Thank you

Good Sunday morning!  Here's another card that I seemed to have overlooked!  I must admit that this one is pretty in real life, but the pictures just don't pick up the Rich Plum card very well.  It's a buckle card (my favourites) using the California Decorative Frames for the buckle.  I started with the background though and embossed it with the Tapestry embossing folder using our soft vintage gold card.  I matted it on rich plum card and used the fall away pieces from Marvellous Squares for the corner embellishment.  I cut the largest die in the Decorative Frames Set B out of coconut white card as a backdrop for my buckle feature.  I used the next two sizes down in the set and cut them as frames, one larger and two smaller and I inked them while still in the die with clear perfect medium and dusted them with gold mica powder.  I cut a strip of gold card and matted it with rich plum to use as the weaving strip for my buckle.  I fixed all the frames in place and secured them with tape and mounting foam.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Italian Decorative frame die.  I inked it with clear perfect medium and then heated gold embossing powder to frame the sentiment.  I added it n the middle with mounting foam.  I finished the card with a double white mat with a pierced inner mat to balance the card.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x 8" in size.

Now for the weekly Comment Game winners.  They are:
Lorna!!!
Elizabeth S!!!
Redfox!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.

Don't forget to check back on Monday afternoon for the list of the winners for the Christmas dies!  My usual post will go live at 6am with the dies being posted later in the day.  If you haven't left comments on any of the die posts, it isn't too late to do so, you have until 6am on Monday morning.  All for now, Sue x

Hi Sue. What a gorgeous card, you have got me hooked on buckle cards. The rich plum doesn't show up really well on my screen but I can easily imagine what it looks like "in the flesh".
Congratulations to the lucky winners, and Good luck to everyone for tomorrows draw : )
Sending my daily hugs to you Sue, to Pam and Robbie, to Sandra and Pat and all of my other special friends and to all in need. Take care.

Love, love, love this card. Although the color looks more brownish than plum, it's still beautiful. Love the "buckle", the embossing, the layers - everything. Of course I pinned!

Always like your buckle cards, Sue, this must look really rich in the flesh - so to speak - but still looks great in the chocolate colour on screen. Only have the plain Calif. frames and next on list to buy is the decorative ones (plus many others!!)
Well done to the winners.

Sunday smiles to you Sue and my dear friends hope you slept well. Im imagining lots of little fingers tapping away all with lovely compliments for a beautiful card. Such rich regal colour's this morning. How stunning is plum and gold together, these combo's really show the pattern of the EF and all patterns from the dies.
It really is a stunning card and the sentiment comes right back to you Sue and all my beautiful friends too many to list, but you all know how special you are to me.

Although the colours are not showing plum it's still gorgeous in brown with my favourite gold card ( its not too shiny and very subtle). I must remember to use mica powder not embossing powder on a card it looks fabulous.

morning Sue
Thank you for a beautiful start to my Sunday morning which in itself is lovely as the sun is shining through a mist with dew on the garden making a lovely Autumn scene and your gift today just echos that in its colours (it maybe plum in real life but on my laptop it's a gorgeous brown).
I love your buckle cards. They are really special and today's is no exception. I'm still not happy with my efforts but continue and hope that at the end it looks something like.

Steph - thinking of you today and your market - please don't do too much standing. Do you have any help on your stand? Hubby maybe!

Cam - hope you had a reasonable day out. As I said yesterday please talk to someone.

Norah - Mr E doesn't get any pastries when we are back home in the UK as he says they cannot compete. He/me always go on a light diet when we get back.(lol)
We call both places home. It sometimes confuses people especially the ones who don't know we have a small home over here. It is really just like home the only difference is that we do not have a TV and we are all on one floor (fantastic for me). We have just one bedroom in the house but a small annexe in the garden which we also use as a bedroom.

We will have to get wrapped up this morning for the trip to market as it's single figure on the Angel. Perhaps it will warm up as the day goes along.

Hope everyone is feeling a little better and brighter today and enjoying the British bank holiday. If out and about take care and return home safely. See you tomorrow.

Yesterday I ended up in Sherborne in Dorset which in my view is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful towns in England. With its abundance of medieval buildings, superb Abbey, world famous Schools, picturesque Almshouse and two Castles, and lovely teas shops. I fully recharged my soul... with a feast of beautiful things at every turn.

Theresa, Emma will be fine and she will have a Ball in Michael's.. one of the biggest crafts stores I have ever been in whilst in New York.

Well have a lovely day everyone I hope the sun shines on you wherever you are...

