You Are The Best

Good Sunday morning all!  Need a really quick card, maybe even for a male in your life, then this is a great one for you.  I selected ginger card and cut the Atlantic Ocean Background.  I backed it with black card, leaving a little bit of an edge around it for a mat.  I cut the Lucy die in coconut white card, using both decorative inner dies.  I added it to the centre of the background in a diamond orientation.  I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the centre of the Atlantic Ocean tag and inked it with Tea Dye distress ink and the inked it with a black marker before adding it to the centre of the card.  I added white flatback pearls to the background and focal die element.  I added a white pierced mat, black and ginger mats and a final white mat layer.  The finished dimensions are 7" x  7"  in size.

The winners of this week's Comment Game are:

Barbara Macaskill!!!
Sued 99!!!
Dawn Holben!!!

Congratulations all!  Please email me at americansue1@gmail.com to confirm your address and claim your your prize.  All for now. Sue x

Stunning card Sue, lovely.
Congrats to comment game winners Barbara, Sue and Dawn.
Frances loved your robin stories, they were delightful.
Carmen, thank you for update on the Kid, I'm so pleased he is keeping in touch and that he seems happy. Fingers crossed his scan brings the best news ever.
Diane, it was good to see the boys. Kelly didn't tell them until they were home as I didn't want them to worry whilst they were away and it would have spoilt their holiday, they think they are grown up but they are still kids and after the shock of their grandfathers death recently, I think it was the right decision. They are okay Now that they have seen me.
Donita, I too thought Dave was a funny name for the puppy but somehow it suits him.
Maria, hope you are more comfortable now, just be careful.
Pat, good news, Mr L is doing very well. Glad he got rid of the crutches, horrible things.
Didn't have a good day yesterday, little flare ups all day long, hope today is better.
Daily hugs to all, especially our poorly and missing friends.

Morning Sue and all Wilsonettes, a great man's card today - could have done with this inspiration a few weeks ago but I went with the stained glass kingfisher instead (that was a great success).

I am off to a workshop today, making 3 cards so looking forward to that.

Dear Sue and Weekend Wilsonettes,

What a strong card! It makes me want to experiment with colors. The black seems too dark and the white too bright. Maybe contrast makes it powerful, but I'd like to try a chocolate for the black and maybe wheat or gold for the white. Ginger is the part I liked best. Lucy didn't appeal to me at first, but she's starting to make her case. Sue, we probably don't say it enough, but you are so important to me! You make my life better in many ways, such as creating beauty that we can also create, inspiring us to have ideas, teaching us how to do and how to see, delighting our eyes and imaginations, giving us a daily no-calorie luscious treat, and being the foundation for this caring community. I'm so glad you found your calling.

Well done to Barbara, Sue and Dawn. ( I've learned that Well Done might not make sense since all you did was get picked but it sure feels good, doesn't it!)

Frances, thank you for the robin stories. Now I understand why robins are so loved at Christmas in the U.K.

SHARICA, if you're new, welcome! If you've been here since way back, welcome back!

Pam, I feel a little shaken that we almost lost you. I love you. May your suffering be short-lived but your recovery require you to miss lots of work and get paid the whole time.

That goes for the rest of you, too. Short suffering, long, enjoyable recovery, no financial worries.

Love,
Donita

Quick and simple for anyone, changing to pastels would make it very pretty for a lady, or bright colours for a teenager. I think that's what I like about using dies, they are mostly pretty and its just the colours you choose that make them suitable for or liked by different people.

Hello Sue,

Great card with lots of impact - we need these quick and easy templates when stuck for ideas, especially for the males in our lives as I've noticed they're very rarely sentimental about cards and don't keep them anyway, so why waste time and effort agonising over a design when you know it's just going to be binned after a couple of days on the mantelpiece!...

Donita - not just the UK, the robin is used as a Christmas motif in the Low Countries too (Holland/Belgium) and probably also Denmark, northern France and Scandinavia - not only are they the most colourful bird that's left in the country over the winter when all the "prettier" birdies have flown south but also both sexes are really feisty with lots of attitude, so very endearing...

Hello Sue,
I love the card, just not sure of the colours but wouldn't it be a sad World if we all liked the same things.
Pam, a chap walks passed our house a few times each day and I talk to him if I'm at the front garden. Yesterday I said to George "here's Fred" so when he came up to us George said "hello Fred", I should have told him that the dog was Fred and the man was Del ha ha. Glad the twins weren't distressed and you had a good time.
Alimecca, how are you now. Are you nearly back to normal? By the way, how did you dislocate your replacement knee?
Donita, your stories are great. I was watching Sky News and the English team were broadcasting from Madras, Oregon. Such excitement for the Total Eclipse that they were saying the population is expected to swell from 6,000 to 100,000! There were tents, caravans and motor homes as far as the eye could see on some shots. Amazing! I loved your comment to Pam about a long time off work and getting paid!
Margaret Rogers, I really, really like you. You make me feel like a young whippersnapper ha ha.
Elaine I hope all is well with the family.
Laine and PP sending love.
Rosemary Powell, sending love.
Congratulations to Barbara, Sued and Dawn. Enjoy your prize.

