Wishing You Much Joy

Hi crafters!  Yes, it's a Christmas card, but only because the sentiment says so.  It could easily be changed and used for a number of other occasions I should think.    I started with a piece of Ruby Red card and cut the decorative insert from the Umbria die set.  I created a frame for it using the Decorative Frames set from my Italian Collection and put mounting foam on the back to raise it up over the decorative Umbria cut out.  I stamped my sentiment from the Signs of Christmas set by Justrite and cut it out with the tag from the California collection.  I cut a second tag and crisscrossed it behind the sentiment and mounted both pieces in the centre of my frame.  I wrapped some white frilly edged organza around my card and taped the ends to the back and added a double bow in the middle.  I made two matching stick pins and added some pearl string and crystal sparkler to my bow.  I added some pearls to the upper corners and finished the card with a pierced white layer, a thin red layer and a final white mat.  Finished dimensions are 6 3/4"
 x 8 1/4" in size.

Now for the Comment Game Winners to be announced.  This week's winners are:
Nannapat!!!
Bejay Roles!!!
Theresa Sweetman!!!

For the extra qualifying post of August 6th, the winners are:
GeeBee88!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.

A quick reminder that Julia Watts is on the Toolshed today at noon for two hours.  She has some lovely new Justrite stamps including the gorgeous new fan stamps! You are going to love them!  All for now, Sue x

Happy Sunday Sue and everyone, beautiful card as always.
Congrats to all winners, enjoy your prizes girls x
Ladies, loved your honeymoon stories, we too had single beds in Tenerife, and I wouldn't let my husband complain to the Reception desk. Every night he pushed the beds together, rearranged all of the bedding, and every morning the maid separated them. We never had separate beds again until he died.
Steph, you had me so on edge with your tale, what a trooper. Norah, please take care, does anyone remember Torchy the Battery Boy and Twizzle. They were favourites of mine.
Hugs to Donna and Heather, we are here for you both.
Love and hugs to all on the blog, baby Leo. Wheelybad, Lynda (Happy Birthday to granddaughter and hugs for Harry), Julie Laz and any whose names I have missed.

Oh a wake-up card, Sue, so bright on a dismal morning with RAIN, proper heavy biblical proportions rain - perhaps our stream will flow again.
As you say, could be used for many occasions - sorry to the bow-phobes, I like it!!
Well done to all the winners.

Pam - thanks for A4 TT info - have been on to Ms Sheen already.

Hi Sue,
Another Outstanding, Rich, Opulent Card I Really Love how your sharing these Christmas Cards with us it really helps me, with trying to put some of mine together I've already done a few Christmas Cards with your guidance. I Love The Rich Ruby Red Card that you've used and using The Decorative Insert from The Fabulous Umbria Die Set this is so Beautiful, then I Love how you've created a Frame from Decorative Frame from your Italian Collection, I Love this as I'm not good with Valentines Card and this Frame is ideal with all the Beautiful Hearts and just a change in the sentiment, but today it's a Wonderful Christmas Card I Love The Sentiment you've chosen from JustRite "The Signs of Christmas Set" I really Love how you've stamped it onto The Tag from The California Collection, then Cutting another Tag and placing it the opposite way it Looks Amazing why don't I think of those sort of things !!!
I Love your Awesome White Frilly Edge Organza Bow, Adding those wonderful Pearls Strings and a Crystal Sparkler and The Amazing Stick Pins.
Sue I Love this Fabulous Card Thank You for sharing, Thank You for great Photography Shots it shows your Card in such detail, Thank You For Your Hard Work.

