Wednesday Weekly Card Giveaway

Hello all!  Another Wednesday has rolled around and time again for a card giveaway.  Today's card features my Paved Pearl technique, which, it seems, I haven't done in ages so thought it might be a nice choice.  I started with a piece of coconut white card and the Tufted background stamp by Justrite.  I "inked" the stamp with Flake and Glitter glue by dabbing it with some glue added to a piece of cut 'n dry foam.  Once the stamp was completely covered (it will have a bit of a bluish white look to it), I stamped it by bringing the card to the top of the stamp and pressing over it with my hand.  Two reasons for this, first it is far easier to do this method with larger stamps and you are certain that all the areas come in contact with your card.  Secondly, when using Flake and Glitter glue, you do not want to linger too long, after all it is a glue and your card will stick to the stamp if you do.  This method is actually a much quicker way to stamp.  Peel the card off of the stamp and set it to the side so the glue has time to turn clear (this means it is ready to go) and you must clean the glue off of your stamp.  I usually will use a Grime Boss to wipe it down or run it under the tap with a small nail brush to get into the detailed areas.  Either method works fine, just don't forget to remove the glue or it will damage your stamp.  Next I covered the image with Calypso Gilding Flakes and used a piece of Rubit Scrubit Pad by Ranger to refine the flakes and remove the excess.   I trimmed the background and matted it with another piece of white card.  I cut a Vintage Labels Seven out of white card and added two Filigree Flourish dies (by Becca Feeken), one top, one bottom across the centre.  It is lovely that the centre of the background stamp has the same shape to it so it does look like I have a gilded faux nestie already. I stamped my sentiment from the Friendship Vintage Labels set by Justrite and embossed it in gold detail powder.  I cut it out with the smallest Vintage Labels Seven and added Iced Snow to the edge.  I seated this in the centre of the two filigree flourishes.  Using my Classic Rose dies, I gilded some card and cut out enough dies to make two different sized roses and assembled them according to the same tutorial at the top of my blog (it was done when I had to use stamps for the flower).  I added them with some white tulle and gold cording at the side of my focal element.  I added a wide white mat with a thinner white bottom mat.  On the wide part, I added my paved pearls using the Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue dots.  You can check out the tutorial at the top of the blog to see how it is done in more detail.  If you would like to be entered in the drawing for this card, just leave a comment on the blog post and I will draw a name and announce it on Saturday's post.  The finished dimensions are 6 1/4" x 7 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Morning Sue and Wilsonettes. Dearest Pam I did wonder when i didnt see you if that was the day you kissed Tim goodnight so my heart lay heavy for you and your family. There are no words to say that will make it any easier to understand life and all the cruel things it throws at us, you have Sue and all of us here to help hold you close and hope that can help just a little. Sending you love and cuddles.
My day yesterday seems totally easy compared to what our Pam and other friends here have to go through but it was horrible. It was hair and make up trial yesterday in Yorkshire (im in Lancs) 45min from my daughter. Her appointment was an hour away from her home. I have to have an infusion which lasts an hour (tuesday only) 8 weeks apart. Yesterday was the day ! Thinking I had to be at my daughters home at 11am thought if I go to the hospital for 8.30 I can get to Yorks for plenty of time ! Her apt was 11 and wanted me at her house for 10am !!! No way could I manage that. After a frantic call to my nurse explaining all, it was a case of try and get here if you can before 4.30 (id kept all this from our daughter as she was already stressed thinking she'd finish out looking like a mix of Worzal Gumage and Aunt Sally) so I couldnt add anymore stress to her ! We all got done earlier than expected so after a quick kiss for my daughter when we returned to her house I dashed back to Lancs driving over the highest motorway the rain clouds burst and visability down to almost zero and speed of 30mph !! Panic set in. I eventually got to the hospital and drove round for 20mis looking to park !
I eventually got back home at 5.30. I was totally shattered, and immediatly dozed off, had dinner and dozed all night ! Hense Id had a quick peek at yesterdays card and it was a stunner, really beautiful. I have NO idea at what point In the day I found time to look as now it all seems like a whirlwind but I remember thinking 'thank you for bringing me 5 seconds of peace today Sue'
And again you have given us beauty in Wednesdays card, thank you. It will be a lucky family member than gets chosen to receive this.W.O.W.
Sending all Wilsonettes friendly cuddles and gentle hugs today.
Apologies for my diary !!

Lancashire Steph xx
ps - no Worzal Gumage or Aunt Sally, just a beautiful bride to be : )

