Let It Snow

Hello everyone!  I know that it has been incredibly pleasant out lately so the last think you probably want to see is snowflakes, but we do have to start thinking about making Christmas cards at some point.  Better sooner than later I say!  Today's card is a really easy stamped layered background and it only uses a single snowflake stamp to create the entire card (with the exception of the sentiment tag).  I selected a piece of teal card and stamped the Justrite Snowflake all over the background using a Clear Perfect Medium pad.  I made sure that I didn't overlap the stamped images and left a bit of open space as well. I heat embossed the images with True White detail embossing powder.  I went back in and stamped the same image, but this time I overlapped the initial images a bit, but also aimed for the more open areas of the background too.  I heat embossed these images with Clear Detail embossing powder.  For the focal image, I stamped the same snowflake on to teal card using a Clear Perfect Medium pad and heat embossed it in white and cut the card into a square.  I edged the card with Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue and gave it a frosty coating of Iced Snow.  I cut a Fleur de Lis die and seated it upon it.  A seam binding messy bow was seated in the corner with my sentiment tucked under a crystal sparkler and two matching stick pins.  I matted and layered the card with a pierced white mat, a thin  teal mat and a final white mat to complete the card.  Finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x 8" in size.

Now for the winner of the Wednesday Card Giveaway.  This week's winner is:

June Smith!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your card.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue and everyone, lovely card today, as always. Congrats to June Smith, I am delighted for you.
It is great being with my brother although he is pretty jet lagged at present. He is really emotional when speaking of Robbie obviously so we are just taking it slowly. Robbie is fighting hard to develop new improvements and has moved one of his big toes himself. The Rehab staff are very pleased with his determination. Thank you everyone for your constant and ongoing support.
Love to Meg and family and baby Leo.
Love and hugs to all my lovely Wilsonettes, you all know who you are and there is enough to go round xx

morning Sue
Teale/white for today's gift - how can you go wrong!!!
One of the most beautiful colour combinations you can get!
A single snowflake and you have the most gorgeous gift and so easy to do if you have to make batch bundles. So all in all today's gift is a really big hit with me.

Congratulations to June Smith for winning the Wednesday Gift Day.

Pam - Just take one step at a time with your Brother. When a child has been injured or has been diagnosed with one of the worst conditions possible we also have to think of the whole family who are suffering also and gentleness together with comfort for them is so so important as they go through every step with their child. Robbie is obviously a fighter and will always do his utmost to improve. Have a really good weekend all of you.

Norah - Haven't as yet come across any Strawberry Martans (I too love Rosemary & Thyme) but we did have a Divorce yesterday!! I had a beautiful Strawberry Tart topped with Cream and Choc bits and of course Mr E had a 'Divorce' which is two balls of choux pastry joined together with butter cream; one side filled with coffee cream and covered with coffee icing and the other filled with choc cream and covered with choc icing. You can imagine some of the comments can't you?

Myra - sorry about sending the rain but if it's any consolation we have got up this morning to dull, wet and miserable weather. This year's see=saw of weather is unbelievable.

I've just had to stop for a minute as a beautiful Buzzard has just flown past the window and landed in the garden by the C.tree. He's just beautiful.
Well going to another Vide Grenier(village sale)this morning so fingers crossed we may spend a little bit more this weekend than we did last.

Hoping everyone is feeling a little better and looking forward to the weekend. Take care and see you tomorrow.

Hi Sue,
Great card, love the colours. I've had a quick look at the last week's cards and I have to say, they were all stunning! I really have missed the blog whilst I've been away! I've also come across your new Christmas dies and absolutely love them.
To all Wilsonettes, it's great to be back! Norfolk was stunning and the weather beautiful until Thursday night. Spent most of the time in Cley, Blakeney, Wells, Titchwell and along the coast and had a lovely time looking at the wildlife. Also went to RSPB reserve at Lakenheath and that was fabulous - saw 5 kingfishers that were only about 4 metres away from us - such beautiful birds. Pam so pleased that you're spending time with your brother, he must need lots of your love and strength at the moment. So pleased to hear Robbie is making progress even if it is only a little bit at a time. Special hugs to both of them and you of course. Tina just had a quick flick through comments to see what has happened. I am so sorry to hear about Max - my thoughts are with you and your family, but at least he's coming home today. My furry animal , Scamp the cat, was all over me like a rash last night when we got in. It was like having a limpet attached to me! Well must go now, I will try to catch up with all of the comments but there are so many, so I will apologise now if I miss anything. I hope you all have a good day and I'm sending extra special hugs to each and every one of you. Love Alison xxx