My usual Sunday Smiles to you Sue.. And to our Wilsonettes.
What a beautiful wake up call this morning, and I agree that if you didnt read the sentiment it could be for any occassion. I see it in all white for a wedding card, white and silver for a silver wedding anniversary, plus valentines, with the other matching colour's for gold and ruby anniversaries (plus if you want/need any new crafting treats you could try making this card for your partner just to say " I Love You) they may think 'aww how lovely, I'll check the 'un-hidden list and suprise her with a gift' there again, they may not LOL !
Since my 'trial' with the guilded striplet, Im going to try and 'come out of my square box' and see if I can do something similar if the card show's any die's I have, now that's what I call either daft - as my standard isn't that high yet, or just plain experimental ! I have the Italian decorative frames, so when Ive finished off yesterday's card, I may try something along these lines. So far Ive made 6 Christening cards - 8x8 and 6x6 for boys girls and either, but just thought about twins.... This is what I mean about making myself work, always thinking of what people may ask for or need !!! 3 extra wedding cards and now onto female birthday with New Home, and Graduation still to do, so getting there albeit slowely ! Does anyone else find themselves crafting standing up ??!! I like to work from a 'birds eye view' but it wrecks me ! Am I the only 'fool' here that does that ?
Pam - hope your brother is now home and feeling a little more settled. Keeping fingers crossed you get rid of your pink leg this week, only to reveal the muckiest hairiest monster ever LOL ( going by how mine was after 8 weeks in the dark) keeping everything crossed (even my stubby fly in the wind finger) : )

To all that feel troubled, down, in pain or feels the world is against them, Im thinking of you. Tomorrow is a new day. We are here for you. You're not alone.
Thank you for today's card Sue.
Congrats to all winners, enjoy your gift.
Will take a little time out to watch the Tool Shed today and record the rest.

Try and enjoy your day whatever you have planned.
Love you.

morning Sue
A C.card; a Bday card; an Anniv.card; Congrats.card as you say Sue almost any occasion and one that will not take hours to achieve. Today's gift is so versatile and such a beautiful stand-by so is already in my 'must do and must save' file. I shall also be trying it with different colour backgrounds to see how they look.

Yesterday was another very tiring day and yes Norah I was more than jiggered and I only viewed the beautiful animals and two lines of stalls and that with stops for coffee in between. But I don't mind sitting on my own people watching as it's so fascinating and as you say just watching the stallholders and how they behave with prospective buyers. It really is an education in itself. We spent all of £7!! on a bowl coloured cream with blue roses. It's to go with a jug my eldest daughter has found on her rounds of farm sales (you know the ones that used to stand on the old wash stands). She and her husband have this beautiful (well it will be when finished completely)little farm house which needed a lot of work doing on it but not work that most moderns would do to it. She is putting it back to the age of when it was built and that means no central heating; log fires; york stone kitchen floor with good sturdy furniture as we used to have. Her only acknowledgement to today's modern facilities is electricity and plumbing. She has a small blackboard on the kitchen wall on which she writes the date started on a room and the finished date. She'll only do one room at a time and according to her timetable she will be 80 when everything is done!!!! She is now 48 so we'll see - well someone will!!!! and I don't think it will be me (68)(lol).

Again I spent the whole afternoon sat on the bed legs raised etc.
Today is an R&R day for me.

Congratulations to Baconbits yesterday and to those very lucky winners today.

Hope everyone is feeling a little better today and if not R&R is called for.
Enjoy the rest of the week-end and see you tomorrow.

To The lovely lady's

Talking about honeymoons I've never had one, we are 24 years at the end of this month, I met lee at 13 after my mam died, I came to Swansea to stay with my mams family for two weeks, seen lee fell in love with him, obviously I was too young, and went back home, came back to Swansea at 18 found lee again and got married, lee would never fly, so we've only ever seen the uk , had our first baby when I was 21, we are best friends, have 3 children 2 girls are married one grandson olly and my boy was 17 on Thursday and had his first driving lesson, doesn't time fly,

How lovely Julie. Who needs honeymoons anyway lol. Call me VERY old fashioned, but so many couples live together before getting married (not a bad thing may I add) that 'honeymoon' had a different meaning 35yrs ago, it was the first holiday without parents, start of a new VERY different way of life and new chapter and learning new things about each other.
Its so lovely you found Lee again and became best friends. Enjoy your Sunday xx

