Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway/ It's A Two- Fer

Hello all!  I have a double card giveaway today.  Since I am no longer doing any of the Heartfelt Creations shows, I thought I would offer up a couple of the cards for the giveaway this week (and maybe next week too!)  We have one white and one black card, just for a bit of variety!  For the background of the first card, I stamped the Majestic Morning flowers all over using a Clear Perfect Medium.  I heat embossed them with white detail embossing powder for a tone on tone look.  In the centre of the card, I cut a Stately Circle die, giving me an aperture to use.  I added mounting foam to the back to raise it for dimension.  I added it to a thin periwinkle blue mat.  The Stately Circle cut earlier was recessed back down into the aperture, showing the blue card through the cut outs.  I stamped a sentiment from the Creative Expressions stamp set called Nature's Sentiments and cut it out with a smaller die from that set and added it in the centre.  I stamped the Majestic Morning flowers in black onto periwinkle card and cut them out with the matching die.  I added black glitter to the edges of each of the petals after assembling each of the flowers.  I tied a messy bow out of black seam binding, added some white tulle and pearl strings and seated the largest flower on it.  I added a few more flowers on the opposite side of the sentiment.  I made a stick pin using beads from my craft stash and added it to my bow.  I finished this card with a double white pierced mat layer.  Finished dimensions are
7 1/4" x 8 1/4" in size.  Scroll down to see the second card on offer.

Card no. two for today's giveaway.  This one was a demo during my last Heartfelt Creations shows in January.  I started with a piece of black card and stamped the background using a Clear Perfect Medium pad.  I heat embossed it with gold.  Using mica powders, I made a paint by adding some water and coloured all the flowers with it.  Mica powders really pop against black card, giving a cloisonne look to them.    I used a small circle die to cut the opening in the background area.  I masked some of the vines on the stamp and stamped the sentiment and cut it into a strip.  I tucked the end into the opening and gave it a bit of dimension.  I made a scrunched flower using the Majestic blooms cut out of lavender card.  I added the flower with a black jute bow to the corner of the sentiment strip.  I matted the background with a thin lavender mat, then added a black mat edged in Midnight Snow before finishing with a double gold pierced mat layer.  Finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x 7 1/2" in size.

If you would like a chance to win either of these cards, please leave a comment on today's blog post.  The winners will be drawn and announced on Saturday's blog post.

A couple of quick announcement to make too today.  Firstly, Julia Watt's showtimes have been changed for today.  They are now 10am and 1pm today so don't forget  to tune in and set your recorders!

The other thing that I wanted to say was a great big thank you for everyone that took the time to go vote for Nick!  Although the outcome wasn't what we had hoped for as C & C cancelled the competition before it ended.  While Nick does maintain an address in the UK and C & C emailed him to say that that was fine, there were others that complained, so they decided to just cancel it.  So many of you have emailed me about sending donations directly to Nick to help with his club and that is fabulous, but it is very expensive to ship to Bulgaria.  I know this first hand as I sent him a parcel last month.  He would be grateful for any donations and has said that I can even give out his address, you just need to email me.  Someone else suggested doing a donation in the form of vouchers for Joanna Sheen's website as she ships internationally for free.  I think that would be a better way to go and probably less expensive in the long run if you would like to help out.  Nick would even be able to pick out the consumable items that he needs the most for his craft club too that way.  He was so overwhelmed at the response from everyone and is just humbled and pleased that so many people want to help.  I told him that my blog family is like that!  (I am such a proud Mom!)  All for now,
Sue x

We all like two-fers, Sue! You are so generous. Both really lovely cards, the first so frou-frou and like a fancy garter and the second so artistic with the painted mica powders.
When you showed the Farewell to Heartfelt Creations silver card earlier this month - loved it so much that, yes, I did buy the Majestic Blooms stamp and die and am so pleased I did.
Shame about the comp, it ended by back-firing on everyone, such a pity. However, suspect Nick may get a minor deluge of goodies now so that IS a result.

It's very sad that somebody complained about Nick when all he was doing is trying to help people. Like I said when you first said about C&C not letting him enter the competition I'm not surprised.

I would be honoured to help out Nick, who seems to be doing a sterling job in Bulgaria. Could you explain what we do please, Sue ??
Looking forward to Julia's shows today.

GM Sue - love both of these cards and really love that flower die and matching stamps - another fave! Did painting with mica for the first time last week using the VL7 stamp with hygrangeas and stripes on and wow - really effective - and not difficult either.

Tres - thanks for your AP tips yday - yes I have a ticket so no queuing to get in! Showed hubby photo on the show website and he thought the queue looked akin to what you see on the X Factor with all the barricades herding the crowd - that will be a good miss then!

Either of today's gift would be more than welcomed into my crafting family and have a beautiful room for their own.

