Enjoy Your Day

Hello there everyone!  I can't seem to get enough of these roses from the Justrite set called Rose Bouquet.  Here I have selected some decorative paper from my stash (I think it is Graphic 45) and covered it with a piece of sticky adhesive sheet and then micro beaded it for texture.  I wrapped a piece of black seam binding around it and taped the ends to the back.  I tied a messy bow and seated it at the bottom of the card with some twine and a black crystal sparkler.  For the focal element, I used the outer cutting dies from the Spanish Collection die called Seville to cut a frame out of milk card.  I added mounting foam to the back of it to raise it for dimension.  I used the larger die from the frame and cut a flat label shape with it and then used the Floral Brocade Pinpoint embossing folder to emboss the die cut.  I mounted my frame over it and seated it in the middle of my card.  I stamped my sentiment in black and cut it out with the California Collection Decorative Frames Set B. Using Tattered Rose distress ink, I lightly inked the sentiment before removing it from the die.   I added two oval cut mats behind it before adding it to the middle of my card. I stamped the roses and cut them out by hand, taking only some of the leaves with them.  I coloured them with Distress markers and added some foam to the back after shaping them with a ball stylus and foam mat.  I added them to the upper corner of my frame and cut a small black butterfly to add to the other side of the frame.  I finished the card with a pierced milk mat, a thin black mat and a final milk mat.  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size.

Now for the Wednesday Card giveaway drawing to be posted.  This week's winner is:
Baconbits!!!

Congratulations!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your prize.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue and everyone, another beautiful card., lovely. Congrats to Baconbits, lucky girl.
Donna, in my thoughts x
Myra, go for review on Wednesday, hopefully, all will be well and cast will come off but may have to have walking cast or boot, then physio will start. It will be good to be able to walk probably with crutches but better than hopping with frame. Have two very sore callouses on palms of hands . Thank you for asking.
Steph, please take it easy, don't want you to be ill.
Thank you for all the good wishes gor George and Robbie, it means so much, it was sad to see him like that but very understandable that his thoughts are always with Robbie. They are going to have to make so many modifications to get the house suitable for when Robbie leaves hospital and also change the car to accommodate his wheelchair. Lots to think about and do.
Love and hugs to all, Cameeli, hope you got back okay. Xx

Fingers crossed for you Pam for Wednesday.
I stopped my daughter who is now 15 watching a lot of the kids programs as I thought they was not 'educational' just silly but my older daughter who is 30 loved care bears, the raggy dolls, postman pat, I wish they had been around for the younger one I'm not keen on the 'new' versions of the old ones we had as kids.

Hi Sue. Happy Saturday Wilsonettes hope you managed to sleep ok, at least its more comfortable these nights now we've lost the humidity.
Well done Baconbits on being proud owner of Wednesday's card.
I am now back to my normal pink colour after all my breath holding yesterday LOL ! I decided to try and do an improvise of Sue's Guilded Striplet from Thursday's blog. I had the Embroidered Striplet bought for me from Mr L - 35th anniversary gift, so I thought Id give it a whirl, even though it meant confronting 2 of my 'crafting horror's' sticky sheet and flakes, the sheet mainly as it gives no room for error's and with not having use of my right index finger, its really tricky, as you are all aware, once the backing is peeled off, and it slips from your hands, wherever it lands, it stays !!! Yup, oh boy, has that been a tough lesson ! But steady, well sort of - ok, with shaking hands I lay the sheet onto card (holding breath) slowly start to peel back and down, a little more, peel down, cant breath, half way down now, peel down and back a little more, (feeling heart thumping from middle of chest) a bit more..... Yipeee, there, and breaaath ! Sheet on. Mission accomplished (1st part anyway) !!
Now for placing the Striplet background !!! I felt sick LOL if there was ANY time my stupid hands and stubbie 'float in the wind' finger let me down, NOW will be the time !!! I close the door in prearation, shout through to the other room to Mr L " do not talk or breath in my direction" ok here goes nothing ! (holding breath again) I lean over the card with background in hand, is it straight, is it all over in the right place, is it all square.... Lower and ..... Breaaath ! Woooohoooo, I maybe as blue as the colour card Im using (deep midnight blue) but mission control, we have landed LOL !! After that, the flakes are easy as there is no flake and flitter glue required and the flakes have no choice but to behave ! Anyway the card worked out ok, thank goodness.
Today's card is so Sue Wilson, so beautiful and pretty. I adore the frame, so should it be the Seville, butterflies or flowers ? I have wanted a frame for so long and the Grande frame is a little more than I can afford, but the Seville frame is lush.
So yet again, a decision is to be made, along with the new EF's but they will have to wait until after the next market to see if Ive made enough pennies !

