Butterflies

Good morning friends!  I couldn't resist making one of those long skinny style cards I like.  I thought this big butterfly stamp from Justrite would look perfect that way.  Notice, not a single die cut either!  This truly is a quick card to make even with the little bit of fussy cutting!  I started with a piece of decorative kraft card from Canvas Corp.  It already has the pretty white pattern on it so the background was sorted.  I matted it on black card to give it a bit of a frame.  Next,  I stamped the butterfly from Justrite three times vertically in a row using a black Archival ink pad.  I went around the outside of each of the images with a soft blue pencil for a shadow.  I used Distress markers to colour each one (Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves)and softened the colour a bit with a wet paintbrush.  I then stamped the butterflies again on white card with the black archival and then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.  I coloured each one again with the same colours and cut them out by hand.  I did not cut around the antennae, but rather just let the ones from the background show against these butterflies that were going to be  mounted above them.  I attached each of the butterflies using Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue on the body only, leaving the wings to be shaped and lifted.  I used a bit of white pencil as highlights around the body and on parts of the wings.  Finally I finished with a double white mat and I used Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue dots all the way around the edge to frame and finish my card.  Finished dimensions are 5 3/4" x 10 3/4" in size.

Some of you might already know this, but Phill Martin has joined the Creative Expressions team and he will be doing his first C & C shows for us today at 9am and 4pm.  He will also be premiering his new line of stamps called "Sentimentally Yours," which Creative Expressions will be distributing for to our stockists.  Phill is a very talented crafter and a really great guy so it is lovely to have him on board.  I hope you can tune in today to see his first shows for us!    All for now, Sue x

Another stunner Sue, love the antique feeling the kraft card and your choice of muted colours to decorate the butterflies has given the card.