Both cards are lovely and its a shame that you're no longer doing HC projects anymore. Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
Both beautiful Sue but i think number one wins it for me today, but i don't want to be put in the draw Sue as i would like everyone else to have that chance please. I will be contacting you for Nicks address as every little bit we can do to help him, helps our future wee crafters that want to learn and want to enjoy themselves as crafting is more about enjoying creating. But i'm being thicker than normal today, why couldn't Nick win it if he has a UK address and why is someone so spiteful to complain about it when he has the "legal requirements" a UK address. Miserable sods, they have successfully denied a group of kiddies the fun of crafting. Is it because Nick was getting all the votes and they were way down the line in their voting camp, as i say miserable selfish greedy horrible person.
I like Sandy G won last year just 2 days before my birthday a piece of jewelery that Sarah, Beaders Companion had made during the show and i am still waiting as we speak for it to come. Contacting C&C via email only resulted in a standard email back saying that they were looking in to it. Still waiting for them to get back to me even after a phone call about something that hadn't been delivered and telling the lady in what ever land they were in about it, nothing so i don't email into the shows any more.
Off my soap box now from a really nice morning up here and my Ochils sitting dreamily in front of me i wish you all have a great day if you can and my thoughts, hugs and prayers with our family that are truly going through the mill at the moment.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue,
Great to have a two- fer today. Both cards are stunning and gorgeous, but I think I prefer the first one. It would be a pleasure to own either of them Am I being greedy hoping that I win one after winning on the comment game last week! Sorry that C&C cancelled the competition - can't really see what the issue was if Nick has a UK address as well. Some people just like to spoil things for others I feel. Anyway the Joanna Sheen vouchers seem like a great idea. Do we get them and post to him or is there going to be a central point to send them to? For those who didn't see my second post yesterday, can I say a big thank you for all the kind messages and good wishes following my fall on Monday ( & hubby's too! ). Morning Sue and all the Wilsonettes, wow, two giveaways today,we are so spoilt, fingers crossed for us all. Well as for the C&C debacle I'm sure Nick will be so much better off with JS vouchers, the prize from C&C was probably all old stock that doesn't sell, at least this way he can choose items that will be of the most use for the children in his craft group. I think if there was a central collection it would be great, not sure if it can be done on the website or if we all donated to one place so the money could be collected together, perhaps if someone could have a word with JS about this it would be great as he could dip into the balance whenever needed, hope that all makes sense.
Glad everyone is on the mend today, both physically and emotionally thinking of you all xxxx

Good morning Sue,
Love both of these cards, the second one really sings to me, love the way you have coloured the flowers with Mica.
I would be so happy to be entrusted with the care of either of these cards.
I'm off shopping now but will email you later about vouchers for Nick
Have a good day, love Brenda xxx

Nora - your comments today really made me smile big-time. I love it when you tell us about your Ochills, it reminds me of my childhood when we went to Glengarriff Co.Cork to visit our grandmother she had a road in front of her house - on the other side of the road and beyond there where mountains (very big hills) such happy memories.
Alison - take it steady and avoid any Mike Tysons!!!

Hello Sue
I love both of your cards today and would be over the moon to win either one. The blue flowers on Card number one are beautiful with the lacy background look to it.
Wish I could join everybody at Alexandra Palace but I am unable to go this year. Many years ago I lived fairly close so used to go there regularly.
So happy to have confirmation I was a lucky winner of the comment game last week, thank you so much for your generosity, Sue.

Good morning Sue and everyone. Such beautiful cards to set off a lovely morning here in Edinburgh.

I am frankly astonished that people complained and that C&C cancelled the competition. I would be intrigued to understand on what grounds they made this decision they have customers/members all over the world who are surely entitled to take part.

The idea of providing vouchers for Joanne's site it an excellent one and I will email you separately.

Many thanks again

Hi Sue
Two beautiful cards today. I especially like the black one as I actually have the last one. love how you have added dimension by doing the happy birthday separately. I also like how you have added a black rim round the outside of the flowers on the outside. Anyone would be over the moon to win one of your cards Sue. By looking at your blog Sue, you would have thought that crafty people were a caring and sharing lot. But not apparently the ones who enter a C & C competition. They must have been jealous of all the votes he was getting. How narrow minded are some people, and this was for such a good cause as well. Hugs today for everyone who needs one today.

Unknown said...

Morning Sue - I love both of these cards but I think the black one is my favourite. I'm sure I could find a home for one of them

Well C&C have done it again. It is a shame there isn't another craft channel as their Customer Service is never the best. I do think Nick will be better off with JS vouchers. All the presenters are more than happy to read out Nck's E Mails.

Would love to go to Ally Pally but unfortunately due to ill health I cannot stand for too long so shows are a no no now for me. Hope everyone has a great time and enjoys spending lots.