Dearest Pam - must have been sad for you to wave your brother goodbye, I hope you start to feel 'settled' soon love, and Robbie is still making tiny movements here and there.
After my epic post I'll leave you in peace !
Donna, in my thoughts all day yesterday xx

to my lovelies that dont feel so lovely just yet, take each hour as it comes and be wise and careful !
Have a lovely day Sue, and the same to my friends and sister Wilsonettes.

Love you.
Lancashire Steph xx

morning Sue
Oh you're teasing me again today Sue with that beautiful rose stamp. Temptation is getting in the way.
I love the composition of today's gift and the focal point but am not yet sure of the background paper - perhaps it's a little too fussy for me. Having said that it's nice to see alternatives and make me think out of my box.

Well my Wilsonette sisters it was a beautiful market day yesterday and the cake shop was a splendid as usual. Mr E was quite boring this week having a beautiful mixed fruit tart while I had the most delicious Raspberry wonder - a pralaine bottom with sponge drenched in Raspberry liquour on top; then Raspberry mousse with the fruit inside finished off with a top coat of Raspberry gel and a piece of white choc. Having eaten that I just had to retire to recover and let Mr E do the pots. He usually wipes as he has more secure hands than I do but last evening he did the whole job lot.

It's the biggest week-end of the year for our local market town starting today with their equivalent of our country fayre. So it's show time for all the cattle to be washed brushed and powdered to compete for awards; the sheep and goats to be shown; horses to be admired and then the small ones bunnies etc. The whole town is also given over to one of the largest Brocante and grenier sale in France(every road whatever size and the large display field closed for any motorised vehicles)there're around 400 stalls. So for me with walking stick at the ready to admire the animals; choosing one line of stalls and then sit with a coffee or two or three While Mr E wanders round the brocante. Tomorrow there are not animals only the brocante etc and I shall be resting all day gathering strength for Tuesday as it's the monthly market and this one will be the last we get to see before we have to leave for the UK on 1st Sept.

Hope everyone is feeling a little better and having a good week-end. Take care and see you tomorrow.

Thanks for all the kind words for yesterday or me and mine. The day went really well. The service was so fitting and wake was alcoholic enough for those who needed it to be. Hi Sue, I really must get this rose stamp set as its so very pretty. Love the background paper, it sets of the roses so well. A totally stunning card. Lol lynne m x x x

Yet another early morning visit to the forest with all of us now having a sleep.

I thought that if I may I would share a story with you all that hopefully if your heart is heavy it may lighten it for a short while.

29 years ago my hubby and I went on our belated honeymoon for a few days in Torquay. Well we arrived late afternoon at the B&B to drop of our case and the first thing ( remember comes in 3's) was that the stairs were so narrow and almost vertical we had to pull ourselves up by grabbing hold of the bannister. Over that hurdle we went out for an evening meal. Upon finishing the meal we were both looking forward to getting back to the B&B for some romance ( toning it down here). Well the earth certainly moved but for all the wrong reason!!!!!!!. We didn't realise that our bedroom was yards away from a railway track and each time a goods train went past the bed would shake so much the mattress would slip taking us both with it. ( number 2). Well the romantic mood was effectively spoiled so it was a case of trying to sleep through the noise and movement. In the
morning we were woken to the sound of loud gurgling , whenever someone in the neighbouring rooms used their sink the water flowed back up into our sink ( number 3) . To say that this was not the romantic getaway we had hoped for was a true understatement. However, I can say that after nearly 30 years of marriage my hubby ( even though he has a blind spot when it comes to his princesses) is the half that makes me whole.