Nanna Tina I'm so sorry to hear about Max.
Thank you to those of you that sent me kind wishes regarding the sudden loss of my friend. I am still in shock, there has to be a post mortem so my heart goes out to her family.

Hi Sue and all Wilsonettes. Hope you all feel as rested as possible. Well is that our Summer over now ? Ok Sue, I suppose its ok to filter through the odd C. card, but slowely does it as my birthday is near C and I already feel old ! Anyway it's a beautiful card as always, and like one of my Wilsonette sisters has already mentioned, change the stamp and the technique can be used for any occasion. I have a colour quite similar to the teal you have used today, plus a full pack of coconut white, which of course goes with any colour. Id love to have a pack of Aqua and blush card too but the only way is internet as my little shop doesnt stock it and she has to order a minimum amount of stock which she cant afford to do, plus all the other stockists are over the moors and it would cost more in fuel than the 5.00 Id spend on card, so Im in a right dilemma !
Well Im so cross with ink manufactorers, I.really wish they would take into consideration that not all crafters have good working hands and fingers, and give us more to hold than the very thin edge !! My black ink pad slipped straight through my finger's and onto an almost completed card (couldn't do an invisable fix or cover up with flower's or a bow so I just stood and cried (it had taken 3 hour's to make) as my fingers were so bad it took a little longer, I couldn't believe it, almost threw the whole lot up in the air out of sheer frustration. So that's something ELSE I have to think about, when I buy an inkpad, can I hold it, move every bit of card/paper out of harms way before stamping, and put copy paper under my work space for when I drop the pad through such stupid fingers and very unhelpful packaging that holds the ink pad ! Why are the frames SO bleep bleep thin and skanty to hold onto ?! Grrrrr ! : 0
And breath.....
Pam, amazing news about Robbie moving a toe, that HAS to mean something, right ? Your brother has our love and thoughts wjilst life is so hard to understand xx
Well I better send my love and gentle cuddles to those lovely ladies that could do with one today. And remember, tomorrow is another day and there is always someone feeling worse than we do !
Have a safe day everyone.
Congrats to June : )

Love you.
Lancashire Steph xx

Hi Sue,
Really lovely snowflake car today. When I first looked at it I thought the fleur de lys die was a snowflake! It looks so lovely behind the stamped image. The whole card is lovely and I think the dazzler looks like a snowflake too! Maybe I'm just seeing snowflakes everywhere! Beautiful, thank you.
Sheila - hope you have a lovely time with your daughter.
Janet - have a lovely day at the market , Pastries sound yummy!
Steph - I may be mad - but I wondered if it would be possible for you to fix your ink pads to a stamp block or something similar using Velcro strips. It would only need one pad to be set aside for that and velcro on each ink pad base. Just a thought - my heart went out to you when I read about your card. So so annoying! Before I sent this just went to craft room to look at ink pad bottoms and of course they do not have a flat base. I found a wooden stamp which fitted into the base . You may be like me and have some wooden stamps you don't use - maybe worth a try. Sorry to ramble on. Maybe Mr L could cut a piece of wood to size.
Pam - great news about Robbie.
Heather T - take care, sending hugs.
June - congratulations on winning a lovely card.
Love to all,
Myra

Hi
Sorry forgot to say congratulations to June on winning the Wednesday card - you lucky thing! Heather, so sorry to hear about your friend, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Steph, just read your comment and could have cried for you. How frustrating after all that work. I think Myra's tip is an excellent one and worth a try. My hands are ok & I sometimes struggle with the ink pads, so I might give it a go too! Love Alison xxxx