Good morning Sue and Wilsonettes,
I have had to read it 3 times to find out that there is no chocolate card been used on top of the plum & that it is clear perfect medium and mica to create the effect, clever. I think brain has disappeared with Gail & Tandy on holiday, but i wish it had taken the rest of me as well. Please remember Sue the offer to hide in the suitcase is still open for our, sorry your next trip back home.
Cameeli flower, i'm glad that your wee escape plan of yesterday helped bring you back to your old self a bit. You have many friends here and in reality world, use them/us, letting them in just might make the biggest difference. I hope that my wee cyber ((hug)) will give you a wee bit boost.
Steph, i hope that you have a great day at the market selling your beautiful creations. I wish you a sellout but don't want it to put extra pressure on you for the next market/craft fayre, so have fun and i hope that you are not too sore after.((Hugs))
Nice working out Theresa(Tob) on the Micheals front. I am just wondering if said lovely hotel was picked deliberately for it's proximity to Michaels? I hope Emma has a lovely time and good for her going herself as she will make friends when there i am sure, but most of all i hope she has a ball.
When going through things of my past i often think no one will know the rubbish that i am talking so it's lovely reading everyone else's.It makes me so happy to bring back some happy memories to others minds that are long forgotten and it's only now years later that we can laugh.
Mum rumped my hair too Tina when i complained about the tugs because she wasn't too canny with the brush. The amount of times she walloped the brush off the top of my head because i wouldn't stand still. Her's came right down to her bum and was so thick that when she put it in a bun for work it needed numerous heavy duty hairpins to keep it in place. Her work colleagues were always fascinated with the length and how she could get it into this tight wee bun, but if any of those pins came out wow how the hair escaped and came a tumbling down. When i started at primary in the middle of P5 year because of dad getting a job across this way. I was ill and was taken to the nurses room to lie down(mum was on holiday again in Stirling Royal Infirmary), anyway someone came into the room while i was sleeping and hacked a big sort of V into the back of my long hair. I was in tears and the perpetrator was never caught. I will not tell you what mum said when she seen it but she signed herself out of hospital that same day and take the tongue lashing the headmaster got from mum about it. That was the start of 10years of hell. 10years it took to get out of there but it's amazing what a change of location can do.
OH Karen(Magpie), what a horrific experience for you, no wonder you got it cut after that. I am a hairdresser in a previous life so know exactly what you mean when you say about them going daft with a pair of scissors or cutting your hair into a totally unflattering look. I have the belief that you can always cut more off, you can't glue it back on and there is more than a fortnight between a bad hair cut and good let me tell you.
Glad you are feeling a lot chirpier Diane(with chips) and hope that you are home soon.
Janet, do you and Mr E have a two size wardrobe as you must waste away when you come home to this home with none of the goodies on offer and he is probably right in his assessment of UK's pastries.
Well i am going to leave you all with hugs for young Robbie, Baby Leo and all my Wilsonette friends,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
And my hills have definitely shrunk in the wash x

Hi Sue, I think it is more a case of "Thank you for all you do"!! The California dies work so well as buckles so I am putting this on my to do list as they make an interesting focal point. I'm getting brown rather than plum but I'm sure t looks just as good, love from Jackie D

Hi Sue & All! Hope you are all well? It has been a lovely week, weather wise but has started raining here, now! I have been a bit down, this week, as I have to go for a scan on my bladder on Tuesday & I am NOT looking forward to it! I suffer with bladder stones, which can be HUGE & PAINFUL, so I may have to have more removed! Anyway...! You have produced another stunning card Sue, the colours are so elegant & the sentiment is perfect for anyone! A card like that should be made for you, as you do SO much for us all! Hope to be in with the chance of winning a lovely card like that! Take care! Love, Mary Blight XXX

Afternoon one and all. Love your buckle cards Sue, I never seem to make them very often, must put that right soon.
Oh these hair stories, it's no wonder I hate having mine cut, it's been nearly eighteen months since the last trim and I keep putting it off. My daughter when about four had lovely long blonde hair, (still does) but one day she came down to me and her hair was in a terrible mess, she had grabbed handfuls of it and hacked it off, sort of layered in places, well I wasn't too impressed, she said she had die it as wanted it short for the day! Well it stayed like it until it grew out, I refused to take her to the hairdressers to get it sorted, she had to live with it for well over a year until it had grown enough for it not to look ridiculous when shaped! Needless to say she never did it again!
Steph, hope your market stall went really well today and you didn't get requests for cards not made.
Cameeli, sounds like you had a marathon train ride, hope it's left you feeling easier.
Well better get on, we have spent the day so far getting horses ridden, just had one problem when one of the ones my daughter was riding stumbled in canter, and went head first into the ground sending her flying and he ended up lying next to her, luckily both were ok! one worried mum!
Love to all especially, Lynne, Pam, June, Jackie, Julie and Lee, Linda, Tres,TOB, Tandy, Margaret, mrs B, Mrs Duck, Dianeandchips, Wheelybad, Myra, Norah, and all I have missed, and congratulations to today's winners xxxx

Very pretty indeed. You are quite right though - the plum card looks brown in the photos, but I have this card and it is a lovely rich colour in reality. I can't believe it, but I have never made a buckle card - shame on me!