May your day contain laughter and love.
Massive hugs and lol lynne m, Tilly & Cully x x x

Pam - thanks for bringing me up to date . I do hope everything goes well on Wednesday and that you will be able to use crutches and give your sore hands a chance to recover. Sending hugs.

Love to all my friends on here, the ones mentioned above, and Karen, Alison, Margaret, Norah, Cameeli, June, Julie and Lee, Tres, TOB, Tina, Myra, Linda and all those whose names won't come to my stupid brain.
Also well done to Baconbits for winning Wednesdays giveaway.

Good afternoon Sue, and all the ladies.
This is gorgeous, I even like the black seam binding!!! but don't know if I'd be brave enough to use it!
Congrats to Baconbits, lucky thing.
I was at Tynemouth Long Sands yesterday with my daughter and granddaughters so got my feet exfoliated the easy way with the sand between my toes!!! Had a lovely time but boy was I tired last night. Nothing like walking on sand to tire your legs.
Lynne Mills, laughed when I read your belated honeymoon story. We came back from 3 days honeymoon in Edinburgh with 12/6d (62 and 1/2p) so bought a frying pan and some bacon and bread (things were much cheaper in 1966). But when we went to bed in our flat for the first time that night, we realised we only had one pillow so guess who got up the next morning with a crick in the neck, and it wasn't him!!!
I hope everyone has as good a day as possible, and send my prayers to all who are in pain or grieving in any way.
Thank you Sue for your blog and inspiration xx

: ) How funny !

On our wedding night we fell out of bed (sleeping after a busy wedding day) we had moved our belongings from our engagement into a tiny little part furnished flat a few days before our wedding and bought a newbed - of course - but put the matress off the bed from the rented flat under our new one. I had to get on tippy toe just to perch on the edge of the bed (if you imagin the hight of 2 matresses) !! Well when we arrived at our little flat we were pooped, at around 2am I rolled onto my side onto the uneven edge of the matresses - oh nooo... But as newly weds and wanting to share everything with my new husband, I was NOT hitting the deck on my own, so.when I realised what was about to happen I grabbed onto Mr L who promptly followed me on the long way down to the floor. That was hard to explain and to make ourselves believed !
Part 2 ... I got heatstroke on Sandbanks beautiful beach after falling asleep. But as people waljed past us they were flicking sand up off their feet or footwear, so not only was I as red as any craft card you can buy, I was all patchy all down my legs ! Consequently that night I was so unwell my new poor husband had to go down to dinner alone leaving other guests to 'speculate' and me almost shivering myself out of bed LOL. Honeymoon's ay Lyn ? LOL.

Hi Sue, love the roses, dies and embossing, just not sure about the rest of it. I must have bad craft brain this week because I so seldom dislike anything you do and this is the second or third time this week. Maybe next week I will return to normal :-)

Donna G, so glad yesterday went well for you and what a generous gesture to raise money for Marie Curie at such a sad time.

Lynne, you really made me laugh with your honeymoon story, at least you were together; my husband and I spent our first married night in separate bunks on the overnight sleeper from London to Scotland.

Baconbits, congratulations on being the Wednesday winner.

I do hope your brother has arrived back safely, they have a long road ahead of them but where there is a will there is a way and I am sure they will succeed.

Hi Sue

Today's card took a long viewing, I think it's because I don't often see backing papers on your cards! A heck if a lot of work went into it though and once I got used to seeing the rather lovely backing paper I rather enjoyed the effect. I like to mix my stash and it's funny how the stamp and the lapers match so well. The stamp is one of the next on the list. Only a week or so to wait before I order :-)

Inspection went well, thanks in no small part to Billy who charmed his way into the inspectors heart! Been a busy week and with the heat as well I was finished by yesterday evening. Slept most of today too but still tired and hurting so should sleep tonight too, fingers crossed! Need to be ok to meet my Dad and Stepmum for tea tomorrow. May not post as a result because I'd like to have all my energy for those couple of hours. Back been very painful all week, discovered injections have not made travelling easier yet. Just over 3 weeks now and still bruised, only avantage has been being able to sit up easier, which is a good one for me. The new cramping in my legs, more numbess and a change from one type of back pain for another I'm less pleased with. Still hoping for improvement but getting nearer that 4 week marker. Have to see GP about a hand injury that isn't improving anyway so will ask him about it. Don't think heat helps as have been quite swollen and sure generally plus I'm sure they said they can play with amounts of stuff they injected into me if things don't improve so room for adjustment. Have to save my "spoons" as I enjoy seeing Dad & Stepmum.

