Creative Expressions August 2014 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Creative Expressions August 2014 Blog Hop! These new Christmas designs from the Singles Range at Creative Expressions, include seven different stamps. As you will see from the samples made for the Blog Hop, they do not just have to be used as they are but can be altered and interchanged to give lots of different options.

One randomly selected person commenting on this blog post before the blog hop closing date will win the following fabulous prize, which includes some of the new stamp designs.

For my project, I used the new Creative Expressions Merry Christmas pre-cut stamp.  I decided to split it apart so I stamped it twice using a black archival ink pad on to milk card.  The "Merry was easy to cut apart as it has a straight line box around it.  The second time I stamped it though, I masked it by covering the "Merry" with tape, inked the stamp and quickly removed the tape before stamping so just the "Christmas" was stamped by itself.  I cut it out with the Radiant Rectangle die and inked it with Antique Linen before removing it.  I cut another in black to use as shadow behind it.  I created a background for my card by inking my embossing folder with Clear Perfect Medium.  I ran a piece of milk card through and transferred the ink to it.  I dusted it with Angel Gold Sparkle pigment for a soft shimmery glow.  I added my "Merry" and "Christmas" elements to the background with mounting foam and added 3mm cream pearls to the background design around them.  I made two small poinsettias and added them to the side of the "Merry" block.  A holly Spray in black was cut and tucked underneath it.  I made two more larger poinsettias and added them to the side of my card with some black tulle and several more holly sprays.  Each of the holly sprays have had Iced Snow added to the leaves as well.  I finished the card with a pierced mat layer of milk card, then a thin black mat with a final mat of milk card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/4" in size.

Thank you for visiting my blog, please leave a comment below in order to be in with a chance of winning a prize!

What a fantastic way to use stamps. It certainly shows that you do not have to have all the expensive kit to make a most beautiful gift. If you don't own a die cutting machine shapes can be done either by hand cutting or buying ready cut shapes and with today's stamp you have a most beautiful card and without all the colour markers too. Mono-chrome is so beautiful.
Sue what a wonderful idea - a'blog hop'. I just know that it's going to take off with a real flourish!

Norah - where are you? Hope you are well. Am missing you.
Cameeli - where are you? Missing you. Hope you're OK.
Sandra - Hope you're having a fantastic holiday.

Well it's Friday so it's Weekly Market Day. Corbigny will be so much quieter this morning after the last hectic week=ens so it will be a stroll down the main street and of course coffee at the bottom and then Pastry Shop. (it sounds as thought all I do is buy pastries doesn't it?).

Hope everyone is feeling a little better this morning and ready for the week-end. Hope all plans come together and the weather is kind. Take care and see you tomorrow.

Ok... Think Im properly awake now, my eyes are focusing better than 40 minutes ago, and a quater of my brain cell has just sparked into life ( I think that's what the noise was ) !! So Ive had another look at this beautiful Friday gift. The very first thing my eye's focused on is the stunning EF, its devine, and all thise tiny pearls, wow. Here's my secret - if like me you are a bit 'stingy' with your fav products e.g pretty pearls, I use my 'fake pearls' my PVA glue looks like tiny little
pearls so that is what I use unless its a special or ordered card ! But I too wondered if it was a new folder.
As I thought my hop has flopped ! There are no options to select the profile I usually have to select - anonymous, so Im hopping on the spot today : )
Im sending lots of love and happiness to you Sue, and to my dear friends that have woken up struggling, take your time, and take the day as it comes, tomorrow is a new day.
Love you.

Will give the hop a go today and watch Julia's progs.maybe also get out to do some gardening as the forecast is for good weather , and we certainly haven't had much of that recently.
Still missing Norah and Cameeli, hope you will be in touch soon.

Hi Sue, what a beautiful dramatic Xmas card, love it. The black/milk combo is a real winner. Lol lynne m x x x x

Hubby took poochies over the park yesterday morning as my head was playing up , told that they behaved for him. He really doesn't know how close he is to getting on my last nerve sometimes, with his comments on how his little princesses behave for him.
Well I knew that I had my daughters birthday card to do so off to the craft room I went with pesky critters tagging along behind. Sat at my craft desk busy getting the card done , Tilly led out on her back to the right of me. Cully led stretched out behind my chair. Finished the bit I was doing and needed to get up to get the pearls for the inside of the flowers, turned round in my chair and told Cully to move out the way so I could push my chair back. One eye opened looked at me, smirk appeared, eye closed and no movement occured. "CULLY" move now!!!!!. The absolute little "B" completely ignored me knowing that I wouldn't move cuz was worried the wheels on the chair could catch her fur. Aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh!!! payback time , just because of the "breakfast incident in the forest" Cully was now getting her own back. What did she expect , if she had come back when we called , I wouldn't have had to resort to drastic measures. Well there I sat unable to move wondering what the devil to do to get her to move cuz typical if you can't move you want to go to the loo, when salvation happened in the shape of my youngest daughter arriving to say "mum I'm hungry can I cook some sausages for a sandwich". Cullys
head whipped up and like a streak of lightning she was gone . My daughter called up to ask if poochies had had their dinner cuz they were sat watching her cook her sausages. Muttering to myself about the devious divas I dived straight to the loo. The little madam ( cully) had a smile on her face for the rest of the day . I keep telling myself that poochies don't deliberately play me up but there is a little voice in my head that is getting louder and louder saying YES THEY DO.