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
What a beautiful card again today that looks so delicate and yet it isn't. The gilded roses have some off the most beautiful colours in it Sue. Yes this weeks winner will be a very lucky person indeed. I could probably do the pave pearl technique as mines always comes out all different sizes as a norm anyway.
Oh boy what did i say about people and hugs, well yesterday i had to go into town and was really not feeling like it at all but i couldn't let my friend down as she is really down because she is ill at the moment and she gets cheered up fit to face another week after seeing me(Not sure how that works like). She too is having to go through those infusions at the hospital amongst other things just to try and build her back up for an operation that she is not looking forward to. The lady in the Shopmobility seen the state of me as it had taken 3 turns of the traffic lights just to cross the road. As i said i didn't like to bother her in getting a scooter brought across to the car park. By this time i was for dropping and the sticks would not have been able to stop me that's for sure. Well did i not meet my cousins' children which was lovely until their father decided to scare me half to death by coming up behind me and thumping me on the back after squeezing my shoulders. Boy i thought i was going to hit the top of the Marches in Stirling, i got that much of a fright and pains shooting everywhere. Big galoot doesn't realise just how strong he is or where not to hit when meeting. Of course my MST tablets amongst others was just not working at all yesterday, either that or i needed a stronger dose because i was gowping. I didn't get anywhere near the amount of things done that our Steph did yesterday but i can understand just how jiggered she is today. Steph a quiet day in on the sofa is warranted today me thinks. Note to self - just cancel next time.
Well we are having a cloud race today up here at the Ochils so as long as the sun is shining and the rain keeps away we will be lucky today. Have a lovely day if you can and if not tomorrow will be better. Remember the sun doesn't need to be in the sky to have a lovely day, it can be with made with the special people that are there for you or a stranger saying hello and a smile.
Take care everyone and i hope to see you tomorrow,
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Especially for you Pam, remember friends are the family we choose for ourselves and that special family is here for you always. Take care flower, you will slowly lose that numb feeling and begin to live again, but we are here whenever you need us. Sending you special healing hugs. x

You are in my thoughts Pam little by little you will learn to live with your loss, there is a reason for everything although you may never get to know the reason. We are here when you need us you will never be alone, God Bless xx
Steph you may have had a marathon of a day but well worth it, your daughter will be happy and you know your hair will be lovely for the big day. When my eldest daughter was getting married we did the same thing luckily, what a dreadful mess! I looked as if I had been pulled through a hedge backwards and she had her hair pinned up it was almost 2 feet high, looked awful. When we got to the car she didn't know how to get in her hair was so high. So we had a re- run with another hairdresser and success. Do have a rest today you have earned one. Norah I think you too have earned a rest. Take care Tina and anyone who is finding life a struggle at present.

Morning sue what a stunning card. I love the style colours and it is so elegant. I am waiting on your flake and glitter glue and felt coming from Joanna Sheen so although I dont have the same background stamp I will try something similar.

To all the ladies who are in pain all I can say is "well done you", you are trying hard to go about doing multiple things, mostly for other people, without complaint. I take my hat off to you. Keep up the good work. To Pam and all others who are hurting, you are have way through another day and tomorrow will be better.

Sue Love to you and Mum and all other Wilsonettes.

Hi Sue,
Hi Everyone,
Oh Sue, what an absolute dream of a card! The background is gorgeous and the sentiment and gilded roses! It's another WOW !

Trust you are all having a sunny day! It's lovely here today!

Norah, what a day! Determination or what - then you nearly get sent into orbit ! Love the word galoot! It just says it all in a word! As an exiled Scot I love your posts! Have a restful day, please!

Steph, what a day! I hate that M62 in bad weather as its always full of lorries and so busy!

Granddaughter was 13 yesterday so we went to the Trafford Centre for dinner! She had shopping to do, you see ! My husband had several "firsts " yesterday! He was in Trafford Centre after dark! He ate there! He was in shops he hadn't even heard of! Rest of family really amused by this.

Pam , still in thoughts and prayers and Dawn too on the loss of your dear friend.

Have a lovely day, everyone, love Myra

Just got back from hair dressers, made a cuppa and watched your new card for today. Stunning as usual, Sue you have such great ideas, I can't think of different ways of using stamps and dies but you do. I must admit I do try to copy your work. They may not be exactly the same as yours but allways look good, family and friends always make good comments. Kind regards Sandra

Oooh this really is gorgeous Sue - I've not been very successful with the gilding techniques so far but I don't think I left the glue dry long enough, I will keep on trying!!! When I have sorted it I really must try to make this card - those roses are absolutely superb! A truly gorgeous card.

Hi Sue
Another stunning card today. I just love the tufted background stamp. This card looks so opulent, gilding flakes galore. My fingers are crossed as well, hoping to win a Sue Wilson creation.

Well Steph and Norah you both deserve a day of rest today after all your adventures. Sounds like you didn't enjoy your orbital ride Norah, and Steph rushing from daughters etc to the hospital. My partner has appointments every 6 weeks. never leaves enough time for (just in case). His appointment was changed from Tues to the Sat. It can take us 1-1 half hrs from Witney to the Churchill. No problems he says on a Sat. Well there was and we were only 10mins late. Their were people waiting before us, but we sat down and the doctor came straight out and called Mr Tinson, so we went straight in. The doctor went through all his treatments and said that his current medication was not working properly so he now needs a top up of daily tablets as well as monthly injections. Not nearly as traumatic as your day Steph and Norah. Take care and hugs to everyone especially Pam, you are in all our thoughts.

Hi Sue

Beautiful card today, I love everything about it especially the flowers.Love Becca Feekan dies they are very delicate, ideal for the smaller cards, but I won't be buying any of them until I have all of yours.

It seems all wedding talk at the moment, I was out doing 2nd wedding dress fitting yesterday with my daughter, and hair tonight. I have taken on board every comment about hair and I will take a ruler with me to make sure her bun won't be too big. Would'nt it be nice to have time to craft. With all this running around you would think I would be a size 6 now instead of wearing a 4 berth tent with an awning. ( I'm not really that big ) just feel it. Oh well must get lunch. 1 celery stick, 1 lettuce leaf, and a gnaw on the cats leg. Even their lunch looks better than mine.

God Bless you Pam, sending you lots of healing hugs, and big hugs to all my kind blog friends X.

Kind regards :-)