Good evening lovely Sue and her crafty crew!

I adore the colours of today's little treat, the ginger is so bold and striking when coupled with the black and white. The Atlantic Background is a gorgeous die, i have it in my collection but it remains unused, a victim of my crafting malaise i am afraid, however, its cards like this one that really make me itch to get started again so thanks for achieving the near impossible!
Donita has had a beautiful way with words today and i would like to concur with her sentiments regarding your importance in the lives of so many people....liked the calorie free indulgence analogy in particular:-)
In addition, the hopes that Pam will have little pain and discomfort but maximum sick leave and recovery with full pay will be echoed by many on the blog....you deserve a good break from that job Pam, if not for your health, for your sanity! Good idea not to disrupt the boys holiday with news of your illness, there was little they could do and they really needed a good break full of happy memories....i too think Dave is an amusing name for a dog, that was until i heard of Bert the Dalmatian:-)
Frances, loved your stories about the robin and its significance....never feel that you are boring us, titbits like that are what make this blog so great:-)
Carmen, lovely to hear from the Kid, so glad he is settling in to his new environment. Do hope his scans go well too. Comparing your conversation with those that i have to endure with Yvonne is cruel, he is a charming young man whilst she is a self obsessed old crone who delights in spreading doom wherever she goes.....no contest i am sure, i know who I'd rather chat with!:-)
Myra, these late nights are becoming a regular occurrence, get you, trying to pretend that you have a social life out with the blog:-), we know better don't we Maureen?
Maureen, ooh, you are awful! I bet George was mortified when the dog replied back:-) May i suggest a few breakdancing classes to get that gammy hip working again, it could do wonders in the bedroom too and put a smile back on poor Georges face:-)
Rosemary, glad to hear that you are suffering no ill effects from the pills, lets just hope that they start to reduce your seizures.
Congrats to all of this weekends winners, thoroughly deserved by all!
Oh and Pam, hope you've had a much better day today and continue to do so until your operationxxx
Hugs to all my blog besties and those who are missing at the moment, wishing everyone good health, wealth and happinessxxx

Love and crafty hugs

Hi Sue,
Lovely card for those pesky males! Really like the ginger card.
Congratulations to the lucky winners,
Pam hope you've had a better day today xx
Maureen , thank you for asking after me. I'm doing ok although my knee foes still give way a lot. Last Sunday we went to Seaham for a walk along the beach and my knee did exactly the same as when I dislocated it but as I'm wearing my brace, the hinges stop the knee from going too far back. It does give me a shock though! If I do too much it does get painful too. Still, I've only got half a stone to go and then it should be replaced. In answer to your question, I had gone out to get the washing in and when I was coming back down the garden path, I slipped on some moss and ended up in agony on the path unable to move. Completely dislocated the replacement and tore two ligaments pulling bone away too. One ligament had already been removed during the replacement so I now only have one ligament holding my knee together. Still I'm now up to 64 lengths of the pool - equivalent to a mile - so some good has come from the accident. Hope you are feeling better xx
Sending love and hugs to you all, Alison xx

Hello Sue,
I'm another I think who likes the card today but not necessarily in those colours! However if you never "stretch " us we won't grow! I need at least 3-4ins!! Lol!
I too love square cards and have the Atlantic Die set . However I don't have that shade of cardstock but as many have said it will be lovely in other colourways too!
Someone asked a few days ago if Maureen was back to normal! May I gently point out that normal and Maureen are words rarely used in the same sentence! However she is still my friend - well she was!!
Laine - I have a hectic life you know! I've emptied the dishwasher twice today , cooked lunch and chatted to grandchildren and family! I'm quite worn out! However it helps being young!! Ha ha ha!
Pat L - glad you had a day off today! I'm also pleased your husband is getting better and that the crutches have gone! Good news! It's the good nursing!
Pam - hope today was a better day for you! Sorry you had a bad day yesterday.
Frances - we really get to know and love the birds in our gardens don't we! We have an almost tame blackbird who comes down several times a day. They bring a lot of pleasure.
Congratulations to Barbara , Sue and Dawn.
Love to everyone, Myra ( Friend of Maureen!) xx