Im sure I have some already chopped into that I could send if I could get an address. Morning Janet. I love to sit and read your comments especially during your Summer retreat in France. It sounds idealic, and should be on prescription, I imagin the market, the pretty lanes, oh yeah, and the pastries that id love to try. Just the image of sitting outside with a long tall Latte and beautiful pastry relax's my mind, and I too love people watching, preferably from a quaint coffee shop or beach, just call me nosy LOL. But now you have given me something else to enjoy reading about - your daughter's cottage, ohhh wow. Please keep us updated Janet, it sounds like a dream (hopefully not a nightmare) cant wait to hear more. Shame I will never see the end result ! LOL.

Hush to Steph and Norah are your hills awash like ours today. Norah? I bet they are.
Special hugs to Sue and Sandra, I bet Sandra's weather is better than ours Sue over in Spain, lucky girl. Lounging around with nothing much to do all day reading a book, my idea of heaven. I hope I recorded the tool shed, but I bet I haven't as I only record when

Congratulations to the Comment winners, lucky things!.
Janet - I hope your daughter manages to keep going until she finishes her cottage. It sounds fab, and I hope you are picking up.
Julie - you and Lee are like my only child Rachel. She "met" Peter at school when she was 13, married at 24 without ever having lived together, and had their first child when she was 34.
Pam, get memory foam insoles from Poundland for £1.
Diane, can I come for tea and cake?
Lancashire Steph, I do lots of sitting down things standing up (if that makes sense). My back seizes up if I sit too long, but then my ankles and legs give me gyp if I stand too much. I think I'll just hang from the ceiling!!
Love and thoughts to all who are poorly or who are "down" in any way xx

Good morning Sue and my fellow Wilsonettes,
Lovely card Sue but i would need to be adding another colour. I think my eyes are seeing things but i see a thin black mat between the white. The layout is pretty and nice to show off that even though a Christmas card, your beautiful dies make the card. Thank you never seems enough to say as your beauty is always the highlight of my day, but i can send you hugs dear friend.
Having read the various honeymoon disasters, i feel mines fits in well with everyone elses. We went to Puerto Rico for ours that we had booked 5days before the wedding. Now Fiance at this point thought he was taking me to South America and i was a bit down to see us on a flight to the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria as it was this Puerto Rico we were booked for. The hotel is at the top of a 3 mile hike or you could take the short cut of 629 steps down to the beach. I went fat at 9st 1lb and came back 7st 12lb because of all the walking. The hotel was a dump and we had to get moved 3 times to get a "decent" room. We went out one night for an indian to this restuarant half roads down to the town and it was lovely only hubby hadn't bargained on the price being over our budget and had to ask someone we recognized from the hotel if we could borrow some money because we didn't have enough. Luckily the couple gave us some(what a trust those people had in us as we had never even spoken to them up until that point) his nibs gave them it back later that night, but i have never went out without my purse since. The holiday had cost us £600 of which we had taken out a loan to get of a £1000. We left the first months payment in the bank so had £300 for our honeymoon. He has never been allowed to book a holiday again to anywhere important as his geography is dire. The only other holiday he booked for us was up at Fordyce(about 7 mls from Buckie and MacDuff)where it turned out to be an old man on the estates wee cottage that was manky and you could tell that he had been turned out of his home. So the honeymoon just finished off the wedding farce. I don't think that even Frank Spencer could have had this much bad luck for one occasion.
Julie, they built the Channel Tunnel just so as Lee could see the other side of the water and the Cruises to all sorts of destinations which mean that you could still have that dream honeymoon when you are old enough to appreciate it( when No.1 son is old enough to be trusted on his own).
Barbiepinkfairy, boy are the poshiest of all of us and our honeymoons. I think i couldn't have resisted just once ringing the bell for the butler, what an experience and a definite luxury memory. I thought that hotel was just a place made up by the movies wow to find out that it was real. Now i'm wondering if you ever met any great stars at such a swish hotel.
I think Batter Boy and Twizzle must have been before i was allowed to watch television or rather found out that we had one. Well my hills are sitting sulking with soggy feet as it has been awful today. It's one lovely day or half lovely and then the rain starts and stays.
Sandra, i hope you are having a lovely holiday and that you have eased from your long drive. I hope that the sun will be helping your painful bits and the girls are having a lovely time.
Well i am going as i have a DLA form to fill in for Rory and i am too tired to think but it needs to be done, so hugs to all my dear friends, take it easy if you can,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (glenochil)