Thoughts with both Donna and Heather xxx

Steph, well done! I too was holding my breath reading your post! I'm glad you succeeded and hope you'll do more cards like that. Celebratory hugs!

Pam, hope your brother got home safe. Hugs for him and Robbie. Hugs for you too. Hope that cast comes off next week, hopeful hugs x

Glenharon said...

Good morning Sue and my fellow Wilsonettes,
Love the top of the card in the white and with the beautiful roses, but just can't get to grips with the paper underneath or the thick black bow. I do not know how i missed the black banner across yesterdays card, it must have been my brain blocking out that bit. The touch of black under the tag and the thin mat of black under the white mat is just nice giving that wee pop. I can see why you love the stamp as it is so pretty with the detail in it.
Pam, my doctor told me to get those gel pads for the balls of your feet and stick them to my sticks and it makes life a lot more comfortable. I think cutting up a gel in sole in half and wrapping it around the bar of the frame or crutches might give you some relief or a thick piece of memory foam, just an idea that could help you endure your remaining time. There is something called "facetime" that you can do on computers of all sorts. Perhaps George could take the laptop or tablet to Robbie's bed and you could talk to him and see him as well, it could give him an added boost and perhaps give you the same.
Well done Baconbits, you are in for a treat.
Sending you hugs and wee prayers Donna, i know you would probably be numb yesterday, but we are here for you if you need us. I am glad that such a wonderful sum was raised for very special people as they do bring in a lot of care to all not just their client. Well done to your son for his magnificent effort and thoughtfulness.
Nanna Tina, they seem to have babyized the programs with stupid voices making weird sounds. I know when i talk to a baby it is proper words i use and not goo goo, ga ga or equally obnoxious sounds. I once watched The Magic Roundabout with my son when it came back “new and improved”, once was more than enough as it had lost all the magic of those early years. Their updated versions are not a patch on the old ones.
Heather(Cr@fty), a real friend can take out of us what our so called families leave behind. A real friend is so very hard to find and impossible to replace, but I am so glad that you had the time you did with your friend as they will stay in your heart and memories forever, I’m just sorry you have lost that special person. Remember as long as they are held onto by our heads and hearts they can never truly leave us and that is a priceless gift. Hugs to you flower and sending a wee prayer up for you too.
Part 1

Glenharon said...

Well done Steph on conquering the dreaded double sided sticky paper AND the gilding flakes, you are on a roll flower. I hope that this has given your ego a well deserved boost and you can now hopefully not be so terrified the next time as you can do it, you just need a wee bit faith in yourself.
Glad you found your ebosser instructions Clare, panic stations over with but isn’t that just typical, we hunt high and low and they turn out to be in a place we would never have looking in.
Janet(Ecco) I would have been jiggered as well at all those stalls and that’s just looking at the vast array of sellers. What a different way of life it must be for you in Burgundy compared to across home here. I used to love going to the local markets where ever I went as it was so fascinating watching all the goings on and how the prices went up and down depending on how good a buyer you were. I think I would dread the return home after the time in tranquillity. Hope you had a lovely day with Mr E and you are right, his delight today was boring compared to being divorced last week.
Hi Julie, I hope you are feeling better these days and you and Lee are getting out more. With a scooter he can walk beside you and you can have a better day. Sending love to you both.
Lynne, I am so glad to see that even after all these years your hubby still makes the earth move for you literally. Nice to see Princess Tilly and Princess Cully retiring to their bed chamber to give mum a break. Hugs.
Started this this morning but just so tired today as hubby has been shouting “Norah” all day to do this and that and hold the window up in place to the point my back has gave in entirely, so I will see you all tomorrow hopefully,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)
