Christmas Double Day

Hi bloggers!  Two completely different sort of cards for today's double day offerings.  First up, I started with a piece of ruby red card and used the Nordic Christmas mask and taped it in place with removable tape.  I used Red Glitter Kiss through the mask following the four turn technique to get adequate coverage from each angle of the design.  I allowed it to dry well, then cut it into three strips.  I added mounting foam to the back of the strips then added them to a slightly larger piece of coconut white card, leaving a small gap between them.  I cut four of the Poinsettia Flourishes in white and glued them into the four corners.  For the focal element, I cut the Lace Snowflake Frame in white and added it to the centre.  I stamped my sentiment, then cut a frame from a piece of ruby card that I covered with the red glitter kiss, using the inside hexagon dies from the Lace Snowflake die.  I added the frame over the sentiment with foam, then trimmed away the excess card and mounted it in the centre of the snowflake.  The card was completed with white and red mats and layers. The finished dimensions are 7 1/2" x  7 1/2" in size.  Scroll down for card number two.

Card number two is a more frosty looking one, done in aqua and white.  I started by cutting six of the Snowflake Edgers in white.  I attached them to the sides of a wide piece of aqua card that I embossed with the Wild Poinsettia embossing folder.  I added a white backing piece that I added strips of sticky adhesive sheets to the edges.  I peeled the backing paper off and coated both sides with Iced Snow.  For the focal element, I cut the Scalloped Snowflake Frame in white as the backdrop.  To it, I added the Art Deco Snowflake frame in white.  I stamped my sentiment, then covered it with a sticky adhesive sheet.  I peeled the backing paper off then added an aqua frame cut with the centre of the Scalloped Snowflake die set.  I coated the exposed adhesive with Diamond Sprinkles then attached it to the centre of the card.  I made a bow with some aqua ribbon (from my stash) and added a white crystal sparkler to the centre of it.  White on white mats and layers were used to complete the card.  The finished dimensions are   6 3/4" x  10 1/2" in size.  All for now, Sue x

Elaine big hugs for you and the family, with you all the way.
Carmen, it was a lovely heartwarming thing you did fir little Jacob, bless you.
Sam, your comment is priceless, it helps me to focus on the details, don't ever stop. As you say no one has to read it but I do every day.
Laine, hooe you are feeling better today, I hate the dentist, optician too. Find visits there so uncomfortable .
Maureen, enjoy your visit from the girls.
Sent good wishes to Tina and family, had a reply, he is Phienix Evan, he is going to bring so much needed happiness to that whole family, a real gift of love.
Meeting went okay, will get written decision in 5 days, manager didn't give anything away. Union said it it is wrong decision it will go to appeal and possibly tribunal, as it is in the guidance.
Hugs to all, have a wonderful day. Soecial ones for poorly and missing friends

Good morning Sue,

Lovely cards today. I think my favourite is the aqua one. This looks so cool and stylish with the coconut white. I’ve bought a rather large stash of coconut white as, like you, it’s become a favourite of mine.

Have a great day,

Morning Sue. Two absolute beauties and so very different. I've not been able to add any of the latest festive dies to my collection - yet, and the decision would be so hard to make which to have, made even harder by the glorious samples you treat us to. Red is a real festive colour and the Glitter Kiss gives the whole design the wow factor but I love how the whole sample draws you in - stunning.
The delicate shades of the second almost send a wave of serenity over you, and I just love how you've tiered the Snowflake edger like that - really really pretty.

Sam - your post is the only post I look for to read. I'm useless with written instruction but taking it step by step as you do helps so much, and anyone that is totally new to card making would find it invaluable, if by looking at Sue's samples and feels daunted by it and think they possibly could never make such a gorgious card, they only need to read your post and everything they need and step by step instruction is all there to give them confidence to make it.Just one request Sam if it's at all possible lol as you are up at 4am any chance of posting early so I don't have to keep scrolling down to find you ? Plus, like I say the newer blog addicts may not want to read all the comments and would miss your valuable instruction - what do you think ? Would that be possible to fit in with your morning schedule xx.

Thank you Sue for 2 really beautiful festive samples, and thank you Sam for your valuable post (too bad if people don't like the length of your comment its full of crafty knowledge that I for one need)

So after my own long comment all that's left is to send lots of hugs your way and hope whatever you're doing brings you a lovely day xxx

Good morning Sue. Two beautiful cards today, I love Festive Fridays! Couldn't possibly choose a favourite today so I'll have to have both please!
Pam, sounds like your union has the measure of your boss and she's now just going through the motions to "save face", the final decision will be that they support you, then they look like the good guys! Whatever happens, as long as you want to be there, there's nothing they can do so stand your ground (unless they offer obscene amounts of money-back then grab it and run would be my advice - more craft time and there's lots of other things out there that value experience).
Sam, I haven't been able to keep up with everyone's comments lately due to weird shifts at work, but I always scroll through for yours because it helps me process the information Sue gives. Hugs to all. Sue xxx

Dear Sue and Friends,

I like the second one because I love the snowflake edger. I'd like to try offsetting it, which would require extending it, then putting the second row down so the snowflakes alternate rather than line up.
The first card could probably be just as nice without cutting the red glitter kiss into panels. The white space between them gets lost behind the bold white snowflakes.
Sam, I appreciate your explanations too. Sometimes when I don't understand Sue's synopsis, I read what you said and then I get it.
Like looking at two different field guides to identify the bird.
And Carmen, it's very possible that your card and all the others could give Jacob a longer life. That happened here. The boy knew he was dying, and he told his dad that before he went to heaven, he wanted to be famous as far away as the Great Wall of China, and his dad posted it on social media, and lots of people took pictures holding signs saying #DSTRONG at the Great Wall and all over the world. Famous people sent him pictures of themselves holding some version of the sign. Townspeople went to the beach and stood in groups forming lthe letters, and they got an aerial photo. Troopers shut down one highway at night and posed outside their cruisers under one of those overhead digital message boards that said #dstrong. One of the New England Patriots visited him at home. It really was wonderful, and he did live about two months longer.
It's so cool that your coworker wanted you to make the card. No storebought card would do!
Enjoy your Friday, everybody.