Lovely card and as you say, a design to suit many occasions. Change the colours and/or sentiment and it would be different every time. We all need a 'go-to template' and this layout fits the bill perfectly for me!

Beautiful card today Sue! Love everything about it. I like your use of the tag for the sentiment.

Hello Sue, Gorgeous card, agree could be used for so many occasions with a change of sentiment. Love the rich colour and the bow is lush. Enjoy the rest of your day.
Really enjoyed watching Julia and Dean, they make a great double act and Julia did great demos and some things did jump into my basket.
Congratulations to the lucky winners, enjoy your prizes ladies.
Pam hugs to you, Robbie and family, will be thinking of you on Wednesday.
Janet your daughters cottage sounds fab, a log job but worth it in the end.
Lynda B Happy Birthday to your grand daughter and hugs to baby Harry.
Donna and Heather T gentle hugs to you both.
Steph I too craft standing, I find it easier to handle things that way, sometimes my back disagrees though.
The honeymoon stories made me smile, we didn't have one, got married in York and moved straight into our house in Hull, he wouldn't move to York, said the houses were too expensive.
Daily hugs to Tina E, Margaret corgi owner, Steph, Norah, Jean D, Lynne M, Lynda B, Lidsay, Magpie, Wheely Bad, Norah and wee Rory, Julie and Lee, Tres, Sandra, Mrs B, Pat S, Brenda L, Janet Echo, Myra P, Maureen K, Alimecca and of course our Sue.
Take care everyone.

Hi Sue,
The gremlins have hit me today! Tried to post and it went AWOL !
Lovely card today and as you say very versatile. Just by changing either sentiment or colour could be used over and over again. Thank you again for the inspiration - love the bow! Sorry Maggie - better without a bow!!
Someone whose name I've forgotten Aiken about the RED CARD - I got mine from Sunrise - I think but have bought Creative Expressions cardstock from Joanna Sheen and Sam Poole as well. Hope this helps.
Honeymoons - what an interesting lot of stories we've had! Mine's a bit boring - honeymoon wasn't but I went on an aeroplane for the first time in my life aged 21 years! We flew to London for one night and then to Austria to a lovely little alpine town called Pertisau. Each night at 6pm as we were getting dressed for dinner the local church played Ave Maria on a loud speaker. This could be heard throughout the town and seemed to echo around the mountains behind! Magic!
Steph - sometimes I craft sitting - sometimes standing - stand to mat and layer , otherwise not straight , sit to stamp and colour. Stand to use Grand Calibur.
Janet - what your daughter is doing sounds wonderful! I am stressed with my kitchen being in a muddle for 2-3 weeks good job we're all different! Plus she is younger than me! Sure that helps.
Will watch Julia's shows later as Sunday always a bit busy .
Sending love to all friends on the blog , including , Norah, Pam and Robbie, Tandy, Julie Laz, TOB Theresa, Sandra, Tres, Janet, Margaret, Anne, Lynne, Lynda, Sheila, Heather T, Brenda, Wheelybad, Tina E, Ita ,baby Leo and Alison.

Hi Sue and everyone!
Another lovely card and as many already said could be used to many different occasions.Love all the dies etc, have yet to buy some. Was not up to much since Friday, had treatment on neck, shoulder and hands so was watching back to toolshed with you and Julia,it made me happier to see the program again also follow up on the last few blogs.
Yay,Steph you did it Tihi you brave lady! I'm still haven't used my sticky sheets, bought ages ago but thinking of having a go,one day with gilding flakes hmmmm.

