Friends Are The Sunshine Of Life

Hi guys!  This card was a sample from shows in December that I missed.  I picked a piece of aqua decorative paper from the Teresa Collins paper pad exclusive to Creative Expressions.  I stamped the Vintage Alphabet Soup background by Becca Feeken on it using a black archival ink pad.  I trimmed and matted it with a thin white mat and a larger black mat.  In the corners, I used the small die from the Vintage Bracket and Label die set also by Becca Feeken.  I thought it just looked like it would be a cute embellishment in the corners to add some interest to the background.  I popped flatback pearls in the opening in the centres.  For the focal element, I went back to the same set and cut two of the tag dies in white card.  On one of them, I stamped my sentiment from the Sunflower Vintage Labels Five set by Justrite.  I inked it with Aqua Adirondack before removing it from the die.  I crisscrossed the tags to create a pretty focal piece.  Using the matching felt from the Blossom felt pack, I cut the Vintage Floret die to create a few flowers.  I added them around my sentiment with a messy bow tied from white seam binding and a black jute twine bow.  One of the flowers, I added a bud to the centre and the other was adorned with a pearl.  A real quickie of a card this one was and we always can use a few like that, don't you think!  Finished dimensions are 6 1/2" x
7 1/2" in size.
I have a really big favour to ask of my blog family today.  I don't usually do things like this and I wouldn't ask if it weren't for a really good cause.  Nick Roberts is part of our blog family and he used to live in Barnsley, but has moved to a very rural village in Bulgaria for health reasons.  He has started a craft club for the kids in his village that has become very popular with the locals (in fact it is overflowing with people of all ages wanting to learn craft!).  Nick has done all of this out of his own pocket and with the help of only a few donations.   He is entered into a Scan and Cut contest sponsored by Create and Craft to win £500 of crafty goodies and I would like to ask if you could all place a vote for Nick's card so he can win the goodies to help support his blossoming kids craft club in his village.
The link is:  https://www.facebook.com/CreateandCraft/app_1418210811744035
This will take you to the voting page and you need to scroll down to vote.  His card is the one seen here and it has his email on it (Trent999)  It would be lovely for him to win so he can continue growing his craft club.  Voting ends at Midnight Saturday.  Thank you so much!  All for now, Sue x

Your card here is sooo beautiful as always Sue, and so is Nicks card as well. Unfortunately I can´t vote for him, as it´s only for people on Facebook, and as I´m not there, they wount allow me to go in and vote, unless I like them first, which I can´t.
BUT is it possible, for you to give me his e-mail, or maybe give him mine and ask him to write me, cause I think, I´m able to help him in a different way from here, where we earlier have supported cases like these, so maybe I can do something good for him anyway, if I can just get in contact with him.

A lovely card which has a Celtic look to it. Just love the colours too. Will give a vote to Nick, as he sends a lot of emails to C&C and is dedicated to the cause. Hope he wins as it would be a great boost to him.
How lucky was I yesterday, to meet my idol ,Sue Wilson and Julia Watts as they were walking around the NEC in Birmingham. Why oh why didn't I get a photograph? Was so thrilled to chat to them that I didn't think, but sue is a lovely lovely lady, and was so kind and chatty. One day I won't forget. Thank you Sue for all you do. Xxxx

GM Sue - I am not on Facebook but if there is another way I'd love to vote for Nick. Love this card, great colours. Also, many thanks for all the good luck commnents from Wilsonettes yday - I finished the card yday so the stress is over until tomorrow - show day. Was interesting to hear from a couple of others that needlecraft often beats papercraft - it's not that I dont appreciate the skill in needlecraft but I just dont think some of techniques we use are sometimes appreciated by some judges - yet alone design and creativity - dont get me going on that now - end of rant!

Good morning Sue and fellow Wilsonettes,
This stamp is growing on me Sue with each passing card that you show as it looks better and better with the different dies you use with it. I love the dies you have used today as it breaks it up to look good for man or woman, as normally i would have made just men cards with it.. Thank you for the continuing inspiration that you give us each and every day. Have voted for Nick and so has hubby(well i'll tell him later that i voted on his behalf) hee hee hee. Will get daughter to vote for him on her facebook page after. I just wish there was more we could do for Nick as the youngsters are our crafters of the future that ensures that crafting doesn't die out. Seeing the joy on someone who has never done anything like that before is just wonderful as i experienced first hand with my friend at the Glasgow show. She is now wanting to get a die machine after seeing what it can do and all the different effects you can get. Seeing her face light up at the prospect of what she can achieve is lovely and she isn't a child, just someone who couldn't understand all the hype until she made a simple tag card. If crafting can have that effect on a grown woman, it is magical to see a child so excited.
Oh how lovely it is to see your name Pam back at the top of the comment board again.
Tina, so pleased that your daughter is over her op and looking forward to her new start on Monday. It's so nice that her wee ones were pampering their mummy as it wont last long so i hope she enjoyed the attention while it was going her way.
Well my hills have got a dusting of icing sugar on the top of them making them look like fruit dumpling, mmmmh pity you can't eat them. Hope i see you all tomorrow as i am making my friends daughters wedding invitations up to day as it did all the cutting out yesterday so the shoulders are complaining today after all the cranking on the Caliber yesterday. Mammoth double sided taping to do as some idiot thought it looked lovely with 5 layers to it. Must have words with self at the stupid ideas i come up with.
Love and crafty hugs
Norah (Glenochil)

Hi Sue,

Stunning card, as usual Sue. Will vote for Nick later.