Good morning Sue & friends,
Wow teal & white Christmas, that will stand out on mantle piece! Gorgeous colour combination, that would bring a smile to anyone at Christmas time!
Cameeli, hope you are having an amazing time, look forward to hearing all about your travels!
Janet, could you please start doing a Sun Dance ready for our upcoming holiday, it is pouring down here today, the garden needs it, I on the other hand am trying to 'freshen up' the holiday clothes out of suitcase from last year, (I usually get it all washed and put it back in case as we don't generally need those clothes here) but I am not going to get anything on the line today! Looking forward to a break and some quality family time! Those cakes sound delicious, although I wouldn't want yo tempt date by asking for a divorce!
Pat I hope you enjoyed your card class at Southmoor, seems like forever since our coffee morning! Xx
Sue, hope you are well, how's hubby's hand? What you been up to?
Lynda & Margaret , tank you both so much for your lovely messages you really brightened my day xxxxx
Steph, I know exactly how you must have felt, like you it takes my hours to make a card and the thought of ruining it in the later stages is devastating, I agree about the ink pads, there isn't much to get hold of, I always manage o get it all over my hands!
Big hugs to all of you,

Congratulations June on winning the Wednesday giveaway card.
Have a lovely weekend whatever you're doing, take care, love Brenda xxx

Pam - wonderful news Robbie has been able to move his toe, it's small steps - but he's going in the right direction. Sending gentle hugs to you and your fragile brother take care of each other. Sending Love and prayers to you and all the family.

Steph - I could have cried for you reading about your black ink pad. All that work and effort you had put into your card. Is it worth you trying to take your stamp to the ink pad? Julie Watts does this with large stamps and I've tried it with my youngest granddaughter as her handspun isn't very big and it worked for her.

Morning everyone, oh sorry it is afternoon now, I am back home from spending some time with my family in Birmingham, had a fantastic time but not good internet reception up there so could only make a few word comments on the previous few cards but believe me I love them. Then I log on today to find out that I have won the Wednesday giveaway card, well what can I say but a really BIG thank you, I am honoured and it will take pride of place on my craft room shelf. Thank you to Pam and everyone for your good wishes, I am pleased about Robbie's big toe movement himself, it will be slowly, slowly, but everything little thing is a step in the right direction, oh and I hope your leg is healing. Ask your brother to give Robbie a big hug from me when he sees him, tell him all his friends in the UK are cheering him on. OPK now to todays card, it is so gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, I think if I had one wish in my life time it would be to spend a day with you Sue making cards, oh what heaven. Anyway best get on , stay safe, healthy and happy everyone. June Smith xxx

Beautiful colour combination today sue. Love the two tone stamping on the background. Must get on and make some more Christmas cards, and have a wedding card to make for next Friday, ears, better get busy, but I know I won't get a chance to start on it until after Tuesday.
Pam it's such wonderful news that young Robbie is still able to make small improvements, his body is being good to him and he sounds like he has the strength and determination to push himself, love to your brother too.
Tina, I was so sorry to hear about max, it was lovely you were with him at the end and that you were not left with any horrible decisions to make.
Alison. Glad you had a good time away, big hugs.
Janet please keep this horrible weather over the continent, I know we need it but I got soaked yesterday and also today teaching and have to go out again in it in half an hour. I don't mind the rain so much in winter, but hate having to put waterproofs on when it's so warm.
Steph I could cry for you, the pads slip out of my hands regularly, so tend to take my stamp to the pad wherever possible, perhaps you could make a nice background from your spoilt card? Big hugs
Karen, Margaret, Lynne, linda, Myra, Norah, Sandra, June and all my other Wilsonette family big hugs to you all xx

Hi Sue
Just love the snowflake card, it's gorgeous and I actually have some of the teal card. Must buy some more foundation card while we are in Bournemouth.
Pam, thats fantastic news about Robbie, what a fighter he is. Hugs to you, your brother and Robbie.
Lancs Steph and Norah please try and keep out of mischief you to. I know exactly what you mean about stamp pads, there is never enough of a lip to grab hold off. Norah I'm afraid gnat Sandra doesn't have room in her suitcase as myself and Mrs B will be filling one up. I assume that you are going on the 7th so you'll have to get a wriggle on to fill up your cases, but please remember to leave room for Sue and I. Sound's like an idilic
holiday holiday Sandra, and I'm glad your meds kicked in to let you enjoy it.
Hugs to all in need of one today.