Funny and happy honeymoons bring back memories, we had ours in Austria together with our 18 month old son.....lot of walking and pushing even up the Krimml waterfalls :)Solid oak beds so no falling apart only little one waking us every morning early by jumping into bed,he's now 22 and 6'4", no more jumping thank god! Janet- your description of the pastry/pudding sounded yummy! wish I had one but being on "healthy eating" blaaa,an apple will have to do ?? and someones doing the bake off at home, hope they turned out nice.
Wheelybad- hope you pain easing soon, some days can be so horrible.
I have more treatment tomorrow, not looking forward :( Donna- thinking of you, well done for raising the money for Marie cure Many gently hugs Wilsonettes, you are all amazing and not least our lovely Sue !

Had a laugh and loved reading about the honeymoons.
(Us) no proper wedding (picked up two witnesses at the Registrar's). No photos. No honeymoon. Husband went off to work abroad two days later for seven months. Weird, like still being single. But, we didn't need to spend a fortune to make it work (and thank heavens that hen nights had not then been invented) and here we are 43 years later.
Downside, not surprisingly we had no wedding presents and absolutely no-one remembers our anniversary (including him LOL!!)
Signing this Anon as slightly embarrassed at lack of normalness.

Hi Anon.
If its what you both wanted and you took the name that meant the world to you then that's ALL that matters.
Couples these days have the most lavish and expensive weddings these days (some to go 1 better than the last one they went to) but does all the thousands and thousands make a long happy marriage ? NO not always !
So be proud. Not embarrased. Your love remains strong after all these years that's all that matters. Congratulations for still being together xx

Great card today Sue, and yes good for all sorts of occasions.
I'm loving reading all the honeymoon stories, thanks to Lynne for starting them off. Mine was very boring, Saint Lucia, which was gorgeous. Husband collapsed the second day from heat stroke, and I managed to get sea sick which I never had before or after on a day trip, we went on a trimaran, and the crew were eating a fish stew, with fish heads in it, eww still makes my stomach go now just thinking of it.
Janet, we live in a house with no heating, just log burners, and once used to it it's actually not so bad!
Steph, my back won't let me stand to craft, it objects immediately!
Pam, I'm counting down the sleeps for you until Wednesday, just the three now, yay.
Cameeli where are you!
Congratulations to this weeks winners.
Love and hugs to all my friends as always, Lynne, June, Alison, Karen, Linda, Steph, Norah, Pam, Cameeli, Julie and Lee, Margaret, Myra, Tres, Tina, TOB, Janet, and Doreen, send some bake off my way xxx

Hi Steph she showed me the catalogue with the Christmas dies I loved the angel, the peace one and holly accents. It's so nice to be able to see the products and browse as opposed to buying online!

Norah - Puerto Rico. - I did that one in the 80s with Mum and Dad somewhere up three million steps! Not really our kind of place with Whitney wanting to "dance with somebody" and Spagna whoever they were singing " call me" day and night. Must have been summer of 86 or 87 it did have a great lido for swimming but ended up saving a young boy I came across at the bottom of the pool who had drowned! So with Whitney, Spagna, 3 million steps and a drowning a memorable one!

What memories xxx

Hi Sue, a lovely bright card for a very dull day. I am saving this as a template because I can see it being useful for so many occasions.
It has been raining since well before I got up today but it hasn't been cold or windy up to now. Just as dusk is falling (early today because of low cloud) it is getting chilly and I can see a wind getting up so maybe we are going to get the tail end of Bertha after all. I managed to catch some of the Tool Shed earlier but am shortly going to sit and watch it in peace before an early(ish) night.
Congratulations to all of today's winners, enjoy your prizes.
Fingers crossed we will all have a peaceful start to the week tomorrow.