Am starting a new job today, only one day a week, at our local craft shop and I am absolutely bricking it!!!! Not worked for a few years and the thoughts of that digital cash machine - ahhhhhh. Am at the stage now where I am wondering why I said yes when the owner asked me to work for her. Not slept for a few nights, am organized this morning and ready to go but don't start til 10 so thought I would share this little snippet with my friends.

Have put off going, but I must make myself now.

Much love,k

Sue,

I love today's card. It is so fresh looking with a lovely spring feel to it. I have voted for Nick but like others have said, would be more than willing to contribute in other ways.

Anyone intending to send anything, then have a look at parcel2go. I could send a substantial box of charity items to France for just £16ish. They are also good at helping causes so might be worth talking to them if enough people are interested.

Hi Sue
Another stunning card today, but not to sure about the stamp done in black on Teresa's card stock. I think it distracts from the paper. I'll go and vote for Nick later. Have a good day at the NEC direct. MaryAnn if you can help Nick in another way, I suggest that you email Sue direct as she doesn't always see all of these posts. She has said that if anyone wants to ask her questions she's happy to help but to email her direct.

Morning Sue and Wilsonettes. I dont know what I'd do without all my blog friends here so very appropriate sentiment today.
Praise to Nick for all he is acheiving under difficult circumstances and I shall only be too happy to vote for him. I know how satisfying it is to help and be able to donate any unwanted vraft stash as I did last year to our childrens ward. I bought so much 'cheap' stuff when I first starting crafting and its not until you learn there is better quality card etc that you realise just how much rubbish you 'invested' in that you know you wouldnt give it house room, but so many children will get so much joy out of it. So although I dont have a lot and finances are not that great to replace my craft goodies, if I / we can donate Id be happy to do that also.
Yesterday was a disaster, why are MOTB outfits made from heavy expensive 'curtain' fabric ?!! I either looked like a curtain pole, a bag of spuds, or right scrawney ! And the price - woah just for one day ! I know its special, and we all hope its a life long committment, and we want to look lovely for our daughters/sons but I cant justify or afford to pay almost 200.00 just for a dress, thats without the rest of the things to go with it ! So it was an awful day and didnt do much for my self esteem or confidence, never mind ay ?
Im off to vote now and re-start my cards ready for Sunday. Clare will be thinking of you tomorrow and hope the judges see just how tallented you are and how much love you put into your card : )

Friendship brings sun and happiness into your heart and life. So much sun today which means there must be an awful lot of friendship here today.
Love and gentle hugs to all that need them.

Love you.

Hi Sue,
Hi Everyone,
A lovely sentiment today which actually matches the weather! Lovely card - love the shades of flowers and the background too.
Like many others I don't do Facebook! Was actually a relief to realise I was not the only one! Like others would vote in another way if possible and think sending goodies out is also an excellent idea! Wish Nick all the best, have heard his name mentioned often.
My card came yesterday - it is beautiful! Lovely to see all the details. Thank you so much!
Have a good weekend everyone, especially Pam and others going through difficult times.
Love Myra

Hi Sue, lovely card today and I remember it from the show.
I have voted for Nick not just because you asked but because his is the best card on there! I know of Nick from C & C and love the pictures he sends in of his animals. He is doing a great job and encouraging people to craft is surely a good thing.

Absolutely gorgeous card Sue, a really pretty way you have used this alphabet background stamp. Love it! What a great thing Nick is doing but unfortunately Create & Craft rules state that the competition is only open to UK residents, and he lives in Bulgaria what a shame. He would not be eligible for the prize even if he receives the most votes.

Hi Sue, and my blog friends

Lovely card today, colour is beautiful. The sentiment is so right, and I have found some lovely ones on your blog, THANK YOU.

I too will vote for Nick when my husband gets home as I personally don't do facebook. I have heard Nick's name mentioned many a time on C&C. I would also like to make a contribution to nick, I too have stock I don't use. I have lots of Hunkydory, cutey ( animals ) items if they would be of any use. What a lovely thing Nick is doing in his village, and hope the bulgarian climate is beneficial to his health.

Nanna Tina. Hugs and good health wishes to Kara and wish her well in her new venture.

Janet, your fall sounded horrendous, I hope you are feeling better today.

Big hugs to you Pam.

Kind regards :-)

Firstly I have to thank Sue for all of her support and for giving us all such inspiration with the beautiful cards she shares. Thank you so much to all of you who have taken time to vote for my card and more importantly left a message as well. It's been a real pleasure to read the comments that you have left for the card I made. You have made me a very happy man, I'm really touched, so much so that it's hard to put into words how much your support means to me, it's certainly boosted my confidence no end. Thank you to you all.
The club for the village has been loved by the locals and it has proved far more popular than I could have ever imagined. It's a real privilege to be able to give something back to them. I have tried to post a photo of the club but unfortunately Computers are not my forte, I know there are going to be some in the club magazine this month

Hi Sue

Late as usual for comments - and can't vote for Nick as the voting has finished - I would have loved to support him too!!! He deserves happiness and all the help he can get.

Not sure if I like the background of the card - just a little bit dark for me - but love the foreground with sentiment, die cuts and of course those flowers... maybe this one is more of a fella's card so lose the flowers - or lighten the background and definitely for a female. Sorry! Still appreciate the hard work that must have gone into it!!!

Hope you are well.
