take advantage of you whilst your Mum is away!
Tracy I hope the news was good, waiting is always so difficult. If the results do not come back as hoped, you will tackle what comes next and conquer! As to wondering if there is more to life than working, I'm right there with you...moments are so precious and I hate spending so many of them working. It seems much of the time I'm not working is spent on recovering from work or preparing for work. Oh I could whine forever on that topic so I'll stop!
As many have commented, we never know exactly what's around the corner. I have severe depression, but generally manage quite well considering- it of course gets worse when external things are going on that are depressing in-and-of-themselves (and there has been a lot of that over the last few years). My point (ramble as I do, I usually have a point :) is that one of the coping mechanisms that has served me well over the years, and that I must employ every single day, is to take pleasure in as many small things as I can. This blog has become one of those things. From the beauty of Sue's daily gifts, to the things she teaches us, to the 4 paw and other funny stories, to the kind and caring comments people make to everyone...well the list goes on.
So what was my point again? Lol. I guess it's to say thanks!
Rebecca in Colorado
ps. Jane Franklin, I hope you enjoy your holiday!
