Just A Note

Good Sunday morning all!  I have used the Rose Garden Mini Striplet to create most of this card.  Cutting it three times using just the inside cutting die has given the decorative background for the card.  I mounted it up with foam for dimension and placed it over another piece of white card for a subtle tonal look.  I cut a fourth one but used the outer cutting edge for this one.  I cut a backdrop out of pink card and backed it.  I added it on top of the background offset to the left.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it with the Pierced Flags and used Victorian Velvet on the edges of the flag .  I cut and created three Diagonal Foldover flowers out of white felt.  I mounted them in a cluster with white tulleLaurel Leaves and pastel Baker Twine, tucking the sentiment strip under the edge.  I added a simple pierced mat, a thin pink one and another white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/4" x  7 1/2" in size.

The winners of this week's comment game are:

Hazel Young!!!
Karen M!!!
Elsie Smith!!!

For the extra qualifying post of Wed. Oct. 21st, the winners are:

Bridget CG!!!
Jackie Trinder!!!
Barbara (C)!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Sunday Smiles to you Sue. Congrats to winner's.

I've looked at this striplet die numerous times, but my festive dies needs to take priority at the moment (although I would use the rose striplet more during the none festive months ) I have to think of the amount of Christmas cards I have to make and each one different, so the festive dies are more helpful to me at the moment, but unless you have another surprise for us, this die will be the next none festive die on my list once all my other cards are done.
It sure is a beautiful card today. I take my foldover flower strips to market so I can roll and stick during any quiet times and today I shall also be taking my pointsettia petals, to make up and sparkle texture paste to paint along the tips. As our grand-daughter wasn't due until next weekend I've not finished her knitting lol so should take that too for when my petals are drying lol !
Tracey - just in case we 'don't get to see you' tomorrow, I send you thoughts of strength during this worrying time. Tear's are made for many emotions, you don't always have to hold back, it certainly isn't a show of weakness, so my thoughts will be with you as you travel the long and winding road.

Greetings Sue & WW. This is a lovely card Sue! Quite fetching. Diagonal fold over flowers definately needs to be added to my wish list! I have a few of the striplet dies and really like them.
I've been away from the blog for what seems like a very long time. I've caught a little bit here & there – but much prefer to read/watch/post/enjoy daily. This last week has been difficult. The eldest of our 4paws (Mo, our beautiful lilac point Siamese) started acting unusual on Tuesday...long, awful story made short, we had him euthanized Friday afternoon. There was nothing to be done that would help him for anything but maybe a couple days - and it would have been very uncomfortable for him. As it was, he was able to pass before he was in much pain and we were with him the whole time. I held his paw & snuggled him just like I always did at night. He was at least 17-1/2 yrs old so he had a good long life, but I'm never ready to lose them. I miss him terribly.
As I said, I'm very behind on the blog so not caught up on everyone's news- but I know some are going through far more difficult things and my heart & good wishes are going out to them. Tracy, Melody & Francis - it sounds like u have a big week ahead and my thoughts r with you. Hugs too. Val, good luck on your recovery from shoulder surgery! Maybe you'll get quite good at left handed typing! To those known and anyone I missed, God speed in your recovery & healing!
Hello to Laine, Beth, Theresa, Deb, Maureen, Saba, Myra, Wheely Bad, Jane F, etc, etc! I hope to catch up with all your news as soon as I get a chance to look back.
Today is my last chance at getting a card made for my Uncle's birthday & getting it to him on time. My crafting mojo seems to be awol- I need to go back over the blog for the last several days, I'm sure I'll find something! I just need to stay away from reading posts because I'll surely get too involved & never get to working on the card!
I think I'm going to steal some hugs from you all, but don't worry, I'll be happy to return them, with interest :) Rebecca in Colorado

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

How exciting to see some of your new release dies utilised in such an eye catching design that has the versatility to be used with any one of your mini striplet dies, even the Christmas themed designs. I am totally immersed with my festive cards at the moment so it is refreshing to see something totally different to whet my appetite-I love using the striplets as a background, and what an economical design using only one main die. I really must get myself some felt and the folded flower dies, they are stunning and really grab your attention. How useful are the flag dies, they are one of my best purchases to date.
I've had a hectic few days with one thing and another so my promise to try and create a card a day for the festive season has flown out the window unfortunately...until today that is. I decided to try my hand at emulating...or should that be copying?...your triple poinsettia striplet card from a previous demo. Initially I thought that it would be rather straight forward but I should have known better, Sue doesn't do simple! Cutting the three striplets was straightforward enough but embossing them on separate red card and cutting them out before placing them behind the original die cuts was more tricky and time consuming than I had thought- it didn't help that I paid no attention as to which poinsettia went where as I cut them but hey Ho, you live and learn. It didn't help that Brodie was his usual 'helpful' self with constant interruptions for a cuddle on my desk and to offer a lending paw or two- I have been hiding my final smoothie in fear that he will nab it , never to be seen again but I had it drying on my desk and he lifted it with his paw and punched it onto the floor before I had a chance to step in. There was much noise and appropriate commotion as he played football before hiding it in what can only be described as the smoothie graveyard, a place known only to him! That'll be another order placed with Julia Watts I guess then...
Whilst I appreciate the concept of an extra hour in bed this morning, someone had forgotten to tell Darcey and she woke me at her usual time for her brekkie too- having animals is like having kids at Christmas, the concept of a lie in doesn't register with them!
I'm already finding it hard to adjust to the darker late afternoon, I really feel for those who now go to work in the dark and come home in the dark cos at least I can benefit from a few hours of daylight.
Tracy, thinking about you honey, hope you've managed to control your nerves and distracted a little today, it's good that you can limit your stay in hospital by going in the morning of the operation though. This is the first step of your recovery and I wish you well, you're a tough cookie!xxxx
Val, good luck with your shoulder operation tomorrow also, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to heal, frustrating though it may boxxxx
Beth, Yvonne and Deb C, hope you are alright, miss you girlsxxxx

Love and crafty hugs,

Laine1972xxxx

Theresa said...

Hi again!

Sorry to post again...slap my wrists!...but I had to respond to Rebecca's post. I've missed you honey but I now see that you have had more important issues to deal with at home. My heart goes out to you, it is one of the worst decisions we ever have to make as a member of our family deteriorates beyond our help. Hopefully Mo is at peace now, frolicking in that big garden in the sky along with my Gizmo who we had to let go 12 months ago- he was the same age as Mo and I find some comfort in the knowledge that he had a long and pampered life, but still, it is never an easy decision to make and they leave such a gaping hole . Our other four paws were a great comfort though as I'm sure yours will be, and time is a healer. You are welcome to many bear hugs, hope they help dearxxxxx

Huge hugs and kisses,

Laine1972xxxx

Wow another beautiful card today.
Love the summery colours and the die is beautiful and of course I love the way you have
layered it up.
Also love the flowers and must confess that is my favourite flower die and had so many
lovely comments when I make those flowers.

Thanks Laine :) it has helped knowing we had a good life together. I know time will help. We're still at that stage where we forget he's gone. My husband put out two bowls of their evening snack last night. Bluesy, our other cat was pleased he got twice the snack tho. The other 4 paws definitely help. Thanks again, I really appreciate it, I'm open to all the bugs I can get :) virtual, furry, humans, whatever - they all help
Rebecca. Wait - I'm open to HUGs, not bugs! It's not letting me edit - lol.