Hiya again. Myra, thank you for your suggestion , I will have to do something to stop this problem as its SO hard to get a proper grip. It starts from me taking off the lid, as my hands are so small and some of my fingers have lost length and feeling, I find I do everything in a clumsey way ! Plus my silly little right index finger (my numb stubby) kinda sticks out LOL and both Mr L and the now Mrs Jackson (nee Miss L) always laugh as they say.I look like im pointing round corners *grins whilst typing this* as I must sound like I belong in a circus LOL, so maybe I should get it 'removed' anyway, thank you to my lovely Sister Wilsonettes that felt for me, I hope Ive now made you laugh with the vision of some witch type, stubby freaky ikkle digit LOL and I will ask Mr L if he has any idea at all if he can 'do' something with my ink pads (I will let you know his answer when he picks himself up) as he has NO idea how many ink pads I have !! : 0 or... Do what Sue does and take the ink to stamp - bUT there is still the problem of holding it to remove the top, change hands to use it bla bla bla.... Sounds like I need a safety net LOL or a manufactorer that can start and adapt these awful awkward ink pads !

Sue - Fancy being the 1st designer of a new stamp pad with a nice thick rim with a rubber grip round the edge for people with dodge hands and fingers ?? Do I feel a patent coming on ?
As for the background idea, by the time I threw it on the floor and screwed it up it wouldnt be fit for owt - just the council paper recycle bin ! Sound like a right royal spoilt brat dont I ?..... Nope, just upset and frustrated

Good afternoon Sue, and all the ladies,
I know I'm repeating myself but this is such a pretty card, and not one mention of Christmas on it, so ideal for someone not of the Christian faith. I have friends of all religions, so this is perfect.
Right - fasten your seat belts because I would like to say you are all such a bunch of amazing woman. It's an honour to be in your club.
Pam, I hope you and Robbie are continuing to improve.
Nanna T - you are in my thoughts.
Alison - the thought of Scamp stuck to you while you go around the house or shops made me laugh
out loud, George came over to see what was so funny!
Heather T - I'm sorry to read about your friend, because they are sometimes closer than family.
Myra P - what a brilliant idea, and I've got some old blocks and Velcro. That's a job for this afternoon.
Lancashire Steph - I know exactly what it's like. My craft room carpet and so many of my trousers have ink pad stains on them.
I had something to say to Sandra and Lynda, but I can't remember what so just have a hug!
Norah - well the same applies to you because you always have so much to comment on, so hugs and I hope the floor is recovering well!!
Julie, use your chair and keep on enjoying life.
Sue - you have an amazing blog which gives so much inspiration and help to so many people - thank you, and I promise not to do such a long post in future xxx

Afternoon Sue, It is amazing what you can do with one stamp and one die (apart from the sentiment haha), and it is also amazing how the snowflake stamp and the fleur de lis die are so similar, they complement perfectly. Congratulations to June, your winning Card is wonderful, enjoy.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