Morning Sue...I simply love this card, it really does look brown like Jean says, and I think it would look stunning in brown and gold.

Hi Sue,
Another elegant card - I love the colour combo of plum and gold. The dies really make it and the embossing ain't half bad, either. The little round Italian (die, of course) is so pretty and versatile, the Californians are just simply elegant.
Hugs, Rose

Hi Sue, I have to agree with some of the other comments about the plum card looking brown from a distance...thanks everyone, I was worried it was my laptop playing games lol. This is really stunning, does anyone else thing the backing card is the colour of caramac? It's a very stylish card and I would be very proud if I could produce something as wonderful. As always, Sue, thanks for sharing with us:)

Hi Sue,

Guessing this was taken in artificial light, I'm definitely getting a reddish brown and the lighter card looks quite cream coloured but it all works... perhaps we're getting two colour scheme ideas in one! I like this EF, an older design I think so I'll be lucky to find it, I like the waste from the squares die. I think it's one of the ones I want- like all the rest lol. It's a lovely card and I can't wait to try something similar.

Pam, physio is sadly not enjoyable! It's progress though and better than being in plaster :-) I'm delighted with news of more of Robbie's progress. Thank you for your kind wishes yesterday, I caught up reading today as was pretty tired yesterday.

Thank you Lynda xxx I only see Mr W and Alex in the course of most weeks and I hate being a bit of a stuck record. Coming on the blog is like chatting to friends and sometimes I just have to put my hand up and say if it's getting too much. I do feel happier today, stiil tired and uncomfortable but happier. I'm booked to see my GP a week Wednesday to 'check in' an it's only a few days until I can call the hospital now so maybe they will shed light on why this hasn't gone quite as planned!

Good luck In hospital Tuesday, Mary Blight xxx

Norah, your tales do make me smile, I had long hair down to my bottom as a child and into my mid/ late twenties. Every one told me how lovely it was but it was thick and heavy, looking after it was a nightmare! I kept it long until my best friend passed away when I marked the first anniversary of his passing by getting it all shaved off to raise money for the local hospice that cared for him. I worked with primary school kids then and six weeks after having it done it dawned on me that I hadn't caught headlice in that time! I've kept it short ever since. My nanna had been a tailoress so my mum could sew well. Nearly all my clothes were hand me downs and she either adjusted them or made new items out of them. I was such a tomboy as a kid that dresses were a no no so she made tops out of the dresses for me. I love sewing and just brought an online sewing and tailoring one year course to try to learn to make my own clothes properly. I hope it wil motivate me and make lesson times for myself to give my days some badly missed structure.

My thoughts with the residents of North California, after the earthquake there.

I must go, very tired now and can see more keys than are on the keypad. Hugs hugs to Sue who brings us all such joy. Careful hugs to those ill, in pain or in recovery. Special hugs to my special Wilsonette friends, I'm afraid if I start writing names I will forget most of them and hugs to Wilsonettes everywhere, have a lovely bank holiday and happy crafting!

T x

Hi Sue,
Really sorry I haven't commented for a couple of days, but my poor 89 year old aunt hasn't been at all well and I've been looking after her. Stupidly, I forgot to take my phone and she has no internet , so haven't been able to get on the blog. Happily, she's feeling a bit better today and at least is able to get about. We go to see her oncologist on Wednesday to see if things have got worse so not looking forward to that.
Anyway, back to today's card. I love your buckle cards and this is no exception. The colours don't look quite right on my iPad though! Congratulations to the winners of the comment game.
Pam, glad your physio has started - just make sure you do everything they tell you even though it will hurt. I know when I had my knee replacement I did all of the exercises I was given and have had no problems thankfully. Great news about Robbie too. Cameeli, pleased you seem to be a bit brighter today and glad you enjoyed your day trip. Wheely Bad hope you feel better soon. Steph glad you seem to be feeling a bit better and hope the market went well. Sorry, I haven't caught up with all of the comments from the last few days, but I send gentle hugs to those in need and lots of love to everyone else . Alison xxxx

Beautiful card - I love the buckle effect and had a go. There must be a knack to getting the 'buckle' components lined up because it took me forever to get them (relatively) straight!!

What fantastic layering and use of these dies!! The color combo is so rich with the plum. The small details of the pearls and corners add so much! And that fab embossing is so pretty! Your buckle style really rocks!