Love,
Donita

Hi Sue,
Two different cards, elegant and beautiful both, in their own. Love the traditional red for Christmas but I love the softness of aqua color, too. Love this “double” days. Thank you, Sue., for the double inspiration and kindness.

Pam – Glad the meeting went well, but I can't believe you have another week to wait. I hope everything works out for you.
Elaine – Hope your card will get in time. Fingers crossed.
Julie – Congratulations on your new grandson Jacob!
Laine – I didn’t know you are so brave … 4 fillings in one day? It is more than I can do it. Did anybody hold your hand during of this, yes, atrocious process? Let me know ahead of time and I will be there with you next time …if you’ll need my support :) Hope you feel better today.

Sam – I, like many others, appreciate your post. No need for you to apologize. Whoever is not interested or find too long your comment can always skip it. No need for negative comments on the blog. Let’s respect each other and think about Christmas – the time of Peace, Joy, Love and Hope.

Thank you for those (many of you, that's why I won't write a list) who added Jacob’s name on their prayers. Maybe our voices will be heard and a Christmas miracle will happen.

Hugs to you all,

Hi Sue,
Two fabulous cards, one bold and making a statement, the other delicate and subtle. Love them both, but if I had to choose I would go for the red!
Pam, glad your meeting wasn't too bad and that the union are being so supportive, but sorry you've got to wait for 5 days for the outcome. Hang in there, I'm sure they'll come to their senses xxx
Sam, you just carry on with your posts - as others have said, they are very informative xx
Sending love and hugs to everyone, Alison xxx

Hi Sue. Two gorgeous Christmas cards today. Love the sparkling red snowflake one and this is my favourite. The blue one is lovely but a little too large for my liking but of course I can replicate it on a smaller scale.
Congratulations to Tina and Julie on the arrival of your new grandsons. Xx

Hello Sue,
Two stunners today but why, when you say there are two cards, am I always surprised when the second one pops up?!! They are both gorgeous, yet totally different.
Pam, it's like torture for you, do you think your Manager does it on purpose. Stick in there and have a good weekend.
Carmen, Jacob will continue to be in my prayers.
Donita, that was a really moving story, the human spirit can withstand a great deal if given hope.
Laine, hope all goes well at the dentist.
Sam S, I've never said it but your comments are very, very handy at times.
Maria A, hope you are in less pain.
PP, hope you are well.
love to all

Hi Sue,
Two stunning cards, love the bright red/white card and the beautiful corners and am torn between the two because I love blue/white cards for Christmas, two very different cards.
Cheers,

Two gorgeous Christmas cards. One very warm and cosy and the other cold and icy.
I love both but if forced to choose it would be the red and white.

Hello Sue,
Two gorgeous cards but if I had to choose a favourite it would be the first one. The ruby red just screams Christmas to me and highlighted with the Nordic mask and glitter kiss it screams even louder. I really must find out who ships glitter kiss to Germany. The second card is equally beautiful, delicate and pretty, it it evokes a frosty day. Two gorgeous samples for our Two for one. Thank you Sue.

Pam glad the meeting went well, hope your manager is reconsidering her awful attitude towards your problems at work.
Donita thank you for another story of inspiration, showing us the power of caring through thoughts and deeds.
Elaine you are kindness itself, always thinking of others when you yourself have so much on your plate.
Julie Laz, many congratulations on the birth of your new grandson. Enjoy those cuddles.
Carmen I googled Jacob, what a brave little soul. I'll be making him a card this weekend. He is in my prayers, miracles do happen.
Sam - you deserve some recognition for your very helpful posts, you put a lot of time and effort into them.
Lorraine, I was wearing my pink leotard all day anxiously awaiting delivery of my new shoes, gave the postie quite a shock! Ah well, maybe tomorrow.....
Love and hugs for all

Hands down, I vote for the red one. I love red and white and I love the Glitter kiss stenciled background. I have the poinsettia corners and I love that die too. Both are wonderful cards though and anyone would be pleased to find either in their mail box.
Pam, sounds like your day went well. I think all will work out for you.
Donita, what a touching story. I am glad to hear of kind people rather than the other kind.
Sam, you are very helpful to me. I don't know how you figure out everything but you do and I consider you the Wikipedia of our blog. Good going and keep up the good work.
I spent the day with my 2 sisters and my niece making cards (using Sue Wilson dies of course). What a good day.
Have a great weekend all,

Sue, I love ALL your cards, but on one card that I found on your blog, you used an embossing folder called Let It Snow. I have gone on your website, and I cannot find the embossing folder. I also checked your company, and they had not heard of the embossing folder. Has it been retired?