Good afternoon Sue and my fellow wilsonettes,
It's different today Sue your card which is probably what my little brain could do with as i have those impossible people in my life called men you don't like my all singing and dancing cards. I'm not very good at getting the balance between pretty, elegant, sophisticated in with MENS weird and wonderful ideas like a card i made 12 year ago for a work colleague in the shape of a Jack Daniels bottle to the tee, although my work mate loved it.I will work on broadening my horizons though Sue.
Well done June Smith, i hope you enjoy your mini masterpiece that is winging it's way to you, because in real life they are spectacular.
Pam,i'm still going to send hugs to you, Our Robbie for being so brave and determined and his dad for being so brave in trying to be upbeat and encouraging when he is breaking into inside. Him and his wife have had to find the courage off 10 men and a dog to keep their childs spirits up which is so very hard. I hope they continue to find that strength from some where as the weeks and months go on.
Mrs B, i don't mind squeezing in and sharing, i 'm a very share kind of a person. I hope that you are still on the up Sandra as we want you as fit/well as you can be for your holiday with hubby and the twins. I wonder if they get as fed up as being classed as one as i did with Jim. Sorry girls but i have forgotten your names with is bad but the mind goes away on these hikes and forgets to come back.
Janet, i can imagine the comments on the divorce, it reminds me of a choiux bun which now comes with a variety of fillings that didn't used to. But having seen the wording of your entry, i'm awful glad you elaborated quickly on your husbands delight as it could cause a few raised eyebrows. I never get tired seeing wildlife at their greatest, i think being born a country bumkin is to blame for it. Would i change it, well certainly not my start in life but definitely from 22 upwards. I remember we never knew how much eggs were as the farmers wife came with a half dozen and fresh milk. Not that kind that has been zapped like nowadays but as fresh as Mable(the cow) had just delivered in a jug. I think me and HRH Prince Charles have a definite agreement on, real milk. Sorry will try not wander back to times gone bye, but they really were the best for us.
Welcome home Alimecca, i hope that you enjoyed your time away and that you have come home recharged and ready to go.
Rosemarie, as long as it stays in the distance it can rumble as much as it wants.
Oh Heather(crafty) i'm so sorry flower that i didn't see your post on your friend. Sending you some hugs, as it takes some getting over whether expecting or sudden, i'm so very sorry on your loss.
Awh Steph, i'm sorry all your hard work and that is what it is for a lot of us hard work was ruined at the end of it. I thought i was the only one that found difficulty in handling some inks as it goes everywhere. Can i live in hope that it won't take you the 3 hours to redo it.
Sheila, you even the short time that you have with your daughter as the time will fly in much too quick for either of you. Have fun.
What a rotten day here in Glenochil, so windy and wet not even warm so it is definitely a crafting day as hands not behaving today so will steer clear of the inks and messy things like glitter that i can imagine what would happen to my tub and i don't think Tia my 4 legged baby would be too happy either. Sending gentle hugs out to all my blog friends well or not so well, i'm thinking off you all.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Sorry Sue,
Steph had an idea that just might help you grip the top and or the bottom, you know those rubber or silicon thingies that you use to take a lid off and the lid is always too big for your hands anyway at anytime? Hi Sue

Lovely card. I brought this stamp as you've made so many stunning cards with it. I love teal too.

I spent an hour writing a post and the phone wiped it out when I posted while it signed me in. Grrr.

Ok, so as Mr W would like to spend some time with me before bed I gotta be brief.i got till he's finished his cigarette!

Extra special hugs for Baby Leo and family, Pam, Robbie and Family- go Robbie, you're making awesome progress xxx Nanna Tina, Heather and Ita.

Special hugs for Tandy, Sandra, Brenda, Theresa TOB, Julie Laz, Lynda, Maria, Myra, Lindsay, Janet Ecco, Yorkielass June and Lancashire Steph. I've done the same as you plenty of times and had the tantrums to match- Every card I've made has a carefully placed embellishment or end having bits salvaged for the scrap box with the messed up bits in the bin. I invested in slim acrylic blocks a while back as the thicker ones are a pain to try to hold. Worth every penny and I agree on ink pads 100%. I now use the mini ink pads as the size to depth ratio is for me easier to grip. Either that or re positionable spray adhesive on the back of the ink pad onto an acrylic block I find helps. I also now wear latex examination gloves when crafting as they help me grip and I can remove them to have clean hands instantly. I have these at home anyway but they are about £8 for 100 from any chemist. You can get latex free if you are allergic.

My funniest crafty accident happened last week. I went to practice my glue dots on a craft sheet. Squeezed the bottle and no glue, pin down the nozzle, squeeze, no glue. Squeeze with both hands, nozzle flies off and a 12" long thick glob of dark bronze glue across the craft sheet and floor. Glue had congealed in the top of the bottle under the nozzle. Most of Suffolk heard the swearing, which went on the whole time I was cleaning up too!

Crafty hugs to all Wilsonettes especially those who are ill or in pain, wishing you all productive crafting :-)