To all my wonderful friends have a great day. Lol and massive hugs loopy lynne & devious divas x x x

ps - Maria if you would like a pic of the poochies please email me at craftlynnie59@hotmail.co.uk

What a striking card. Fantastic! Will tune in to Julia shortly.

Lancashire Stephen as an imposter you would not have heard of the Nevada. It was an iconic roller rink in Bolton where everybody went that at least 2 generations had used. It burnt down as an insurance fraud in the 80s but is still talked about today! As an imposter you say you don't know many people well you have a new cyber friend in me!

Myra not Mary Berry just yet but like to try things I can do as gifts and make look even better with a crafty gift box. People always love it and are impressed!

Cheryl, thinking of you deal with one day at a time and what you face on that day. Don't let your mind wander to what may or may not be as it may never happen. Be strong xxx

Good morning Sue - this is the first time on the Blog hop for me.
I love this card and the new stamps - although I'm not a stampist. I really must stop buying Christmas things as I really really have enough - if I say this often enough I may convince myself.
Hope everyone is well and have a good day all. Helen xx

Good morning Sue, and all the ladies.
At first I thought "like the card, don't like the monochrome for Christmas". Then I thought of all the people who would like it (the more modern friends and family - and I include myself in that!) so now I think YES great card!! I Know, fickle is my middle name.
Being a fairly new computer user (7 months) I'm hoping that I can do the blog hop but I'll give it a go. We are having a few days in Cirencester next week for a little break, and I'm taking my laptop so I hope I'll be able to use it there.
Norah and Cameeli, where are you?
I hope all is well.
I hope everyone has as good a day and they can and love and hugs to Yorkilass June, Lynne Mills with all your stories, barbiepinfairy, Lancashire Steph, Ita, Cheryl Brown - (I'll offer up my prayers for you and think of you on the 8th) and all those I've forgotton.
Thank you Sue x

Black and white makes a very unusual festive card. Yours is lovely and the stamps look very versatile.
It would be nice to comment on the other blogs in the hop, but some don't have the Name/URL option which rules me out.

morning Su and everyone on this blog hop. I love the monochrome look - just the sort of card I would make and send to my daughter who seems to live in black and white

One of the prettiest cards I have seen, the use of the Antique Linen Distress Ink was an inspiration, which I would never have thought of with the black and white.

Good morning Sue and my fellow Wilsonettes,
Sorry Sue for not being on but Rory's DLA form positively done me in to the point i put back and neck out and couldn't move. It has taken until today to uncurl and get some movement back in the body. Because i am a tiny writer(well this you know and i made it bigger for you), i have to write it in capitals and bigger which is an absolute nightmare just because it causes the body to go into cramps and spasms. But although not back yet to normal well as normal as i can be, i am afraid you have trouble back amongst you all again. Your card today Sue is stunning and just my right amount of black to make it elegant, but i spy a new embossing folder and wonder when we can expect it's arrival in our shops?
Janet(Ecco), i'm just thinking of the enforced diet you will be on when you return to the UK as our pastries are nowhere near the standard as the wee French Patisserie. Do you leave parts of you in France or do you bring everything home as thinking of Mr E and his car packing skills?
Oh Lynne, i can just see hubby's little "princesses" and think yip i can believe it as mum has a Bichon Fresch now (2yr) that is going to get flying lessions from my left foot if i could get it high enough. She is a little midden and just ignores mum and what she says to her. Me, awh no, she knows better than ignore me because she has had a few skuds across the behind from me because of what she has done so i can sympathise with your plight. Isn't it amazing how good their selective hearing is when the hear or smell food? Hugs for you and your poor head.
Thank you lovely ladies for your kindness, although i am back on about half power which is enough to let me see and speak to all you again. I hate those forms and trying to get help to fill them in is nowhere to be found, so i just have to try as best as i can. The wee fella was so excited as it was his birthday yesterday. You would have thought it was a million pounds he had got instead of just 3 second hand games(because the new ones were to dear mum was what i got told) and his sister and new big brother gave him the Family guy box set 6-10. It's no wonder i love my wee boy so much as he is not a greedy lad that is always wanting, he never asks for anything and is so content with what he has. Now i need to think about teeny and monday as she is 22 then. See what i mean about that number 7 bus coming along. Anyway it's dry at my hills today but that's about all the good i can say about it, so have a lovely day everyone and a big welcome to our new faces like Selma, you have arrived at the best and most caring bunch of people in the world. Sending hugs to all our special friends that are having difficulties of any sort,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (glenochil)

Helloooo Sue and the Wilsonettes! Fan-dan-man-dozy! Beautiful card Sue and love it all! The black and white looks stunning and takes you away from the usual red, green, gold and silver. I love the new stamps and wow a blog hop! We haven't had one for ages and this will keep us "on the hop" of excitement! Also to add a few more craft bloggers in the favourites! "Thank you Sue" for the inspiration. Watching Julia on the 811 channel craft extra. Wonderful demo's, stamps and stencils! Hoping this finds you and your family fine Sue. Sending love and hugs to you and all our Wilsonettes who need one today. Take care everyone, oooo and forgot to say congratulations to all the winners from the Wednesday giveaway, Baconbits and the comment game! xx Love Karen xx
