Best Son

Hello crafters and Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends!  Today's card uses one of my favourite products; the Creative Expressions Crackle Glaze.  I started by covering a piece of black card with the crackle glaze and allowed it to dry overnight.  Once dry, I mixed Warm White Chalk paint with Chocolate Gold metallic lustre paints (both Cr. Exp. products) and painted it on to the dry card.  Within a few minutes, the cracks appear (it is so cool to watch!)  I cut the piece into three strips and mounted them on to a piece of black card.  Next I cut the tool box out of tan card and inked through the die with Vintage Photo distress Oxide ink.  I cut several of the tools from the In The Tool Box set to add to the tool box.  I used a silver paint pen to add detail to each of them.  I used the Stitched Pegboard Frames die to create a pegboard piece for some additional tools.  I used the silver paint pen on them before gluing them to the pegboard backing and attaching it to the top of the card.  I cut the sentiment from tan card and added it to a double hexagon frame cut from mocha and tan card.  The card was completed with milk, tan and mocha mats and layers.  The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  8" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Stunning card Sue, lovely for all our males. Hapoy Thanksgiving to you and all.
Carmen, very sad news about little Jacob. I hope he had his wonderful last Chrustmas that he wanted. His poor family will be devastated but I hope they take comfort from the fact that he will be running with the Angeks whilst he waits for them. Maureen is right, Bette Davus or the doctor, give your moaning co worker the choice.
Donita, you sound so tired, you really need some me time, you are working too hard. Slow down please, don't want you I'll.
Maureen sounds good to me, you have moved into the posh zone.
Sharon, Cyprus is gorgeous, have a wonderful time, you can have a low key Christmas this year. The sun will do you good.
June hooe the crafting group went well.
Elaine, I'm sorry Mary isn't coping well, hope she was a little better when you went to see her. Hapoy that Andrew is feeling a little better.
My Mickey Mouse card is finished, I'm really pleased with it. It is 8 X 8 so quite striking, she will love it.
Izzy I too would love to see deer but I know they can be quite destructive. I would buy apples too for them.
Daily hug basket overflowing, help yourselves. A few for poorly and missing friends too.

This such a brilliant fun sample I love it and keeping everything crossed it's one of a few dies I shall be owner of next month, goodness knows I've dropped enough hints since launch lol.
We bought our daughter a pink DIY kit with the basic necessities she would need when she left home for her first nursing position in Yorkshire and I'm sure she started married life with more tools than her husband who asked to borrow her screwdriver even before they got engaged ! What does that tell you lol.
So I'll send extra happy hugs to you today Sue and if you are celebrating in warm sunny Florida then I hope your day is as wonderful as you are xxx

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, such a stunning card Sue, I have this die set and have made quite a few cards using it, one of the things I like the most are the little nails, yes 4 little nails from a tiny little die.

Happy thanksgiving to you Sue, Beverly, Stephanie and anyone else from across the pond, enjoy your celebrations.

Pam I reiterate all you have said, Carmen, so sorry about Jacob.

Yes I enjoyed yesterday at craft group, had lots of laughs and I so much like helping people and teaching them what I know (not a lot as some people might say ha ha), one of my ladies is 82 and she had her hip replaced about 8 weeks ago, she came back yesterday and is walking around really well, talk about put me to shame. Then went to the Diabetic course, it is very interesting and informative, makes you think what you eat too.

Stay safe, healthy and happy, hugs, June Smith xxx

Morning Sue, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. I hope you have a great day. I love today's card, I wish these dies had been around last year, as they so,be so many problems for those 'man' cards.

Very high winds and rain here last night, the few leaves that were left on the trees are now down, which makes the roads and pavements very slippy, so please take care everyone if you are out and about today.

Hi Sue
Lovely card for the men in our lives and a great background.
Another technique for a crackle background I have used in the past is:-
Cover your card in a layer of paint, allow to dry completely.
Then cover the card in quite a thick layer of PVA glue (do NOT allow to dry) and immediately cover in a different colour of paint.
As the glue dries the top layer of paint shrinks and the bottom colour is revealed giving a crackled effect.

Hi Sue, Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family and to all our American friends on here also. I love this card and the die set with all the tiny tools (I am a sucker for anything miniaturised). The crackle background is perfect and looks a little like planks of weathered wood. Sadly I have no excuses to buy this set and will just have to admire your cards. My father was a carpenter but he has been gone a long time now and hubby was great at DIY until his stroke last year so I wouldn't want to rub his nose in it.

After two days of ceaseless rain today we have a lovely bright blue sky with white puffy clouds but there is snow on the hills behind Norah's hills. I'll be quite happy if it just stays there :-)

Have a good day everyone.

June H, hope the hospital tests come back o.k.
Pat L, trouble with decorating before Christmas is that people spill things, knock things over and before you know it, it's time to decorate again ha ha. Still, it looks good until then!
Susan B, I'll have to try that paint and glue trick.
Fluffycat, Brrr keep the snow up there please.
Myra, I won't moan anymore, I promise (oops my nose is growing)!

