Creative Expressions August 2014 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Creative Expressions August 2014 Blog Hop! These new Christmas designs from the Singles Range at Creative Expressions, include seven different stamps. As you will see from the samples made for the Blog Hop, they do not just have to be used as they are but can be altered and interchanged to give lots of different options.

One randomly selected person commenting on this blog post before the blog hop closing date will win the following fabulous prize, which includes some of the new stamp designs.

For my project, I used the new Creative Expressions Merry Christmas pre-cut stamp.  I decided to split it apart so I stamped it twice using a black archival ink pad on to milk card.  The "Merry was easy to cut apart as it has a straight line box around it.  The second time I stamped it though, I masked it by covering the "Merry" with tape, inked the stamp and quickly removed the tape before stamping so just the "Christmas" was stamped by itself.  I cut it out with the Radiant Rectangle die and inked it with Antique Linen before removing it.  I cut another in black to use as shadow behind it.  I created a background for my card by inking my embossing folder with Clear Perfect Medium.  I ran a piece of milk card through and transferred the ink to it.  I dusted it with Angel Gold Sparkle pigment for a soft shimmery glow.  I added my "Merry" and "Christmas" elements to the background with mounting foam and added 3mm cream pearls to the background design around them.  I made two small poinsettias and added them to the side of the "Merry" block.  A holly Spray in black was cut and tucked underneath it.  I made two more larger poinsettias and added them to the side of my card with some black tulle and several more holly sprays.  Each of the holly sprays have had Iced Snow added to the leaves as well.  I finished the card with a pierced mat layer of milk card, then a thin black mat with a final mat of milk card.  The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/4" in size.

Thank you for visiting my blog, please leave a comment below in order to be in with a chance of winning a prize!

Hi Sue

Lovely card, I like monochrome a lot. Making me want to make Christmas cards! Blog hops are such fun so I'm glad I'm back today almost fighting fit! Very short on energy so keeping it light today so I can manage to 'hop!'. Back very sore so with disappointment I'll be calling the hospital Monday- still bruised too! Hopefully they'll know why it's gone the way it has.

But today I was guarenteed to feel better, my cut glass striplet arrived today and it's my 'pocket money day!' I have a set day when I put aside a bit every month for my crafty needs. Have some stamps I need to order and probably a die. Just in time for Julias shows tomorrow to add to the list! Must keep a bit of it aside for something else but that's a tale for another day!

Anyhoo's welcome to all the new Wilsonettes and hugs for Cheryl Brown. I'll be thinking of you too. Norah, those forms are a killer, I don't know whether you have any disability advocacy organisations or disabled advice bureau near you as they both can help with form filling. I do as many as possible on the computer with voice recognition software but a lot of these new ones are in paper form. Local carers group gave Mr WheelyBad details of advocacy service near to me for my next lot in October. Does depend on locality but may be worth a search for next time.

Have much to catch up on here so I must get on. Special hugs for Sue, who inspires us all so much, Pam & Robbie, Lancashire Steph, Norah, Lynda, Yorkielass June, Myra, Maria, Janet Ecco, Lindsay Martin, Theresa TOB, Heather, Julie Laz, anyone I forgot, all the International Wilsonettes- I love seeing all the names and different countries and extra special hugs if you are ill or in any sort of pain. Crafting is the best medicine :-)

So much for quick/ short! Have a lovely day everybody!

Maureen, will do although don't often go to Newcastle on my own and only tend to go for a couple of hours when my friends and I fancy a shop! Lynne I really do believe that animals know EXACTLY what they are doing and which buttons to push! Norah, pleased you're back but sorry you haven't been well, have a couple of days relaxing if you can. Hope everyone is ok and sending love and hugs to all who need/ want them. Off to hop now. Love Alison xxxx

Hi, Sue, I'd already seen these new stamps on the Sunrise Crafts website, but seeing how they've been used by everyone on the Blog Hop is fantastic.

I've taped all of Julia's shows today, for all the inspiration from everyone.

I know several bloggers have already asked about the embossing folder that you've used on today's card. It's so neat and a very simple design, but looks lovely with all the little pearls on the flowers. Lovely !!

Welcome back Nora x

What a surprise! I was expecting Christmas but just your dies so it will be nice to hop up and down! I could do with the exercise. Have pre- ordered the poinsettias ! I just love all your flower dies. I didn't think I would like the card in monochrome but I do. Thanks again Sue.
Cheryl - so sorry to hear about the diagnosis - sending love and very best wishes to you. Praying you will get through this very soon.
Norah - you're back! I missed you . So sorry you been unwell - hope you back on track very soon! Belated happy Birthday to Rory - he sounds a really lovely lad.
Barbiepinkfairy - I remember the Navada - we moved to Bolton - Lostock - in the late 70's . Remember the fire. We left Bolton in 1984 but still in Lancs. So like Steph I was in incomer !
Steph - I was in the same position as you when Julia had trouble on her blog but I got a google acc. I don't have a blog or anything but found that easy to set up. Go for it! You can do it. Hope you feeling better today!
Janet - how come I'm putting on weight just thinking about your pastries? Hope you had a good day!
Sending love to all friends on the blog! Mind you don't know if anyone will read this ad its so very late!

The black and white is most striking. What fun having a blog hop, a really great way to introduce us to other bloggers. Now I have a question for other blog followere s in the US. I have been thinking about opening a small craft section in my shop and have been talking with Creative Expressions about this. So, before I go to the expense of setting up an account and bringing Sues wonderful dies here, I need to assess the level of interest. If anyone out there is interested in my doing this, please contact me at either this address or my work email: feyoung@midmaine.com I look forward to hearing from you! Happy crafting

Stunning but then I wouldn't expect anything less from you Sue. I'm hoping that by the time the blog hop has finished I'll be so inspired I'll want to get on with my Christmas cards. It's more important than ever this year as my nephew gets married on the 20th of December in the Midlands, fingers crossed the weather wont be too bad, for the drive up from Cornwall. My sister wants me to help with the wedding cake, that means going up a week before. So all the cards, any presents I'm making, the Christmas cakes, pudding and mincemeat must be made and given out before we go. After last years fiasco, I didn't post my cards till Christmas eve and I was up all night wrapping presents and decorating the dining room till 8am xmas morning. I'm starting to get worried, especially as I've been so busy making their invitations to even think about starting, so I'll be grateful for some effective quick cards.

Wow!!! The multitude of dies that are used on this card is mind-boggling. I stopped counting after five. Gorgeous card -- thanks for sharing.

I love that you have only used two colours. These colours can easily be changed and the card would look just as good. Lovely. Sarah H Clark.

Absolutely stunning monochromatic card Sue, and great idea to split the stamp, it gives more options when stamping.

Beautifu, poinsettias too, definitely a set I'd love if I had the budget!!

Wishing you much success with all your new dies.
