Christmas Double Day

Hello my crafty friends!  The weeks are counting down and Christmas will be here before we know it!  The first card showcased is a reverse letterpress technique.  I started with a piece of coconut white card and cut four Snowflake borders and glued them across the card.  Next I
used the Deboss Snowflake outer die to cut an aperture in the centre of the card through the borders.  I selected French Navy card and cut the Deboss Snowflake die using the outer and deboss die with the centre cutting die as well.  Once cut, I rubbed a Snow Cap Adirondack Pigment pad over the top which lightened the blue card, leaving the debossed snowflakes the original blue for a reverse letterpress effect.  I cut the inside die in the set in white for a bit of extra detail.  I reinserted the die back into the aperture opening with the white centre inside of it.  I stamped my sentiment on to vellum and cut it out with the Pierced Flags die set.  I attached it over the centre die giving it a bit of movement upwards in the middle.  I used the Filigree Poinsettia die and cut a flower to seat at the end of the tag.  I added some white tulle, blue Bakers twine and some Holly sprays around the flower as embellishments.  I finished the card with some decorative pearls and a pierced white mat, a thin blue mat and another white mat.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two was the result of a mini demo done during my Christmas shows on Hochanda recently.  I demonstrated my Fire and Ice technique, then later put the card together as it was just too pretty to waste!  I cut the Joy To The World mini background in black card.  Next I covered the entire front of it with a sticky adhesive sheet, then turned it over.  From the back, I rubbed Summer Meadow gilding flakes into all the exposed areas (essentially what would have been the fall away bits).  Next, I removed the other backing sheet, exposing the adhesive on the front and coated it with Iced Snow.  I trimmed the edges and mounted it on a white pierced mat and another solid white mat.  I added a few Classic poinsettias that were cut from vellum as accents to opposite corners.  The finished dimensions are
5 3/4" x  7" in size.  I hope one of these will inspire you to get your cards made early!

Julia has shows on Hochanda at 10am, 1pm and 5pm today.  She will be certainly have some great demos for you.  Don't forget to tune in!   All for now, Sue x

they don't call it retail therapy for nothing! When I'm quite stressed or my depression is especially bad, I can't seem to settle in and craft either - even tho it's something I enjoy doing. Sometimes a date with the Internet and a little shopping takes my mind off things for a short while-as long as I don't spend so much I create more stress lol! I completely understand the frustration of the postman delivering at inopportune times! If it was just a boring delivery of vitamins or household essentials, it gets delivered after my husband has gone to work and while I'm trying to sleep or get ready for work. But, if it's crafting goodies, he always makes the delivery after I leave for work, so hubby is the one to find it! Arghh, do u think it's s conspiracy? Lol. But seriously, when my mind is going in a thousand places (none of them useful or good places), I find the only thing that helps is if I can escape into books or good movies. Something that draws me in so thoroughly that I'm focused on it instead of my issues. It's escapism in the best sense - as worry has no value (yet is so hard to avoid if mind is not otherwise focused). I hope that makes sense. I might just be sleep blogging at this point! Hugs from Rebecca in Colorado

Double Friday=double wow for card #1 and then triple wow for card #2! Once again, not enuf time or brain power to absorb directions, but I'll be coming back to these for sure! So pretty!!!
Ladies, for some reason I thought it would be easier or better to go back in a couple previous days' posts and make a few direct replies there - than to try and catch up on this post. But that means, if u r even interested, you would have to go back and read. Laine, I know something you said about Brodie sparked a post that I think I put on tail end (no pun intended) of Wednesday's post. I think there r some direct replies to Teresa, Wheely, Tracy & "P" in Wales on that day as well - or maybe they were on Thursday.? Oh my, I am a sleep deprived mess (I promise i'm not in drugs)! Hi Sue,
Both are beautiful but you know what I'm going to say though - yes it's the fire and ice creation that has the edge for me.
Struggled with windows10 and going back to Windows7 as I'm typing this on my iPad, can't be doing with an unstable system such a short time before going away.
Hugs, rose

Hi Sue

The first card is stunning with the touch of blue. The second card is a little too dark for my taste but it does remind me that I need to try this technique.

Good evening Sue and the Wilsonette,
The first one is absolutely amazing Sue in all aspects of design, colour and style and has my vote today. The dark one is beautiful but too dark for me personally but I do love how you have done it but I would need to make it lighter and brighter. Your little Joy to the World die makes such a beautiful wee card and would be lovely batch making just doing different twists on it. Thank you Sue for a lovely Friday full of inspiration and wonderment.
Sorry I've not been around but had a few bad days so I am hoping that I'm going to get them less often but it's silly things that set me off.
Sending crafty hugs to all Wilsonettes in need of one for whatever reason.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (glenochil)

Wonderful card designs today. I really like the ethereal look of the poinsettias that the vellum gives them. I was able to watch you do the second card techique when you demonstrated it on the hochanda show. What fun!

I have to have an inventory app on my phone to put my dies in or else I end up with duplicates. I'll look at one in a store and think, now, do I already have that - or is it just that I've looked at it and wanted it? If I keep up with the inventory app, i can look it up (since I always have my phone). It's definitely prevented some double purchases! Although I think my friends preferred it when I bought duplicates because they always ended up with them! (I too waited too long to figure it out, so couldn't return the dies). I wish I could say I was neat & tidy and always knew what I had and where it was...but that would be a lie! My craft room is a crazy mess! If Laine were to visit me (u know. If we could blink our eyes or wiggle our nose and be wherever we wanted to be) she would either go into shock and leave as quickly as she came - or it would seem a challenge to her and she would get me all organized! Then Beth could redecorate for me and I'd be good to go! Lol

Absolutely beautiful Sue. I really love how the classic poinsettia cut from the vellum accents the second card. The silver edges are just so classy, and I would not think to do that with the gold gilding. Simply stunning!