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

What an adorable card, i just love all the miniature tools, they are so cute and dinky. Perfect card for the handyman or DIY enthusiast, sadly none of my family have ever shown the slightest bit of interest in using their hands constructively, in fact its safe to say that we are all as much use as a chocolate teapot! But I will appreciate your card designs from afar as I phone for a professional to complete the work at ten times the cost!
Happy Thanksgiving to you Sue, your family and all of our American Wilsonettes, hope you are enjoying the day and all that turkey with the trimmings..what desserts do you traditionally have, and do you use my personal favourite, bread sauce with your turkey?
Ooh, that’s made me hungry! I had my second visit to the dentist today:-( This time i had three fillings at the opposite side, it wasn’t as bad as the last time other than my jaw kept dislocating as I tried to open my mouth wide enough However, my mouth is swollen and half of it is still numb so i just tried to eat a little git of custard....oops, i meant BIT of custard!....and it dribbled down my face, so not a good look!
Carmen, i was saddened to hear about little Jacob, i had been hoping for that miracle but i suppose it wasn’t to be:-( I do hope that he enjoyed his last Christmas with his family though and my thoughts and prayers are with them now as they learn to cope without their little ray of sunshine. Life can be so cruel at times, your whining colleague needs to get a grip of himself , nobody likes the ageing process, me in particular:-), however we have been blessed with chances that poor little souls like Jacob will never get to experience, theres a valuable lesson in gratitude somewhere in there! Hope you are wellxxx
Maureen, so Operation DIY SOS has been completed! What a relief for you, i would never use the cooker or hob again just so that it stays pristine, shiny and perfect, tell George its takeaways from now on if he wants anything to eat in the future:-)
Myra, I didn’t have time for a proper post earlier, had my dental appointment, thought i’d Better redeem myself now though. I was meant to speak with Yvonne on Tuesday but our schedules keep clashing...at least that’s my excuse:-) I told her that you were all concerned about her health and wellbeing, i thought it might make her feel wanted and missed, after all, a little white lie now and again wont send me to Hell, or will it?
Elaine, I don’t know what i would do without access to the internet, especially with all the sales going on at the minute. I do hope your laptop is fixed soon, its so frustrating. What’s this about a fall, are you okay?
Tracy, sending special hugs to you my dear
Rosemary, epilepsy is a real strain, the seizures can be so life altering if they aren’t under proper control, you bear this all with such courage and fortitude...i could never tolerate the medication, body weight is too low, so I salute you for persevering with it and hopefully they will find your perfect level soon and the seizures will diminish accordingly, Got part of my Strictly outfit earlier this week, its a leopard print fur coat from Frasers, only the dress, shoes and handbag to go now, waiting for the Sales, hugs.
Saba, you would LOVE the shoes and handbag i have my eyes on, they are from LK Bennett and are bronze and glittery, Wowzers!....no, you’re not borrowing them until I have worn them to Strictly!:-) I hate real Christmas trees, i prefer really bushy white frosted artificial ones because they are thicker, lush and don’t create a mess. Since we moved we have only been able to put up a 3ft fibre optic white one, our two large ones remain in the loft sadly because we have too much furniture in our Lounge for them to fit, I cant believe that its almost time to put them up again, how time flies as you get more wrinkly:-)

Hi again, sorry if my comment seems a bit disjointed but I had to delete a lot of it....went way over the word limit yet again i’m Afraid and have spent a good 20mins trying to delete half of it:-(
Pam, hope things have settled down at work for you and that you’ve had no recent flare ups, hugsxxx
Donita, worried that everyone is telling you to slow down, are you okay?
Frances, yes, Norah’s Hills were breathtaking today, and the mountains in the distance were also dappled with snow glistening in the sunshine....i hate all of the torrential rain, give me cold, sunny, frosty days any day of the week! Last night Darcey forced me to go out with her in a downpour just so she could go to the toilet, some would say i was barmy and they are probably right! She.s currently protesting under my bed because i had the audacity to change my duvet cover yesterday and she objects to the clean new sheets, she keeps giving me the evils:-), am I alone with this peculiarity?
Extra hugs to all my blog besties and to those in need....apologies again for such a long comment but I didn’t want to leave anyone outxxx

Hello Sue,
Brilliant card for our pesky males. Not for my hubby though he's rubbish at diy! Love the dinky little tools hanging on the peg board, and crackle glaze background is brilliant. Happy thanksgiving to you and all our lovely American Wilsonettes.
Elaine, I used to work at a hospital in the U.K. and believe you me it was a nightmare finding a parking spot especially on a late shift and we had to pay for the privilege.
Lorraine I love the sound of your shoes, please please can you send them on to me when you've finished with them, I have the perfect outfit to go with them! Your trip to the dentist sounds horrendous, rather you than me. So happy to see you back.
Pam it's time to fess up. I've been having a few problems with my back, over the last few weeks I've had numerous visits to my GP and an orthopaedic consultant plus twice weekly physio otherwise know as torture treatment and today I had a C T scan. The results are good so tonight I'm a happy bunny.
Love and hugs for all

Hi Sue. WOW !!! I LOVE today's fantastic card !!! The tool box die set is right at the top of my Christmas wish list. The little tools are all Sooo cute !!! I love the crackle paint technique you have used for your background. It is very impressive, and looks very authentic. I love the peg board dies and you have used my favourite dies at the moment - the Hexagons !!! I do love that you have included the perfect male sentiment dies in your tool box set. I think the colour combo is perfect to. Thank you for sharing this fantastic card. Lots of love to you Sue from Tres x x x

Good morning Sue and all her followers. Hope all our American friends had a Happy Thanksgiving.
A wonderful card today for the DIY people in our lives, my George would have loved it.I once bought a pair of wire twisters (In my doll making days) and put a label on that read MINE, I caught him using it and he said "It's MINE, it says so on the label" Oh what happy memories.
Have a great day everyone.

This card is so adorable if that is ok to use to describe a “guy card”. I need this set . My hubby and BIL are good with tools. Even if not, I think any fellow would enjoy this card.
Thanksgiving was great. We got to walk on the beach Wednesday and then Thursday my BIL smoked a turkey and my sister and I cooked. Lorraine, I don’t know bread sauce. We made dressing out of focciaca bread and have gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry/ pear sauce, and a salad with roasted vegetables. We had apple pie ala mode for dessert.
I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a good one.
Stay safe and warm,