Hi Momma and all lovely sisters here today : )
I'll take all the hugs you all give today, thank you so much, I hurt bad today, who would think making invites would make a persons body scream out this much - pathetic woman ! And still not finished ! Tina, I dont know how you managed with all of your wedding stationary etc for Clare my hat goes off to you, and Pam, a fulltime job too, phew !
I too am sorry you will no longer be showing HC stamps Mom, as they are something I never got round to adding to my small craft collection, you work wonders and I adore ALL you do xx
Two beautiful cards today, they have brightened my day Sue thank you and I shall have 2 very lucky sisters by Saturday : )
Nick WILL come out on top after all this competition craziness Im sure, I for one will send a JS gift voucher, it wont be much, I just hope that put together with other vouchers he will be able to chose what he wants that will be most useful and helpful to him and his budding future crafters.
Good on ya Nick, we will stand by you as much as we can xx
Poor Julia sounds all full of cold today, bless her.
Im going to have to go and move around before my bones seize up for the day.
Sending sisterly hugs to all and a BIG hug to our Momma : )
Love you all.

Hope lots of people can spare a little to donate via Joanna's place.

TWO beautiful cards today Sue. Lovely to have the chance to win either. Could I just say how mean spirited people are to complain re. Nick entering the competition. Well they have lost the chance for anyone to win now As an expat myself I understand you recommending Joanna Sheen's site. I buy a lot of my crafty items from her because there are others who want exorbitant amounts of money for the smallest item. If lovely Joanna can manage it why can't others? I have to say there are some who charge a reasonable postage as well, Creative Crafting World to name just one. Gripe over!! Loved Julia's show by the way. Loved the new paints. Ann (France)

HI Sue,
Two lovely cards today, would love to win either one. Love your color combinations. I like how you always do the pierce borders, so I have tried doing them, not as nice as yours, suppose because my cards are not as big as yours, most of my cards are A2 size, but made 5x7 size to do the border.
Thanks Suefor all the lovely cards and videos, sure are helpful.

Hi Sue
Hi Everyone,
I love both of today's cards but the second one just edges it! It is really like cloisonné . I'm sure lots of people would find it hard to believe that it is made by stamping! The mica powders are gorgeous - but it is your talent Sue, which shines through!
My ivory embossing powder arrived today!
So sorry about Nick and the Competition, however ,this way he will chose what he actually needs/ likes and he doesn't get masses of stuff arriving at once!
C&C does itself no favours sometimes, but they need to understand "people power" particularly when you add what seems like injustice to the mix. This is a super Blog - have said it before - but it's so true!
Children need to be encouraged to do more than play computer games!
Sending love to all who are suffering today. Sorry but the synchronised hobbling did make me laugh.
I can't help leaving a comment! Sorry ! However as I won two weeks ago do not wish to be entered in Draw.
Love to all crafting friends,
Myra

I will definitely do the voucher idea for Nick I will email you for his address I'm disappointed re comp for him but it did make me angry that they were offering such a big prize to only those with the machine compared to the other comp I saw Sorry to moan but I just thought it was unfair in the first place

Hi Sue, what stunning cards today, I particularly like the first one and would ADORE walking up and down the road, into shops and stopping at bus stops showing people my WIN from the one and only Sue Wilson. I like others love the quality of the stamps and dies and will be sorry not to see you using them again.

As for C & C I am disgusted by them and in particular the person or people who complained. Wonder if C & C would be so quick to stop taking product orders from Nick. Don't think so. Who would prevent
a child from having the chance to learn and appreciate something new. Unless you have been in some of the poorer parts of these countries you would not realise what a difference it would make to a child. When I was in Romania with my job, the children were so poor that they stood and watched people eat in the hope that they dropped a bit, I bet they never had any chance of crafting.

You know Sue your Wilsonettes are really Angels in disguise, willing to help anyone in trouble or hurting. We are lucky to be part of your family.
Sorry rant over.
Will be in touch re voucher.

Hello Sue. Well, it looks as if Nick is going to win out in the end which is wonderful. Silly C&C - the number of times they get it wrong is amazing. However, it is fun to be able to watch the fabulous demonstrations all day if time only allowed. Hi Sue,
Two beautiful cards , can't decide between them they are both stunning the mica paint really shines , I bet they're even more stunning in person ( you know what I mean ) .

I agree with everything that's been said about C&C and the Nick saga . Just a thought wouldn't it work out more cost effective for Joanna to collect all the donations for Nick and send the vouchers in a bulk post or have a kitty held there for him ? She could give a date for the donations to be collected by giving everyone time if they wish to donate. Hope this makes sense .

So sorry for everyone that is sad or hurting, we certainly seem to be a bit accident prone. Crafty hugs to you all.

I think the idea for Joanna to have a 'pot' for Nick is an excellent one. I know she is a very busy lady but it would save her having to send out loads and loads of vouchers and I am sure Richard could come up with a way of letting us donate.

I'll be back again tomorrow as long as I don't lose it somewhere first :)
